[1]In the seventeenthH7651[H6240][H8141] yearH8141 of PekahH6492 the sonH1121 of RemaliahH7425 AhazH271 the sonH1121 of JothamH3147 kingH4428 of JudahH3063 began to reignH4427.[H8804] |
[1]In the seventeenth year of Pekah the son of Remaliah Ahaz the son of Jotham king of Judah began to reign. |
[2]TwentyH6242 yearsH8141 oldH1121 was AhazH271 when he began to reignH4427[H8800], and reignedH4427[H8804] sixteenH8337[H6240] yearsH8141 in JerusalemH3389, and didH6213[H8804] not that which was rightH3477 in the sightH5869 of the LORDH3068 his GodH430, like DavidH1732 his fatherH1. |
[2]Twenty years old was Ahaz when he began to reign; and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem; and he did not that which was right in the eyes of 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇 his God, like David his father. |
[3]But he walkedH3212[H8799] in the wayH1870 of the kingsH4428 of IsraelH3478, yea, and made his sonH1121 to pass throughH5674[H8689] the fireH784, according to the abominationsH8441 of the heathenH1471, whom the LORDH3068 cast outH3423[H8689] from beforeH6440 the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478. |
[3]But he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, yea, and made his son to pass through the fire, according to the abominations of the heathen, whom 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇 cast out from before the children of Israel. |
[4]And he sacrificedH2076[H8762] and burnt incenseH6999[H8762] in the high placesH1116, and on the hillsH1389, and under every greenH7488 treeH6086. |
[4]And he sacrificed and offered in the high places, and on the hills, and under every leafy tree. |
[5]Then RezinH7526 kingH4428 of SyriaH758 and PekahH6492 sonH1121 of RemaliahH7425 kingH4428 of IsraelH3478 came upH5927[H8799] to JerusalemH3389 to warH4421: and they besiegedH6696[H8799] AhazH271, but couldH3201[H8804] not overcomeH3898 himH8736. |
[5]Then Rezin king of Aram and Pekah son of Remaliah king of Israel came up to Jerusalem to war; and they besieged Ahaz, but could not overcome him. |
[6]At that timeH6256 RezinH7526 kingH4428 of SyriaH758 recoveredH7725[H8689] ElathH359 to SyriaH758[H8675][H130], and draveH5394[H8762] the JewsH3064 from ElathH359: and the SyriansH726 cameH935[H8804] to ElathH359, and dweltH3427[H8799] there unto this dayH3117. |
[6]At that time Rezin king of Aram recovered Elath to Aram, and drove the Jews from Elath; and the Edomites came to Elath, and dwelt there, unto this day. |
[7]So AhazH271 sentH7971[H8799] messengersH4397 to TiglathpileserH8407 kingH4428 of AssyriaH804, sayingH559[H8800], I am thy servantH5650 and thy sonH1121: come upH5927[H8798], and saveH3467[H8685] me out of the handH3709 of the kingH4428 of SyriaH758, and out of the handH3709 of the kingH4428 of IsraelH3478, which rise upH6965 against meH8801. |
[7]So Ahaz sent messengers to Tiglath-pileser king of Assyria, saying: 'I am thy servant and thy son; come up, and save me out of the hand of the king of Aram, and out of the hand of the king of Israel, who rise up against me.' |
[8]And AhazH271 tookH3947[H8799] the silverH3701 and goldH2091 that was foundH4672[H8737] in the houseH1004 of the LORDH3068, and in the treasuresH214 of the king'sH4428 houseH1004, and sentH7971[H8799] it for a presentH7810 to the kingH4428 of AssyriaH804. |
[8]And Ahaz took the silver and gold that was found in the house of 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇, and in the treasures of the king's house, and sent it for a present to the king of Assyria. |
[9]And the kingH4428 of AssyriaH804 hearkenedH8085[H8799] unto him: for the kingH4428 of AssyriaH804 went upH5927[H8799] against DamascusH1834, and tookH8610[H8799] it, and carried the people of it captiveH1540[H8686] to KirH7024, and slewH4191[H8689] RezinH7526. |
[9]And the king of Assyria hearkened unto him; and the king of Assyria went up against Damascus, and took it, and carried the people of it captive to Kir, and slew Rezin. |
[10]And kingH4428 AhazH271 wentH3212[H8799] to DamascusH1834 to meetH7125[H8800] TiglathpileserH8407 kingH4428 of AssyriaH804, and sawH7200[H8799] an altarH4196 that was at DamascusH1834: and kingH4428 AhazH271 sentH7971[H8799] to UrijahH223 the priestH3548 the fashionH1823 of the altarH4196, and the patternH8403 of it, according to all the workmanship thereofH4639. |
[10]And king Ahaz went to Damascus to meet Tiglath-pileser king of Assyria, and saw the altar that was at Damascus; and king Ahaz sent to Urijah the priest the fashion of the altar, and the pattern of it, according to all the workmanship thereof. |
