[1]And it came to pass, at the return of the year, at the time when kings go out to battle, that David sent Joab, and his servants with him, and all Israel; and they destroyed the children of Ammon, and besieged Rabbah. But David tarried at Jerusalem. |

[2]And it came to pass at eventide, that David arose from off his bed, and walked upon the roof of the king's house; and from the roof he saw a woman bathing; and the woman was very beautiful to look upon. |
| [3]καίC ἀποστέλλωVAI-AAI3S *δαυίδN--NSM καίC ζητέωVAI-AAI3S ὁRA-ASF γυνήN3K-ASF καίC εἶπονVBI-AAI3S οὐD οὗτοςRD-NSF *βηρσαβεεN--NSF θυγάτηρN3H-NSF *ελιαβN--GSF γυνήN3K-NSF *ουριαςN--GSM ὁRA-GSM *χετταῖοςN2-GSM |
[3]And David sent and inquired after the woman. And one said: 'Is not this Bath-sheba, the daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite?' |

[4]And David sent messengers, and took her; and she came in unto him, and he lay with her; for she wa purified from her uncleanness; and she returned unto her house. |
| [5]καίC ἐνP γαστήρN3-DSF λαμβάνωVBI-AAI3S ὁRA-NSF γυνήN3K-NSF καίC ἀποστέλλωVA-AAPNSF ἀποἀγγέλλωVAI-AAI3S ὁRA-DSM *δαυίδN--DSM καίC εἶπονVBI-AAI3S ἐγώRP-NSF εἰμίV9-PAI1S ἐνP γαστήρN3-DSF ἔχωV1-PAI1S |
[5]And the woman conceived; and she sent and told David, and said: 'I am with child.' |
| [6]καίC ἀποστέλλωVAI-AAI3S *δαυίδN--NSM πρόςP *ιωαβN--ASM λέγωV1-PAPNSM ἀποστέλλωVB-AAD2S πρόςP ἐγώRP-AS ὁRA-ASM *ουριαςN--ASM ὁRA-ASM *χετταῖοςN2-ASM καίC ἀποστέλλωVAI-AAI3S *ιωαβN--NSM ὁRA-ASM *ουριαςN--ASM πρόςP *δαυίδN--ASM |
[6]And David sent to Joab ,saying: 'Send me Uriah the Hittite.' And Joab sent Uriah to David. |
| [7]καίC παραγίγνομαιV1-PMI3S *ουριαςN--NSM καίC εἰςἔρχομαιVBI-AAI3S πρόςP αὐτόςRD-ASM καίC ἐπιἐρωτάωVAI-AAI3S *δαυίδN--NSM εἰςP εἰρήνηN1-ASF *ιωαβN--GSM καίC εἰςP εἰρήνηN1-ASF ὁRA-GSM λαόςN2-GSM καίC εἰςP εἰρήνηN1-ASF ὁRA-GSM πόλεμοςN2-GSM |
[7]And when Uriah was come unto him, David asked of him how Joab did, and how the people fared, and how the war prospered. |
| [8]καίC εἶπονVBI-AAI3S *δαυίδN--NSM ὁRA-DSM *ουριαςN--DSM καταβαίνωVZ-APD2S εἰςP ὁRA-ASM οἶκοςN2-ASM σύRP-GS καίC νίπτωVA-AAN ὁRA-APM πούςN3D-APM σύRP-GS καίC ἐκἔρχομαιVBI-AAI3S *ουριαςN--NSM ἐκP οἶκοςN2-GSM ὁRA-GSM βασιλεύςN3V-GSM καίC ἐκἔρχομαιVBI-AAI3S ὀπίσωD αὐτόςRD-GSM ἄρσιςN3I-NSF ὁRA-GSM βασιλεύςN3V-GSM |
[8]And David said to Uriah: 'Go down to thy house, and wash thy feet.' And Uriah departed out of the king's house, and there followed him a mess of food from the king. |
