[1]Also you -- being dead in the trespasses and the sins, [1]And you hath he quickened, that were dead in trespasses and sins,
[2]in which once ye did walk according to the age of this world, according to the ruler of the authority of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience, [2]Wherein, in time past ye walked, according to the course of this world, and after the prince that ruleth in the air, even the spirit, that now worketh in the children of disobedience,
[3]among whom also we all did walk once in the desires of our flesh, doing the wishes of the flesh and of the thoughts, and were by nature children of wrath -- as also the others, [3]Among whom we also had our conversation in time past, in the lusts of our flesh, in fulfilling the will of the flesh, and of the mind, and were by nature the children of wrath, as well as others.
[4]and God, being rich in kindness, because of His great love with which He loved us, [4]But God which is rich in mercy, through his great love wherewith he loved us,
[5]even being dead in the trespasses, did make us to live together with the Christ, (by grace ye are having been saved,) [5]Even when we were dead by sins, hath quickened us together in Christ, by whose grace ye are saved,
[6]and did raise [us] up together, and did seat [us] together in the heavenly [places] in Christ Jesus, [6]And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,
[7]that He might show, in the ages that are coming, the exceeding riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus, [7]That he might show in the ages to come the exceeding riches of his grace, through his kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.
[8]for by grace ye are having been saved, through faith, and this not of you -- of God the gift, [8]For by grace are ye saved through faith, and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God,
[9]not of works, that no one may boast; [9]Not of works, lest any man should boast himself.
[10]for of Him we are workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to good works, which God did before prepare, that in them we may walk. [10]For we are his workmanship created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath ordained, that we should walk in them.
[11]Wherefore, remember, that ye [were] once the nations in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that called Circumcision in the flesh made by hands, [11]Wherefore remember that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh, and called uncircumcision of them, which are called circumcision in the flesh, made with hands,
[12]that ye were at that time apart from Christ, having been alienated from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers to the covenants of the promise, having no hope, and without God, in the world; [12]That ye were, I say, at that time without Christ, and were aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and were strangers from the covenants of promise, and had no hope, and were without God in the world.
[13]and now, in Christ Jesus, ye being once afar off became nigh in the blood of the Christ, [13]But now in Christ Jesus, ye which once were far off, are made near by the blood of Christ.
[14]for he is our peace, who did make both one, and the middle wall of the enclosure did break down, [14]For he is our peace, which hath made of both one, and hath broken the stop of the partition wall,
[15]the enmity in his flesh, the law of the commands in ordinances having done away, that the two he might create in himself into one new man, making peace, [15]In abrogating through his flesh the hatred, that is, the Law of commandments which standeth in ordinances, for to make of twain one new man in himself, so making peace,
[16]and might reconcile both in one body to God through the cross, having slain the enmity in it, [16]And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by his cross, and slay hatred thereby,
[17]and having come, he did proclaim good news -- peace to you -- the far-off and the nigh, [17]And came, and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were near.
[18]because through him we have the access -- we both -- in one Spirit unto the Father. [18]For through him we both have an entrance unto the Father by one Spirit.
[19]Then, therefore, ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow-citizens of the saints, and of the household of God, [19]Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners: but citizens with the Saints, and of the household of God,
[20]being built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being chief corner-[stone], [20]And are built upon the foundation of the Apostles and Prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone,
[21]in whom all the building fitly framed together doth increase to an holy sanctuary in the Lord, [21]In whom all the building coupled together, groweth unto an holy Temple in the Lord,
[22]in whom also ye are builded together, for a habitation of God in the Spirit. [22]In whom ye also are built together to be the habitation of God by the Spirit.
