[1]And AdamH120 knewH3045[H8804] H853EveH2332 his wifeH802; and she conceivedH2029 , H8799and bareH3205[H8799] H853CainH7014, and saidH559 , H8799I have gottenH7069 H8804a manH376 fromH854 the LORDH3068. [1]Afterward the man knew Eve his wife, which conceived and bear Cain, and said, I have obtained a man by the Lord.
[2]And she againH3254 H8686bareH3205 H8800his brotherH251 AbelH1893. And AbelH1893 was a keeperH7462 H8802of sheepH6629, but CainH7014 was a tillerH5647 H8802of the groundH127. [2]And again she brought forth his brother Abel, and Abel was a keeper of sheep, and Cain was a tiller of the ground.
[3]And in processH7093 of timeH3117 it came to pass, that CainH7014 broughtH935 H8686of the fruitH6529 of the groundH127 an offeringH4503 unto the LORDH3068. [3]And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought an oblation unto the Lord of the fruit of the ground.
[4]And AbelH1893, heH1931 also broughtH935 H8689of the firstlingsH1062 of his flockH6629 and of the fatH2459 thereof. And the LORDH3068 had respectH8159 H8799unto AbelH1893 and to his offeringH4503: [4]And Abel also himself brought of the first fruits of his sheep, and of the fat of them, and the Lord had respect unto Abel, and to his offering,
[5]But unto CainH7014 and to his offeringH4503 he had not respectH8159 . H8804And CainH7014 was veryH3966 wrothH2734 , H8799and his countenanceH6440 fellH5307.[H8799] [5]But unto Cain and to his offering he had no regard: wherefore Cain was exceeding wroth, and his countenance fell down.
[6]And the LORDH3068 saidH559 H8799unto CainH7014, Why art thou wrothH2734 ? H8804and why is thy countenanceH6440 fallenH5307?[H8804] [6]Then the Lord said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? And why is thy countenance cast down?
[7]IfH518 thou doest wellH3190 , H8686shalt thou not be acceptedH7613? and if thou doest not wellH3190 , H8686sinH2403 liethH7257 H8802at the doorH6607. And unto thee shall be his desireH8669, and thou shalt ruleH4910 over himH8799. [7]If thou do well, shalt thou not be accepted? And if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door: also unto thee his desire shall be subject, and thou shalt rule over him.
[8]And CainH7014 talkedH559 H8799withH413 AbelH1893 his brotherH251: and it came to pass, when they were in the fieldH7704, that CainH7014 rose upH6965 H8799againstH413 AbelH1893 his brotherH251, and slew himH2026.[H8799] [8]Then Cain spake to Abel his brother. And when they were in the field, Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him.
[9]And the LORDH3068 saidH559 H8799unto CainH7014, WhereH335 is AbelH1893 thy brotherH251? And he saidH559 , H8799I knowH3045 H8804not: Am I my brother'sH251 keeperH8104?[H8802] [9]Then the Lord said unto Cain, Where is Abel thy brother? Who answered, I cannot tell. Am I my brother's keeper?
[10]And he saidH559 , H8799WhatH4100 hast thou doneH6213 ? H8804the voiceH6963 of thy brother'sH251 bloodH1818 criethH6817 H8802unto me from the groundH127. [10]Again he said, What hast thou done? The voice of thy brother's blood cryeth unto me from the ground.
[11]And now art thou cursedH779 H8803from the earthH127, which hath openedH6475 H8804her mouthH6310 to receiveH3947 H8800thy brother'sH251 bloodH1818 from thy handH3027; [11]Now therefore thou art cursed from the earth, which hath opened her mouth to receive thy brother's blood from thine hand.
[12]WhenH3588 thou tillestH5647 H8799the groundH127, it shall not henceforthH3254 H8686yieldH5414 H8800unto thee her strengthH3581; a fugitiveH5128 H8801and a vagabondH5110 H8802shalt thou be in the earthH776. [12]When thou shalt till the ground, it shall not henceforth yield unto thee her strength: a vagabond and a renegade shalt thou be in the earth.
[13]And CainH7014 saidH559 H8799unto the LORDH3068, My punishmentH5771 is greaterH1419 than I can bearH5375.[H8800] [13]Then Cain said to the Lord, My punishment is greater, than I can bear.
[14]Behold, thou hast driven me outH1644 H8765this dayH3117 from the faceH6440 of the earthH127; and fromH5921 thy faceH6440 shall I be hidH5641 ; H8735and I shall be a fugitiveH5128 H8801and a vagabondH5110 H8802in the earthH776; and it shall come to passH1961 , H8804that every one that findeth meH4672 H8802shall slay meH2026.[H8799] [14]Behold, thou hast cast me out this day from the earth, and from thy face shall I be hid, and shall be a vagabond, and a renegade in the earth, and whosoever findeth me, shall slay me.
