| [2]אָנֹכִ֣י הֹלֵ֔ךְ בְּדֶ֖רֶךְ כָּל־הָאָ֑רֶץ וְחָזַקְתָּ֖ וְהָיִ֥יתָֽ לְאִֽישׁ׃ |
[2]I goH1980[H8802] the wayH1870 of all the earthH776: be thou strongH2388[H8804] therefore, and shew thyself a manH376; |
| [3]וְשָׁמַרְתָּ֞ אֶת־מִשְׁמֶ֣רֶת ׀ יְהוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֶ֗יךָ לָלֶ֤כֶת בִּדְרָכָיו֙ לִשְׁמֹ֨ר חֻקֹּתָ֤יו מִצְוֹתָיו֙ וּמִשְׁפָּטָ֣יו וְעֵדְוֹתָ֔יו כַּכָּת֖וּב בְּתֹורַ֣ת מֹשֶׁ֑ה לְמַ֣עַן תַּשְׂכִּ֗יל אֵ֚ת כָּל־אֲשֶׁ֣ר תַּֽעֲשֶׂ֔ה וְאֵ֛ת כָּל־אֲשֶׁ֥ר תִּפְנֶ֖ה שָֽׁם׃ |
[3]And keepH8104[H8804] the chargeH4931 of the LORDH3068 thy GodH430, to walkH3212[H8800] in his waysH1870, to keepH8104[H8800] his statutesH2708, and his commandmentsH4687, and his judgmentsH4941, and his testimoniesH5715, as it is writtenH3789[H8803] in the lawH8451 of MosesH4872, that thou mayest prosperH7919[H8686] in all that thou doestH6213[H8799], and whithersoever thou turnestH6437 thyselfH8799: |
| [4]לְמַעַן֩ יָקִ֨ים יְהוָ֜ה אֶת־דְּבָרֹ֗ו אֲשֶׁ֨ר דִּבֶּ֣ר עָלַי֮ לֵאמֹר֒ אִם־יִשְׁמְר֨וּ בָנֶ֜יךָ אֶת־דַּרְכָּ֗ם לָלֶ֤כֶת לְפָנַי֙ בֶּאֱמֶ֔ת בְּכָל־לְבָבָ֖ם וּבְכָל־נַפְשָׁ֑ם לֵאמֹ֕ר לֹֽא־יִכָּרֵ֤ת לְךָ֙ אִ֔ישׁ מֵעַ֖ל כִּסֵּ֥א יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ |
[4]That the LORDH3068 may continueH6965[H8686] his wordH1697 which he spakeH1696[H8765] concerning me, sayingH559[H8800], If thy childrenH1121 take heedH8104[H8799] to their wayH1870, to walkH3212[H8800] beforeH6440 me in truthH571 with all their heartH3824 and with all their soulH5315, there shall not failH3772[H8735] thee (saidH559[H8800] he) a manH376 on the throneH3678 of IsraelH3478. |
| [5]וְגַ֣ם אַתָּ֣ה יָדַ֡עְתָּ אֵת֩ אֲשֶׁר־עָ֨שָׂה לִ֜י יֹואָ֣ב בֶּן־צְרוּיָ֗ה אֲשֶׁ֣ר עָשָׂ֣ה לִשְׁנֵֽי־שָׂרֵ֣י צִבְאֹ֣ות יִ֠שְׂרָאֵל לְאַבְנֵ֨ר בֶּן־נֵ֜ר וְלַעֲמָשָׂ֤א בֶן־יֶ֙תֶר֙ וַיַּ֣הַרְגֵ֔ם וַיָּ֥שֶׂם דְּמֵֽי־מִלְחָמָ֖ה בְּשָׁלֹ֑ם וַיִּתֵּ֞ן דְּמֵ֣י מִלְחָמָ֗ה בַּחֲגֹֽרָתֹו֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר בְּמָתְנָ֔יו וּֽבְנַעֲלֹ֖ו אֲשֶׁ֥ר בְּרַגְלָֽיו׃ |
