[1]And it came to pass in the ninthH8671 yearH8141 of his reignH4427[H8800], in the tenthH6224 monthH2320, in the tenthH6218 day of the monthH2320, that NebuchadnezzarH5019 kingH4428 of BabylonH894 cameH935[H8804], he, and all his hostH2428, against JerusalemH3389, and pitchedH2583[H8799] against it; and they builtH1129[H8799] fortsH1785 against it round aboutH5439. [1]And in the ninth year of his reign, the tenth month and tenth day of the month Neb-u-chad-nezzar king of Babylon came, he, and all his host against Jerusalem, and pitched against it, and they built forts against it round about it.
[2]And the cityH5892 was besiegedH935[H8799][H4692] unto the eleventhH6249[H6240] yearH8141 of kingH4428 ZedekiahH6667. [2]So the city was besieged unto the eleventh year of king Zedekiah.
[3]And on the ninthH8672 day of the fourth monthH2320 the famineH7458 prevailedH2388[H8799] in the cityH5892, and there was no breadH3899 for the peopleH5971 of the landH776. [3]And the ninth day of the month the famine was sore in the city, so that there was no bread for the people of the land.
[4]And the cityH5892 was broken upH1234[H8735], and all the menH582 of warH4421 fled by nightH3915 by the wayH1870 of the gateH8179 between two wallsH2346, which is by the king'sH4428 gardenH1588: (now the ChaldeesH3778 were against the cityH5892 round aboutH5439:) and the king wentH3212[H8799] the wayH1870 toward the plainH6160. [4]Then the city was broken up, and all the men of war fled by night, by the way of the gate, which is between two walls that was by the king's garden: now the Chaldeans were by the city round about: and the king went by the way of the wilderness.
[5]And the armyH2428 of the ChaldeesH3778 pursuedH7291[H8799] afterH310 the kingH4428, and overtookH5381[H8686] him in the plainsH6160 of JerichoH3405: and all his armyH2428 were scatteredH6327 from himH8738. [5]But the army of the Chaldeans pursued after the king, and took him in the deserts of Jericho, and all his host was scattered from him.
[6]So they tookH8610[H8799] the kingH4428, and brought him upH5927[H8686] to the kingH4428 of BabylonH894 to RiblahH7247; and they gaveH1696[H8762] judgment upon himH4941. [6]Then they took the king, and carried him up to the king of Babylon to Riblah, where they gave judgment upon him.
[7]And they slewH7819[H8804] the sonsH1121 of ZedekiahH6667 before his eyesH5869, and put outH5786[H8765] the eyesH5869 of ZedekiahH6667, and boundH631[H8799] him with fettersH5178 of brassH5178, and carriedH935[H8686] him to BabylonH894. [7]And they slew the sons of Zedekiah before his eyes, and put out the eyes of Zedekiah, and bound him in chains, and carried him to Babylon.
[8]And in the fifthH2549 monthH2320, on the seventhH7651 day of the monthH2320, which is the nineteenthH8672[H6240][H8141] yearH8141 of kingH4428 NebuchadnezzarH5019 kingH4428 of BabylonH894, cameH935[H8804] NebuzaradanH5018, captainH7227 of the guardH2876, a servantH5650 of the kingH4428 of BabylonH894, unto JerusalemH3389: [8]And in the fifth month, and seventh day of the month, which was the nineteenth year of king Neb-u-chad-nezzar king of Babylon, came Neb-uzaradan chief steward and servant of the king of Babylon, to Jerusalem,
[9]And he burntH8313[H8799] the houseH1004 of the LORDH3068, and the king'sH4428 houseH1004, and all the housesH1004 of JerusalemH3389, and every greatH1419 man's houseH1004 burntH8313[H8804] he with fireH784. [9]And burned the house of the Lord, and the king's house, and all the houses of Jerusalem, and all the great houses burned he with fire.
[10]And all the armyH2428 of the ChaldeesH3778, that were with the captainH7227 of the guardH2876, brake downH5422[H8804] the wallsH2346 of JerusalemH3389 round aboutH5439. [10]And all the army of the Chaldeans that were with the chief steward, break down the walls of Jerusalem round about.
[11]Now the restH3499 of the peopleH5971 that were leftH7604[H8737] in the cityH5892, and the fugitivesH5307[H8802] that fell awayH5307[H8804] to the kingH4428 of BabylonH894, with the remnantH3499 of the multitudeH1995, did NebuzaradanH5018 the captainH7227 of the guardH2876 carry awayH1540.[H8689] [11]And the rest of the people that were left in the city, and those that were fled and fallen to the king of Babylon, with the remnant of the multitude, did Nebuzar-adan chief steward carry away captive.
