| [5]For our preaching to you was not in words only, but also in power, and with the Holy Spirit, and with sincere assurance; and you know also how we lived among you for your sakes. |

| [6]And you became followers of us, and of our LORD, for you welcomed the word with much tribulation and with joy of the Holy Spirit: |

| [7]Thus you have become examples to all the believers in Mac-e-do'ni-a and A-cha'ia. |

| [8]Not only have you sounded out the word of our LORD in Mac-e-do'ni-a and A-cha'ia but also, in every place your faith in God has been heard so that we need not speak anything about you. |

| [9]For these people themselves relate how we entered first among you, and how you turned to God from idols, to serve the living and true God; |