[5]Moreover thou knowestH3045[H8804] also what JoabH3097 the sonH1121 of ZeruiahH6870 didH6213[H8804] to me, and what he didH6213[H8804] to the twoH8147 captainsH8269 of the hostsH6635 of IsraelH3478, unto AbnerH74 the sonH1121 of NerH5369, and unto AmasaH6021 the sonH1121 of JetherH3500, whom he slewH2026[H8799], and shedH7760[H8799] the bloodH1818 of warH4421 in peaceH7965, and putH5414[H8799] the bloodH1818 of warH4421 upon his girdleH2290 that was about his loinsH4975, and in his shoesH5275 that were on his feetH7272. |
| [6]וְעָשִׂ֖יתָ כְּחָכְמָתֶ֑ךָ וְלֹֽא־תֹורֵ֧ד שֵׂיבָתֹ֛ו בְּשָׁלֹ֖ם שְׁאֹֽל׃ |
[6]DoH6213[H8804] therefore according to thy wisdomH2451, and let not his hoar headH7872 go downH3381[H8686] to the graveH7585 in peaceH7965. |
| [7]וְלִבְנֵ֨י בַרְזִלַּ֤י הַגִּלְעָדִי֙ תַּֽעֲשֶׂה־חֶ֔סֶד וְהָי֖וּ בְּאֹכְלֵ֣י שֻׁלְחָנֶ֑ךָ כִּי־כֵן֙ קָרְב֣וּ אֵלַ֔י בְּבָרְחִ֕י מִפְּנֵ֖י אַבְשָׁלֹ֥ום אָחִֽיךָ׃ |
[7]But shewH6213[H8799] kindnessH2617 unto the sonsH1121 of BarzillaiH1271 the GileaditeH1569, and let them be of those that eatH398[H8802] at thy tableH7979: for so they cameH7126[H8804] to me when I fledH1272[H8800] becauseH6440 of AbsalomH53 thy brotherH251. |
| [8]וְהִנֵּ֣ה עִ֠מְּךָ שִֽׁמְעִ֨י בֶן־גֵּרָ֥א בֶן־הַיְמִינִי֮ מִבַּחֻרִים֒ וְה֤וּא קִֽלְלַ֙נִי֙ קְלָלָ֣ה נִמְרֶ֔צֶת בְּיֹ֖ום לֶכְתִּ֣י מַחֲנָ֑יִם וְהֽוּא־יָרַ֤ד לִקְרָאתִי֙ הַיַּרְדֵּ֔ן וָאֶשָּׁ֨בַֽע לֹ֤ו בַֽיהוָה֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר אִם־אֲמִֽיתְךָ֖ בֶּחָֽרֶב׃ |
[8]And, behold, thou hast with thee ShimeiH8096 the sonH1121 of GeraH1617, a BenjamiteH1145 of BahurimH980, which cursedH7043[H8765] me with a grievousH4834[H8737] curseH7045 in the dayH3117 when I wentH3212[H8800] to MahanaimH4266: but he came downH3381[H8804] to meetH7125[H8800] me at JordanH3383, and I swareH7650[H8735] to him by the LORDH3068, sayingH559[H8800], I will not put thee to deathH4191[H8686] with the swordH2719. |
| [9]וְעַתָּה֙ אַל־תְּנַקֵּ֔הוּ כִּ֛י אִ֥ישׁ חָכָ֖ם אָ֑תָּה וְיָֽדַעְתָּ֙ אֵ֣ת אֲשֶׁ֣ר תַּֽעֲשֶׂה־לֹּ֔ו וְהֹורַדְתָּ֧ אֶת־שֵׂיבָתֹ֛ו בְּדָ֖ם שְׁאֹֽול׃ |
[9]Now therefore hold him not guiltlessH5352[H8762]: for thou art a wiseH2450 manH376, and knowestH3045[H8804] what thou oughtest to doH6213[H8799] unto him; but his hoar headH7872 bring thou downH3381[H8689] to the graveH7585 with bloodH1818. |
| [10]וַיִּשְׁכַּ֥ב דָּוִ֖ד עִם־אֲבֹתָ֑יו וַיִּקָּבֵ֖ר בְּעִ֥יר דָּוִֽד׃ |
[10]So DavidH1732 sleptH7901[H8799] with his fathersH1, and was buriedH6912[H8735] in the cityH5892 of DavidH1732. |