[12]But the captainH7227 of the guardH2876 leftH7604[H8689] of the poorH1803 of the landH776 to be vinedressersH3755 and husbandmenH3009[H8802][H8675][H1461].[H8801] [12]But the chief steward left of the poor of the land to dress the vines, and to till the land.
[13]And the pillarsH5982 of brassH5178 that were in the houseH1004 of the LORDH3068, and the basesH4350, and the brasenH5178 seaH3220 that was in the houseH1004 of the LORDH3068, did the ChaldeesH3778 break in piecesH7665[H8765], and carriedH5375[H8799] the brassH5178 of them to BabylonH894. [13]Also the pillars of brass that were in the house of the Lord, and the bases, and the brazen sea that was in the house of the Lord, did the Chaldeans break, and carried the brass of them to Babylon.
[14]And the potsH5518, and the shovelsH3257, and the snuffersH4212, and the spoonsH3709, and all the vesselsH3627 of brassH5178 wherewith they ministeredH8334[H8762], took they awayH3947.[H8804] [14]The pots also and the besoms, and the instruments of music, and the incense dishes, and all the vessels of brass that they ministered in, took they away.
[15]And the firepansH4289, and the bowlsH4219, and such things as were of goldH2091, in goldH2091, and of silverH3701, in silverH3701, the captainH7227 of the guardH2876 took awayH3947.[H8804] [15]And the ash pans, and the basins, and all that was of gold, and that was of silver, took the chief steward away,
[16]The twoH8147 pillarsH5982, oneH259 seaH3220, and the basesH4350 which SolomonH8010 had madeH6213[H8804] for the houseH1004 of the LORDH3068; the brassH5178 of all these vesselsH3627 was withoutH3808 weightH4948. [16]With the two pillars, one sea and the bases, which Solomon had made for the house of the Lord: the brass of all these vessels was without weight.
[17]The heightH6967 of the oneH259 pillarH5982 was eighteenH8083[H6240] cubitsH520, and the chapiterH3805 upon it was brassH5178: and the heightH6967 of the chapiterH3805 threeH7969 cubitsH520; and the wreathen workH7639, and pomegranatesH7416 upon the chapiterH3805 round aboutH5439, all of brassH5178: and like unto these had the secondH8145 pillarH5982 with wreathen workH7639. [17]The height of the one pillar was eighteen cubits, and the chapiter thereon was brass, and the height of the chapiter was with network three cubits, and pomegranates upon the chapiter round about, all of brass: and likewise was the second pillar with the network.
[18]And the captainH7227 of the guardH2876 tookH3947[H8799] SeraiahH8304 the chiefH7218 priestH3548, and ZephaniahH6846 the secondH4932 priestH3548, and the threeH7969 keepersH8104[H8802] of the doorH5592: [18]And the chief steward took Seraiah the chief priest, and Zephaniah the second priest, and the three keepers of the door.
[19]And out of the cityH5892 he tookH3947[H8804] anH259 officerH5631 that was setH6496 over the menH582 of warH4421, and fiveH2568 menH582 of them that wereH7200[H8802] in the king'sH4428 presenceH6440, which were foundH4672[H8738] in the cityH5892, and the principalH8269 scribeH5608[H8802] of the hostH6635, which musteredH6633[H8688] the peopleH5971 of the landH776, and threescoreH8346 menH376 of the peopleH5971 of the landH776 that were foundH4672[H8737] in the cityH5892: [19]And out of the city he took an eunuch that had the oversight of the men of war, and five men of them that were in the king's presence, which were found in the city, and Sopher captain of the host, who mustered the people of the land, and threescore men of the people of the land, that were found in the city.
[20]And NebuzaradanH5018 captainH7227 of the guardH2876 tookH3947[H8799] these, and broughtH3212[H8686] them to the kingH4428 of BabylonH894 to RiblahH7247: [20]And Neb-uzar-adan the chief steward took them, and brought them to the king of Babylon to Riblah.
[21]And the kingH4428 of BabylonH894 smoteH5221[H8686] them, and slewH4191[H8686] them at RiblahH7247 in the landH776 of HamathH2574. So JudahH3063 was carried awayH1540[H8799] out of their landH127. [21]And the king of Babylon smote them, and slew them at Riblah in the land of Hamath. So Judah was carried away captive out of his own land.
