[1]And Rehoboam went to Shechem; for all Israel were come to Shechem to make him king. |

[2]And it came to pass, when Jeroboam the son of Nebat heard of it—for he was yet in Egypt, whither he had fled from the presence of king Solomon, and Jeroboam dwelt in Egypt, |

[3]And they sent and called him—that Jeroboam and all the congregation of Israel came, and spoke unto Rehoboam, saying: |
[4]ὁRA-NSM πατήρN3-NSM σύRP-GS βαρύνωV1I-IAI3S ὁRA-ASM κλοιόςN2-ASM ἐγώRP-GP καίC σύRP-NS νῦνD κουφίζωVA-AAD2S ἀπόP ὁRA-GSF δουλείαN1A-GSF ὁRA-GSM πατήρN3-GSM σύRP-GS ὁRA-GSF σκληρόςA1A-GSF καίC ἀπόP ὁRA-GSM κλοιόςN2-GSM αὐτόςRD-GSM ὁRA-GSM βαρύςA3U-GSM ὅςRR-GSM δίδωμιVAI-AAI3S ἐπίP ἐγώRP-AP καίC δουλεύωVF-FAI1P σύRP-DS |
[4]'Thy father made our yoke grievous; now therefore make thou the grievous service of thy father, and his heavy yoke which he put upon us, lighter, and we will serve thee.' |
[5]καίC εἶπονVBI-AAI3S πρόςP αὐτόςRD-APM ἀποἔρχομαιVA-AAD2P ἕωςP ἡμέραN1A-GPF τρεῖςA3-GPF καίC ἀναστρέφωVA-AAD2P πρόςP ἐγώRP-AS καίC ἀποἔρχομαιVBI-AAI3P |
[5]And he said unto them: 'Depart yet for three days, then come again to me.' And the people departed. |
[6]καίC παραἀγγέλλωVAI-AAI3S ὁRA-NSM βασιλεύςN3V-NSM ὁRA-DPM πρεσβύτεροςN2-DPM ὅςRR-NPM εἰμίV9-IAI3P παραἵστημιVH-AAPNPM ἐνώπιονP *σαλωμώνN--GSM ὁRA-GSM πατήρN3-GSM αὐτόςRD-GSM ἔτιD ζάωV3-PAPGSM αὐτόςRD-GSM λέγωV1-PAPNSM πῶςX σύRP-NP βουλεύωV1-PMI2P καίC ἀποκρίνωVC-APS1S ὁRA-DSM λαόςN2-DSM οὗτοςRD-DSM λόγοςN2-ASM |
[6]And king Rehoboam took counsel with the old men, that had stood before Solomon his father while he yet lived, saying: 'What counsel give ye me to return answer to this people?' |
[7]καίC λαλέωVAI-AAI3P πρόςP αὐτόςRD-ASM λέγωV1-PAPNPM εἰC ἐνP ὁRA-DSF ἡμέραN1A-DSF οὗτοςRD-DSF εἰμίVF-FMI2S δοῦλοςN2-NSM ὁRA-DSM λαόςN2-DSM οὗτοςRD-DSM καίC δουλεύωVA-AAS2S αὐτόςRD-DPM καίC λαλέωVA-AAS2S αὐτόςRD-DPM λόγοςN2-APM ἀγαθόςA1-APM καίC εἰμίVF-FMI3P σύRP-DS δοῦλοςN2-NPM πᾶςA1S-APF ὁRA-APF ἡμέραN1A-APF |
[7]And they spoke unto him, saying: 'If thou wilt be a servant unto this people this day, and wilt serve them, and answer them, and speak good words to them, then they will be thy servants for ever.' |
[8]καίC ἐν καταλείπωVBI-AAI3S ὁRA-ASF βουλήN1-ASF ὁRA-GPM πρεσβύτεροςN2-GPM ὅςRR-APN συνβουλεύωVAI-AMI3P αὐτόςRD-DSM καίC συνβουλεύωVAI-AMI3S μετάP ὁRA-GPM παιδάριονN2N-GPN ὁRA-GPN ἐκτρέφωVD-APPGPN μετάP αὐτόςRD-GSM ὁRA-GPN παραἵστημιVXI-XAPGPN πρόP πρόσωπονN2N-GSN αὐτόςRD-GSM |
