[1]When 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇 thy God shall cut off the nations, whose land 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇 thy God giveth thee, and thou dost succeed them, and dwell in their cities, and in their houses; |
| [2]Thou shalt separateH914[H8686] threeH7969 citiesH5892 for thee in the midstH8432 of thy landH776, which the LORDH3068 thy GodH430 givethH5414[H8802] thee to possessH3423 itH8800. |
[2]Thou shalt separate three cities for thee in the midst of thy land, which 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇 thy 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇 giveth thee to possess it. |
| [3]Thou shalt prepareH3559[H8686] thee a wayH1870, and divide the coastsH1366 of thy landH776, which the LORDH3068 thy GodH430 giveth thee to inheritH5157[H8686], into three partsH8027[H8765], that every slayerH7523[H8802] may fleeH5127 thitherH8800. |
[3]Thou shalt prepare thee the way, and divide the borders of thy land, which 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇 thy God causeth thee to inherit, into three parts, that every manslayer may flee thither. |
| [4]And this is the caseH1697 of the slayerH7523[H8802], which shall fleeH5127[H8799] thither, that he may liveH2425[H8804]: Whoso killethH5221[H8686] his neighbourH7453 ignorantlyH1097[H1847], whom he hatedH8130[H8802] not in timeH8543 pastH8032; |
[4]And this is the case of the manslayer, that shall flee thither and live: whoso killeth his neighbour unawares, and hated him not in time past; |

[5]As when a man goeth into the forest with his neighbour to hew wood, and his hand fetcheth a stroke with the axe to cut down the tree, and the head slippeth from the helve, and lighteth upon his neighbour, that he die; he shall flee unto one of these cities and live; |
| [6]Lest the avengerH1350[H8802] of the bloodH1818[H8676] pursueH7291[H8799] the slayerH310[H7523][H8802], whileH3588 his heartH3824 is hotH3179[H8799], and overtakeH5381[H8689] him, because the wayH1870 is longH7235[H8799], and slayH5221[H8689] himH5315; whereas he was not worthyH4941 of deathH4194, inasmuch asH3588 he hatedH8130[H8802] him not in timeH8543 pastH8032. |
[6]Lest the avenger of blood pursue the manslayer, while his heart is hot, and overtake him, because the way is long, and smite him mortally; whereas he was not deserving of death, inasmuch as he hated him not in time past. |
| [7]Wherefore I commandH6680[H8764] thee, sayingH559[H8800], Thou shalt separateH914[H8686] threeH7969 cities for theeH5892. |
[7]Wherefore I command thee, saying: 'Thou shalt separate three cities for thee.' |
| [8]And if the LORDH3068 thy GodH430 enlargeH7337[H8686] thy coastH1366, as he hath swornH7650[H8738] unto thy fathersH1, and giveH5414[H8804] thee all the landH776 which he promisedH1696[H8765] to giveH5414[H8800] unto thy fathersH1; |
[8]And if 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇 thy God enlarge thy border, as He hath sworn unto thy fathers, and give thee all the land which He promised to give unto thy fathers— |
| [9]If thou shalt keepH8104[H8799] all these commandmentsH4687 to doH6213[H8800] them, which I commandH6680[H8764] thee this dayH3117, to loveH157[H8800] the LORDH3068 thy GodH430, and to walkH3212[H8800] everH3117 in his waysH1870; then shalt thou addH3254[H8804] threeH7969 citiesH5892 more for thee, beside these threeH7969: |
[9]If thou shalt keep all this commandment to do it, which I command thee this day, to love 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇 thy God, and to walk ever in His ways—then shalt thou add three cities more for thee, beside these three; |
| [10]That innocentH5355 bloodH1818 be not shedH8210[H8735] inH7130 thy landH776, which the LORDH3068 thy GodH430 givethH5414[H8802] thee for an inheritanceH5159, and so blood be upon theeH1818. |
[10]That innocent blood be not shed in the midst of thy land, which 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇 thy God giveth thee for an inheritance, and so blood be upon thee. |
| [11]But if any manH376 hateH8130[H8802] his neighbourH7453, and lie in waitH693[H8804] for him, and rise upH6965[H8804] against him, and smiteH5221[H8689] him mortallyH5315 that he dieH4191[H8804], and fleethH5127[H8804] into oneH259 of theseH411 citiesH5892: |
[11]But if any man hate his neighbour, and lie in wait for him, and rise up against him, and smite him mortally that he die; and he flee into one of these cities; |
| [12]Then the eldersH2205 of his cityH5892 shall sendH7971[H8804] and fetchH3947[H8804] him thence, and deliverH5414[H8804] him into the handH3027 of the avengerH1350[H8802] of bloodH1818, that he may dieH4191.[H8804] |
[12]Then the elders of his city shall send and fetch him thence, and deliver him into the hand of the avenger of blood, that he may die. |
| [13]Thine eyeH5869 shall not pityH2347[H8799] him, but thou shalt put awayH1197[H8765] the guilt of innocentH5355 bloodH1818 from IsraelH3478, that it may go wellH2895 with theeH8804. |
[13]Thine eye shall not pity him, but thou shalt put away the blood of the innocent from Israel, that it may go well with thee. |
| [14]Thou shalt not removeH5253[H8686] thy neighbour'sH7453 landmarkH1366, which they of old timeH7223 have setH1379[H8804] in thine inheritanceH5159, which thou shalt inheritH5157[H8799] in the landH776 that the LORDH3068 thy GodH430 givethH5414[H8802] thee to possessH3423 itH8800. |
[14]Thou shalt not remove thy neighbour's landmark, which they of old time have set, in thine inheritance which thou shalt inherit, in the land that 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇 thy God giveth thee to possess it. |

