| [2]וַיַּעַשׂ הָרַע בְּעֵינֵי יְהוָה וַיֵּלֶךְ אַחַר חַטֹּאת יָרָבְעָם בֶּן־נְבָט אֲשֶׁר־הֶחֱטִיא אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵל לֹא־סָר מִמֶּנָּה׃ |
[2]And he didH6213[H8799] that which was evilH7451 in the sightH5869 of the LORDH3068, and followedH3212[H8799][H310] the sinsH2403 of JeroboamH3379 the sonH1121 of NebatH5028, which made IsraelH3478 to sinH2398[H8689]; he departedH5493 not therefromH8804. |
| [3]וַיִּחַר־אַף יְהוָה בְּיִשְׂרָאֵל וַיִּתְּנֵם בְּיַד חֲזָאֵל מֶלֶךְ־אֲרָם וּבְיַד בֶּן־הֲדַד בֶּן־חֲזָאֵל כָּל־הַיָּמִים׃ |
[3]And the angerH639 of the LORDH3068 was kindledH2734[H8799] against IsraelH3478, and he deliveredH5414[H8799] them into the handH3027 of HazaelH2371 kingH4428 of SyriaH758, and into the handH3027 of BenhadadH1130 the sonH1121 of HazaelH2371, all their daysH3117. |
| [4]וַיְחַל יְהֹואָחָז אֶת־פְּנֵי יְהוָה וַיִּשְׁמַע אֵלָיו יְהוָה כִּי רָאָה אֶת־לַחַץ יִשְׂרָאֵל כִּי־לָחַץ אֹתָם מֶלֶךְ אֲרָם׃ |
[4]And JehoahazH3059 besoughtH2470[H8762] the LORDH3068, and the LORDH3068 hearkenedH8085[H8799] untoH6440 him: for he sawH7200[H8804] the oppressionH3906 of IsraelH3478, because the kingH4428 of SyriaH758 oppressedH3905 themH8804. |
| [5]וַיִּתֵּן יְהוָה לְיִשְׂרָאֵל מֹושִׁיעַ וַיֵּצְאוּ מִתַּחַת יַד־אֲרָם וַיֵּשְׁבוּ בְנֵי־יִשְׂרָאֵל בְּאָהֳלֵיהֶם כִּתְמֹול שִׁלְשֹׁום׃ |
[5](And the LORDH3068 gaveH5414[H8799] IsraelH3478 a saviourH3467[H8688], so that they went outH3318[H8799] from under the handH3027 of the SyriansH758: and the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478 dweltH3427[H8799] in their tentsH168, as beforetimeH8032.[H8543] |
| [6]אַךְ לֹא־סָרוּ מֵחַטֹּאות בֵּית־יָרָבְעָם אֲשֶׁר־הֶחֱטִי [Q: הֶחֱטִיא] אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵל בָּהּ הָלָךְ וְגַם הָאֲשֵׁרָה עָמְדָה בְּשֹׁמְרֹון׃ |
[6]Nevertheless they departedH5493[H8804] not from the sinsH2403 of the houseH1004 of JeroboamH3379, who made IsraelH3478 sinH2398[H8689], but walkedH1980[H8804] therein: and there remainedH5975[H8804] the groveH842 also in SamariaH8111.) |
| [7]כִּי לֹא הִשְׁאִיר לִיהֹואָחָז עָם כִּי אִם־חֲמִשִּׁים פָּרָשִׁים וַעֲשָׂרָה רֶכֶב וַעֲשֶׂרֶת אֲלָפִים רַגְלִי כִּי אִבְּדָם מֶלֶךְ אֲרָם וַיְשִׂםֵם כֶּעָפָר לָדֻשׁ׃ |
