[1]וְדָוִ֗ד עָבַ֤ר מְעַט֙ מֵֽהָרֹ֔אשׁ וְהִנֵּ֥ה צִיבָ֛א נַ֥עַר מְפִי־בֹ֖שֶׁת לִקְרָאתֹ֑ו וְצֶ֨מֶד חֲמֹרִ֜ים חֲבֻשִׁ֗ים וַעֲלֵיהֶם֩ מָאתַ֨יִם לֶ֜חֶם וּמֵאָ֧ה צִמּוּקִ֛ים וּמֵ֥אָה קַ֖יִץ וְנֵ֥בֶל יָֽיִן׃ |
| [2]And the kingH4428 saidH559[H8799] unto ZibaH6717, What meanest thou by these? And ZibaH6717 saidH559[H8799], The assesH2543 be for the king'sH4428 householdH1004 to ride onH7392[H8800]; and the breadH3899 and summer fruitH7019 for the young menH5288 to eatH398[H8800]; and the wineH3196, that such as be faintH3287 in the wildernessH4057 may drinkH8354.[H8800] |
[2]וַיֹּ֧אמֶר הַמֶּ֛לֶךְ אֶל־צִיבָ֖א מָה־אֵ֣לֶּה לָּ֑ךְ וַיֹּ֣אמֶר צִ֠יבָא הַחֲמֹורִ֨ים לְבֵית־הַמֶּ֜לֶךְ לִרְכֹּ֗ב [וּלְהַלֶּחֶם כ] (וְהַלֶּ֤חֶם ק) וְהַקַּ֙יִץ֙ לֶאֱכֹ֣ול הַנְּעָרִ֔ים וְהַיַּ֕יִן לִשְׁתֹּ֥ות הַיָּעֵ֖ף בַּמִּדְבָּֽר׃ |
| [3]And the kingH4428 saidH559[H8799], And where is thy master'sH113 sonH1121? And ZibaH6717 saidH559[H8799] unto the kingH4428, Behold, he abidethH3427[H8802] at JerusalemH3389: for he saidH559[H8804], To dayH3117 shall the houseH1004 of IsraelH3478 restoreH7725[H8686] me the kingdomH4468 of my fatherH1. |
[3]וַיֹּ֣אמֶר הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ וְאַיֵּ֖ה בֶּן־אֲדֹנֶ֑יךָ וַיֹּ֨אמֶר צִיבָ֜א אֶל־הַמֶּ֗לֶךְ הִנֵּה֙ יֹושֵׁ֣ב בִּירוּשָׁלִַ֔ם כִּ֣י אָמַ֔ר הַיֹּ֗ום יָשִׁ֤יבוּ לִי֙ בֵּ֣ית יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל אֵ֖ת מַמְלְכ֥וּת אָבִֽי׃ |
| [4]Then saidH559[H8799] the kingH4428 to ZibaH6717, Behold, thine are all that pertained unto MephiboshethH4648. And ZibaH6717 saidH559[H8799], I humblyH7812[H8694] beseech thee that I may findH4672[H8799] graceH2580 in thy sightH5869, my lordH113, O kingH4428. |
[4]וַיֹּ֤אמֶר הַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ לְצִבָ֔א הִנֵּ֣ה לְךָ֔ כֹּ֖ל אֲשֶׁ֣ר לִמְפִי־בֹ֑שֶׁת וַיֹּ֤אמֶר צִיבָא֙ הִֽשְׁתַּחֲוֵ֔יתִי אֶמְצָא־חֵ֥ן בְּעֵינֶ֖יךָ אֲדֹנִ֥י הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃ |
| [5]And when kingH4428 DavidH1732 cameH935[H8804] to BahurimH980, behold, thence came outH3318[H8802] a manH376 of the familyH4940 of the houseH1004 of SaulH7586, whose nameH8034 was ShimeiH8096, the sonH1121 of GeraH1617: he came forthH3318[H8802], and cursedH7043[H8764] still as he cameH3318.[H8800] |
[5]וּבָ֛א הַמֶּ֥לֶךְ דָּוִ֖ד עַד־בַּֽחוּרִ֑ים וְהִנֵּ֣ה מִשָּׁם֩ אִ֨ישׁ יֹוצֵ֜א מִמִּשְׁפַּ֣חַת בֵּית־שָׁא֗וּל וּשְׁמֹו֙ שִׁמְעִ֣י בֶן־גֵּרָ֔א יֹצֵ֥א יָצֹ֖וא וּמְקַלֵּֽל׃ |
