[1]NebuchadnezzarH5020 the kingH4430 madeH5648[H8754] an imageH6755 of goldH1722, whose heightH7314 was threescoreH8361 cubitsH521, and the breadthH6613 thereof sixH8353 cubitsH521: he set it upH6966[H8684] in the plainH1236 of DuraH1757, in the provinceH4083 of BabylonH895. |
[1]Nebuchad-nezzar the king made an image of gold, whose height was three score cubits, and the breadth thereof six cubits: he set it up in the plain of Dura, in the province of Babylon. |
[2]Then NebuchadnezzarH5020 the kingH4430 sentH7972[H8754] to gather togetherH3673[H8749] the princesH324, the governorsH5460, and the captainsH6347, the judgesH148, the treasurersH1411, the counsellorsH1884, the sheriffsH8614, and allH3606 the rulersH7984 of the provincesH4083, to comeH858[H8749] to the dedicationH2597 of the imageH6755 which NebuchadnezzarH5020 the kingH4430 had set upH6966.[H8684] |
[2]Then Nebuchad-nezzar the king sent forth to gather together the nobles, the princes and the dukes, the judges, the receivers, the counselors, the officers, and all the governors of the provinces, that they should come to the dedication of the image, which Nebuchad-nezzar the king had set up. |
[3]ThenH116 the princesH324, the governorsH5460, and captainsH6347, the judgesH148, the treasurersH1411, the counsellorsH1884, the sheriffsH8614, and allH3606 the rulersH7984 of the provincesH4083, were gathered togetherH3673[H8723] unto the dedicationH2597 of the imageH6755 that NebuchadnezzarH5020 the kingH4430 had set upH6966[H8684]; and they stoodH6966[H8750] beforeH6903 the imageH6755 that NebuchadnezzarH5020 had set upH6966.[H8684] |
[3]So the nobles, princes and dukes, the judges, the receivers, the counselors, the officers, and all the governors of the provinces were assembled unto the dedicating of the image, that Nebuchad-nezzar the king had set up: and they stood before the image, which Nebuchad-nezzar had set up. |
[4]Then an heraldH3744 criedH7123[H8751] aloudH2429, To you it is commandedH560[H8750], O peopleH5972, nationsH524, and languagesH3961, |
[4]Then an herald cried aloud, Be it known to you, O people, nations, and languages, |
[5]That at what timeH5732 ye hearH8086[H8748] the soundH7032 of the cornetH7162, fluteH4953, harpH7030[H8675][H7030], sackbutH5443, psalteryH6460, dulcimerH5481, and allH3606 kindsH2178 of musickH2170, ye fall downH5308[H8748] and worshipH5457[H8748] the goldenH1722 imageH6755 that NebuchadnezzarH5020 the kingH4430 hath set upH6966:[H8684] |
[5]That when ye hear the sound of the cornet, trumpet, harp, sackbut, psaltery, dulcimer, and all instruments of music, ye fall down and worship the golden image, that Nebuchad-nezzar the king hath set up, |
[6]And whosoH4479 fallethH5308 notH3809 downH5308[H8748] and worshippethH5457[H8748] shall the same hourH8160 be castH7412[H8729] into the midstH1459 of a burningH3345[H8751] fieryH5135 furnaceH861. |
[6]And whosoever falleth not down and worshipeth, shall the same hour be cast into the midst of an hot fiery furnace. |
[7]ThereforeH6903[H1836] at that timeH2166, whenH1768 allH3606 the peopleH5972 heardH8086[H8750] the soundH7032 of the cornetH7162, fluteH4953, harpH7030[H8675][H7030], sackbutH5443, psalteryH6460, and allH3606 kindsH2178 of musickH2170, allH3606 the peopleH5972, the nationsH524, and the languagesH3961, fell downH5308[H8750] and worshippedH5457[H8750] the goldenH1722 imageH6755 that NebuchadnezzarH5020 the kingH4430 had set upH6966.[H8684] |
[7]Therefore as soon as all the people heard the sound of the cornet, trumpet, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and all instruments of music, all the people, nations, and languages fell down, and worshiped the golden image, that Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up. |
[8]WhereforeH6903[H3606] at thatH1836 timeH2166 certainH1400 ChaldeansH3779 came nearH7127[H8754], and accusedH7170[H399][H8754] the JewsH3062. |
[8]By reason whereof at that same time came men of the Chaldeans, and grievously accused the Jews. |
