[1]Then Moses went and spake these words unto all Israel, |
| [2]And he saidH559[H8799] unto them, I am an hundredH3967 and twentyH6242 yearsH8141 oldH1121 this dayH3117; I canH3201[H8799] no more go outH3318[H8800] and come inH935[H8800]: also the LORDH3068 hath saidH559[H8804] unto me, Thou shalt not go overH5674[H8799] this JordanH3383. |
[2]And said unto them, I am an hundred and twenty year old this day: I can no more go out and in: also the Lord hath said unto me, Thou shalt not go over this Jordan. |
| [3]The LORDH3068 thy GodH430, he will go overH5674[H8802] beforeH6440 thee, and he will destroyH8045[H8686] these nationsH1471 from beforeH6440 thee, and thou shalt possessH3423[H8804] them: and JoshuaH3091, he shall go overH5674[H8802] beforeH6440 thee, as the LORDH3068 hath saidH1696.[H8765] |
[3]The Lord thy God he will go over before thee: he will destroy these nations before thee, and thou shalt possess them. Joshua, he shall go before thee, as the Lord hath said. |
| [4]And the LORDH3068 shall doH6213[H8804] unto them as he didH6213[H8804] to SihonH5511 and to OgH5747, kingsH4428 of the AmoritesH567, and unto the landH776 of them, whom he destroyedH8045.[H8689] |
[4]And the Lord shall do unto them, as he did to Sihon and to Og, kings of the Amorites: and unto their land whom he destroyed. |
| [5]And the LORDH3068 shall give them upH5414[H8804] before your faceH6440, that ye may doH6213[H8804] unto them according unto all the commandmentsH4687 which I have commandedH6680 youH8765. |
[5]And the Lord shall give them before you that ye may do unto them according unto every commandment, which I have commanded you. |
| [6]Be strongH2388[H8798] and of a good courageH553[H8798], fearH3372[H8799] not, nor be afraidH6206[H8799] of themH6440: for the LORDH3068 thy GodH430, he it is that doth goH1980[H8802] with thee; he will not failH7503[H8686] thee, nor forsakeH5800 theeH8799. |
[6]Pluck up your hearts therefore, and be strong: dread not, nor be afraid of them: for the Lord thy God himself doth go with thee: he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee. |
| [7]And MosesH4872 calledH7121[H8799] unto JoshuaH3091, and saidH559[H8799] unto him in the sightH5869 of all IsraelH3478, Be strongH2388[H8798] and of a good courageH553[H8798]: for thou must goH935[H8799] with this peopleH5971 unto the landH776 which the LORDH3068 hath swornH7650[H8738] unto their fathersH1 to giveH5414[H8800] them; and thou shalt cause them to inheritH5157 itH8686. |
[7]And Moses called Joshua, and said unto him in the sight of all Israel, Be of a good courage and strong: for thou shalt go with this people unto the land which the Lord hath sworn unto their fathers, to give them, and thou shalt give it them to inherit. |
| [8]And the LORDH3068, he it is that doth goH1980[H8802] beforeH6440 thee; he will be with thee, he will not failH7503[H8686] thee, neither forsakeH5800[H8799] thee: fearH3372[H8799] not, neither be dismayedH2865.[H8735] |
[8]And the Lord himself doth go before thee: he will be with thee: he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not therefore, nor be discomforted. |
| [9]And MosesH4872 wroteH3789[H8799] this lawH8451, and deliveredH5414[H8799] it unto the priestsH3548 the sonsH1121 of LeviH3878, which bareH5375[H8802] the arkH727 of the covenantH1285 of the LORDH3068, and unto all the eldersH2205 of IsraelH3478. |
[9]And Moses wrote this law, and delivered it unto the priests the sons of Levi (which bear the ark of the covenant of the Lord) and unto all the elders of Israel, |
| [10]And MosesH4872 commandedH6680[H8762] them, sayingH559[H8800], At the endH7093 of every sevenH7651 yearsH8141, in the solemnityH4150 of the yearH8141 of releaseH8059, in the feastH2282 of tabernaclesH5521, |
[10]And Moses commanded them, saying, Every seventh year when the year of freedom shall be in the feast of the tabernacles: |
| [11]When all IsraelH3478 is comeH935[H8800] to appearH7200[H8736] beforeH6440 the LORDH3068 thy GodH430 in the placeH4725 which he shall chooseH977[H8799], thou shalt readH7121[H8799] this lawH8451 before all IsraelH3478 in their hearingH241. |
[11]When all Israel shall come to appear before the Lord thy God, in the place which he shall choose, thou shalt read this law before all Israel that they may hear it. |
| [12]GatherH6950 the peopleH5971 togetherH6950[H8685], menH582, and womenH802, and childrenH2945, and thy strangerH1616 that is within thy gatesH8179, that they may hearH8085[H8799], and that they may learnH3925[H8799], and fearH3372[H8804] the LORDH3068 your GodH430, and observeH8104[H8804] to doH6213[H8800] all the wordsH1697 of this lawH8451: |