| [6]And he castH5619[H8762] stonesH68 at DavidH1732, and at all the servantsH5650 of kingH4428 DavidH1732: and all the peopleH5971 and all the mighty menH1368 were on his right handH3225 and on his leftH8040. |
[6]וַיְסַקֵּ֤ל בָּֽאֲבָנִים֙ אֶת־דָּוִ֔ד וְאֶת־כָּל־עַבְדֵ֖י הַמֶּ֣לֶךְ דָּוִ֑ד וְכָל־הָעָם֙ וְכָל־הַגִּבֹּרִ֔ים מִימִינֹ֖ו וּמִשְּׂמֹאלֹֽו׃ |
| [7]And thus saidH559[H8804] ShimeiH8096 when he cursedH7043[H8763], Come outH3318[H8798], come outH3318[H8798], thou bloodyH1818 manH376, and thou manH376 of BelialH1100: |
[7]וְכֹֽה־אָמַ֥ר שִׁמְעִ֖י בְּקַֽלְלֹ֑ו צֵ֥א צֵ֛א אִ֥ישׁ הַדָּמִ֖ים וְאִ֥ישׁ הַבְּלִיָּֽעַל׃ |
| [8]The LORDH3068 hath returnedH7725[H8689] upon thee all the bloodH1818 of the houseH1004 of SaulH7586, in whose stead thou hast reignedH4427[H8804]; and the LORDH3068 hath deliveredH5414[H8799] the kingdomH4410 into the handH3027 of AbsalomH53 thy sonH1121: and, behold, thou art taken in thy mischiefH7451, because thou art a bloodyH1818 manH376. |
[8]הֵשִׁיב֩ עָלֶ֨יךָ יְהוָ֜ה כֹּ֣ל ׀ דְּמֵ֣י בֵית־שָׁא֗וּל אֲשֶׁ֤ר מָלַ֙כְתָּ֙ [תַּחְתֹּו כ] (תַּחְתָּ֔יו ק) וַיִּתֵּ֤ן יְהוָה֙ אֶת־הַמְּלוּכָ֔ה בְּיַ֖ד אַבְשָׁלֹ֣ום בְּנֶ֑ךָ וְהִנְּךָ֙ בְּרָ֣עָתֶ֔ךָ כִּ֛י אִ֥ישׁ דָּמִ֖ים אָֽתָּה׃ |
| [9]Then saidH559[H8799] AbishaiH52 the sonH1121 of ZeruiahH6870 unto the kingH4428, Why should this deadH4191[H8801] dogH3611 curseH7043[H8762] my lordH113 the kingH4428? let me go overH5674[H8799], I pray thee, and take offH5493[H8686] his headH7218. |
[9]וַיֹּ֨אמֶר אֲבִישַׁ֤י בֶּן־צְרוּיָה֙ אֶל־הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ לָ֣מָּה יְקַלֵּ֞ל הַכֶּ֤לֶב הַמֵּת֙ הַזֶּ֔ה אֶת־אֲדֹנִ֖י הַמֶּ֑לֶךְ אֶעְבְּרָה־נָּ֖א וְאָסִ֥ירָה אֶת־רֹאשֹֽׁו׃ |
| [10]And the kingH4428 saidH559[H8799], What have I to do with you, ye sonsH1121 of ZeruiahH6870? so let him curseH7043[H8762], because the LORDH3068 hath saidH559[H8804] unto him, CurseH7043[H8761] DavidH1732. Who shall then sayH559[H8799], Wherefore hast thou done soH6213?[H8804] |
[10]וַיֹּ֣אמֶר הַמֶּ֔לֶךְ מַה־לִּ֥י וְלָכֶ֖ם בְּנֵ֣י צְרֻיָ֑ה [כִּי כ] (כֹּ֣ה ק) יְקַלֵּ֗ל [וְכִי כ] (כִּ֤י ק) יְהוָה֙ אָ֤מַר לֹו֙ קַלֵּ֣ל אֶת־דָּוִ֔ד וּמִ֣י יֹאמַ֔ר מַדּ֖וּעַ עָשִׂ֥יתָה כֵּֽן׃ |
| [11]And DavidH1732 saidH559[H8799] to AbishaiH52, and to all his servantsH5650, Behold, my sonH1121, which came forthH3318[H8804] of my bowelsH4578, seekethH1245[H8764] my lifeH5315: how much more now may this BenjamiteH1145 do it? let him aloneH3240[H8685], and let him curseH7043[H8762]; for the LORDH3068 hath biddenH559 himH8804. |
