Peshitta NT (Etheridge, 1849)
PesNT(Eth)
[1]About spiritual things but my brethren will I that you will know [1]BUT concerning spirituals, my brethren, I wish you to know
[2]That pagans you were and idols those which have not to them voice without discrimination being led you were [2]That you were Heathens, and unto idols which have no voice you were led without discernment.
[3]Because this inform I you that there is not a man who by The Spirit of Alaha speaks and says damned is Ieshu neither a man can say that the Lord is Ieshu except only by The Spirit of Holiness [3]I therefore make known to you, that there is no man who by the Spirit of Aloha speaketh, and saith that Jeshu is accursed; and no man also can say that Jeshu is THE LORD unless by the Spirit of Holiness.
[4]Diversities but of gifts there are but One is The Spirit [4]Now, there are distributions of gifts, but one is the Spirit;
[5]And diversities of ministries there are but One is the Lord [5]And there are distributions of ministries, but one is the Lord;
[6]And a diversity of miracles there is but One is Alaha Who works all in every person [6]And distributions of powers, but one is Aloha, who worketh all in every man.
[7]To each man but is given to him the revelation of The Spirit as it helps Him [7]But to each is given [such] a revelation of the Spirit as is profitable to him.
[8]There is given to him in The Spirit a word of wisdom to another but a word of knowledge in him by The Spirit [8]To one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom, but to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;
[9]To another faith in him by The Spirit to another the gift of healing in Him by The Spirit [9]And to another, faith by the same Spirit; and to another, the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;
[10]To another but miracles to another but prophecy to another but discernment of spirits to another but kinds of languages to another but translation of languages [10]But to another, powers; to another, prophecy; to another, the discernment of spirits; but to another, kinds of tongues; and to another, the interpretation of tongues.
[11]All but these One That Spirit does and distributes to every person as He pleases [11]But all these one Spirit effecteth, and divideth unto every man as he willeth.
[12]In like manner for because the body one is and there are in it members many all of them but members of the body while many they one are body thus also The Messiah [12]For, as the body is one, and in it are many members, but all the members of the body, though many, are one body; so also is the Meshiha.
[13]Also we for we all by One Spirit to one body are baptized if Judeans or Aramaeans or servants or children of freedom and we all One The Spirit are caused to drink [13]For we all by one Spirit into one body are baptized; whether Jihudoyee or Aramoyee; whether servants or sons of freedom; and all of us have imbibed one Spirit.
[14]Also the body for not is one member but many [14]For the body also is not one member, but many.
[15]If shall say for a foot that because that not I am a hand not I am of it of the body not? because of this is it not from it from the body [15]For if the foot should say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body itself, would it therefore not be of the body itself?
[16]And if should say an ear coming in that not I am an eye not I am from it from the body not? because of this is it not from it from the body [16]And if the ear should say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body itself, would it therefore not be of the body itself?
[17]If for all the body an eye were where? would be the hearing and if it all hearing were how? smell is there [17]For if the whole body were the eye, where would be the hearing? And if the whole were hearing, where would be the smelling?
[18]Now but Alaha set every one each of the members in the body just as He chooses [18]But now hath Aloha set all the members severally in the body as he willed.
[19]If but all of them one were member where? is the body [19]But if all were one member, where would be the body?
[20]Now but members there are many one is but the body [20]But now the members are many, but the body one.
[21]Not can the eye say to the hand "not necessary you are to me" neither the head can say to the feet "not necessary you are to me" [21]The eye is not able to say to the hand, Thou art not needful to me; nor is the hand able to say to the feet, You are not needful to me.
[22]But all the more those members that are considered weak on the contrary are needful [22]But those members which are considered to be feeble, of them is the more especial need;
[23]And those which we think shameful are in the body to these honor greater we increase and those that contemptible are attire greater we make for them [23]And those which we consider contemptible in the body, to these the more we increase the honour; and on those which are of shame we bestow the greater decoration.
[24]Those but members that are with us honored not need to them honor Alaha for unites the body and He has given honor greater to the members which are small [24]But those members that are honourable in us have no need of adornment: but Aloha hath contempered the body, and given the more honour to the member which is inconsiderable;
[25]Lest will be divisions in the body but all of the members equally one for another shall be caring [25]That there should be no divisions in the body, but all the members equally one of the other should have care:
[26]That now when one member shall be suffering all of them shall share the pain and if rejoices one member all of the members shall rejoice [26]As that when one member shall be diseased, all may suffer; and if one member be glorified, all the members may be glorified.
[27]You but the body are of The Messiah and members in your places [27]But you are the body of the Meshiha, and members in your place.
[28]Set for Alaha in his church first apostles after them prophets after them teachers after them workers of miracles after them gifts of healing and helpers and leaders and kinds of languages [28]FOR Aloha hath placed in the church, first, apostles; after them, prophets; after them, teachers; after them, workers of miracles; after them, gifts of healing, and helpers, and leaders, and kinds of tongues.
[29]Interrog. all of them apostles interrog. all of them prophets interrog. all of them teachers interrog. all of them workers miracles [29]Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Are all workers of miracles?
[30]Interrog. to all are? to them gifts of healing interrog. all of them with languages speaking or interrog. all of them translating [30]Have all the gifts of healing? Do all speak with tongues, or do all interpret?
[31]If but are zealous you are for gifts great I again I shall show you a way better [31]But if you are emulous of great gifts, I will yet show you a way more admirable.