[7]Neither did he leaveH7604[H8689] of the peopleH5971 to JehoahazH3059 but fiftyH2572 horsemenH6571, and tenH6235 chariotsH7393, and tenH6235 thousandH505 footmenH7273; for the kingH4428 of SyriaH758 had destroyedH6[H8765] them, and had madeH7760[H8799] them like the dustH6083 by threshingH1758.[H8800] |
| [8]וְיֶתֶר דִּבְרֵי יְהֹואָחָז וְכָל־אֲשֶׁר עָשָׂה וּגְבוּרָתֹו הֲלֹוא־הֵם כְּתוּבִים עַל־סֵפֶר דִּבְרֵי הַיָּמִים לְמַלְכֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל׃ |
[8]Now the restH3499 of the actsH1697 of JehoahazH3059, and all that he didH6213[H8804], and his mightH1369, are they not writtenH3789[H8803] in the bookH5612 of the chroniclesH1697[H3117] of the kingsH4428 of IsraelH3478? |
| [9]וַיִּשְׁכַּב יְהֹואָחָז עִם־אֲבֹתָיו וַיִּקְבְּרֻהוּ בְּשֹׁמְרֹון וַיִּמְלֹךְ יֹואָשׁ בְּנֹו תַּחְתָּיו׃ |
[9]And JehoahazH3059 sleptH7901[H8799] with his fathersH1; and they buriedH6912[H8799] him in SamariaH8111: and JoashH3101 his sonH1121 reignedH4427 in his steadH8799. |
| [10]בִּשְׁנַת שְׁלֹשִׁים וָשֶׁבַע שָׁנָה לְיֹואָשׁ מֶלֶךְ יְהוּדָה מָלַךְ יְהֹואָשׁ בֶּן־יְהֹואָחָז עַל־יִשְׂרָאֵל בְּשֹׁמְרֹון שֵׁשׁ עֶשְׂרֵה שָׁנָה׃ |
[10]In the thirtyH7970[H8141] and seventhH7651 yearH8141 of JoashH3101 kingH4428 of JudahH3063 began JehoashH3060 the sonH1121 of JehoahazH3059 to reignH4427[H8804] over IsraelH3478 in SamariaH8111, and reigned sixteenH8337[H6240] yearsH8141. |
| [11]וַיַּעֲשֶׂה הָרַע בְּעֵינֵי יְהוָה לֹא סָר מִכָּל־חַטֹּאות יָרָבְעָם בֶּן־נְבָט אֲשֶׁר־הֶחֱטִיא אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵל בָּהּ הָלָךְ׃ |

[12]And the restH3499 of the actsH1697 of JoashH3101, and all that he didH6213[H8804], and his mightH1369 wherewith he foughtH3898[H8738] against AmaziahH558 kingH4428 of JudahH3063, are they not writtenH3789[H8803] in the bookH5612 of the chroniclesH1697[H3117] of the kingsH4428 of IsraelH3478? |
| [13]וַיִּשְׁכַּב יֹואָשׁ עִם־אֲבֹתָיו וְיָרָבְעָם יָשַׁב עַל־כִּסְאֹו וַיִּקָּבֵר יֹואָשׁ בְּשֹׁמְרֹון עִם מַלְכֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל׃ |
[13]And JoashH3101 sleptH7901[H8799] with his fathersH1; and JeroboamH3379 satH3427[H8804] upon his throneH3678: and JoashH3101 was buriedH6912[H8735] in SamariaH8111 with the kingsH4428 of IsraelH3478. |
| [14]וֶאֱלִישָׁע חָלָה אֶת־חָלְיֹו אֲשֶׁר יָמוּת בֹּו וַיֵּרֶד אֵלָיו יֹואָשׁ מֶלֶךְ־יִשְׂרָאֵל וַיֵּבְךְּ עַל־פָּנָיו וַיֹּאמַר אָבִי אָבִי רֶכֶב יִשְׂרָאֵל וּפָרָשָׁיו׃ |