[9]They spakeH6032[H8754] and saidH560[H8750] to the kingH4430 NebuchadnezzarH5020, O kingH4430, liveH2418[H8747] for everH5957. |
[9]For they spake and said to the king Nebuchad-nezzar, O king, live forever. |
[10]ThouH607, O kingH4430, hast madeH7761[H8754] a decreeH2942, that everyH3606 manH606 that shall hearH8086[H8748] the soundH7032 of the cornetH7162, fluteH4953, harpH7030[H8675][H7030], sackbutH5443, psalteryH6460, and dulcimerH5481[H8675][H5481], and allH3606 kindsH2178 of musickH2170, shall fall downH5308[H8748] and worshipH5457[H8748] the goldenH1722 imageH6755: |
[10]Thou, O king, hast made a decree, that every man that shall hear the sound of the cornet, trumpet, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and dulcimer, and all instruments of music, shall fall down and worship the golden image, |
[11]And whosoH4479 fallethH5308 notH3809 downH5308[H8748] and worshippethH5457[H8748], that he should be castH7412[H8729] into the midstH1459 of a burningH3345[H8751] fieryH5135 furnaceH861. |
[11]And whosoever falleth not down, and worshipeth, that he should be cast into the midst of an hot fiery furnace. |
[12]There areH383 certainH1400 JewsH3062 whomH3487 thou hast setH4483[H8745] overH5922 the affairsH5673 of the provinceH4083 of BabylonH895, ShadrachH7715, MeshachH4336, and AbednegoH5665; theseH479 menH1400, O kingH4430, haveH7761[H8754] notH3809 regardedH2942 theeH5922: they serveH6399[H8750] notH3809 thy godsH426, norH3809 worshipH5457[H8750] the goldenH1722 imageH6755 which thou hast set upH6966.[H8684] |
[12]There are certain Jews whom thou hast set over the charge of the province of Babylon, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego: these men, O king, have not regarded thy commandment, neither will they serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image, that thou hast set up. |
[13]ThenH116 NebuchadnezzarH5020 in his rageH7266 and furyH2528 commandedH560[H8754] to bringH858[H8682] ShadrachH7715, MeshachH4336, and AbednegoH5665. ThenH116 they broughtH858[H8717] theseH479 menH1400 beforeH6925 the kingH4430. |
[13]Then Nebuchad-nezzar in his anger and wrath commanded that they should bring Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego: so these men were brought before the king. |
[14]NebuchadnezzarH5020 spakeH6032[H8750] and saidH560[H8750] unto them, Is it trueH6656, O ShadrachH7715, MeshachH4336, and AbednegoH5665, do notH3809 yeH383 serveH6399[H8750] my godsH426, norH3809 worshipH5457[H8750] the goldenH1722 imageH6755 which I have setH6966 upH8684? |
[14]And Nebuchad-nezzar spake, and said unto them, What disorder? Will not you, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego serve my god, nor worship the golden image, that I have set up? |
[15]NowH3705 ifH2006 ye beH383 readyH6263 that at what timeH5732 ye hearH8086[H8748] the soundH7032 of the cornetH7162, fluteH4953, harpH7030[H8675][H7030], sackbutH5443, psalteryH6460, and dulcimerH5481, and allH3606 kindsH2178 of musickH2170, ye fall downH5308[H8748] and worshipH5457[H8748] the imageH6755 which I have madeH5648[H8754]; well: but ifH2006 ye worshipH5457[H8748] notH3809, ye shall be castH7412[H8729] the same hourH8160 into the midstH1459 of a burningH3345[H8751] fieryH5135 furnaceH861; and whoH4479 is that GodH426 that shall deliverH7804[H8755] you out ofH4481 my handsH3028? |
[15]Now therefore are ye ready when ye hear the sound of the cornet, trumpet, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and dulcimer, and all instruments of music, to fall down, and worship the image, which I have made? For if ye worship it not, ye shall be cast immediately into the midst of an hot fiery furnace: for who is that God, that can deliver you out of mine hands? |
[16]ShadrachH7715, MeshachH4336, and AbednegoH5665, answeredH6032[H8754] and saidH560[H8750] to the kingH4430, O NebuchadnezzarH5020, weH586 are notH3809 carefulH2818[H8750] to answerH8421[H8682] thee inH5922 thisH1836 matterH6600. |
