Peshitta NT (Etheridge, 1849)
PesNT(Eth)
[1]We make known to you but brethren the grace of Alaha that is given to the assemblies of Maqedonia [1]BUT we make known to you, my brethren, the grace of Aloha which hath been given to the churches of Makedunia;
[2]That in the trials many of their afflictions an abundance there was to their joy and the depth of their poverty was made to superabound in the wealth of their generosity [2]That in the great trial of their affliction there hath been an abounding of their joy; and the depth of their poverty hath been exceeded by the riches of their simplicity.
[3]Testify I for that according to their power and more than their power in the willingness of their soul [3]For I testify, that according to their power, and more than their power, in the willingness of their soul,
[4]They sought of us with entreaty much that they may share in the grace of the ministry of the holy ones [4]They besought of us, with much supplication, that they might participate in the beneficence of the ministry for the saints.
[5]And not as when we hoped were but themselves offered first to our Lord and also to us in the will of Alaha [5]And not as we had supposed, but they gave themselves up first to the Lord, and also to us by the will of Aloha.
[6]That we would seek from Titus that as he began thus he would finish in you also grace this [6]For we would request of Titos, that as he had begun, so he would carry into accomplishment this beneficence among you also.
[7]But just as in everything abound you in faith and in the word and in knowledge and in all diligence and in our love that is for you in this way also in this grace you shall abound [7]But as you have excelled in every thing, in faith, and in doctrine, and in knowledge, and in all diligence, and in our love toward you, so also in this beneficence may you excel.
[8]Not am to command commanding I to you but by the diligence of your companions the truth of your love to test I [8]Not as though commanding I command you, but, from the diligence of your companions, the truth of your love would I put to the test.
[9]Know you for the grace of our Lord Ieshu The Messiah Who for your sake He became poor when He was rich that you by His poverty would become rich [9]FOR you know the beneficence of our Lord Jeshu Meshiha, that for your sake he became poor, though he was rich, that you through his poverty might be enriched.
[10]To counsel but counsel I you this to help you because that from last year you began not to purpose only but also to do [10]But counselling I counsel you this which helpeth you; because from the last year you began not to will only, but also to do.
[11]Now but finish in works that thing that you wanted that as that was to you eagerness to desire so in works you may complete from what have you [11]But now accomplish in work that which you willed, that as there hath been an incitement to will, so accomplish it in work from what you have.
[12]If for willingness there is according to what has he so it is accepted not it is according to what has not he [12]For if there be the will, according to what one hath, so is [he] accepted, and not according to what he hath not.
[13]Not has been for that to others would be relief and to you distress [13]Neither must there be to others ease, and to you anxiety,
[14]But together be at time this that your abundance yours would be to their lack that these things that also their abundance that those things would be for your lack yours that there would be equality [14]But in equality be you at this time; that your abundance may be a supply to their want, that also [on another occasion] their abundance may be for [a supply] to your want, that there may be equality.
[15]As that is written "he who increased took no surplus to him and he who little took not was deprived to him [15]As it is written, He who took up much had no superfluity, and he who took up little was not deficient.
[16]Thank but to Alaha Who gave concern this for you to the heart of Titus [16]But praise to Aloha who in-gave this solicitude for you to the heart of Titos.
[17]Our request for he accepted and because greatly was concerned to him from his desire he went out among you [17]For our request he accepted; and because he had great concern, of his own will he hath come forth among you.
[18]We sent but with Him our brother him whose praise is in the gospel in all the churches [18]But we have sent with him our brother, whose praise in the gospel is in all the churches;
[19]In this way also to choose he was chosen from the churches to go out with us in grace this of ministry from us for the glory His of Alaha and for our encouragement our own [19]Who hath, moreover, been chosen by the churches to go forth with us with this bounty which is ministered by us to the glory of Aloha himself, and unto [the proof of] our cordiality.
[20]We fear but in this lest anyone may impute to us a flaw in this abundance that is administered by us [20]For we are precautious in this, that no one should lay upon us any imputation with regard to this great bounty which is to be administered by us.
[21]We take care of for what is right not before Alaha only but also before the children of men [21]For we are careful for the things which are comely, not only before Aloha, but also before men.
[22]We sent but with them also our brother who by us was proved in every time in many things that diligent he is now but all the more is diligent by the trust of many for you [22]But we have also sent with them our brother, whom we have often proved in many [undertakings] to be diligent; but now still more diligent from the great confidence he hath concerning you.
[23]If therefore Titus partner is my and helper among you and if our brethren other apostles are of the churches of the glory of The Messiah [23]Whether, then, [you regard] Titos, he is my companion and helper among you, or the other brethren, they are the apostles of the churches of the glory of Meshiha.
[24]From now on the demonstration of your love and our pride that is in you among them show in the presence of the churches all [24]Wherefore the demonstration of your love, and of our boasting concerning you in these, [things] make manifest in the sight of all the churches.