[14]Now ElishaH477 was fallen sickH2470[H8804] of his sicknessH2483 whereof he diedH4191[H8799]. And JoashH3101 the kingH4428 of IsraelH3478 came downH3381[H8799] unto him, and weptH1058[H8799] over his faceH6440, and saidH559[H8799], O my fatherH1, my fatherH1, the chariotH7393 of IsraelH3478, and the horsemen thereofH6571. |
| [15]וַיֹּאמֶר לֹו אֱלִישָׁע קַח קֶשֶׁת וְחִצִּים וַיִּקַּח אֵלָיו קֶשֶׁת וְחִצִּים׃ |
[15]And ElishaH477 saidH559[H8799] unto him, TakeH3947[H8798] bowH7198 and arrowsH2671. And he tookH3947[H8799] unto him bowH7198 and arrowsH2671. |
| [16]וַיֹּאמֶר לְמֶלֶךְ יִשְׂרָאֵל הַרְכֵּב יָדְךָ עַל־הַקֶּשֶׁת וַיַּרְכֵּב יָדֹו וַיָּשֶׂם אֱלִישָׁע יָדָיו עַל־יְדֵי הַמֶּלֶךְ׃ |
[16]And he saidH559[H8799] to the kingH4428 of IsraelH3478, PutH7392[H8685] thine handH3027 upon the bowH7198. And he putH7392[H8686] his handH3027 upon it: and ElishaH477 putH7760[H8799] his handsH3027 upon the king'sH4428 handsH3027. |
| [17]וַיֹּאמֶר פְּתַח הַחַלֹּון קֵדְמָה וַיִּפְתָּח וַיֹּאמֶר אֱלִישָׁע יְרֵה וַיֹּור וַיֹּאמֶר חֵץ־תְּשׁוּעָה לַיהוָה וְחֵץ תְּשׁוּעָה בַאֲרָם וְהִכִּיתָ אֶת־אֲרָם בַּאֲפֵק עַד־כַּלֵּה׃ |
[17]And he saidH559[H8799], OpenH6605[H8798] the windowH2474 eastwardH6924. And he openedH6605[H8799] it. Then ElishaH477 saidH559[H8799], ShootH3384[H8798]. And he shotH3384[H8686]. And he saidH559[H8799], The arrowH2671 of the LORD'SH3068 deliveranceH8668, and the arrowH2671 of deliveranceH8668 from SyriaH758: for thou shalt smiteH5221[H8689] the SyriansH758 in AphekH663, till thou have consumedH3615 themH8763. |
| [18]וַיֹּאמֶר קַח הַחִצִּים וַיִּקָּח וַיֹּאמֶר לְמֶלֶךְ־יִשְׂרָאֵל הַךְ־אַרְצָה וַיַּךְ שָׁלֹשׁ־פְּעָמִים וַיַּעֲמֹד׃ |
[18]And he saidH559[H8799], TakeH3947[H8798] the arrowsH2671. And he tookH3947[H8799] them. And he saidH559[H8799] unto the kingH4428 of IsraelH3478, SmiteH5221[H8685] upon the groundH776. And he smoteH5221[H8686] thriceH7969[H6471], and stayedH5975.[H8799] |
| [19]וַיִּקְצֹף עָלָיו אִישׁ הָאֱלֹהִים וַיֹּאמֶר לְהַכֹּות חָמֵשׁ אֹו־שֵׁשׁ פְּעָמִים אָז הִכִּיתָ אֶת־אֲרָם עַד־כַּלֵּה וְעַתָּה שָׁלֹשׁ פְּעָמִים תַּכֶּה אֶת־אֲרָם׃ |
[19]And the manH376 of GodH430 was wrothH7107[H8799] with him, and saidH559[H8799], Thou shouldest have smittenH5221[H8687] fiveH2568 or sixH8337 timesH6471; then hadst thou smittenH5221[H8689] SyriaH758 till thou hadst consumedH3615[H8763] it: whereas now thou shalt smiteH5221[H8686] SyriaH758 but thriceH7969.[H6471] |