| [11]וְהַיָּמִ֗ים אֲשֶׁ֨ר מָלַ֤ךְ דָּוִד֙ עַל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל אַרְבָּעִ֖ים שָׁנָ֑ה בְּחֶבְרֹ֤ון מָלַךְ֙ שֶׁ֣בַע שָׁנִ֔ים וּבִירוּשָׁלִַ֣ם מָלַ֔ךְ שְׁלֹשִׁ֥ים וְשָׁלֹ֖שׁ שָׁנִֽים׃ |
[11]And the daysH3117 that DavidH1732 reignedH4427[H8804] over IsraelH3478 were fortyH705 yearsH8141: sevenH7651 yearsH8141 reignedH4427[H8804] he in HebronH2275, and thirtyH7970 and threeH7969 yearsH8141 reignedH4427[H8804] he in JerusalemH3389. |
| [12]וּשְׁלֹמֹ֕ה יָשַׁ֕ב עַל־כִּסֵּ֖א דָּוִ֣ד אָבִ֑יו וַתִּכֹּ֥ן מַלְכֻתֹ֖ו מְאֹֽד׃ |
[12]Then satH3427[H8804] SolomonH8010 upon the throneH3678 of DavidH1732 his fatherH1; and his kingdomH4438 was establishedH3559[H8735] greatlyH3966. |
| [13]וַיָּבֹ֞א אֲדֹנִיָּ֣הוּ בֶן־חַגֵּ֗ית אֶל־בַּת־שֶׁ֙בַע֙ אֵם־שְׁלֹמֹ֔ה וַתֹּ֖אמֶר הֲשָׁלֹ֣ום בֹּאֶ֑ךָ וַיֹּ֖אמֶר שָׁלֹֽום׃ |
[13]And AdonijahH138 the sonH1121 of HaggithH2294 cameH935[H8799] to BathshebaH1339 the motherH517 of SolomonH8010. And she saidH559[H8799], ComestH935[H8800] thou peaceablyH7965? And he saidH559[H8799], PeaceablyH7965. |
| [14]וַיֹּ֕אמֶר דָּבָ֥ר לִ֖י אֵלָ֑יִךְ וַתֹּ֖אמֶר דַּבֵּֽר׃ |
[14]He saidH559[H8799] moreover, I have somewhat to sayH1697 unto thee. And she saidH559[H8799], Say onH1696.[H8761] |
| [15]וַיֹּ֗אמֶר אַ֤תְּ יָדַ֙עַתְּ֙ כִּי־לִי֙ הָיְתָ֣ה הַמְּלוּכָ֔ה וְעָלַ֞י שָׂ֧מוּ כָֽל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל פְּנֵיהֶ֖ם לִמְלֹ֑ךְ וַתִּסֹּ֤ב הַמְּלוּכָה֙ וַתְּהִ֣י לְאָחִ֔י כִּ֥י מֵיְהוָ֖ה הָ֥יְתָה לֹּֽו׃ |
[15]And he saidH559[H8799], Thou knowestH3045[H8804] that the kingdomH4410 was mine, and that all IsraelH3478 setH7760[H8804] their facesH6440 on me, that I should reignH4427[H8800]: howbeit the kingdomH4410 is turned aboutH5437[H8735], and is become my brother'sH251: for it was his from the LORDH3068. |
| [16]וְעַתָּ֗ה שְׁאֵלָ֤ה אַחַת֙ אָֽנֹכִי֙ שֹׁאֵ֣ל מֵֽאִתָּ֔ךְ אַל־תָּשִׁ֖בִי אֶת־פָּנָ֑י וַתֹּ֥אמֶר אֵלָ֖יו דַּבֵּֽר׃ |
[16]And now I askH7592[H8802] oneH259 petitionH7596 of thee, denyH7725[H8686] meH6440 not. And she saidH559[H8799] unto him, Say onH1696.[H8761] |
| [17]וַיֹּ֗אמֶר אִמְרִי־נָא֙ לִשְׁלֹמֹ֣ה הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ כִּ֥י לֹֽא־יָשִׁ֖יב אֶת־פָּנָ֑יִךְ וְיִתֶּן־לִ֛י אֶת־אֲבִישַׁ֥ג הַשּׁוּנַמִּ֖ית לְאִשָּֽׁה׃ |
