| [1]Ye are the children of the Lord your God. Ye shall not cut yourselves, nor make you any baldness between your eyes for the dead. |
[1]בנים אתם ליהוה אלהיכם לא תתגדדו ולא תשימו קרחה בין עיניכם־למת |
| [2]For thou art an holy people unto the Lord thy God, and the Lord hath chosen thee to be a precious people unto himself, above all the people that are upon the earth. |
[2]כי עם קדוש אתה ליהוה אלהיך ובך בחר יהוה להיות לו לעם סגלה מכל העמים אשר על פני האדמה |
| [3]Thou shalt eat no manner of abomination. |
[3]לא תאכל כל תועבה |
| [4]These are the beasts, which ye shall eat, the beef, the sheep, and the goat, |
[4]זאת הבהמה אשר תאכלו שור שה כשבים ושה עזים |
| [5]The hart, and the roebuck, and the bugle, and the wild goat, and the unicorn, and the wild ox, and the chamois. |
[5]איל וצבי ויחמור ואקו ודישן ותאו וזמר |
| [6]And every beast that parteth the hoof, and cleaveth the cleft into two claws, and is of the beasts that cheweth the cud, that shall ye eat. |
[6]וכל בהמה מפרסת פרסה ושסעת שסע שתי פרסות מעלת גרה בבהמה־אתה תאכלו |
| [7]But these ye shall not eat, of them that chew the cud, and of them that divide and cleave the hoof only: the camel, nor the hare, nor the coney: for they chew the cud, but divide not the hoof: therefore they shall be unclean unto you: |
[7]אך את זה לא תאכלו ממעלי הגרה וממפריסי הפרסה השסועה את הגמל ואת הארנבת ואת השפן כי מעלה גרה המה ופרסה לא הפריסו־טמאים הם לכם |
| [8]Also the swine, because he divideth the hoof, and cheweth not the cud, shall be unclean unto you: ye shall not eat of their flesh, nor touch their dead carcasses. |
[8]ואת החזיר כי מפריס פרסה הוא ולא גרה־טמא הוא לכם מבשרם לא תאכלו ובנבלתם לא תגעו |
| [9]These ye shall eat, of all that are in the waters: all that have fins and scales shall ye eat. |
[9]את זה תאכלו מכל אשר במים כל אשר לו סנפיר וקשקשת תאכלו |
| [10]And whatsoever hath no fins nor scales, ye shall not eat: it shall be unclean unto you. |
[10]וכל אשר אין לו סנפיר וקשקשת לא תאכלו־טמא הוא לכם |
| [11]Of all clean birds ye shall eat: |
[11]כל צפור טהרה תאכלו |
| [12]But these are they, whereof ye shall not eat: the eagle, nor the goshawk, nor the osprey, |
[12]וזה אשר לא תאכלו מהם הנשר והפרס והעזניה |
| [13]Nor the glede nor the kite, nor the vulture, after their kind, |
[13]והראה ואת האיה והדיה למינה |
| [14]Nor all kind of ravens, |
[14]ואת כל ערב למינו |
| [15]Nor the ostrich, nor the night crow, nor the semeaw, nor the hawk after her kind, |
[15]ואת בת היענה ואת התחמס ואת השחף ואת הנץ למינהו |
| [16]Neither the little owl, nor the great owl, nor the redshank, |
[16]את הכוס ואת הינשוף והתנשמת |
| [17]Nor the pelican, nor the swan, nor the cormorant: |
[17]והקאת ואת הרחמה ואת השלך |
| [18]The stork also, and the heron in his kind, nor the lapwing, nor the back. |
[18]והחסידה והאנפה למינה והדוכיפת והעטלף |
| [19]And every creeping thing that flieth, shall be unclean unto you: it shall not be eaten. |
[19]וכל שרץ העוף טמא הוא לכם לא יאכלו |
| [20]But of all clean fowls ye may eat. |
[20]כל עוף טהור תאכלו |
| [21]Ye shall eat of nothing that dieth alone, but thou shalt give it unto the stranger that is within thy gates, that he may eat it: or thou mayest sell it unto a stranger: for thou art an holy people unto the Lord thy God. Thou shalt not seethe a kid in his mother's milk. |
[21]לא תאכלו כל נבלה לגר אשר בשעריך תתננה ואכלה או מכר לנכרי־כי עם קדוש אתה ליהוה אלהיך לא תבשל גדי בחלב אמו |
| [22]Thou shalt give the tithe of all the increase of thy seed, that cometh forth of the field year by year. |
[22]עשר תעשר את כל תבואת זרעך היצא השדה שנה שנה |
| [23]And thou shalt eat before the Lord thy God (in the place which he shall choose to cause his name to dwell there) the tithe of thy corn, of thy wine, and of thine oil, and the firstborn of thy kine and of thy sheep, that thou mayest learn to fear the Lord thy God always. |
[23]ואכלת לפני יהוה אלהיך במקום אשר יבחר לשכן שמו שם מעשר דגנך תירשך ויצהרך ובכרת בקרך וצאנך למען תלמד ליראה את יהוה אלהיך־כל הימים |
| [24]And if the way be too long for thee, so that thou art not able to carry it, because the place is far from thee, where the Lord thy God shall choose to set his name, when the Lord thy God shall bless thee, |
[24]וכי ירבה ממך הדרך כי לא תוכל שאתו־כי ירחק ממך המקום אשר יבחר יהוה אלהיך לשום שמו שם כי יברכך יהוה אלהיך |
| [25]Then shalt thou make it in money, and take the money in thine hand, and go unto the place which the Lord thy God shall choose. |
[25]ונתתה בכסף וצרת הכסף בידך והלכת אל המקום אשר יבחר יהוה אלהיך בו |
| [26]And thou shalt bestow the money for whatsoever thine heart desireth: whether it be ox, or sheep, or wine, or strong drink, or whatsoever thine heart desireth: and shalt eat it there before the Lord thy God, and rejoice, both thou, and thine household. |
[26]ונתתה הכסף בכל אשר תאוה נפשך בבקר ובצאן וביין ובשכר ובכל אשר תשאלך נפשך ואכלת שם לפני יהוה אלהיך ושמחת אתה וביתך |
| [27]And the Levite that is within thy gates, shalt thou not forsake: for he hath neither part nor inheritance with thee. |
[27]והלוי אשר בשעריך לא תעזבנו כי אין לו חלק ונחלה עמך |
| [28]At the end of three years thou shalt bring forth all the tithes of thine increase of the same year, and lay it up within thy gates. |
[28]מקצה שלש שנים תוציא את כל מעשר תבואתך בשנה ההוא והנחת בשעריך |
| [29]Then the Levite shall come, because he hath no part nor inheritance with thee, and the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, which are within thy gates, and shall eat, and be filled, that the Lord thy God may bless thee in all the work of thine hand which thou doest. |
[29]ובא הלוי כי אין לו חלק ונחלה עמך והגר והיתום והאלמנה אשר בשעריך ואכלו ושבעו־למען יברכך יהוה אלהיך בכל מעשה ידך אשר תעשה |