[12]Gather the people together: men, and women, and children, and thy stranger that is within thy gates, that they may hear, and that they may learn, and fear the Lord your God, and keep, and observe all the words of this law, |
| [13]And that their childrenH1121, which have not knownH3045[H8804] any thing, may hearH8085[H8799], and learnH3925[H8804] to fearH3372[H8800] the LORDH3068 your GodH430, as long asH3117 ye liveH2416 in the landH127 whither ye go overH5674[H8802] JordanH3383 to possessH3423 itH8800. |
[13]And that their children which have not known it, may hear it, and learn to fear the Lord your God, as long as ye live in the land, whither ye go over Jordan to possess it. |
| [14]And the LORDH3068 saidH559[H8799] unto MosesH4872, Behold, thy daysH3117 approachH7126[H8804] that thou must dieH4191[H8800]: callH7121[H8798] JoshuaH3091, and presentH3320[H8690] yourselves in the tabernacleH168 of the congregationH4150, that I may give him a chargeH6680[H8762]. And MosesH4872 and JoshuaH3091 wentH3212[H8799], and presentedH3320[H8691] themselves in the tabernacleH168 of the congregationH4150. |
[14]Then the Lord said unto Moses, Behold, thy days are come, that thou must die: Call Joshua, and stand ye in the tabernacle of the congregation that I may give him a charge. So Moses and Joshua went, and stood in the tabernacle of the congregation. |
| [15]And the LORDH3068 appearedH7200[H8735] in the tabernacleH168 in a pillarH5982 of a cloudH6051: and the pillarH5982 of the cloudH6051 stoodH5975[H8799] over the doorH6607 of the tabernacleH168. |
[15]And the Lord appeared in the tabernacle, in the pillar of a cloud: and the pillar of the cloud stood over the door of the tabernacle. |
| [16]And the LORDH3068 saidH559[H8799] unto MosesH4872, Behold, thou shalt sleepH7901[H8802] with thy fathersH1; and this peopleH5971 will rise upH6965[H8804], and go a whoringH2181[H8804] afterH310 the godsH430 of the strangersH5236 of the landH776, whither they goH935[H8802] to be amongH7130 them, and will forsakeH5800[H8804] me, and breakH6565[H8689] my covenantH1285 which I have madeH3772 with themH8804. |
[16]And the Lord said unto Moses, Behold, thou shalt sleep with thy fathers, and this people will rise up, and go a whoring after the gods of a strange land (whither they go) to dwell therein and will forsake me, and break my covenant which I have made with them. |
| [17]Then my angerH639 shall be kindledH2734[H8804] against them in that dayH3117, and I will forsakeH5800[H8804] them, and I will hideH5641[H8689] my faceH6440 from them, and they shall be devouredH398[H8800], and manyH7227 evilsH7451 and troublesH6869 shall befallH4672[H8804] them; so that they will sayH559[H8804] in that dayH3117, Are not these evilsH7451 comeH4672[H8804] upon us, because our GodH430 is not among usH7130? |
[17]Wherefore my wrath will wax hot against them at that day, and I will forsake them, and will hide my face from them: then they shall be consumed, and many adversities and tribulations shall come upon them: so then they will say, Are not these troubles come upon me, because God is not with me? |
| [18]And I will surelyH5641[H8687] hideH5641[H8686] my faceH6440 in that dayH3117 for all the evilsH7451 which they shall have wroughtH6213[H8804], in thatH3588 they are turnedH6437[H8804] unto otherH312 godsH430. |
[18]But I will surely hide my face in that day, because of all the evil, which they shall commit, in that they are turned unto other gods. |
| [19]Now therefore writeH3789[H8798] ye this songH7892 for you, and teachH3925[H8761] it the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478: putH7760[H8798] it in their mouthsH6310, that this songH7892 may be a witnessH5707 for me against the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478. |
[19]Now therefore write ye this song for you, and teach it the children of Israel: put it in their mouths, that this song may be my witness against the children of Israel. |
| [20]For when I shall have broughtH935[H8686] them into the landH127 which I swareH7650[H8738] unto their fathersH1, that flowethH2100[H8802] with milkH2461 and honeyH1706; and they shall have eatenH398[H8804] and filledH7646[H8804] themselves, and waxen fatH1878[H8804]; then will they turnH6437[H8804] unto otherH312 godsH430, and serveH5647[H8804] them, and provokeH5006[H8765] me, and breakH6565[H8689] my covenantH1285. |