[8]But he forsook the counsel of the old men which they had given him, and took counsel with the young men that were grown up with him, that stood before him. |
[9]καίC εἶπονVBI-AAI3S αὐτόςRD-DPM τίςRI-ASN σύRP-NP συνβουλεύωV1-PAI2P καίC τίςRI-ASN ἀποκρίνωVC-APS1S ὁRA-DSM λαόςN2-DSM οὗτοςRD-DSM ὁRA-DPM λαλέωVA-AAPDPM πρόςP ἐγώRP-AS λέγωV1-PAPGPM κουφίζωVA-AAD2S ἀπόP ὁRA-GSM κλοιόςN2-GSM ὅςRR-GSM δίδωμιVAI-AAI3S ὁRA-NSM πατήρN3-NSM σύRP-GS ἐπίP ἐγώRP-AP |
[9]And he said unto them: 'What counsel give ye, that we may return answer to thi people, who have spoken to me, saying: Make the yoke that thy father did put upon us lighter?' |
[10]καίC λαλέωVAI-AAI3P πρόςP αὐτόςRD-ASM ὁRA-NPN παιδάριονN2N-NPN ὁRA-NPN ἐκτρέφωVD-PPPNPN μετάP αὐτόςRD-GSM ὁRA-NPM παραἵστημιVXI-XAPNPM πρόP πρόσωπονN2N-GSN αὐτόςRD-GSM λέγωV1-PAPNPM ὅδεRD-APN λαλέωVF-FAI2S ὁRA-DSM λαόςN2-DSM οὗτοςRD-DSM ὁRA-DPM λαλέωVA-AAPDPM πρόςP σύRP-AS λέγωV1-PAPNPM ὁRA-NSM πατήρN3-NSM σύRP-GS βαρύνωV1I-IAI3S ὁRA-ASM κλοιόςN2-ASM ἐγώRP-GP καίC σύRP-NS νῦνD κουφίζωVA-AAD2S ἀπόP ἐγώRP-GP ὅδεRD-APN λαλέωVF-FAI2S πρόςP αὐτόςRD-APM ὁRA-NSF μικρότηςN3T-NSF ἐγώRP-GS παχύςA3U-ASFC ὁRA-GSF ὀσφύςN3U-GSF ὁRA-GSM πατήρN3-GSM ἐγώRP-GS |
[10]And the young men that were grown up with him spoke unto him, saying: 'Thus shalt thou say unto this people that spoke unto thee, saying: Thy father made our yoke heavy, but make thou it lighter unto us; thus shalt thou speak unto them: My little finger is thicker than my father's loins. |
[11]καίC νῦνD ὁRA-NSM πατήρN3-NSM ἐγώRP-GS ἐπισάττωV1I-IMI3S σύRP-AP κλοιόςN2-DSM βαρύςA3U-DSM καΐἐγώC+RPNS προςτίθημιVF-FAI1S ἐπίP ὁRA-ASM κλοιόςN2-ASM σύRP-GP ὁRA-NSM πατήρN3-NSM ἐγώRP-GS παιδεύωVAI-AAI3S σύRP-AP ἐνP μάστιξN3G-DPF ἐγώRP-NS δέX παιδεύωVF-FAI1S σύRP-AP ἐνP σκορπίοςN2-DPM |
[11]And now whereas my father did burden you with a heavy yoke, I will add to your yoke; my father chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions.' |
[12]καίC παραγίγνομαιVBI-AMI3P πᾶςA3-NSM *ἰσραήλN--NSM πρόςP ὁRA-ASM βασιλεύςN3V-ASM *ροβοαμN--ASM ἐνP ὁRA-DSF ἡμέραN1A-DSF ὁRA-DSF τρίτοςA1-DSF καθότιD λαλέωVAI-AAI3S αὐτόςRD-DPM ὁRA-NSM βασιλεύςN3V-NSM λέγωV1-PAPNSM ἀναστρέφωVA-AAD2P πρόςP ἐγώRP-AS ὁRA-DSF ἡμέραN1A-DSF ὁRA-DSF τρίτοςA1-DSF |
[12]So Jeroboam and all the people came to Rehoboam the third day, as the king bade, saying: 'Come to me again the third day.' |