[17]And he saidH559[H8799], SpeakH559[H8798], I pray thee, unto SolomonH8010 the kingH4428, (for he will not sayH7725 theeH6440 nayH7725[H8686],) that he giveH5414[H8799] me AbishagH49 the ShunammiteH7767 to wifeH802. |
| [18]וַתֹּ֥אמֶר בַּת־שֶׁ֖בַע טֹ֑וב אָנֹכִ֕י אֲדַבֵּ֥ר עָלֶ֖יךָ אֶל־הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃ |
[18]And BathshebaH1339 saidH559[H8799], WellH2896; I will speakH1696[H8762] for thee unto the kingH4428. |
| [19]וַתָּבֹ֤א בַת־שֶׁ֙בַע֙ אֶל־הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ שְׁלֹמֹ֔ה לְדַבֶּר־לֹ֖ו עַל־אֲדֹנִיָּ֑הוּ וַיָּקָם֩ הַמֶּ֨לֶךְ לִקְרָאתָ֜הּ וַיִּשְׁתַּ֣חוּ לָ֗הּ וַיֵּ֙שֶׁב֙ עַל־כִּסְאֹ֔ו וַיָּ֤שֶׂם כִּסֵּא֙ לְאֵ֣ם הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ וַתֵּ֖שֶׁב לִֽימִינֹֽו׃ |
[19]BathshebaH1339 therefore wentH935[H8799] unto kingH4428 SolomonH8010, to speakH1696[H8763] unto him for AdonijahH138. And the kingH4428 rose upH6965[H8799] to meetH7125[H8800] her, and bowedH7812[H8691] himself unto her, and sat downH3427[H8799] on his throneH3678, and caused a seatH3678 to be setH7760[H8799] for the king'sH4428 motherH517; and she satH3427[H8799] on his right handH3225. |
| [20]וַתֹּ֗אמֶר שְׁאֵלָ֨ה אַחַ֤ת קְטַנָּה֙ אָֽנֹכִי֙ שֹׁאֶ֣לֶת מֵֽאִתָּ֔ךְ אַל־תָּ֖שֶׁב אֶת־פָּנָ֑י וַיֹּֽאמֶר־לָ֤הּ הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ שַׁאֲלִ֣י אִמִּ֔י כִּ֥י לֹֽא־אָשִׁ֖יב אֶת־פָּנָֽיִךְ׃ |
[20]Then she saidH559[H8799], I desireH7592[H8802] oneH259 smallH6996 petitionH7596 of thee; I pray thee, sayH7725 meH6440 not nayH7725[H8686]. And the kingH4428 saidH559[H8799] unto her, Ask onH7592[H8798], my motherH517: for I will not sayH7725 theeH6440 nayH7725.[H8686] |
| [21]וַתֹּ֕אמֶר יֻתַּ֖ן אֶת־אֲבִישַׁ֣ג הַשֻּׁנַמִּ֑ית לַאֲדֹנִיָּ֥הוּ אָחִ֖יךָ לְאִשָּֽׁה׃ |
[21]And she saidH559[H8799], Let AbishagH49 the ShunammiteH7767 be givenH5414[H8714] to AdonijahH138 thy brotherH251 to wifeH802. |
| [22]וַיַּעַן֩ הַמֶּ֨לֶךְ שְׁלֹמֹ֜ה וַיֹּ֣אמֶר לְאִמֹּ֗ו וְלָמָה֩ אַ֨תְּ שֹׁאֶ֜לֶת אֶת־אֲבִישַׁ֤ג הַשֻּׁנַמִּית֙ לַאֲדֹ֣נִיָּ֔הוּ וְשַֽׁאֲלִי־לֹו֙ אֶת־הַמְּלוּכָ֔ה כִּ֛י ה֥וּא אָחִ֖י הַגָּדֹ֣ול מִמֶּ֑נִּי וְלֹו֙ וּלְאֶבְיָתָ֣ר הַכֹּהֵ֔ן וּלְיֹואָ֖ב בֶּן־צְרוּיָֽה׃ |