[15]And the LORDH3068 saidH559 H8799unto him, ThereforeH3651 whosoever slayethH2026 H8802CainH7014, vengeance shall be takenH5358 H8714on him sevenfoldH7659. And the LORDH3068 setH7760 H8799a markH226 upon CainH7014, lestH1115 any findingH4672 H8802him should killH5221 himH8687. [15]Then the Lord said unto him, Doubtless whosoever slayeth Cain, he shall be punished seven fold. And the Lord set a mark upon Cain, lest any man finding him should kill him.
[16]And CainH7014 went outH3318 H8799from the presenceH6440 of the LORDH3068, and dweltH3427 H8799in the landH776 of NodH5113, on the eastH6926 of EdenH5731. [16]Then Cain went out from the presence of the Lord and dwelt in the land of Nod toward the east side of Eden.
[17]And CainH7014 knewH3045 H8799his wifeH802; and she conceivedH2029 , H8799and bareH3205 H8799EnochH2585: and he buildedH1129 H8802a cityH5892, and calledH7121 H8799the nameH8034 of the cityH5892, after the nameH8034 of his sonH1121, EnochH2585. [17]Cain also knew his wife, which conceived and bear Enoch: and he built a city, and called the name of the city by the name of his son, Enoch.
[18]And unto EnochH2585 was bornH3205 H8735IradH5897: and IradH5897 begatH3205 H8804MehujaelH4232: and MehujaelH4232 begatH3205 H8804MethusaelH4967: and MethusaelH4967 begatH3205 H8804LamechH3929. [18]And to Enoch was born Irad, and Irad begat Mehujael, and Mehujael begat Methushael, and Methushael begat Lamech.
[19]And LamechH3929 tookH3947 H8799unto him twoH8147 wivesH802: the nameH8034 of the oneH259 was AdahH5711, and the nameH8034 of the otherH8145 ZillahH6741. [19]And Lamech took him two wives: the name of the one was Adah, and the name of the other Zillah.
[20]And AdahH5711 bareH3205 H8799JabalH2989: he was the fatherH1 of such as dwellH3427 H8802in tentsH168, and of such as have cattleH4735. [20]And Adah bear Jabal, who was the father of such as dwell in the tents, and of such as have cattle.
[21]And his brother'sH251 nameH8034 was JubalH3106: he was the fatherH1 of all such as handleH8610 H8802the harpH3658 and organH5748. [21]And his brother's name was Jubal, who was the father of all that play on the harp and organs.
[22]And ZillahH6741, she also bareH3205 H8804TubalcainH8423, an instructerH3913 H8803of every artificerH2794 in brassH5178 and ironH1270: and the sisterH269 of TubalcainH8423 was NaamahH5279. [22]And Zillah also bear Tubal-cain, who wrought cunningly every craft of brass and of iron: and the sister of Tubal-cain was Naamah.
[23]And LamechH3929 saidH559 H8799unto his wivesH802, AdahH5711 and ZillahH6741, HearH8085 H8798my voiceH6963; ye wivesH802 of LamechH3929, hearkenH238 H8685unto my speechH565: for I have slainH2026 H8804a manH376 to my woundingH6482, and a young manH3206 to my hurtH2250. [23]Then Lamech said unto his wives Adah and Zillah, Hear my voice, ye wives of Lamech: hearken unto my speech: for I would slay a man in my wound, and a young man in mine hurt.
[24]IfH3588 CainH7014 shall be avengedH5358 H8714sevenfoldH7659, truly LamechH3929 seventyH7657 and sevenfoldH7651. [24]If Cain shall be avenged seven fold, truly Lamech, seventy times seven fold.
[25]And AdamH120 knewH3045 H8799his wifeH802 againH5750; and she bareH3205 H8799a sonH1121, and calledH7121 H8799his nameH8034 SethH8352: For GodH430, said she, hath appointedH7896 H8804me anotherH312 seedH2233 insteadH8478 of AbelH1893, whomH3588 CainH7014 slewH2026.[H8804] [25]And Adam knew his wife again, and she bear a son, and she called his name Seth: for God, said she, hath appointed me another seed for Abel, because Cain slew him.
[26]And to SethH8352, to himH1931 also there was bornH3205 H8795a sonH1121; and he calledH7121 H8799his nameH8034 EnosH583: then began menH2490 H8717to callH7121 H8800upon the nameH8034 of the LORDH3068.