[15]One witness shall not rise up against a man for any iniquity, or for any sin, in any sin that he sinneth; at the mouth of two witnesses, or at the mouth of three witnesses, shall a matter be establishment |

[16]If an unrighteous witness rise up against any man to bear perverted witness against him; |
| [17]Then bothH8147 the menH582, between whom the controversyH7379 is, shall standH5975[H8804] beforeH6440 the LORDH3068, beforeH6440 the priestsH3548 and the judgesH8199[H8802], which shall be in those daysH3117; |
[17]Then both the men, between whom the controversy is, shall stand before 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇, before the priests and the judges that shall be in those days. |
| [18]And the judgesH8199[H8802] shall make diligentH3190[H8687] inquisitionH1875[H8804]: and, behold, if the witnessH5707 be a falseH8267 witnessH5707, and hath testifiedH6030[H8804] falselyH8267 against his brotherH251; |
[18]And the judges shall inquire diligently; and, behold, if the witness be a false witness, and hath testified falsely against his brother; |
| [19]Then shall ye doH6213[H8804] unto him, as he had thoughtH2161[H8804] to have doneH6213[H8800] unto his brotherH251: so shalt thou putH1197 the evilH7451 awayH1197[H8765] from among youH7130. |
[19]Then shall ye do unto him, as he had purposed to do unto his brother; so shalt thou put away the evil from the midst of thee. |
| [20]And those which remainH7604[H8737] shall hearH8085[H8799], and fearH3372[H8799], and shall henceforthH3254[H8686] commitH6213[H8800] no more anyH1697 such evilH7451 among youH7130. |
[20]And those that remain shall hear, and fear, and shall henceforth commit no more any such evil in the midst of thee. |
| [21]And thine eyeH5869 shall not pityH2347[H8799]; but lifeH5315 shall go for lifeH5315, eyeH5869 for eyeH5869, toothH8127 for toothH8127, handH3027 for handH3027, footH7272 for footH7272. |
[21]And thine eye shall not pity: life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot. |
