[1]I will standH5975[H8799] upon my watchH4931, and setH3320[H8691] me upon the towerH4692, and will watchH6822[H8762] to seeH7200[H8800] what he will sayH1696[H8762] unto me, and what I shall answerH7725[H8686] when I am reprovedH8433. |
[1]I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the tower, and will look and see what he would say unto me, and what I shall answer to him that rebuketh me. |
[2]And the LORDH3068 answeredH6030[H8799] me, and saidH559[H8799], WriteH3789[H8798] the visionH2377, and make it plainH874[H8761] upon tablesH3871, that he may runH7323[H8799] that readethH7121 itH8802. |
[2]And the Lord answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it. |
[3]For the visionH2377 is yet for an appointed timeH4150, but at the endH7093 it shall speakH6315[H8686], and not lieH3576[H8762]: though it tarryH4102[H8698], waitH2442[H8761] for it; because it will surelyH935[H8800] comeH935[H8799], it will not tarryH309.[H8762] |
[3]For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the last it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait: for it shall surely come, and shall not stay. |
[4]Behold, his soulH5315 which is lifted upH6075[H8795] is not uprightH3474[H8804] in him: but the justH6662 shall liveH2421[H8799] by his faithH530. |
[4]Behold, he that lifteth up himself, his mind is not upright in him, but the just shall live by his faith, |
[5]Yea also, because he transgressethH898[H8802] by wineH3196, he is a proudH3093 manH1397, neither keepeth at homeH5115[H8799], who enlargethH7337[H8689] his desireH5315 as hellH7585, and is as deathH4194, and cannot be satisfiedH7646[H8799], but gatherethH622[H8799] unto him all nationsH1471, and heapethH6908[H8799] unto him all peopleH5971: |
[5]Yea, indeed the proud man is as he that transgresseth by wine: therefore shall he not endure, because he hath enlarged his desire as the hell, and is as death, and cannot be satisfied, but gathereth unto him all nations, and heapeth unto him all people. |
[6]Shall not all these take upH5375[H8799] a parableH4912 against him, and a tauntingH4426 proverbH2420 against him, and sayH559[H8799], WoeH1945 to him that increasethH7235[H8688] that which is not his! how long? and to him that ladethH3513[H8688] himself with thick clayH5671! |
[6]Shall not all these take up a parable against him, and a taunting proverb against him, and say, Ho, he that increaseth that which is not his? How long? And he that ladeth himself with thick clay? |
[7]Shall they not rise upH6965[H8799] suddenlyH6621 that shall biteH5391[H8802] thee, and awakeH3364[H8799] that shall vexH2111[H8772] thee, and thou shalt be for booties unto themH4933? |
[7]Shall they not rise up suddenly, that shall bite thee? And awake, that shall stir thee? And thou shalt be their prey? |
[8]Because thou hast spoiledH7997[H8804] manyH7227 nationsH1471, all the remnantH3499 of the peopleH5971 shall spoilH7997[H8799] thee; because of men'sH120 bloodH1818, and for the violenceH2555 of the landH776, of the cityH7151, and of all that dwellH3427 thereinH8802. |
[8]Because thou hast spoiled many nations, all the remnant of the people shall spoil thee, because of men's blood, and for the wrong done in the land, in the city, and unto all that dwell therein. |
[9]WoeH1945 to him that covetethH1214[H8802] an evilH7451 covetousnessH1215 to his houseH1004, that he may setH7760[H8800] his nestH7064 on highH4791, that he may be deliveredH5337[H8736] from the powerH3709 of evilH7451! |
[9]Ho, he that coveteth an evil covetousness to his house, that he may set his nest on high, to escape from the power of evil. |
