[1]Then the peopleH5971 of the landH776 tookH3947[H8799] JehoahazH3059 the sonH1121 of JosiahH2977, and made him kingH4427[H8686] in his father'sH1 stead in JerusalemH3389. [1]Then the people of the land took Jehoahaz the son of Josiah, and made him king in his father's stead in Jerusalem.
[2]JehoahazH3099 was twentyH6242 and threeH7969 yearsH8141 oldH1121 when he began to reignH4427[H8800], and he reignedH4427[H8804] threeH7969 monthsH2320 in JerusalemH3389. [2]Jehoahaz was three and twenty year old when he began to reign, and he reigned three months in Jerusalem.
[3]And the kingH4428 of EgyptH4714 put him downH5493[H8686] at JerusalemH3389, and condemnedH6064[H8799] the landH776 in an hundredH3967 talentsH3603 of silverH3701 and a talentH3603 of goldH2091. [3]And the king of Egypt took him away at Jerusalem, and condemned the land in an hundred talents of silver, and a talent of gold.
[4]And the kingH4428 of EgyptH4714 made EliakimH471 his brotherH251 kingH4427[H8686] over JudahH3063 and JerusalemH3389, and turnedH5437[H8686] his nameH8034 to JehoiakimH3079. And NechoH5224 tookH3947[H8804] JehoahazH3099 his brotherH251, and carriedH935[H8686] him to EgyptH4714. [4]And the king of Egypt made Eliakim his brother king over Judah and Jerusalem, and turned his name to Jehoiakim: and Necho took Jehoahaz his brother, and carried him to Egypt.
[5]JehoiakimH3079 was twentyH6242 and fiveH2568 yearsH8141 oldH1121 when he began to reignH4427[H8800], and he reignedH4427[H8804] elevenH259[H6240] yearsH8141 in JerusalemH3389: and he didH6213[H8799] that which was evilH7451 in the sightH5869 of the LORDH3068 his GodH430. [5]Jehoiakim was five and twenty year old, when he began to reign, and he reigned eleven year in Jerusalem, and did evil in the sight of the Lord his God.
[6]Against him came upH5927[H8804] NebuchadnezzarH5019 kingH4428 of BabylonH894, and boundH631[H8799] him in fettersH5178, to carryH3212[H8687] him to BabylonH894. [6]Against him came up Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and bound him with chains to carry him to Babylon.
[7]NebuchadnezzarH5019 also carriedH935[H8689] of the vesselsH3627 of the houseH1004 of the LORDH3068 to BabylonH894, and putH5414[H8799] them in his templeH1964 at BabylonH894. [7]Nebuchadnezzar also carried of the vessels of the house of the Lord to Babylon, and put them in his temple at Babylon.
[8]Now the restH3499 of the actsH1697 of JehoiakimH3079, and his abominationsH8441 which he didH6213[H8804], and that which was foundH4672[H8737] in him, behold, they are writtenH3789[H8803] in the bookH5612 of the kingsH4428 of IsraelH3478 and JudahH3063: and JehoiachinH3078 his sonH1121 reignedH4427 in his steadH8799. [8]Concerning the rest of the acts of Jehoiakim, and his abominations which he did, and that which was found upon him, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah, and Jehoiachin his son reigned in his stead.
[9]JehoiachinH3078 was eightH8083 yearsH8141 oldH1121 when he began to reignH4427[H8800], and he reignedH4427[H8804] threeH7969 monthsH2320 and tenH6235 daysH3117 in JerusalemH3389: and he didH6213[H8799] that which was evilH7451 in the sightH5869 of the LORDH3068. [9]Jehoiachin was eight year old when he began to reign, and he reigned three months and ten days in Jerusalem, and did evil in the sight of the Lord.
[10]And when the yearH8141 was expiredH8666, kingH4428 NebuchadnezzarH5019 sentH7971[H8804], and broughtH935[H8686] him to BabylonH894, with the goodlyH2532 vesselsH3627 of the houseH1004 of the LORDH3068, and made ZedekiahH6667 his brotherH251 kingH4427[H8686] over JudahH3063 and JerusalemH3389. [10]And when the year was out, king Nebuchadnezzar sent and brought him to Babylon with the precious vessels of the house of the Lord, and he made Zedekiah his brother king over Judah and Jerusalem.
[11]ZedekiahH6667 was oneH259 and twentyH6242 yearsH8141 oldH1121 when he began to reignH4427[H8800], and reignedH4427[H8804] elevenH259[H6240] yearsH8141 in JerusalemH3389. [11]Zedekiah was one and twenty year old, when he began to reign, and reigned eleven year in Jerusalem.
[12]And he didH6213[H8799] that which was evilH7451 in the sightH5869 of the LORDH3068 his GodH430, and humbledH3665[H8738] not himself beforeH6440 JeremiahH3414 the prophetH5030 speaking from the mouthH6310 of the LORDH3068. [12]And he did evil in the sight of the Lord his God, and humbled not himself before Jeremiah the prophet at the commandment of the Lord,
[13]And he also rebelledH4775[H8804] against kingH4428 NebuchadnezzarH5019, who had made him swearH7650[H8689] by GodH430: but he stiffenedH7185[H8686] his neckH6203, and hardenedH553[H8762] his heartH3824 from turningH7725[H8800] unto the LORDH3068 GodH430 of IsraelH3478. [13]But he rebelled moreover against Nebuchadnezzar, which had caused him to swear by God: and he hardened his neck and made his heart obstinate that he might not return to the Lord God of Israel.
[14]Moreover all the chiefH8269 of the priestsH3548, and the peopleH5971, transgressedH4603[H8800] veryH4604 muchH7235[H8689] after all the abominationsH8441 of the heathenH1471; and pollutedH2930[H8762] the houseH1004 of the LORDH3068 which he had hallowedH6942[H8689] in JerusalemH3389. [14]All the chief of the priests also and of the people trespassed wonderfully, according to all the abominations of the heathen, and polluted the house of the Lord which he had sanctified in Jerusalem.
[15]And the LORDH3068 GodH430 of their fathersH1 sentH7971[H8799] to them byH3027 his messengersH4397, rising up betimesH7925[H8687], and sendingH7971[H8800]; because he had compassionH2550[H8804] on his peopleH5971, and on his dwelling placeH4583: [15]Therefore the Lord God of their fathers sent to them by his messengers, rising early and sending: for he had compassion on his people, and on his habitation.
[16]But they mockedH3931[H8688] the messengersH4397 of GodH430, and despisedH959[H8802] his wordsH1697, and misusedH8591[H8700] his prophetsH5030, until the wrathH2534 of the LORDH3068 aroseH5927[H8800] against his peopleH5971, till there was no remedyH4832. [16]But they mocked the messengers of God and despised his words, and misused his prophets, until the wrath of the Lord arose against his people, and till there was no remedy.
[17]Therefore he broughtH5927[H8686] upon them the kingH4428 of the ChaldeesH3778, who slewH2026[H8799] their young menH970 with the swordH2719 in the houseH1004 of their sanctuaryH4720, and had no compassionH2550[H8804] upon young manH970 or maidenH1330, old manH2205, or him that stooped for ageH3486: he gaveH5414[H8804] them all into his handH3027. [17]For he brought upon them the king of the Chaldeans, who slew their young men with the sword in the house of their sanctuary, and spared neither young man, nor virgin, ancient, nor aged. God gave all into his hand,
[18]And all the vesselsH3627 of the houseH1004 of GodH430, greatH1419 and smallH6996, and the treasuresH214 of the houseH1004 of the LORDH3068, and the treasuresH214 of the kingH4428, and of his princesH8269; all these he broughtH935[H8689] to BabylonH894. [18]And all the vessels of the house of God great and small, and the treasures of the house of the Lord, and the treasures of the king, and of his princes: all these carried he to Babylon.
[19]And they burntH8313[H8799] the houseH1004 of GodH430, and brake downH5422[H8762] the wallH2346 of JerusalemH3389, and burntH8313[H8804] all the palacesH759 thereof with fireH784, and destroyedH7843[H8687] all the goodlyH4261 vessels thereofH3627. [19]And they burned the house of God, and break down the wall of Jerusalem, and burned all the palaces thereof with fire, and all the precious vessels thereof, to destroy all.
[20]And them that had escapedH7611 from the swordH2719 carried he awayH1540[H8686] to BabylonH894; where they were servantsH5650 to him and his sonsH1121 until the reignH4427[H8800] of the kingdomH4438 of PersiaH6539: [20]And they that were left by the sword, carried he away to Babylon, and they were servants to him and to his sons, until the kingdom of the Persians had rule,
[21]To fulfilH4390[H8763] the wordH1697 of the LORDH3068 by the mouthH6310 of JeremiahH3414, until the landH776 had enjoyedH7521[H8804] her sabbathsH7676: for as long asH3117 she lay desolateH8074[H8715] she kept sabbathH7673[H8804], to fulfilH4390[H8763] threescore and tenH7657 yearsH8141. [21]To fulfill the word of the Lord by the mouth of Jeremiah, until the land had her fill of her Sabbaths: for all the days that she lay desolate, she kept Sabbath, to fulfill seventy years.
[22]Now in the firstH259 yearH8141 of CyrusH3566 kingH4428 of PersiaH6539, that the wordH1697 of the LORDH3068 spoken by the mouthH6310 of JeremiahH3414 might be accomplishedH3615[H8800], the LORDH3068 stirred upH5782[H8689] the spiritH7307 of CyrusH3566 kingH4428 of PersiaH6539, that he made a proclamationH5674[H8686][H6963] throughout all his kingdomH4438, and put it also in writingH4385, sayingH559,[H8800] [22]But in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia (when the word of the Lord, spoken by the mouth of Jeremiah, was finished) the Lord stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, and he made a proclamation through all his kingdom, and also by writing, saying,
[23]Thus saithH559[H8804] CyrusH3566 kingH4428 of PersiaH6539, All the kingdomsH4467 of the earthH776 hath the LORDH3068 GodH430 of heavenH8064 givenH5414[H8804] me; and he hath chargedH6485[H8804] me to buildH1129[H8800] him an houseH1004 in JerusalemH3389, which is in JudahH3063. Who is there among you of all his peopleH5971? The LORDH3068 his GodH430 be with him, and let him go upH5927.[H8799] [23]Thus saith Cyrus king of Persia, All the kingdoms of the earth hath the Lord God of heaven given me, and hath commanded me to build him an house in Jerusalem, that is in Judah. Who is among you of all his people, with whom the Lord his God is? Let him go up.