| [9]καίC κοιμάωVCI-API3S *ουριαςN--NSM παράP ὁRA-DSF θύραN1A-DSF ὁRA-GSM βασιλεύςN3V-GSM μετάP ὁRA-GPM δοῦλοςN2-GPM ὁRA-GSM κύριοςN2-GSM αὐτόςRD-GSM καίC οὐD καταβαίνωVZI-AAI3S εἰςP ὁRA-ASM οἶκοςN2-ASM αὐτόςRD-GSM |
[9]But Uriah slept at the door of the king's house with all the servants of his lord, and went not down to his house. |
| [10]καίC ἀναἀγγέλλωVAI-AAI3P ὁRA-DSM *δαυίδN--DSM λέγωV1-PAPNPM ὅτιC οὐD καταβαίνωVZI-AAI3S *ουριαςN--NSM εἰςP ὁRA-ASM οἶκοςN2-ASM αὐτόςRD-GSM καίC εἶπονVBI-AAI3S *δαυίδN--NSM πρόςP *ουριαςN--ASM οὐD ἐκP ὁδόςN2-GSF σύRP-NS ἔρχομαιV1-PMS2S τίςRI-ASN ὅτιC οὐD καταβαίνωVZI-AAI2S εἰςP ὁRA-ASM οἶκοςN2-ASM σύRP-GS |
[10]And when they had told David, saying: 'Uriah went not down unto his house', David said unto Uriah: 'Art thou not come from a journey? wherefore didst thou not go down unto thy house?' |

[11]And Uriah said unto David: 'The ark, and Israel, and Judah, abide in booths; and my lord Joab, and the servants of my lord, are encamped in the open field; shall I then go into my house, to eat and to drink, and to lie with my wife? as thou livest, and as thy soul liveth, I will not do this thing.' |
| [12]καίC εἶπονVBI-AAI3S *δαυίδN--NSM πρόςP *ουριαςN--ASM καταἵζωVA-AAD2S ἐνταῦθαD καίC γέX σήμερονD καίC αὔριονD ἐκ ἀποστέλλωVF2-FAI1S σύRP-AS καίC καταἵζωVAI-AAI3S *ουριαςN--NSM ἐνP *ἰερουσαλήμN--DSF ἐνP ὁRA-DSF ἡμέραN1A-DSF ἐκεῖνοςRD-DSF καίC ὁRA-DSF ἐπαύριονD |
[12]And David said to Uriah: 'Tarry here to-day also, and to-morrow I will let thee depart.' So Uriah abode in Jerusalem that day, and the morrow. |
| [13]καίC καλέωVAI-AAI3S αὐτόςRD-ASM *δαυίδN--NSM καίC ἐσθίωVBI-AAI3S ἐνώπιονP αὐτόςRD-GSM καίC πίνωVBI-AAI3S καίC μεθύωVAI-AAI3P αὐτόςRD-ASM καίC ἐκἔρχομαιVBI-AAI3S ἑσπέραN1A-GSF ὁRA-GSN κοιμάωVC-APN ἐπίP ὁRA-GSF κοίτηN1-GSF αὐτόςRD-GSM μετάP ὁRA-GPM δοῦλοςN2-GPM ὁRA-GSM κύριοςN2-GSM αὐτόςRD-GSM καίC εἰςP ὁRA-ASM οἶκοςN2-ASM αὐτόςRD-GSM οὐD καταβαίνωVZI-AAI3S |
[13]And when David had called him, he did eat and drink before him; and he made him drunk; and at even he went out to lie on his bed with the servants of his lord, but went not down to his house. |
| [14]καίC γίγνομαιVBI-AMI3S πρωίD καίC γράφωVAI-AAI3S *δαυίδN--NSM βιβλίονN2N-ASN πρόςP *ιωαβN--ASM καίC ἀποστέλλωVAI-AAI3S ἐνP χείρN3-DSF *ουριαςN--GSM |
[14]And it came to pass in the morning, that David wrote a letter to Joab, and sent it by the hand of Uriah. |
| [15]καίC γράφωVAI-AAI3S ἐνP ὁRA-DSN βιβλίονN2N-DSN λέγωV1-PAPNSM ἐιςἄγωVB-AAI3S ὁRA-ASM *ουριαςN--ASM ἐκP ἐναντίοςA1A-GSF ὁRA-GSM πόλεμοςN2-GSM ὁRA-GSM κραταιόςA1A-GSM καίC ἀποστρέφωVD-FPI2P ἀπόP ὄπισθεD αὐτόςRD-GSM καίC πλήσσωVD-FPI3S καίC ἀποθνήσκωVF2-FMI3S |