| [20]וַיָּמָת אֱלִישָׁע וַיִּקְבְּרֻהוּ וּגְדוּדֵי מֹואָב יָבֹאוּ בָאָרֶץ בָּא שָׁנָה׃ |
[20]And ElishaH477 diedH4191[H8799], and they buriedH6912[H8799] him. And the bandsH1416 of the MoabitesH4124 invadedH935[H8799] the landH776 at the coming inH935[H8802] of the yearH8141. |
| [21]וַיְהִי הֵם קֹבְרִים אִישׁ וְהִנֵּה רָאוּ אֶת־הַגְּדוּד וַיַּשְׁלִיכוּ אֶת־הָאִישׁ בְּקֶבֶר אֱלִישָׁע וַיֵּלֶךְ וַיִּגַּע הָאִישׁ בְּעַצְמֹות אֱלִישָׁע וַיְחִי וַיָּקָם עַל־רַגְלָיו׃ |
[21]And it came to pass, as they were buryingH6912[H8802] a manH376, that, behold, they spiedH7200[H8804] a bandH1416 of men; and they castH7993[H8686] the manH376 into the sepulchreH6913 of ElishaH477: and when the manH376 was let downH3212[H8799], and touchedH5060[H8799] the bonesH6106 of ElishaH477, he revivedH2421[H8799], and stood upH6965[H8799] on his feetH7272. |
| [22]וַחֲזָאֵל מֶלֶךְ אֲרָם לָחַץ אֶת־יִשְׂרָאֵל כֹּל יְמֵי יְהֹואָחָז׃ |
[22]But HazaelH2371 kingH4428 of SyriaH758 oppressedH3905[H8804] IsraelH3478 all the daysH3117 of JehoahazH3059. |
| [23]וַיָּחָן יְהוָה אֹתָם וַיְרַחֲםֵם וַיִּפֶן אֲלֵיהֶם לְמַעַן בְּרִיתֹו אֶת־אַבְרָהָם יִצְחָק וְיַעֲקֹב וְלֹא אָבָה הַשְׁחִיתָם וְלֹא־הִשְׁלִיכָם מֵעַל־פָּנָיו עַד־עָתָּה׃ |
[23]And the LORDH3068 was graciousH2603[H8799] unto them, and had compassionH7355[H8762] on them, and had respectH6437[H8799] unto them, because ofH4616 his covenantH1285 with AbrahamH85, IsaacH3327, and JacobH3290, and wouldH14[H8804] not destroyH7843[H8687] them, neither castH7993[H8689] he them from his presenceH6440 as yetH5704. |
| [24]וַיָּמָת חֲזָאֵל מֶלֶךְ־אֲרָם וַיִּמְלֹךְ בֶּן־הֲדַד בְּנֹו תַּחְתָּיו׃ |
[24]So HazaelH2371 kingH4428 of SyriaH758 diedH4191[H8799]; and BenhadadH1130 his sonH1121 reignedH4427 in his steadH8799. |
| [25]וַיָּשָׁב יְהֹואָשׁ בֶּן־יְהֹואָחָז וַיִּקַּח אֶת־הֶעָרִים מִיַּד בֶּן־הֲדַד בֶּן־חֲזָאֵל אֲשֶׁר לָקַח מִיַּד יְהֹואָחָז אָבִיו בַּמִּלְחָמָה שָׁלֹשׁ פְּעָמִים הִכָּהוּ יֹואָשׁ וַיָּשֶׁב אֶת־עָרֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל׃ |
[25]And JehoashH3060 the sonH1121 of JehoahazH3059 tookH3947[H8799] againH7725[H8799] out of the handH3027 of BenhadadH1130 the sonH1121 of HazaelH2371 the citiesH5892, which he had takenH3947[H8804] out of the handH3027 of JehoahazH3059 his fatherH1 by warH4421. ThreeH7969 timesH6471 did JoashH3101 beatH5221[H8689] him, and recoveredH7725[H8686] the citiesH5892 of IsraelH3478. |
