| [1]וילך משה וידבר את הדברים האלה אל כל ישראל |
[1]Then Moses went and spake these words unto all Israel, |
| [2]ויאמר אלהם בן מאה ועשרים שנה אנכי היום־לא אוכל עוד לצאת ולבוא ויהוה אמר אלי לא תעבר את הירדן הזה |
[2]And said unto them, I am an hundred and twenty year old this day: I can no more go out and in: also the Lord hath said unto me, Thou shalt not go over this Jordan. |
| [3]יהוה אלהיך הוא עבר לפניך הוא ישמיד את הגוים האלה מלפניך־וירשתם יהושע הוא עבר לפניך כאשר דבר יהוה |
[3]The Lord thy God he will go over before thee: he will destroy these nations before thee, and thou shalt possess them. Joshua, he shall go before thee, as the Lord hath said. |
| [4]ועשה יהוה להם כאשר עשה לסיחון ולעוג מלכי האמרי ולארצם־אשר השמיד אתם |
[4]And the Lord shall do unto them, as he did to Sihon and to Og, kings of the Amorites: and unto their land whom he destroyed. |
| [5]ונתנם יהוה לפניכם ועשיתם להם־ככל המצוה אשר צויתי אתכם |
[5]And the Lord shall give them before you that ye may do unto them according unto every commandment, which I have commanded you. |
| [6]חזקו ואמצו אל תיראו ואל תערצו מפניהם כי יהוה אלהיך הוא ההלך עמך־לא ירפך ולא יעזבך |
[6]Pluck up your hearts therefore, and be strong: dread not, nor be afraid of them: for the Lord thy God himself doth go with thee: he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee. |
| [7]ויקרא משה ליהושע ויאמר אליו לעיני כל ישראל חזק ואמץ־כי אתה תבוא את העם הזה אל הארץ אשר נשבע יהוה לאבתם לתת להם ואתה תנחילנה אותם |
[7]And Moses called Joshua, and said unto him in the sight of all Israel, Be of a good courage and strong: for thou shalt go with this people unto the land which the Lord hath sworn unto their fathers, to give them, and thou shalt give it them to inherit. |
| [8]ויהוה הוא ההלך לפניך הוא יהיה עמך־לא ירפך ולא יעזבך לא תירא ולא תחת |
[8]And the Lord himself doth go before thee: he will be with thee: he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not therefore, nor be discomforted. |
| [9]ויכתב משה את התורה הזאת ויתנה אל הכהנים בני לוי הנשאים את ארון ברית יהוה ואל כל זקני ישראל |
[9]And Moses wrote this law, and delivered it unto the priests the sons of Levi (which bear the ark of the covenant of the Lord) and unto all the elders of Israel, |
| [10]ויצו משה אותם לאמר מקץ שבע שנים במעד שנת השמטה־בחג הסכות |
[10]And Moses commanded them, saying, Every seventh year when the year of freedom shall be in the feast of the tabernacles: |
| [11]בבוא כל ישראל לראות את פני יהוה אלהיך במקום אשר יבחר תקרא את התורה הזאת נגד כל ישראל־באזניהם |
[11]When all Israel shall come to appear before the Lord thy God, in the place which he shall choose, thou shalt read this law before all Israel that they may hear it. |
| [12]הקהל את העם האנשים והנשים והטף וגרך אשר בשעריך־למען ישמעו ולמען ילמדו ויראו את יהוה אלהיכם ושמרו לעשות את כל דברי התורה הזאת |
[12]Gather the people together: men, and women, and children, and thy stranger that is within thy gates, that they may hear, and that they may learn, and fear the Lord your God, and keep, and observe all the words of this law, |
| [13]ובניהם אשר לא ידעו ישמעו ולמדו־ליראה את יהוה אלהיכם כל הימים אשר אתם חיים על האדמה אשר אתם עברים את הירדן שמה לרשתה |
[13]And that their children which have not known it, may hear it, and learn to fear the Lord your God, as long as ye live in the land, whither ye go over Jordan to possess it. |
| [14]ויאמר יהוה אל משה הן קרבו ימיך למות־קרא את יהושע והתיצבו באהל מועד ואצונו וילך משה ויהושע ויתיצבו באהל מועד |
[14]Then the Lord said unto Moses, Behold, thy days are come, that thou must die: Call Joshua, and stand ye in the tabernacle of the congregation that I may give him a charge. So Moses and Joshua went, and stood in the tabernacle of the congregation. |
| [15]וירא יהוה באהל בעמוד ענן ויעמד עמוד הענן על פתח האהל |
[15]And the Lord appeared in the tabernacle, in the pillar of a cloud: and the pillar of the cloud stood over the door of the tabernacle. |
| [16]ויאמר יהוה אל משה הנך שכב עם אבתיך וקם העם הזה וזנה אחרי אלהי נכר הארץ אשר הוא בא שמה בקרבו ועזבני והפר את בריתי אשר כרתי אתו |