[15]And he wrote in the letter, saying: 'Set ye Uriah in the forefront of the hottest battle, and retire ye from him, that he may be smitten, and die.' |
| [16]καίC γίγνομαιVCI-API3S ἐνP ὁRA-DSN φυλάσσωV1-PAN *ιωαβN--NSM ἐπίP ὁRA-ASF πόλιςN3I-ASF καίC τίθημιVAI-AAI3S ὁRA-ASM *ουριαςN--ASM εἰςP ὁRA-ASM τόποςN2-ASM ὅςRR-GSM εἶδοςN3E-DSN ὅτιC ἀνήρN3-NPM δύναμιςN3I-GSF ἐκεῖD |
[16]And it came to pass, when Joab kept watch upon the city, that he assigned Uriah unto the place where he knew that valiant men were. |
| [17]καίC ἐκἔρχομαιVBI-AAI3P ὁRA-NPM ἀνήρN3-NPM ὁRA-GSF πόλιςN3I-GSF καίC πολεμέωV2I-IAI3P μετάP *ιωαβN--ASM καίC πίπτωVAI-AAI3P ἐκP ὁRA-GSM λαόςN2-GSM ἐκP ὁRA-GPM δοῦλοςN2-GPM *δαυίδN--GSM καίC ἀποθνήσκωVBI-AAI3S καίC γέX *ουριαςN--NSM ὁRA-NSM *χετταῖοςN2-NSM |
[17]And the men of the city went out, and fought with Joab; and there fell some of the people, even of the servants of David; and Uriah the Hittite died also. |
| [18]καίC ἀποστέλλωVAI-AAI3S *ιωαβN--NSM καίC ἀποἀγγέλλωVAI-AAI3S ὁRA-DSM βασιλεύςN3V-DSM πᾶςA3-APM ὁRA-APM λόγοςN2-APM ὁRA-GSM πόλεμοςN2-GSM |
[18]Then Joab sent and told David all the things concerning the war; |
| [19]καίC ἐντέλλωVAI-AMI3S ὁRA-DSM ἄγγελοςN2-DSM λέγωV1-PAPNSM ἐνP ὁRA-DSN συντελέωVA-AAN σύRP-AS πᾶςA3-APM ὁRA-APM λόγοςN2-APM ὁRA-GSM πόλεμοςN2-GSM λαλέωVA-AAN πρόςP ὁRA-ASM βασιλεύςN3V-ASM |
[19]And he charged the messenger, saying: 'When thou hast made an end of telling all the things concerning the war unto the king, |
| [20]καίC εἰμίVF-FMI3S ἐάνC ἀναβαίνωVZ-AAS3S ὁRA-NSM θυμόςN2-NSM ὁRA-GSM βασιλεύςN3V-GSM καίC εἶπονVB-AAS3S σύRP-DS τίςRI-NSN ὅτιC ἐγγίζωVAI-AAI2P πρόςP ὁRA-ASF πόλιςN3I-ASF πολεμέωVA-AAN οὐD οἶδαVXI-YAI2P ὅτιC τοξεύωVF-FAI3P ἀπάνωθενD ὁRA-GSN τεῖχοςN3E-GSN |
[20]It shall be that, if the king's wrath arise, and he say unto the Wherefore went ye so nigh unto the city to fight? knew ye not that they would shoot from the wall? |
| [21]τίςRI-NSM πατάσσωVAI-AAI3S ὁRA-ASM *αβιμελεχN--ASM υἱόςN2-ASM *ιεροβααλN--GS οὐD γυνήN3K-NSF ῥίπτωVAI-AAI3S ἐπίP αὐτόςRD-ASM κλάσμαN3M-NSN μύλοςN2-GSM ἐπάνωθεD ὁRA-GSN τεῖχοςN3E-GSN καίC ἀποθνήσκωVBI-AAI3S ἐνP *θαμασιN--DS ἵναC τίςRI-ASN προςἄγωVBI-AAI2P πρόςP ὁRA-ASN τεῖχοςN3E-ASN καίC εἶπονVF2-FAI2S καίC γέX *ουριαςN--NSM ὁRA-NSM δοῦλοςN2-NSM σύRP-GS ὁRA-NSM *χετταῖοςN2-NSM ἀποθνήσκωVBI-AAI3S |
[21]Who smote Abimelech the son of Jerubbesheth? did not a woman cast an upper millstone upon him from the wall, that he died at Thebez? why went ye so nigh the wall? then shalt thou say: Thy servant Uriah the Hittite is dead also.' |