[22]And kingH4428 SolomonH8010 answeredH6030[H8799] and saidH559[H8799] unto his motherH517, And why dost thou askH7592[H8802] AbishagH49 the ShunammiteH7767 for AdonijahH138? askH7592[H8798] for him the kingdomH4410 also; for he is mine elderH1419 brotherH251; even for him, and for AbiatharH54 the priestH3548, and for JoabH3097 the sonH1121 of ZeruiahH6870. |
| [23]וַיִּשָּׁבַע֙ הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ שְׁלֹמֹ֔ה בַּֽיהוָ֖ה לֵאמֹ֑ר כֹּ֣ה יַֽעֲשֶׂה־לִּ֤י אֱלֹהִים֙ וְכֹ֣ה יֹוסִ֔יף כִּ֣י בְנַפְשֹׁ֔ו דִּבֶּר֙ אֲדֹ֣נִיָּ֔הוּ אֶת־הַדָּבָ֖ר הַזֶּֽה׃ |
[23]Then kingH4428 SolomonH8010 swareH7650[H8735] by the LORDH3068, sayingH559[H8800], GodH430 doH6213[H8799] so to me, and more alsoH3254[H8686], if AdonijahH138 have not spokenH1696[H8765] this wordH1697 against his own lifeH5315. |
| [24]וְעַתָּ֗ה חַי־יְהוָה֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר הֱכִינַ֗נִי [וַיֹּושִׁיבִינִי כ] (וַיֹּֽושִׁיבַ֙נִי֙ ק) עַל־כִּסֵּא֙ דָּוִ֣ד אָבִ֔י וַאֲשֶׁ֧ר עָֽשָׂה־לִ֛י בַּ֖יִת כַּאֲשֶׁ֣ר דִּבֵּ֑ר כִּ֣י הַיֹּ֔ום יוּמַ֖ת אֲדֹנִיָּֽהוּ׃ |
[24]Now therefore, as the LORDH3068 livethH2416, which hath establishedH3559[H8689] me, and setH3427[H8686] me on the throneH3678 of DavidH1732 my fatherH1, and who hath madeH6213[H8804] me an houseH1004, as he promisedH1696[H8765], AdonijahH138 shall be put to deathH4191[H8714] this dayH3117. |
| [25]וַיִּשְׁלַח֙ הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ שְׁלֹמֹ֔ה בְּיַ֖ד בְּנָיָ֣הוּ בֶן־יְהֹויָדָ֑ע וַיִּפְגַּע־בֹּ֖ו וַיָּמֹֽת׃ |
[25]And kingH4428 SolomonH8010 sentH7971[H8799] by the handH3027 of BenaiahH1141 the sonH1121 of JehoiadaH3077; and he fellH6293[H8799] upon him that he diedH4191.[H8799] |
| [26]וּלְאֶבְיָתָ֨ר הַכֹּהֵ֜ן אָמַ֣ר הַמֶּ֗לֶךְ עֲנָתֹת֙ לֵ֣ךְ עַל־שָׂדֶ֔יךָ כִּ֛י אִ֥ישׁ מָ֖וֶת אָ֑תָּה וּבַיֹּ֨ום הַזֶּ֜ה לֹ֣א אֲמִיתֶ֗ךָ כִּֽי־נָשָׂ֜אתָ אֶת־אֲרֹ֨ון אֲדֹנָ֤י יְהֹוִה֙ לִפְנֵי֙ דָּוִ֣ד אָבִ֔י וְכִ֣י הִתְעַנִּ֔יתָ בְּכֹ֥ל אֲשֶֽׁר־הִתְעַנָּ֖ה אָבִֽי׃ |
[26]And unto AbiatharH54 the priestH3548 saidH559[H8804] the kingH4428, GetH3212[H8798] thee to AnathothH6068, unto thine own fieldsH7704; for thou art worthyH376 of deathH4194: but I will not at this timeH3117 put thee to deathH4191[H8686], because thou barestH5375[H8804] the arkH727 of the LordH136 GODH3069 beforeH6440 DavidH1732 my fatherH1, and because thou hast been afflictedH6031[H8694] in all wherein my fatherH1 was afflictedH6031.[H8694] |