[11]וַיֹּ֨אמֶר דָּוִ֤ד אֶל־אֲבִישַׁי֙ וְאֶל־כָּל־עֲבָדָ֔יו הִנֵּ֥ה בְנִ֛י אֲשֶׁר־יָצָ֥א מִמֵּעַ֖י מְבַקֵּ֣שׁ אֶת־נַפְשִׁ֑י וְאַ֨ף כִּֽי־עַתָּ֜ה בֶּן־הַיְמִינִ֗י הַנִּ֤חוּ לֹו֙ וִֽיקַלֵּ֔ל כִּ֥י אָֽמַר־לֹ֖ו יְהוָֽה׃ |
| [12]It may be that the LORDH3068 will lookH7200[H8799] on mine afflictionH5869[H8675][H6040], and that the LORDH3068 will requiteH7725[H8689] me goodH2896 for his cursingH7045 this dayH3117. |
[12]אוּלַ֛י יִרְאֶ֥ה יְהוָ֖ה [בְּעֳוֹנִי כ] (בְּעֵינִ֑י ק) וְהֵשִׁ֨יב יְהוָ֥ה לִי֙ טֹובָ֔ה תַּ֥חַת קִלְלָתֹ֖ו הַיֹּ֥ום הַזֶּֽה׃ |
| [13]And as DavidH1732 and his menH582 wentH3212[H8799] by the wayH1870, ShimeiH8096 went alongH1980[H8802] on the hill'sH2022 sideH6763 over againstH5980 him, and cursedH7043[H8762] as he wentH1980[H8800], and threwH5619[H8762] stonesH68 atH5980 him, and castH6080[H8765] dustH6083. |
[13]וַיֵּ֧לֶךְ דָּוִ֛ד וַאֲנָשָׁ֖יו בַּדָּ֑רֶךְ וְשִׁמְעִ֡י הֹלֵךְ֩ בְּצֵ֨לַע הָהָ֜ר לְעֻמָּתֹ֗ו הָלֹוךְ֙ וַיְקַלֵּ֔ל וַיְסַקֵּ֤ל בָּֽאֲבָנִים֙ לְעֻמָּתֹ֔ו וְעִפַּ֖ר בֶּעָפָֽר׃ |
| [14]And the kingH4428, and all the peopleH5971 that were with him, cameH935[H8799] wearyH5889, and refreshedH5314 themselves thereH8735. |
[14]וַיָּבֹ֥א הַמֶּ֛לֶךְ וְכָל־הָעָ֥ם אֲשֶׁר־אִתֹּ֖ו עֲיֵפִ֑ים וַיִּנָּפֵ֖שׁ שָֽׁם׃ |
| [15]And AbsalomH53, and all the peopleH5971 the menH376 of IsraelH3478, cameH935[H8804] to JerusalemH3389, and Ahithophel with himH302. |
[15]וְאַבְשָׁלֹ֗ום וְכָל־הָעָם֙ אִ֣ישׁ יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל בָּ֖אוּ יְרוּשָׁלִָ֑ם וַאֲחִיתֹ֖פֶל אִתֹּֽו׃ |
| [16]And it came to pass, when HushaiH2365 the ArchiteH757, David'sH1732 friendH7463, was comeH935[H8804] unto AbsalomH53, that HushaiH2365 saidH559[H8799] unto AbsalomH53, God saveH2421[H8799] the kingH4428, God saveH2421[H8799] the kingH4428. |
[16]וַיְהִ֗י כַּֽאֲשֶׁר־בָּ֞א חוּשַׁ֧י הָאַרְכִּ֛י רֵעֶ֥ה דָוִ֖ד אֶל־אַבְשָׁלֹ֑ום וַיֹּ֤אמֶר חוּשַׁי֙ אֶל־אַבְשָׁלֹ֔ם יְחִ֥י הַמֶּ֖לֶךְ יְחִ֥י הַמֶּֽלֶךְ׃ |
| [17]And AbsalomH53 saidH559[H8799] to HushaiH2365, Is this thy kindnessH2617 to thy friendH7453? why wentestH1980[H8804] thou not with thy friendH7453? |
[17]וַיֹּ֤אמֶר אַבְשָׁלֹום֙ אֶל־חוּשַׁ֔י זֶ֥ה חַסְדְּךָ֖ אֶת־רֵעֶ֑ךָ לָ֥מָּה לֹֽא־הָלַ֖כְתָּ אֶת־רֵעֶֽךָ׃ |