[16]Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego answered and said to the king, O Nebuchad-nezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter. |
[17]IfH2006 it be so, our GodH426 whom weH586 serveH6399[H8750] isH383 ableH3202[H8750] to deliverH7804[H8756] us fromH4481 the burningH3345[H8751] fieryH5135 furnaceH861, andH4481 he will deliverH7804[H8755] us out ofH4481 thine handH3028, O kingH4430. |
[17]Behold, our God whom we serve, is able to deliver us from the hot fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king. |
[18]But ifH2006 notH3809, be itH1934[H8748] knownH3046[H8752] unto thee, O kingH4430, that we willH383 notH3809 serveH6399[H8750] thy godsH426, norH3809 worshipH5457[H8748] the goldenH1722 imageH6755 which thou hast set upH6966.[H8684] |
[18]But if not, be it known to thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image, which thou hast set up. |
[19]ThenH116 was NebuchadnezzarH5020 fullH4391[H8728] of furyH2528, and the formH6755 of his visageH600 was changedH8133[H8724] againstH5922 ShadrachH7715, MeshachH4336, and AbednegoH5665: therefore he spakeH6032[H8750], and commandedH560[H8750] that they should heatH228[H8749] the furnaceH861 oneH2298 seven timesH7655 moreH5922 thanH1768 it was wontH2370[H8752] to be heatedH228.[H8749] |
[19]Then was Nebuchad-nezzar full of rage, and the form of his visage was changed against Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego: therefore he charged and commanded that they should heat the furnace at once seven times more than it was wont to be heat. |
[20]And he commandedH560[H8754] the mostH2429 mightyH1401 menH1400 that were in his armyH2429 to bindH3729[H8742] ShadrachH7715, MeshachH4336, and AbednegoH5665, and to castH7412[H8749] them into the burningH3345[H8751] fieryH5135 furnaceH861. |
[20]And he charged the most valiant men of war that were in his army, to bind Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, and to cast them into the hot fiery furnace. |
[21]ThenH116 theseH479 menH1400 were boundH3729[H8760] in their coatsH5622, their hosenH6361[H8675][H6361], and their hatsH3737, and their other garmentsH3831, and were castH7412[H8752] into the midstH1459 of the burningH3345[H8751] fieryH5135 furnaceH861. |
[21]So these men were bound in their coats, their hosen, and their cloaks, with their other garments, and cast into the midst of the hot fiery furnace. |
[22]ThereforeH3606[H6903] becauseH4481[H1836] the king'sH4430 commandmentH4406 was urgentH2685[H8683], and the furnaceH861 exceedingH3493 hotH228[H8752], the flameH7631 of the fireH5135 slewH6992[H8745] thoseH479 menH1400[H1994] that took upH5267[H8684] ShadrachH7715, MeshachH4336, and AbednegoH5665. |
[22]Therefore, because the king's commandment was straight, that the furnace should be exceeding hot, the flame of the fire slew those men that brought forth Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. |
[23]And theseH479 threeH8532 menH1400, ShadrachH7715, MeshachH4336, and AbednegoH5665, fell downH5308[H8754] boundH3729[H8743] into the midstH1459 of the burningH3345[H8751] fieryH5135 furnaceH861. |
[23]And these three men Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego fell down bound into the midst of the hot fiery furnace. |
[24]ThenH116 NebuchadnezzarH5020 the kingH4430 was astoniedH8429[H8754], and rose upH6966[H8754] in hasteH927[H8726], and spakeH6032[H8750], and saidH560[H8750] unto his counsellorsH1907, Did notH3809 we castH7412[H8754] threeH8532 menH1400 boundH3729[H8743] into the midstH1459 of the fireH5135? They answeredH6032[H8750] and saidH560[H8750] unto the kingH4430, TrueH3330, O kingH4430. |
[24]Then Nebuchad-nezzar the king was astonied and rose up in haste, and spake, and said unto his counselors, Did not we cast three men bound into the midst of the fire? Who answered and said unto the king, It is true, O king. |