[13]καίC ἀποκρίνωVCI-API3S ὁRA-NSM βασιλεύςN3V-NSM πρόςP ὁRA-ASM λαόςN2-ASM σκληρόςA1A-APN καίC ἐν καταλείπωVBI-AAI3S *ροβοαμN--NSM ὁRA-ASF βουλήN1-ASF ὁRA-GPM πρεσβύτεροςN2-GPM ὅςRR-APN συνβουλεύωVAI-AMI3P αὐτόςRD-DSM |
[13]And the k answered the people roughly, and forsook the counsel of the old men which they had given him; |
[14]καίC λαλέωVAI-AAI3S πρόςP αὐτόςRD-APM κατάP ὁRA-ASF βουλήN1-ASF ὁRA-GPN παιδάριονN2N-GPN λέγωV1-PAPNSM ὁRA-NSM πατήρN3-NSM ἐγώRP-GS βαρύνωV1I-IAI3S ὁRA-ASM κλοιόςN2-ASM σύRP-GP καΐἐγώC+RPNS προςτίθημιVF-FAI1S ἐπίP ὁRA-ASM κλοιόςN2-ASM σύRP-GP ὁRA-NSM πατήρN3-NSM ἐγώRP-GS παιδεύωVAI-AAI3S σύRP-AP ἐνP μάστιξN3G-DPF καΐἐγώC+RPNS παιδεύωVF-FAI1S σύRP-AP ἐνP σκορπίοςN2-DPM |
[14]And spoke to them after the counsel of the young men, saying: 'My father made your yoke heavy, but I will add to your yoke; my father chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions.' |
[15]καίC οὐD ἀκούωVAI-AAI3S ὁRA-NSM βασιλεύςN3V-NSM ὁRA-GSM λαόςN2-GSM ὅτιC εἰμίV9-IAI3S μεταστροφήN1-NSF παράP κύριοςN2-GSM ὅπωςC ἵστημιVA-AAS3S ὁRA-ASN ῥῆμαN3M-ASN αὐτόςRD-GSM ὅςRR-ASN λαλέωVAI-AAI3S ἐνP χείρN3-DSF *αχιαN--GSM ὁRA-GSM *σηλωνίτηςN1M-GSM περίP *ιεροβοαμN--GSM υἱόςN2-GSM *ναβατN--GSM |
[15]So the king hearkened not unto the people; for it was a thing brought about of 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇, that He migh establish His word, which 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇 spoke by the hand of Ahijah the Shilonite to Jeroboam the son of Nebat. |
[16]καίC ὁράωVBI-AAI3P πᾶςA3-NSM *ἰσραήλN--NSM ὅτιC οὐD ἀκούωVAI-AAI3S ὁRA-NSM βασιλεύςN3V-NSM αὐτόςRD-GPM καίC ἀποκρίνωVCI-API3S ὁRA-NSM λαόςN2-NSM ὁRA-DSM βασιλεύςN3V-DSM λέγωV1-PAPNSM τίςRI-NSF ἐγώRP-DP μερίςN3D-NSF ἐνP *δαυίδN--DSM καίC οὐD εἰμίV9-PAI3S ἐγώRP-DP κληρονομίαN1A-NSF ἐνP υἱόςN2-DSM *ιεσσαιN--GSM ἀποτρέχωV1-PAD2S *ἰσραήλN--NSM εἰςP ὁRA-APN σκήνωμαN3M-APN σύRP-GS νῦνD βόσκωV1-PAD2S ὁRA-ASM οἶκοςN2-ASM σύRP-GS *δαυίδN--NSM καίC ἀποἔρχομαιVBI-AAI3S *ἰσραήλN--NSM εἰςP ὁRA-APN σκήνωμαN3M-APN αὐτόςRD-GSM |
[16]And when all Israel saw that the king hearkened not unto them, the people answered the king, saying: 'What portion have we in David? neither have we inheritance in the son of Jesse; to your tents, O Israel; now see to thine own house, David.' So Israel departed unto their tents. |

[17]But as for the children of Israel that dwelt in the cities of Judah, Rehoboam reigned over them. |