[22]And as for the peopleH5971 that remainedH7604[H8737] in the landH776 of JudahH3063, whom NebuchadnezzarH5019 kingH4428 of BabylonH894 had leftH7604[H8689], even over them he made GedaliahH1436 the sonH1121 of AhikamH296, the sonH1121 of ShaphanH8227, rulerH6485.[H8686] [22]Howbeit there remained people in the land of Judah, whom Neb-u-chadnezzar king of Babylon left, and made Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan ruler over them.
[23]And when all the captainsH8269 of the armiesH2428, they and their menH582, heardH8085[H8799] that the kingH4428 of BabylonH894 had made GedaliahH1436 governorH6485[H8689], there cameH935[H8799] to GedaliahH1436 to MizpahH4709, even IshmaelH3458 the sonH1121 of NethaniahH5418, and JohananH3110 the sonH1121 of CareahH7143, and SeraiahH8304 the sonH1121 of TanhumethH8576 the NetophathiteH5200, and JaazaniahH2970 the sonH1121 of a MaachathiteH4602, they and their menH582. [23]Then when all the captains of the host and their men heard, that the king of Babylon had made Gedaliah governor, they came to Gedaliah to Mizpah, to wit, Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and Johanan the son of Careah, and Seraiah the son of Tanhumeth the Netophathite, and Jaazaniah the son of Maachathi, they and their men.
[24]And GedaliahH1436 swareH7650[H8735] to them, and to their menH582, and saidH559[H8799] unto them, FearH3372[H8799] not to be the servantsH5650 of the ChaldeesH3778: dwellH3427[H8798] in the landH776, and serveH5647[H8798] the kingH4428 of BabylonH894; and it shall be wellH3190 with youH8799. [24]And Gedaliah swear to them, and to their men, and said unto them, Fear not to be the servants of the Chaldeans: dwell in the land, and serve the king of Babylon, and ye shall be well.
[25]But it came to pass in the seventhH7637 monthH2320, that IshmaelH3458 the sonH1121 of NethaniahH5418, the sonH1121 of ElishamaH476, of the seedH2233 royalH4410, cameH935[H8804], and tenH6235 menH582 with him, and smoteH5221[H8686] GedaliahH1436, that he diedH4191[H8799], and the JewsH3064 and the ChaldeesH3778 that were with him at MizpahH4709. [25]But in the seventh month Ishmael the son of Nethaniah the son of Elishama of the king's seed, came, and ten men with him, and smote Gedaliah, and he died, and so did he the Jews, and the Chaldeans that were with him at Mizpah.
[26]And all the peopleH5971, both smallH6996 and greatH1419, and the captainsH8269 of the armiesH2428, aroseH6965[H8799], and cameH935[H8799] to EgyptH4714: for they were afraidH3372[H8804] ofH6440 the ChaldeesH3778. [26]Then all the people both small and great, and the captains of the army arose, and came to Egypt: for they were afraid of the Chaldeans.
[27]And it came to pass in the sevenH7651 and thirtiethH7970 yearH8141 of the captivityH1546 of JehoiachinH3078 kingH4428 of JudahH3063, in the twelfthH8147[H6240] monthH2320, on the sevenH7651 and twentiethH6242 day of the monthH2320, that EvilmerodachH192 kingH4428 of BabylonH894 in the yearH8141 that he began to reignH4427[H8800] did lift upH5375[H8804] the headH7218 of JehoiachinH3078 kingH4428 of JudahH3063 H1004out of prisonH3608 [27]Notwithstanding in the seven and thirtieth year after Jehoiachin king of Judah was carried away, in the twelfth month and the seven and twentieth day of the month, Evil-merodach king of Babylon in the year that he began to reign, did lift up the head of Jehoiachin king of Judah out of the prison,
[28]And he spakeH1696[H8762] kindlyH2896 to him, and setH5414[H8799] his throneH3678 above the throneH3678 of the kingsH4428 that were with him in BabylonH894; [28]And spake kindly to him, and set his throne above the throne of the kings that were with him in Babylon,
[29]And changedH8132[H8765] his prisonH3608 garmentsH899: and he did eatH398[H8804] breadH3899 continuallyH8548 beforeH6440 him all the daysH3117 of his lifeH2416. [29]And changed his prison garments: and he did continually eat bread before him, all the days of his life.
[30]And his allowanceH737 was a continualH8548 allowanceH737 givenH5414[H8738] him of the kingH4428, a dailyH3117[H3117] rateH1697 for every dayH3117, all the daysH3117 of his lifeH2416. [30]And his portion was a continual portion given him by the king, every day a certain, all the days of his life.