[10]Thou hast consultedH3289[H8804] shameH1322 to thy houseH1004 by cutting offH7096[H8800] manyH7227 peopleH5971, and hast sinnedH2398[H8802] against thy soulH5315. |
[10]Thou hast consulted shame to thine own house, by destroying many people, and hast sinned against thine own soul. |
[11]For the stoneH68 shall cry outH2199[H8799] of the wallH7023, and the beam outH3714 of the timberH6086 shall answerH6030 itH8799. |
[11]For the stone shall cry out of the wall, and the beam out of the timber shall answer it. |
[12]WoeH1945 to him that buildethH1129[H8802] a townH5892 with bloodH1818, and stablishethH3559[H8790] a cityH7151 by iniquityH5766! |
[12]Woe unto him that buildeth a town with blood, and erecteth a city by iniquity. |
[13]Behold, is it not of the LORDH3068 of hostsH6635 that the peopleH5971 shall labourH3021[H8799] in the veryH1767 fireH784, and the peopleH3816 shall wearyH3286[H8799] themselves for veryH1767 vanityH7385? |
[13]Behold, is it not of the Lord of hosts that the people shall labor in the very fire? The people shall even weary themselves for very vanity. |
[14]For the earthH776 shall be filledH4390[H8735] with the knowledgeH3045[H8800] of the gloryH3519 of the LORDH3068, as the watersH4325 coverH3680[H8762] the seaH3220. |
[14]For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea. |
[15]WoeH1945 unto him that giveth his neighbourH7453 drinkH8248[H8688], that puttestH5596[H8764] thy bottleH2573 to him, and makest him drunkenH7937[H8763] also, that thou mayest lookH5027[H8687] on their nakednessH4589! |
[15]Woe unto him that giveth his neighbor drink: thou joinest thine heat, and makest him drunken also, that thou mayest see their privities. |
[16]Thou art filledH7646[H8804] with shameH7036 for gloryH3519: drinkH8354[H8798] thou also, and let thy foreskin be uncoveredH6188[H8734]: the cupH3563 of the LORD'SH3068 right handH3225 shall be turnedH5437[H8735] unto thee, and shameful spewingH7022 shall be on thy gloryH3519. |
[16]Thou art filled with shame for glory: drink thou also, and be made naked: the cup of the Lord's right hand shall be turned unto thee, and shameful spewing shall be for thy glory. |
[17]For the violenceH2555 of LebanonH3844 shall coverH3680[H8762] thee, and the spoilH7701 of beastsH929, which made them afraidH2865[H8686], because of men'sH120 bloodH1818, and for the violenceH2555 of the landH776, of the cityH7151, and of all that dwellH3427 thereinH8802. |
[17]For the cruelty of Lebanon shall cover thee: so shall the spoil of the beasts, which made them afraid, because of men's blood, and for the wrong done in the land, in the city, and unto all that dwell therein. |
[18]What profitethH3276[H8689] the graven imageH6459 that the makerH3335[H8802] thereof hath gravenH6458[H8804] it; the molten imageH4541, and a teacherH3384[H8688] of liesH8267, that the makerH3335[H8802] of his workH3336 trustethH982[H8804] therein, to makeH6213[H8800] dumbH483 idolsH457? |
[18]What profiteth the image? For the maker thereof hath made it an image, and a teacher of lies, though he that made it, trust therein, when he maketh dumb idols. |
[19]WoeH1945 unto him that saithH559[H8802] to the woodH6086, AwakeH6974[H8685]; to the dumbH1748 stoneH68, AriseH5782[H8798], it shall teachH3384[H8686]! Behold, it is laidH8610[H8803] over with goldH2091 and silverH3701, and there is no breathH7307 at all in the midst of itH7130. |
[19]Woe unto him that saith to the wood, Awake, and to the dumb stone, Rise up, it shall teach thee: behold, it is laid over with gold and silver, and there is no breath in it. |
[20]But the LORDH3068 is in his holyH6944 templeH1964: let all the earthH776 keep silenceH2013[H8761] before himH6440. |
[20]But the Lord is in his holy temple: let all the earth keep silence before him. |