[16]And the Lord said unto Moses, Behold, thou shalt sleep with thy fathers, and this people will rise up, and go a whoring after the gods of a strange land (whither they go) to dwell therein and will forsake me, and break my covenant which I have made with them. |
| [17]וחרה אפי בו ביום ההוא ועזבתים והסתרתי פני מהם והיה לאכל ומצאהו רעות רבות וצרות ואמר ביום ההוא הלא על כי אין אלהי בקרבי מצאוני הרעות האלה |
[17]Wherefore my wrath will wax hot against them at that day, and I will forsake them, and will hide my face from them: then they shall be consumed, and many adversities and tribulations shall come upon them: so then they will say, Are not these troubles come upon me, because God is not with me? |
| [18]ואנכי הסתר אסתיר פני ביום ההוא על כל הרעה אשר עשה כי פנה אל אלהים אחרים |
[18]But I will surely hide my face in that day, because of all the evil, which they shall commit, in that they are turned unto other gods. |
| [19]ועתה כתבו לכם את השירה הזאת ולמדה את בני ישראל שימה בפיהם למען תהיה לי השירה הזאת לעד־בבני ישראל |
[19]Now therefore write ye this song for you, and teach it the children of Israel: put it in their mouths, that this song may be my witness against the children of Israel. |
| [20]כי אביאנו אל האדמה אשר נשבעתי לאבתיו זבת חלב ודבש ואכל ושבע ודשן ופנה אל אלהים אחרים ועבדום ונאצוני והפר את בריתי |
[20]For I will bring them into the land (which I swear unto their fathers) that floweth with milk and honey, and they shall eat, and fill themselves, and wax fat: then shall they turn unto other gods, and serve them, and contemn me, and break my covenant. |
| [21]והיה כי תמצאן אתו רעות רבות וצרות וענתה השירה הזאת לפניו לעד כי לא תשכח מפי זרעו כי ידעתי את יצרו אשר הוא עשה היום בטרם אביאנו אל הארץ אשר נשבעתי |
[21]And then when many adversities and tribulations shall come upon them, this song shall answer them to their face as a witness: for it shall not be forgotten out of the mouths of their posterity: for I know their imagination, which they go about even now, before I have brought them into the land which I swear. |
| [22]ויכתב משה את השירה הזאת ביום ההוא וילמדה את בני ישראל |
[22]Moses therefore wrote this song the same day and taught it the children of Israel. |
| [23]ויצו את יהושע בן נון ויאמר חזק ואמץ־כי אתה תביא את בני ישראל אל הארץ אשר נשבעתי להם ואנכי אהיה עמך |
[23]And God gave Joshua the son of Nun a charge, and said, Be strong, and of a good courage: for thou shalt bring the children of Israel into the land, which I swear unto them, and I will be with thee. |
| [24]ויהי ככלות משה לכתב את דברי התורה הזאת־על ספר עד תמם |
[24]And when Moses had made an end of writing the words of this law in a book until he had finished them, |
| [25]ויצו משה את הלוים נשאי ארון ברית יהוה לאמר |
[25]Then Moses commanded the Levites, which bear the ark of the covenant of the Lord, saying, |
| [26]לקח את ספר התורה הזה ושמתם אתו מצד ארון ברית יהוה אלהיכם והיה שם בך לעד |
[26]Take the book of this law, and put ye it in the side of the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God, that it may be there for a witness against thee. |
| [27]כי אנכי ידעתי את מריך ואת ערפך הקשה הן בעודני חי עמכם היום ממרים היתם עם יהוה ואף כי אחרי מותי |
[27]For I know thy rebellion and thy stiff neck: behold, I being yet alive with you this day, ye are rebellious against the Lord: how much more than after my death? |
| [28]הקהילו אלי את כל זקני שבטיכם ושטריכם ואדברה באזניהם את הדברים האלה ואעידה בם את השמים ואת הארץ |
[28]Gather unto me all the elders of your tribes, and your officers, that I may speak these words in their audience, and call heaven and earth to record against them. |
| [29]כי ידעתי אחרי מותי כי השחת תשחתון וסרתם מן הדרך אשר צויתי אתכם וקראת אתכם הרעה באחרית הימים־כי תעשו את הרע בעיני יהוה להכעיסו במעשה ידיכם |
[29]For I am sure that after my death ye will utterly be corrupt and turn from the way, which I have commanded you: therefore evil will come upon you at the length, because ye will commit evil in the sight of the Lord, by provoking him to anger through the work of your hands. |
| [30]וידבר משה באזני כל קהל ישראל את דברי השירה הזאת־עד תמם |
[30]Thus Moses spake in the audience of all the congregation of Israel the words of this song, until he had ended them. |