| [27]וַיְגָ֤רֶשׁ שְׁלֹמֹה֙ אֶת־אֶבְיָתָ֔ר מִהְיֹ֥ות כֹּהֵ֖ן לַֽיהוָ֑ה לְמַלֵּא֙ אֶת־דְּבַ֣ר יְהוָ֔ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר דִּבֶּ֛ר עַל־בֵּ֥ית עֵלִ֖י בְּשִׁלֹֽה׃ |
[27]So SolomonH8010 thrust outH1644[H8762] AbiatharH54 from being priestH3548 unto the LORDH3068; that he might fulfilH4390[H8763] the wordH1697 of the LORDH3068, which he spakeH1696[H8765] concerning the houseH1004 of EliH5941 in ShilohH7887. |
| [28]וְהַשְּׁמֻעָה֙ בָּ֣אָה עַד־יֹואָ֔ב כִּ֣י יֹואָ֗ב נָטָה֙ אַחֲרֵ֣י אֲדֹנִיָּ֔ה וְאַחֲרֵ֥י אַבְשָׁלֹ֖ום לֹ֣א נָטָ֑ה וַיָּ֤נָס יֹואָב֙ אֶל־אֹ֣הֶל יְהוָ֔ה וַֽיַּחֲזֵ֖ק בְּקַרְנֹ֥ות הַמִּזְבֵּֽחַ׃ |
[28]Then tidingsH8052 cameH935[H8804] to JoabH3097: for JoabH3097 had turnedH5186[H8804] afterH310 AdonijahH138, though he turnedH5186[H8804] not afterH310 AbsalomH53. And JoabH3097 fledH5127[H8799] unto the tabernacleH168 of the LORDH3068, and caught holdH2388[H8686] on the hornsH7161 of the altarH4196. |
| [29]וַיֻּגַּ֞ד לַמֶּ֣לֶךְ שְׁלֹמֹ֗ה כִּ֣י נָ֤ס יֹואָב֙ אֶל־אֹ֣הֶל יְהוָ֔ה וְהִנֵּ֖ה אֵ֣צֶל הַמִּזְבֵּ֑חַ וַיִּשְׁלַ֨ח שְׁלֹמֹ֜ה אֶת־בְּנָיָ֧הוּ בֶן־יְהֹויָדָ֛ע לֵאמֹ֖ר לֵ֥ךְ פְּגַע־בֹּֽו׃ |
[29]And it was toldH5046[H8714] kingH4428 SolomonH8010 that JoabH3097 was fledH5127[H8804] unto the tabernacleH168 of the LORDH3068; and, behold, he is byH681 the altarH4196. Then SolomonH8010 sentH7971[H8799] BenaiahH1141 the sonH1121 of JehoiadaH3077, sayingH559[H8800], GoH3212[H8798], fallH6293 upon himH8798. |
| [30]וַיָּבֹ֨א בְנָיָ֜הוּ אֶל־אֹ֣הֶל יְהוָ֗ה וַיֹּ֨אמֶר אֵלָ֜יו כֹּֽה־אָמַ֤ר הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ צֵ֔א וַיֹּ֥אמֶר ׀ לֹ֖א כִּ֣י פֹ֣ה אָמ֑וּת וַיָּ֨שֶׁב בְּנָיָ֤הוּ אֶת־הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ דָּבָ֣ר לֵאמֹ֔ר כֹּֽה־דִבֶּ֥ר יֹואָ֖ב וְכֹ֥ה עָנָֽנִי׃ |