| [18]And HushaiH2365 saidH559[H8799] unto AbsalomH53, Nay; but whom the LORDH3068, and this peopleH5971, and all the menH376 of IsraelH3478, chooseH977[H8804], his will I be, and with him will I abideH3427.[H8799] |
[18]וַיֹּ֣אמֶר חוּשַׁי֮ אֶל־אַבְשָׁלֹם֒ לֹ֕א כִּי֩ אֲשֶׁ֨ר בָּחַ֧ר יְהוָ֛ה וְהָעָ֥ם הַזֶּ֖ה וְכָל־אִ֣ישׁ יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל [לֹא כ] (לֹ֥ו ק) אֶהְיֶ֖ה וְאִתֹּ֥ו אֵשֵֽׁב׃ |
| [19]And againH8145, whom should I serveH5647[H8799]? should I not serve in the presenceH6440 of his sonH1121? as I have servedH5647[H8804] in thy father'sH1 presenceH6440, so will I be in thy presenceH6440. |
[19]וְהַשֵּׁנִ֗ית לְמִי֙ אֲנִ֣י אֶֽעֱבֹ֔ד הֲלֹ֖וא לִפְנֵ֣י בְנֹ֑ו כַּאֲשֶׁ֤ר עָבַ֙דְתִּי֙ לִפְנֵ֣י אָבִ֔יךָ כֵּ֖ן אֶהְיֶ֥ה לִפָנֶֽיךָ׃ |
| [20]Then saidH559[H8799] AbsalomH53 to AhithophelH302, GiveH3051[H8798] counselH6098 among you what we shall doH6213.[H8799] |
[20]וַיֹּ֥אמֶר אַבְשָׁלֹ֖ום אֶל־אֲחִיתֹ֑פֶל הָב֥וּ לָכֶ֛ם עֵצָ֖ה מַֽה־נַּעֲשֶֽׂה׃ |
| [21]And AhithophelH302 saidH559[H8799] unto AbsalomH53, Go inH935[H8798] unto thy father'sH1 concubinesH6370, which he hath leftH3240[H8689] to keepH8104[H8800] the houseH1004; and all IsraelH3478 shall hearH8085[H8804] that thou art abhorredH887[H8738] of thy fatherH1: then shall the handsH3027 of all that are with thee be strongH2388.[H8804] |
[21]וַיֹּ֤אמֶר אֲחִיתֹ֙פֶל֙ אֶל־אַבְשָׁלֹ֔ם בֹּ֚וא אֶל־פִּלַגְשֵׁ֣י אָבִ֔יךָ אֲשֶׁ֥ר הִנִּ֖יחַ לִשְׁמֹ֣ור הַבָּ֑יִת וְשָׁמַ֤ע כָּל־יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ כִּֽי־נִבְאַ֣שְׁתָּ אֶת־אָבִ֔יךָ וְחָ֣זְק֔וּ יְדֵ֖י כָּל־אֲשֶׁ֥ר אִתָּֽךְ׃ |
| [22]So they spreadH5186[H8686] AbsalomH53 a tentH168 upon the top of the houseH1406; and AbsalomH53 went inH935[H8799] unto his father'sH1 concubinesH6370 in the sightH5869 of all IsraelH3478. |
[22]וַיַּטּ֧וּ לְאַבְשָׁלֹ֛ום הָאֹ֖הֶל עַל־הַגָּ֑ג וַיָּבֹ֤א אַבְשָׁלֹום֙ אֶל־פִּֽלַגְשֵׁ֣י אָבִ֔יו לְעֵינֵ֖י כָּל־יִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ |
| [23]And the counselH6098 of AhithophelH302, which he counselledH3289[H8804] in those daysH3117, was as if a manH376 had enquiredH7592[H8799] at the oracleH1697 of GodH430: so was all the counselH6098 of AhithophelH302 both with DavidH1732 and with AbsalomH53. |
[23]וַעֲצַ֣ת אֲחִיתֹ֗פֶל אֲשֶׁ֤ר יָעַץ֙ בַּיָּמִ֣ים הָהֵ֔ם כַּאֲשֶׁ֥ר יִשְׁאַל־ (אִ֖ישׁ ק) בִּדְבַ֣ר הָאֱלֹהִ֑ים כֵּ֚ן כָּל־עֲצַ֣ת אֲחִיתֹ֔פֶל גַּם־לְדָוִ֖ד גַּ֥ם לְאַבְשָׁלֹֽם׃ |
