[1]So the kingH4428 and HamanH2001 cameH935[H8799] to banquetH8354[H8800] with EstherH635 the queenH4436. [1]So the king and Haman came to banquet with the queen Esther.
[2]And the kingH4428 saidH559[H8799] again unto EstherH635 on the secondH8145 dayH3117 at the banquetH4960 of wineH3196, What is thy petitionH7596, queenH4436 EstherH635? and it shall be grantedH5414[H8735] thee: and what is thy requestH1246? and it shall be performedH6213[H8735], even to the halfH2677 of the kingdomH4438. [2]And the king said again unto Esther on the second day at the banquet of wine, What is thy petition, queen Esther, that it may be given thee? And what is thy request? It shall be even performed unto the half of the kingdom.
[3]Then EstherH635 the queenH4436 answeredH6030[H8799] and saidH559[H8799], If I have foundH4672[H8804] favourH2580 in thy sightH5869, O kingH4428, and if it pleaseH2895[H8804] the kingH4428, let my lifeH5315 be givenH5414[H8735] me at my petitionH7596, and my peopleH5971 at my requestH1246: [3]And Esther the queen answered, and said, If I have found favor in thy sight, O king, and if it please the king, let my life be given me at my petition, and my people at my request.
[4]For we are soldH4376[H8738], I and my peopleH5971, to be destroyedH8045[H8687], to be slainH2026[H8800], and to perishH6[H8763]. But ifH432 we had been soldH4376[H8738] for bondmenH5650 and bondwomenH8198, I had held my tongueH2790[H8689], although the enemyH6862 could not countervailH7737[H8802] the king'sH4428 damageH5143. [4]For we are sold, I, and my people, to be destroyed, to be slain and to perish: but if we were sold for servants, and for handmaids, I would have held my tongue: although the adversary could not recompense the king's loss.
[5]Then the kingH4428 AhasuerusH325 answeredH559[H8799] and saidH559[H8799] unto EstherH635 the queenH4436, Who is he, and where is he, that durst presumeH4390[H8804] in his heartH3820 to doH6213 soH8800? [5]Then king Ahasuerus [Xerxes] answered, and said unto the queen Esther, Who is he? And where is he that presumeth to do thus?
[6]And EstherH635 saidH559[H8799], The adversaryH376[H6862] and enemyH341[H8802] is this wickedH7451 HamanH2001. Then HamanH2001 was afraidH1204[H8738] beforeH6440 the kingH4428 and the queenH4436. [6]And Esther said, The adversary and enemy is this wicked Haman. Then Haman was afraid before the king and the queen.
[7]And the kingH4428 arisingH6965[H8804] from the banquetH4960 of wineH3196 in his wrathH2534 went into the palaceH1055 gardenH1594: and HamanH2001 stood upH5975[H8804] to make requestH1245[H8763] for his lifeH5315 to EstherH635 the queenH4436; for he sawH7200[H8804] that there was evilH7451 determinedH3615[H8804] against him by the kingH4428. [7]And the king arose from the banquet of wine in his wrath, and went into the palace garden: but Haman stood up, to make request for his life to the queen Esther: for he saw that there was a mischief prepared for him of the king.
[8]Then the kingH4428 returnedH7725[H8804] out of the palaceH1055 gardenH1594 into the placeH1004 of the banquetH4960 of wineH3196; and HamanH2001 was fallenH5307[H8802] upon the bedH4296 whereon EstherH635 was. Then saidH559[H8799] the kingH4428, Will he forceH3533[H8800] the queenH4436 also before me in the houseH1004? As the wordH1697 went outH3318[H8804] of the king'sH4428 mouthH6310, they coveredH2645[H8804] Haman'sH2001 faceH6440. [8]And when the king came again out of the palace garden, into the house where they drank wine, Haman was fallen upon the bed whereon Esther sat! therefore the king said, Will he force the queen also before me in the house? As the word went out of the king's mouth, they covered Haman's face.
[9]And HarbonahH2726, oneH259 of the chamberlainsH5631, saidH559[H8799] beforeH6440 the kingH4428, Behold also, the gallowsH6086 fiftyH2572 cubitsH520 highH1364, which HamanH2001 had madeH6213[H8804] for MordecaiH4782, who had spokenH1696[H8765] goodH2896 for the kingH4428, standethH5975[H8802] in the houseH1004 of HamanH2001. Then the kingH4428 saidH559[H8799], HangH8518 him thereonH8798. [9]And Harbonah one of the eunuchs, said in the presence of the king, Behold, there standeth yet the tree in Haman's house fifty cubits high, which Haman had prepared for Mordecai, that spake good for the king. Then the king said, Hang him thereon.
[10]So they hangedH8518[H8799] HamanH2001 on the gallowsH6086 that he had preparedH3559[H8689] for MordecaiH4782. Then was the king'sH4428 wrathH2534 pacifiedH7918.[H8804] [10]So they hanged Haman on the tree, that he had prepared for Mordecai: then was the king's wrath pacified.