[18]καίC ἀποστέλλωVAI-AAI3S ὁRA-NSM βασιλεύςN3V-NSM ὁRA-ASM *αδωνιραμN--ASM ὁRA-ASM ἐπίP ὁRA-GSM φόροςN2-GSM καίC λιθοβολέωVAI-AAI3P αὐτόςRD-ASM πᾶςA3-NSM *ἰσραήλN--NSM ἐνP λίθοςN2-DPM καίC ἀποθνήσκωVBI-AAI3S καίC ὁRA-NSM βασιλεύςN3V-NSM *ροβοαμN--NSM φθάνωVAI-AAI3S ἀναβαίνωVZ-AAN ὁRA-GSN φεύγωVB-AAN εἰςP *ἰερουσαλήμN--ASF |
[18]Then kin Rehoboam sent Adoram, who was over the levy; and all Israel stoned him with stones, so that he died. And king Rehoboam made speed to get him up to his chariot, to flee to Jerusalem. |
[19]καίC ἀθετέωVAI-AAI3S *ἰσραήλN--NSM εἰςP ὁRA-ASM οἶκοςN2-ASM *δαυίδN--GSM ἕωςP ὁRA-GSF ἡμέραN1A-GSF οὗτοςRD-GSF |
[19]So Israel rebelled against the house of David, unto this day. |
[20]καίC γίγνομαιVBI-AMI3S ὡςC ἀκούωVAI-AAI3S πᾶςA3-NSM *ἰσραήλN--NSM ὅτιC ἀνακάμπτωVAI-AAI3S *ιεροβοαμN--NSM ἐκP *αἴγυπτοςN2-GSF καίC ἀποστέλλωVAI-AAI3P καίC καλέωVAI-AAI3P αὐτόςRD-ASM εἰςP ὁRA-ASF συναγωγήN1-ASF καίC βασιλεύωVAI-AAI3P αὐτόςRD-ASM ἐπίP *ἰσραήλN--ASM καίC οὐD εἰμίV9-IAI3S ὀπίσωP οἶκοςN2-GSM *δαυίδN--GSM πάρεξP σκῆπτρονN2N-GSN *ιουδαN--GSM καίC *βενιαμίνN--GSM μόνοςA1-NPM |
[20]And it came to pass, when all Israel heard t Jeroboam was returned, that they sent and called him unto the congregation, and made him king over all Israel; there was none that followed the house of David, but the tribe of Judah only. |
[21]καίC *ροβοαμN--NSM εἰςἔρχομαιVBI-AAI3S εἰςP *ἰερουσαλήμN--ASF καίC ἐκἐκκλησιάζωVAI-AAI3S ὁRA-ASF συναγωγήN1-ASF *ιουδαN--GSM καίC σκῆπτρονN2N-ASN *βενιαμίνN--GSM ἑκατόνM καίC εἴκοσιM χιλιάςN3D-NPF νεανίαςN1T-GPM ποιέωV2-PAPGPM πόλεμοςN2-ASM ὁRA-GSN πολεμέωV2-PAN πρόςP οἶκοςN2-ASM *ἰσραήλN--GSM ἐπιστρέφωVA-AAN ὁRA-ASF βασιλείαN1A-ASF *ροβοαμN--GSM υἱόςN2-DSM *σαλωμώνN--GSM |
[21]And w Rehoboam was come to Jerusalem, be assembled all the house of Judah, and the tribe of Benjamin, a hundred and fourscore thousand chosen men that were warriors, to fight against the house of Israel, to bring the kingdom back to Rehoboam the son of Solomon. |

[22]But the word of God came unto Shemaiah the man of God, saying: |
[23]εἶπονVB-AAD2S ὁRA-DSM *ροβοαμN--DSM υἱόςN2-DSM *σαλωμώνN--GSM βασιλεύςN3V-DSM *ιουδαN--GSM καίC πρόςP πᾶςA3-ASM οἶκοςN2-ASM *ιουδαN--GSM καίC *βενιαμίνN--GSM καίC ὁRA-DSM κατάλοιποςA1B-DSM ὁRA-GSM λαόςN2-GSM λέγωV1-PAPNSM |
[23]'Speak unto Rehoboam the son of Solomon, king of Judah, and unto all the house of Judah and Benjamin, and to the rest of the people, saying: |