[11]And UrijahH223 the priestH3548 builtH1129[H8799] an altarH4196 according to all that kingH4428 AhazH271 had sentH7971[H8804] from DamascusH1834: so UrijahH223 the priestH3548 madeH6213[H8804] it against kingH4428 AhazH271 cameH935[H8800] from DamascusH1834. |
[11]And Urijah the priest built an altar; according to all that king Ahaz had sent from Damascus, so did Urijah the priest make it against the coming of king Ahaz from Damascus. |
[12]And when the kingH4428 was comeH935[H8799] from DamascusH1834, the kingH4428 sawH7200[H8799] the altarH4196: and the kingH4428 approachedH7126[H8799] to the altarH4196, and offeredH5927 thereonH8686. |
[12]And when the king was come from Damascus, the king saw the altar; and the king drew near unto the altar, and offered thereon. |
[13]And he burntH6999[H8686] his burnt offeringH5930 and his meat offeringH4503, and pouredH5258[H8686] his drink offeringH5262, and sprinkledH2236[H8799] the bloodH1818 of his peace offeringsH8002, upon the altarH4196. |
[13]And he offered his burnt-offering and his meal-offering, and poured his drink-offering, and dashed the blood of his peace-offerings against the altar. |
[14]And he broughtH7126[H8686] also the brasenH5178 altarH4196, which was beforeH6440 the LORDH3068, from the forefrontH6440 of the houseH1004, from between the altarH4196 and the houseH1004 of the LORDH3068, and putH5414[H8799] it on the northH6828 sideH3409 of the altarH4196. |
[14]And the brazen altar, which was before 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇, he brought from the forefront of the house, from between his altar and the house of 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇, and put it on the north side of his altar. |
[15]And kingH4428 AhazH271 commandedH6680[H8762] UrijahH223 the priestH3548, sayingH559[H8800], Upon the greatH1419 altarH4196 burnH6999[H8685] the morningH1242 burnt offeringH5930, and the eveningH6153 meat offeringH4503, and the king'sH4428 burnt sacrificeH5930, and his meat offeringH4503, with the burnt offeringH5930 of all the peopleH5971 of the landH776, and their meat offeringH4503, and their drink offeringsH5262; and sprinkleH2236[H8799] upon it all the bloodH1818 of the burnt offeringH5930, and all the bloodH1818 of the sacrificeH2077: and the brasenH5178 altarH4196 shall be for me to enquireH1239 byH8763. |
[15]And king Ahaz commanded Urijah the priest, saying: 'Upon the great altar offer the morning burnt-offering, and the evening meal-offering, and the king's burnt-offering, and his meal-offering, with the burnt-offering of all the people of the land, and their meal-offering, and their drink-offerings; and dash against it all the blood of the burnt-offering, and all the blood of the sacrifice; but the brazen altar shall be for me to look to.' |
[16]Thus didH6213[H8799] UrijahH223 the priestH3548, according to all that kingH4428 AhazH271 commandedH6680.[H8765] |
[16]Thus did Urijah the priest, according to all that king Ahaz commanded. |
[17]And kingH4428 AhazH271 cut offH7112[H8762] the bordersH4526 of the basesH4350, and removedH5493[H8686] the laverH3595 from off them; and took downH3381[H8689] the seaH3220 from off the brasenH5178 oxenH1241 that were under it, and putH5414[H8799] it upon a pavementH4837 of stonesH68. |
[17]And king Ahaz cut off the borders of the bases, and removed the laver from off them; and took down the sea from off the brazen oxen that were under it, and put it upon a pavement of stone. |
[18]And the covertH4329[H8675][H4329] for the sabbathH7676 that they had builtH1129[H8804] in the houseH1004, and the king'sH4428 entryH3996 withoutH2435, turnedH5437[H8689] he from the houseH1004 of the LORDH3068 forH6440 the kingH4428 of AssyriaH804. |
[18]And the covered place for the sabbath that they had built in the house, and the king's entry without, turned he unto the house of 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇, because of the king of Assyria. |
[19]Now the restH3499 of the actsH1697 of AhazH271 which he didH6213[H8804], are they not writtenH3789[H8803] in the bookH5612 of the chroniclesH1697[H3117] of the kingsH4428 of JudahH3063? |
[19]Now the rest of the acts of Ahaz which he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? |
[20]And AhazH271 sleptH7901[H8799] with his fathersH1, and was buriedH6912[H8735] with his fathersH1 in the cityH5892 of DavidH1732: and HezekiahH2396 his sonH1121 reignedH4427 in his steadH8799. |
[20]And Ahaz slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David; and Hezekiah his son reigned in his stead. |