[20]For I will bring them into the land (which I swear unto their fathers) that floweth with milk and honey, and they shall eat, and fill themselves, and wax fat: then shall they turn unto other gods, and serve them, and contemn me, and break my covenant. |
| [21]And it shall come to pass, when manyH7227 evilsH7451 and troublesH6869 are befallenH4672[H8799] them, that this songH7892 shall testifyH6030[H8804] againstH6440 them as a witnessH5707; for it shall not be forgottenH7911[H8735] out of the mouthsH6310 of their seedH2233: for I knowH3045[H8804] their imaginationH3336 which they go aboutH6213[H8802], even nowH3117, before I have broughtH935[H8686] them into the landH776 which I swareH7650.[H8738] |
[21]And then when many adversities and tribulations shall come upon them, this song shall answer them to their face as a witness: for it shall not be forgotten out of the mouths of their posterity: for I know their imagination, which they go about even now, before I have brought them into the land which I swear. |
| [22]MosesH4872 therefore wroteH3789[H8799] this songH7892 the same dayH3117, and taughtH3925[H8762] it the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478. |
[22]Moses therefore wrote this song the same day and taught it the children of Israel. |
| [23]And he gave JoshuaH3091 the sonH1121 of NunH5126 a chargeH6680[H8762], and saidH559[H8799], Be strongH2388[H8798] and of a good courageH553[H8798]: for thou shalt bringH935[H8686] the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478 into the landH776 which I swareH7650 unto them: and I will be with theeH8738. |
[23]And God gave Joshua the son of Nun a charge, and said, Be strong, and of a good courage: for thou shalt bring the children of Israel into the land, which I swear unto them, and I will be with thee. |
| [24]And it came to pass, when MosesH4872 had made an endH3615[H8763] of writingH3789[H8800] the wordsH1697 of this lawH8451 in a bookH5612, H8552until they were finishedH8800 |
[24]And when Moses had made an end of writing the words of this law in a book until he had finished them, |
| [25]That MosesH4872 commandedH6680[H8762] the LevitesH3881, which bareH5375[H8802] the arkH727 of the covenantH1285 of the LORDH3068, sayingH559,[H8800] |
[25]Then Moses commanded the Levites, which bear the ark of the covenant of the Lord, saying, |
| [26]TakeH3947[H8800] this bookH5612 of the lawH8451, and putH7760[H8804] it in the sideH6654 of the arkH727 of the covenantH1285 of the LORDH3068 your GodH430, that it may be there for a witness against theeH5707. |
[26]Take the book of this law, and put ye it in the side of the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God, that it may be there for a witness against thee. |
| [27]For I knowH3045[H8804] thy rebellionH4805, and thy stiffH7186 neckH6203: behold, while I am yet aliveH2416 with you this dayH3117, ye have been rebelliousH4784[H8688] against the LORDH3068; and how much more afterH310 my deathH4194? |
[27]For I know thy rebellion and thy stiff neck: behold, I being yet alive with you this day, ye are rebellious against the Lord: how much more than after my death? |
| [28]GatherH6950[H8685] unto me all the eldersH2205 of your tribesH7626, and your officersH7860[H8802], that I may speakH1696[H8762] these wordsH1697 in their earsH241, and callH5749 heavenH8064 and earthH776 to recordH5749 against themH8686. |
[28]Gather unto me all the elders of your tribes, and your officers, that I may speak these words in their audience, and call heaven and earth to record against them. |
| [29]For I knowH3045[H8804] that afterH310 my deathH4194 ye will utterlyH7843[H8687] corruptH7843[H8686] yourselves, and turn asideH5493[H8804] from the wayH1870 which I have commandedH6680[H8765] you; and evilH7451 will befallH7122[H8804] you in the latterH319 daysH3117; because ye will doH6213[H8799] evilH7451 in the sightH5869 of the LORDH3068, to provoke him to angerH3707[H8687] through the workH4639 of your handsH3027. |
[29]For I am sure that after my death ye will utterly be corrupt and turn from the way, which I have commanded you: therefore evil will come upon you at the length, because ye will commit evil in the sight of the Lord, by provoking him to anger through the work of your hands. |
| [30]And MosesH4872 spakeH1696[H8762] in the earsH241 of all the congregationH6951 of IsraelH3478 the wordsH1697 of this songH7892, until they were endedH8552.[H8800] |
[30]Thus Moses spake in the audience of all the congregation of Israel the words of this song, until he had ended them. |