[30]And BenaiahH1141 cameH935[H8799] to the tabernacleH168 of the LORDH3068, and saidH559[H8799] unto him, Thus saithH559[H8804] the kingH4428, Come forthH3318[H8798]. And he saidH559[H8799], Nay; but I will dieH4191[H8799] here. | [32]וְהֵשִׁיב֩ יְהוָ֨ה אֶת־דָּמֹ֜ו עַל־רֹאשֹׁ֗ו אֲשֶׁ֣ר פָּגַ֣ע בִּשְׁנֵֽי־אֲ֠נָשִׁים צַדִּקִ֨ים וְטֹבִ֤ים מִמֶּ֙נּוּ֙ וַיַּהַרְגֵ֣ם בַּחֶ֔רֶב וְאָבִ֥י דָוִ֖ד לֹ֣א יָדָ֑ע אֶת־אַבְנֵ֤ר בֶּן־נֵר֙ שַׂר־צְבָ֣א יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל וְאֶת־עֲמָשָׂ֥א בֶן־יֶ֖תֶר שַׂר־צְבָ֥א יְהוּדָֽה׃ |

| [33]וְשָׁ֤בוּ דְמֵיהֶם֙ בְּרֹ֣אשׁ יֹואָ֔ב וּבְרֹ֥אשׁ זַרְעֹ֖ו לְעֹלָ֑ם וּלְדָוִ֡ד וּ֠לְזַרְעֹו וּלְבֵיתֹ֨ו וּלְכִסְאֹ֜ו יִהְיֶ֥ה שָׁלֹ֛ום עַד־עֹולָ֖ם מֵעִ֥ם יְהוָֽה׃ |
[33]Their bloodH1818 shall therefore returnH7725[H8804] upon the headH7218 of JoabH3097, and upon the headH7218 of his seedH2233 for everH5769: but upon DavidH1732, and upon his seedH2233, and upon his houseH1004, and upon his throneH3678, shall there be peaceH7965 forH5704 everH5769 from the LORDH3068. |
| [34]וַיַּ֗עַל בְּנָיָ֙הוּ֙ בֶּן־יְהֹ֣ויָדָ֔ע וַיִּפְגַּע־בֹּ֖ו וַיְמִתֵ֑הוּ וַיִּקָּבֵ֥ר בְּבֵיתֹ֖ו בַּמִּדְבָּֽר׃ |
[34]So BenaiahH1141 the sonH1121 of JehoiadaH3077 went upH5927[H8799], and fellH6293[H8799] upon him, and slewH4191[H8686] him: and he was buriedH6912[H8735] in his own houseH1004 in the wildernessH4057. |

[35]And the kingH4428 putH5414[H8799] BenaiahH1141 the sonH1121 of JehoiadaH3077 in his room over the hostH6635: and ZadokH6659 the priestH3548 did the kingH4428 putH5414[H8804] in the room of AbiatharH54. |
| [36]וַיִּשְׁלַ֤ח הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ וַיִּקְרָ֣א לְשִׁמְעִ֔י וַיֹּ֣אמֶר לֹ֗ו בְּֽנֵה־לְךָ֥ בַ֙יִת֙ בִּיר֣וּשָׁלִַ֔ם וְיָשַׁבְתָּ֖ שָׁ֑ם וְלֹֽא־תֵצֵ֥א מִשָּׁ֖ם אָ֥נֶה וָאָֽנָה׃ |
[36]And the kingH4428 sentH7971[H8799] and calledH7121[H8799] for ShimeiH8096, and saidH559[H8799] unto him, BuildH1129[H8798] thee an houseH1004 in JerusalemH3389, and dwellH3427[H8804] there, and go not forthH3318[H8799] thence any whitherH575. |
| [37]וְהָיָ֣ה ׀ בְּיֹ֣ום צֵאתְךָ֗ וְעָֽבַרְתָּ֙ אֶת־נַ֣חַל קִדְרֹ֔ון יָדֹ֥עַ תֵּדַ֖ע כִּ֣י מֹ֣ות תָּמ֑וּת דָּמְךָ֖ יִהְיֶ֥ה בְרֹאשֶֽׁךָ׃ |
[37]For it shall be, that on the dayH3117 thou goest outH3318[H8800], and passest overH5674[H8804] the brookH5158 KidronH6939, thou shalt knowH3045[H8799] for certainH3045[H8800] that thou shalt surelyH4191[H8800] dieH4191[H8799]: thy bloodH1818 shall be upon thine own headH7218. |