[22]So the messenger went, and came and told David all that Joab had sent him for. |
| [23]καίC εἶπονVBI-AAI3S ὁRA-NSM ἄγγελοςN2-NSM πρόςP *δαυίδN--ASM ὅτιC κραταιόωVAI-AAI3P ἐπίP ἐγώRP-AP ὁRA-NPM ἀνήρN3-NPM καίC ἐκἔρχομαιVBI-AAI3P ἐπίP ἐγώRP-AP εἰςP ὁRA-ASM ἀγρόςN2-ASM καίC γίγνομαιVCI-API1P ἐπίP αὐτόςRD-APM ἕωςC ὁRA-GSF θύραN1A-GSF ὁRA-GSF πύληN1-GSF |
[23]And the messenger said unto David: 'The men prevailed against us, and came out unto us into the field, and we were upon them even unto the entrance of the gate. |
| [24]καίC τοξεύωVAI-AAI3P ὁRA-NPM τοξεύωV1-PAPNPM πρόςP ὁRA-APM παῖςN3D-APM σύRP-GS ἀπάνωθενD ὁRA-GSN τεῖχοςN3E-GSN καίC ἀποθνήσκωVBI-AAI3P ὁRA-GPM παῖςN3D-GPM ὁRA-GSM βασιλεύςN3V-GSM καίC γέX ὁRA-NSM δοῦλοςN2-NSM σύRP-GS *ουριαςN--NSM ὁRA-NSM *χετταῖοςN2-NSM ἀποθνήσκωVBI-AAI3S |
[24]And the shooters shot at thy servants from off the wall; and some of the king's servants are dead, and thy servant Uriah the Hittite is dead also.' |
| [25]καίC εἶπονVBI-AAI3S *δαυίδN--NSM πρόςP ὁRA-ASM ἄγγελοςN2-ASM ὅδεRD-NSN εἶπονVF2-FAI2S πρόςP *ιωαβN--ASM μήD πονηρόςA1A-ASM εἰμίV9-PAD3S ἐνP ὀφθαλμόςN2-DPM σύRP-GS ὁRA-ASN ῥῆμαN3M-ASN οὗτοςRD-ASN ὅτιC ποτέD μένX οὕτωςD καίC ποτέD οὕτωςD ἐσθίωVF-FMI3S ὁRA-NSF μάχαιραN1A-NSF κραταιόωVA-AAD2S ὁRA-ASM πόλεμοςN2-ASM σύRP-GS πρόςP ὁRA-ASF πόλιςN3I-ASF καίC κατασπάωVA-AAD2S αὐτόςRD-ASF καίC κραταιόωVA-AAD2S αὐτόςRD-ASM |
[25]Then David said unto the messenger: 'Thus shalt thou say unto Joab: Let not this thing displease thee, for the sword devoureth in one manner or another; make thy battle more strong against the city, and overthrow it; and encourage thou him.' |
| [26]καίC ἀκούωVAI-AAI3S ὁRA-NSF γυνήN3K-NSF *ουριαN--GSM ὅτιC ἀποθνήσκωVBI-AAI3S *ουριαςN--NSM ὁRA-NSM ἀνήρN3-NSM αὐτόςRD-GSF καίC κόπτωVAI-AMI3S ὁRA-ASM ἀνήρN3-ASM αὐτόςRD-GSF |
[26]And when the wife of Uriah heard that Uriah her husband was dead, she made lamentation for her husband. |
| [27]καίC διαἔρχομαιVBI-AAI3S ὁRA-ASN πένθοςN3E-ASN καίC ἀποστέλλωVAI-AAI3S *δαυίδN--NSM καίC συνἄγωVBI-AAI3S αὐτόςRD-ASF εἰςP ὁRA-ASM οἶκοςN2-ASM αὐτόςRD-GSM καίC γίγνομαιVCI-API3S αὐτόςRD-DSM εἰςP γυνήN3K-ASF καίC τίκτωVBI-AAI3S αὐτόςRD-DSM υἱόςN2-ASM καίC πονηρόςA1A-ASM φαίνωVDI-API3S ὁRA-ASN ῥῆμαN3M-ASN ὅςRR-NSN ποιέωVAI-AAI3S *δαυίδN--NSM ἐνP ὀφθαλμόςN2-DPM κύριοςN2-GSM |
[27]And when the mourning was past, David sent and took her home to his house, and she became his wife, and bore him a son. But the thing that David had done displeased 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇. |
