[1]And when Solomon had made an end of praying, fire came down from heaven, and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices: and the glory of the Lord filled the house, |
| [2]And the priestsH3548 couldH3201[H8804] not enterH935[H8800] into the houseH1004 of the LORDH3068, because the gloryH3519 of the LORDH3068 had filledH4390[H8804] the LORD'SH3068 houseH1004. |
[2]So that the priests could not enter into the house of the Lord, because the glory of the Lord had filled the Lord's house. |
| [3]And when all the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478 sawH7200[H8802] how the fireH784 came downH3381[H8800], and the gloryH3519 of the LORDH3068 upon the houseH1004, they bowedH3766[H8799] themselves with their facesH639 to the groundH776 upon the pavementH7531, and worshippedH7812[H8691], and praisedH3034[H8687] the LORDH3068, saying, For he is goodH2896; for his mercyH2617 endureth for everH5769. |
[3]And when all the children of Israel saw the fire, and the glory of the Lord come down upon the house, they bowed themselves with their faces to the earth upon the pavement, and worshiped and praised the Lord, saying, For he is good, because his mercy lasteth forever. |
| [4]Then the kingH4428 and all the peopleH5971 offeredH2076[H8802] sacrificesH2077 beforeH6440 the LORDH3068. |
[4]Then the king and all the people offered sacrifices before the Lord. |
| [5]And kingH4428 SolomonH8010 offeredH2076[H8799] a sacrificeH2077 of twentyH6242 and twoH8147 thousandH505 oxenH1241, and an hundredH3967 and twentyH6242 thousandH505 sheepH6629: so the kingH4428 and all the peopleH5971 dedicatedH2596[H8799] the houseH1004 of GodH430. |
[5]And king Solomon offered a sacrifice of two and twenty thousand bullocks, and an hundred and twenty thousand sheep. So the king and all the people dedicated the house of God. |
| [6]And the priestsH3548 waitedH5975[H8802] on their officesH4931: the LevitesH3881 also with instrumentsH3627 of musickH7892 of the LORDH3068, which DavidH1732 the kingH4428 had madeH6213[H8804] to praiseH3034[H8687] the LORDH3068, because his mercyH2617 endureth for everH5769, when DavidH1732 praisedH1984[H8763] by their ministryH3027; and the priestsH3548 sounded trumpetsH2690[H8688][H8675][H2690][H8764] before them, and all IsraelH3478 stoodH5975.[H8802] |
[6]And the priests waited on their offices, and the Levites with the instruments of music of the Lord, which king David had made to praise the Lord, because his mercy lasteth forever: when David praised God by them, the priests also blew trumpets over against them: and all they of Israel stood by. |
| [7]Moreover SolomonH8010 hallowedH6942[H8762] the middleH8432 of the courtH2691 that was beforeH6440 the houseH1004 of the LORDH3068: for there he offeredH6213[H8804] burnt offeringsH5930, and the fatH2459 of the peace offeringsH8002, because the brasenH5178 altarH4196 which SolomonH8010 had madeH6213[H8804] was not ableH3201[H8804] to receiveH3557[H8687] the burnt offeringsH5930, and the meat offeringsH4503, and the fatH2459. |
[7]Moreover Solomon hallowed the middle of the court that was before the house of the Lord: for there he had prepared burnt offerings, and the fat of the peace offerings, because the brazen altar which Solomon had made, was not able to receive the burnt offering, and the meat offering, and the fat. |
| [8]Also at the same timeH6256 SolomonH8010 keptH6213[H8799] the feastH2282 sevenH7651 daysH3117, and all IsraelH3478 with him, a veryH3966 greatH1419 congregationH6951, from the entering inH935[H8800] of HamathH2574 unto the riverH5158 of EgyptH4714. |
[8]And Solomon made a feast at that time of seven days, and all Israel with him, a very great congregation, from the entering in of Hamath, unto the river of Egypt. |
| [9]And in the eighthH8066 dayH3117 they madeH6213[H8799] a solemn assemblyH6116: for they keptH6213[H8804] the dedicationH2598 of the altarH4196 sevenH7651 daysH3117, and the feastH2282 sevenH7651 daysH3117. |
[9]And in the eighth day they made a solemn assembly: for they had made the dedication of the altar seven days, and the feast seven days. |
| [10]And on the threeH7969 and twentiethH6242 dayH3117 of the seventhH7637 monthH2320 he sentH7971 the peopleH5971 awayH7971[H8765] into their tentsH168, gladH8056 and merryH2896 in heartH3820 for the goodnessH2896 that the LORDH3068 had shewedH6213[H8804] unto DavidH1732, and to SolomonH8010, and to IsraelH3478 his peopleH5971. |
[10]And the three and twentieth day of the seventh month, he sent the people away into their tents, joyous and with glad heart, because of the goodness that the Lord had done for David and for Solomon, and for Israel his people. |
| [11]Thus SolomonH8010 finishedH3615[H8762] the houseH1004 of the LORDH3068, and the king'sH4428 houseH1004: and all that cameH935[H8802] into Solomon'sH8010 heartH3820 to makeH6213[H8800] in the houseH1004 of the LORDH3068, and in his own houseH1004, he prosperously effectedH6743.[H8689] |
[11]So Solomon finished the house of the Lord, and the king's house, and all that came into Solomon's heart to make in the house of the Lord: and he prospered in his house. |
| [12]And the LORDH3068 appearedH7200[H8735] to SolomonH8010 by nightH3915, and saidH559[H8799] unto him, I have heardH8085[H8804] thy prayerH8605, and have chosenH977[H8804] this placeH4725 to myself for an houseH1004 of sacrificeH2077. |
[12]And the Lord appeared to Solomon by night and said to him, I have heard thy prayer, and have chosen this place for myself to be an house of sacrifice. |
| [13]IfH2005 I shut upH6113[H8799] heavenH8064 that there be no rainH4306, or if I commandH6680[H8762] the locustsH2284 to devourH398[H8800] the landH776, or if I sendH7971[H8762] pestilenceH1698 among my peopleH5971; |
[13]If I shut the heaven that there be no rain, or if I command the grasshopper to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among my people, |
| [14]If my peopleH5971, which are calledH7121[H8738] by my nameH8034, shall humbleH3665[H8735] themselves, and prayH6419[H8691], and seekH1245[H8762] my faceH6440, and turnH7725[H8799] from their wickedH7451 waysH1870; then will I hearH8085[H8799] from heavenH8064, and will forgiveH5545[H8799] their sinH2403, and will healH7495[H8799] their landH776. |
[14]If my people, among whom my name is called upon, do humble themselves, and pray, and seek my presence, and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear in heaven, and be merciful to their sin, and will heal their land: |
| [15]Now mine eyesH5869 shall be openH6605[H8803], and mine earsH241 attentH7183 unto the prayerH8605 that is made in this placeH4725. |
[15]Then mine eyes shall be open and mine ears attent unto the prayer made in this place. |
| [16]For now have I chosenH977[H8804] and sanctifiedH6942[H8689] this houseH1004, that my nameH8034 may be there forH5704 everH5769: and mine eyesH5869 and mine heartH3820 shall be there perpetuallyH3117. |
[16]For I have now chosen and sanctified this house, that my name may be there forever: and mine eyes and mine heart shall be there perpetually. |
| [17]And as for thee, if thou wilt walkH3212[H8799] beforeH6440 me, as DavidH1732 thy fatherH1 walkedH1980[H8804], and doH6213[H8800] according to all that I have commandedH6680[H8765] thee, and shalt observeH8104[H8799] my statutesH2706 and my judgmentsH4941; |
[17]And if thou wilt walk before me, as David thy father walked, to do according unto all that I have commanded thee, and shalt observe my statutes and my judgments, |
| [18]Then will I stablishH6965[H8689] the throneH3678 of thy kingdomH4438, according as I have covenantedH3772[H8804] with DavidH1732 thy fatherH1, sayingH559[H8800], There shall not failH3772[H8735] thee a manH376 to be rulerH4910[H8802] in IsraelH3478. |
[18]Then will I stablish the throne of thy kingdom, according as I made the covenant with David thy father, saying, Thou shalt not want a man to be ruler in Israel. |
| [19]But if ye turn awayH7725[H8799], and forsakeH5800[H8804] my statutesH2708 and my commandmentsH4687, which I have setH5414[H8804] beforeH6440 you, and shall goH1980[H8804] and serveH5647[H8804] otherH312 godsH430, and worshipH7812 themH8694; |
[19]But if ye turn away, and forsake my statutes and my commandments which I have set before you, and shall go and serve other gods, and worship them, |
| [20]Then will I pluck them up by the rootsH5428[H8804] out of my landH127 which I have givenH5414[H8804] them; and this houseH1004, which I have sanctifiedH6942[H8689] for my nameH8034, will I cast outH7993[H8686] of my sightH6440, and will makeH5414[H8799] it to be a proverbH4912 and a bywordH8148 among all nationsH5971. |
[20]Then will I pluck them up out of my land, which I have given them, and this house which I have sanctified for my name, will I cast out of my sight, and will make it to be a proverb and a common talk among all people. |
| [21]And this houseH1004, which is highH5945, shall be an astonishmentH8074[H8799] to every one that passethH5674[H8802] by it; so that he shall sayH559[H8804], Why hath the LORDH3068 doneH6213[H8804] thus unto this landH776, and unto this houseH1004? |
[21]And this house which is most high, shall be an astonishment to every one that passeth by it, so that he shall say, Why hath the Lord done thus to this land, and to this house? |
| [22]And it shall be answeredH559[H8804], Because they forsookH5800[H8804] the LORDH3068 GodH430 of their fathersH1, which brought them forthH3318[H8689] out of the landH776 of EgyptH4714, and laid holdH2388[H8686] on otherH312 godsH430, and worshippedH7812[H8691] them, and servedH5647[H8799] them: therefore hath he broughtH935[H8689] all this evil upon themH7451. |
[22]And they shall answer, Because they forsook the Lord God of their fathers, which brought them out of the land of Egypt, and have taken hold on other gods, and have worshiped them, and served them, therefore hath he brought all this evil upon them. |