| [38]וַיֹּ֨אמֶר שִׁמְעִ֤י לַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ טֹ֣וב הַדָּבָ֔ר כַּאֲשֶׁ֤ר דִּבֶּר֙ אֲדֹנִ֣י הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ כֵּ֖ן יַעֲשֶׂ֣ה עַבְדֶּ֑ךָ וַיֵּ֧שֶׁב שִׁמְעִ֛י בִּירוּשָׁלִַ֖ם יָמִ֥ים רַבִּֽים׃ |

| [39]וַיְהִ֗י מִקֵּץ֙ שָׁלֹ֣שׁ שָׁנִ֔ים וַיִּבְרְח֤וּ שְׁנֵֽי־עֲבָדִים֙ לְשִׁמְעִ֔י אֶל־אָכִ֥ישׁ בֶּֽן־מַעֲכָ֖ה מֶ֣לֶךְ גַּ֑ת וַיַּגִּ֤ידוּ לְשִׁמְעִי֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר הִנֵּ֥ה עֲבָדֶ֖יךָ בְּגַֽת׃ |

| [40]וַיָּ֣קָם שִׁמְעִ֗י וַֽיַּחֲבֹשׁ֙ אֶת־חֲמֹרֹ֔ו וַיֵּ֤לֶךְ גַּ֙תָה֙ אֶל־אָכִ֔ישׁ לְבַקֵּ֖שׁ אֶת־עֲבָדָ֑יו וַיֵּ֣לֶךְ שִׁמְעִ֔י וַיָּבֵ֥א אֶת־עֲבָדָ֖יו מִגַּֽת׃ |

[41]And it was toldH5046[H8714] SolomonH8010 that ShimeiH8096 had goneH1980[H8804] from JerusalemH3389 to GathH1661, and was come againH7725.[H8799] |
| [42]וַיִּשְׁלַ֨ח הַמֶּ֜לֶךְ וַיִּקְרָ֣א לְשִׁמְעִ֗י וַיֹּ֨אמֶר אֵלָ֜יו הֲלֹ֧וא הִשְׁבַּעְתִּ֣יךָ בַֽיהוָ֗ה וָאָעִ֤ד בְּךָ֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר בְּיֹ֣ום צֵאתְךָ֗ וְהָֽלַכְתָּ֙ אָ֣נֶה וָאָ֔נָה יָדֹ֥עַ תֵּדַ֖ע כִּ֣י מֹ֣ות תָּמ֑וּת וַתֹּ֧אמֶר אֵלַ֛י טֹ֥וב הַדָּבָ֖ר שָׁמָֽעְתִּי׃ |

| [43]וּמַדּ֕וּעַ לֹ֣א שָׁמַ֔רְתָּ אֵ֖ת שְׁבֻעַ֣ת יְהוָ֑ה וְאֶת־הַמִּצְוָ֖ה אֲשֶׁר־צִוִּ֥יתִי עָלֶֽיךָ׃ |
[43]Why then hast thou not keptH8104[H8804] the oathH7621 of the LORDH3068, and the commandmentH4687 that I have chargedH6680 thee withH8765? |
| [44]וַיֹּ֨אמֶר הַמֶּ֜לֶךְ אֶל־שִׁמְעִ֗י אַתָּ֤ה יָדַ֙עְתָּ֙ אֵ֣ת כָּל־הָרָעָ֗ה אֲשֶׁ֤ר יָדַע֙ לְבָ֣בְךָ֔ אֲשֶׁ֥ר עָשִׂ֖יתָ לְדָוִ֣ד אָבִ֑י וְהֵשִׁ֧יב יְהוָ֛ה אֶת־רָעָתְךָ֖ בְּרֹאשֶֽׁךָ׃ |

| [45]וְהַמֶּ֥לֶךְ שְׁלֹמֹ֖ה בָּר֑וּךְ וְכִסֵּ֣א דָוִ֗ד יִהְיֶ֥ה נָכֹ֛ון לִפְנֵ֥י יְהוָ֖ה עַד־עֹולָֽם׃ |
[45]And kingH4428 SolomonH8010 shall be blessedH1288[H8803], and the throneH3678 of DavidH1732 shall be establishedH3559[H8737] beforeH6440 the LORDH3068 forH5704 everH5769. |
| [46]וַיְצַ֣ו הַמֶּ֗לֶךְ אֶת־בְּנָיָ֙הוּ֙ בֶּן־יְהֹ֣ויָדָ֔ע וַיֵּצֵ֕א וַיִּפְגַּע־בֹּ֖ו וַיָּמֹ֑ת וְהַמַּמְלָכָ֥ה נָכֹ֖ונָה בְּיַד־שְׁלֹמֹֽה׃ |
[46]So the kingH4428 commandedH6680[H8762] BenaiahH1141 the sonH1121 of JehoiadaH3077; which went outH3318[H8799], and fellH6293[H8799] upon him, that he diedH4191[H8799]. And the kingdomH4467 was establishedH3559[H8738] in the handH3027 of SolomonH8010. |