[25]He answeredH6032[H8750] and saidH560[H8750], LoH1888, IH576 seeH2370[H8751] fourH703 menH1400 looseH8271[H8750], walkingH1981[H8683] in the midstH1459 of the fireH5135, and they haveH383 noH3809 hurtH2257; and the formH7299 of the fourthH7244 is likeH1821[H8751] the SonH1247 of GodH426. |
[25]And he answered, and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt, and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God. |
[26]ThenH116 NebuchadnezzarH5020 came nearH7127[H8754] to the mouthH8651 of the burningH3345[H8751] fieryH5135 furnaceH861, and spakeH6032[H8750], and saidH560[H8750], ShadrachH7715, MeshachH4336, and AbednegoH5665, ye servantsH5649 of the most highH5943 GodH426, come forthH5312[H8747], and comeH858[H8747] hither. ThenH116 ShadrachH7715, MeshachH4336, and AbednegoH5665, came forthH5312[H8750] ofH4481 the midstH1459 of the fireH5135. |
[26]Then the king Nebuchad-nezzar came near to the mouth of the hot fiery furnace, and spake and said, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, the servants of the high God go forth and come hither: so Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego came forth of the midst of the fire. |
[27]And the princesH324, governorsH5460, and captainsH6347, and the king'sH4430 counsellorsH1907, being gathered togetherH3673[H8723], sawH2370[H8751] theseH479 menH1400, upon whose bodiesH1655 the fireH5135 had noH3809 powerH7981[H8754], norH3809 was an hairH8177 of their headH7217 singedH2761[H8724], neitherH3809 were their coatsH5622 changedH8133[H8754], norH3809 the smellH7382 of fireH5135 had passedH5709 on themH8754. |
[27]Then the nobles, princes and dukes, and the king's counselors came together to see these men, because the fire had no power over their bodies: for not an hair of their head was burned, neither was their coats changed, nor any smell of fire came upon them. |
[28]Then NebuchadnezzarH5020 spakeH6032[H8750], and saidH560[H8750], BlessedH1289[H8752] be the GodH426 of ShadrachH7715, MeshachH4336, and AbednegoH5665, who hath sentH7972[H8754] his angelH4398, and deliveredH7804[H8758] his servantsH5649 that trustedH7365[H8702] in himH5922, and have changedH8133[H8745] the king'sH4430 wordH4406, and yieldedH3052[H8754] their bodiesH1655, that they might notH3809 serveH6399[H8748] norH3809 worshipH5457[H8748] anyH3606 godH426, exceptH3861 their own GodH426. |
[28]Wherefore Nebuchad-nezzar spake and said, Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, who hath sent his angel, and delivered his servants, that put their trust in him, and have changed the king's commandment, and yielded their bodies rather than they would serve or worship any god, save their own God. |
[29]Therefore IH4481 makeH7761[H8752] a decreeH2942, That everyH3606 peopleH5972, nationH524, and languageH3961, which speakH560[H8748] any thing amissH7960[H8675][H7955] againstH5922 the GodH426 of ShadrachH7715, MeshachH4336, and AbednegoH5665, shall be cutH5648[H8725] in piecesH1917, and their housesH1005 shall be madeH7739[H8721] a dunghillH5122: becauseH6903[H3606] there isH383 noH3809 otherH321 GodH426 that canH3202[H8748] deliverH5338[H8682] after this sortH1836. |
[29]Therefore I make a decree, that every people, nation, and language, which speak any blasphemy against the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, shall be drawn in pieces, and their houses shall be made a jakes, because there is no god that can deliver after this sort. |
[30]ThenH116 the kingH4430 promotedH6744[H8684] ShadrachH7715, MeshachH4336, and AbednegoH5665, in the provinceH4083 of BabylonH895. |
[30]Then the king promoted Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego in the province of Babylon. |
31[No verse] |
[31]Nebuchad-nezzar king unto all people, nations and languages, that dwell in all the world, Peace be multiplied unto you: |
32[No verse] |
[32]I thought it good to declare the signs and wonders that the high God hath wrought toward me. |
33[No verse] |
[33]How great are his signs, and how mighty are his wonders! His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and his dominion is from generation to generation. |
