[1]What euere seruauntis ben vndur yok, deme thei her lordis worthi al onour, lest the name of the Lord and the doctryn be blasfemyd. [1]Let those who are under the yoke of servitude hold their masters in all honour, that the name of Aloha and his doctrine be not blasphemed.
[2]And thei that han feithful lordis, dispise hem not, for thei ben britheren; but more serue thei, for thei ben feithful and louyd, whiche ben parceneris of benefice. Teche thou these thingis, and moneste thou these thingis. [2]But let not those who have believing masters slight them, because they are their brethren; but serve them the more, because they are believers, and beloved who are refreshed by their ministry. These things teach and require of them.
[3]If ony man techith othere wise, and acordith not to the hoolsum wordis of oure Lord Jhesu Crist, and to that teching that is bi pitee, [3]But if there be a man who teacheth other doctrine, and who accedeth not to the healthful words of our Lord Jeshu Meshiha, and to the doctrine of the fear of Aloha,
[4]he is proud, and kan no thing, but langwischith aboute questiouns and stryuyng of wordis, of the whiche ben brouyt forth enuyes, stryues, blasfemyes, yuele suspiciouns, fiytingis of men, [4]This [is one] who extolleth himself while knowing nothing, but is infirm with disputation and questioning of words, from which are envy, and contention, and evil speaking, and supposition in the evil mind,
[5]that ben corrupt in soule, and that ben pryued fro treuthe, that demen wynnyng to be pitee. [5]And conflicts of men whose minds are corrupt and deprived of the truth, and who consider that gain is the fear of Aloha. But thou, remove thyself from them.
[6]But a greet wynnyng is pitee, with sufficience. [6]For our gain is great which is the fear of Aloha, with the use of our sufficiency.
[7]For we brouyten in no thing in to this world, and no doute, that we moun not bere `awey ony thing. [7]For nothing brought we into the world, and we know that nothing we are able to take from it.
[8]But we hauynge foodis, and with what thingus we schulen be hilid, be we paied with these thingis. [8]Therefore sufficient to us are food and raiment.
[9]For thei that wolen be maad riche, fallen in to temptacioun, and `in to snare of the deuel, and in to many vnprofitable desiris and noyous, whiche drenchen men in to deth and perdicioun. [9]But they who will be rich fall into temptations and snares, and many lusts which befool and injure, and which plunge men into destruction and perdition.
[10]For the rote of alle yuelis is coueytise, which summen coueitinge erriden fro the feith, and bisettiden hem with many sorewis. [10]For the root of all evil is the love of money; and there are who have coveted it, and from the faith have erred, and have made themselves enter into many sorrows.
[11]But, thou, man of God, fle these thingis; but sue thou riytwisnesse, pite, feith, charite, pacience, myldenesse. [11]But thou, O man of God, from these things flee, and follow after righteousness, and after equity, and after faith, and after charity, and after patience, and after meekness.
[12]Stryue thou a good strijf of feith, catche euerlastinge lijf, in to which thou art clepid, and hast knoulechid a good knouleching bifor many witnessis. [12]And contend in the good agony of faith, and lay hold of the life which is eternal, unto which thou art called, and hast confessed a good confession before many witnesses.
[13]I comaunde to thee bifor God, that quikeneth alle thingis, and bifor Crist Jhesu, that yeldide a witnessing vnder Pilat of Pounce, a good confessioun, [13]I ATTEST thee before Aloha, who vivifieth all, and Jeshu Meshiha, who witnessed before Pontius Pilatos the good testimony,
[14]that thou kepe the comaundement with out wem, with out repreef, in to the comyng of oure Lord Jhesu Crist; [14]That thou keep [this] commandment without spot and without blemish, until the manifestation of our Lord Jeshu Meshiha,
[15]whom the blessid and aloone miyti king of kyngis and Lord of lordis schal schewe in his tymes. [15]Whom in his time will show Aloha the blessed and only Strong One, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;
[16]Which aloone hath vndeedlynesse, and dwellith in liyt, to which no man may come; whom no man say, nether may se; to whom glorie, and honour, and empire be with out ende. [16]He who only is incorruptible, and [who] dwelleth in light which no man can approach; whom no man of men hath seen, nor is able to see: to him be honour and power for ever and ever. Amen.
[17]Amen. Comaunde thou to the riche men of this world, that thei vndurstonde not hiyli, nether that thei hope in vncerteynte of richessis, but in the lyuynge God, that yyueth to vs alle thingis plenteuously to vse; [17]The rich of this world instruct, that they be not uplifted in their minds, nor be trustful upon riches which have no security, but upon Aloha the living, who giveth to us all abundantly for our comfort;
[18]to do wel, to be maad riche in good werkis, liytli to yyue, [18]And that they perform good works, and become rich in welldoings, and be ready to give and to communicate,
[19]to comyne, to tresoure to hem silf a good foundement in to tyme to comynge, that thei catche euerlastinge lijf. [19]And lay for themselves a good foundation for that which is to be, that they may lay hold on the true life.
[20]Thou Tymothe, kepe the thing bitakun to thee, eschewynge cursid noueltees of voicis, and opynyouns of fals name of kunnyng; [20]O Timothy, watch over that which is confided to thee, and fly from vain words, and the turnings of false knowledge.
[21]which summen bihetinge, aboute the feith fellen doun. The grace of God be with thee. Amen. [21]For they who pursue it err from the faith. Grace be with thee. Amen. Finished is the First Epistle to Timotheos, which was written from Laodikia
