[1]BeholdH2005, the LORD'SH3068 handH3027 is not shortenedH7114[H8804], that it cannot saveH3467[H8687]; neither his earH241 heavyH3513[H8804], that it cannot hearH8085:[H8800] [1]Behold, the Lord's hand is not shortened, that it cannot save: neither is his ear heavy that it cannot hear.
[2]But your iniquitiesH5771 have separatedH914[H8688] betweenH996 you and your GodH430, and your sinsH2403 have hidH5641[H8689] his faceH6440 from you, that he will not hearH8085.[H8800] [2]But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.
[3]For your handsH3709 are defiledH1351[H8738] with bloodH1818, and your fingersH676 with iniquityH5771; your lipsH8193 have spokenH1696[H8765] liesH8267, your tongueH3956 hath mutteredH1897[H8799] perversenessH5766. [3]For your hands are defiled with blood, and your fingers with iniquity: your lips have spoken lies and your tongue hath murmured iniquity.
[4]None callethH7121[H8802] for justiceH6664, nor any pleadethH8199[H8737] for truthH530: they trustH982[H8800] in vanityH8414, and speakH1696[H8763] liesH7723; they conceiveH2029[H8800] mischiefH5999, and bring forthH3205[H8687] iniquityH205. [4]No man calleth for justice: no man contendeth for truth: they trust in vanity, and speak vain things: they conceive mischief, and bring forth iniquity.
[5]They hatchH1234[H8765] cockatrice'H6848 eggsH1000, and weaveH707[H8799] the spider'sH5908 webH6980: he that eatethH398[H8802] of their eggsH1000 diethH4191[H8799], and that which is crushedH2116 breaketh outH1234[H8735] into a viperH660. [5]They hatch cockatrice' eggs, and weave the spider's web: he that eateth of their eggs dieth, and that which is trod upon, breaketh out into a serpent.
[6]Their websH6980 shall not become garmentsH899, neither shall they coverH3680[H8691] themselves with their worksH4639: their worksH4639 are worksH4639 of iniquityH205, and the actH6467 of violenceH2555 is in their handsH3709. [6]Their webs shall be no garment, neither shall they cover themselves with their labors: for their works are works of iniquity, and the work of cruelty is in their hands.
[7]Their feetH7272 runH7323[H8799] to evilH7451, and they make hasteH4116[H8762] to shedH8210[H8800] innocentH5355 bloodH1818: their thoughtsH4284 are thoughtsH4284 of iniquityH205; wastingH7701 and destructionH7667 are in their pathsH4546. [7]Their feet run to evil, and they make haste to shed innocent blood: their thoughts are wicked thoughts: desolation and destruction is in their paths.
[8]The wayH1870 of peaceH7965 they knowH3045[H8804] not; and there is no judgmentH4941 in their goingsH4570: they have made them crookedH6140[H8765] pathsH5410: whosoever goethH1869[H8802] therein shall not knowH3045[H8804] peaceH7965. [8]The way of peace they know not, and there is none equity in their goings: they have made them crooked paths: whosoever goeth therein, shall not know peace.
[9]Therefore is judgmentH4941 farH7368[H8804] from us, neither doth justiceH6666 overtakeH5381[H8686] us: we waitH6960[H8762] for lightH216, but behold obscurityH2822; for brightnessH5054, but we walkH1980[H8762] in darknessH653. [9]Therefore is judgment far from us, neither doth justice come near unto us: we wait for light, but lo, it is darkness: for brightness, but we walk in darkness.
[10]We gropeH1659[H8762] for the wallH7023 like the blindH5787, and we gropeH1659[H8762] as if we had no eyesH5869: we stumbleH3782[H8804] at noondayH6672 as in the nightH5399; we are in desolateH820 places as deadH4191 menH8801. [10]We grope for the wall like the blind, and we grope as one without eyes: we stumble at the noonday as in the twilight: we are in solitary places, as dead men.
[11]We roarH1993[H8799] all like bearsH1677, and mournH1897[H8799] soreH1897[H8800] like dovesH3123: we lookH6960[H8762] for judgmentH4941, but there is none; for salvationH3444, but it is far offH7368 from usH8804. [11]We roar all like bears, and mourn like doves: we look for equity, but there is none: for health, but it is far from us.
[12]For our transgressionsH6588 are multipliedH7231[H8804] before thee, and our sinsH2403 testifyH6030[H8804] against us: for our transgressionsH6588 are with us; and as for our iniquitiesH5771, we knowH3045 themH8804; [12]For our trespasses are many before thee, and our sins testify against us: for our trespasses are with us, and we know our iniquities
[13]In transgressingH6586[H8800] and lyingH3584[H8763] against the LORDH3068, and departing awayH5253[H8800] fromH310 our GodH430, speakingH1696[H8763] oppressionH6233 and revoltH5627, conceivingH2029[H8780] and utteringH1897[H8774] from the heartH3820 wordsH1697 of falsehoodH8267. [13]In trespassing and lying against the Lord, and we have departed away from our God, and have spoken of cruelty and rebellion, conceiving and uttering out of the heart false matters.
[14]And judgmentH4941 is turned awayH5253[H8717] backwardH268, and justiceH6666 standethH5975[H8799] afar offH7350: for truthH571 is fallenH3782[H8804] in the streetH7339, and equityH5229 cannotH3201[H8799] enterH935.[H8800] [14]Therefore judgment is turned backward, and justice standeth far off: for truth is fallen in the street, and equity cannot enter.
[15]Yea, truthH571 failethH5737[H8737]; and he that departethH5493[H8804] from evilH7451 maketh himself a preyH7997[H8711]: and the LORDH3068 sawH7200[H8799] it, and it displeasedH3415[H8799][H5869] him that there was no judgmentH4941. [15]Yea, truth faileth, and he that refraineth from evil, maketh himself a prey: and when the Lord saw it, it displeased him, that there was no judgment.
[16]And he sawH7200[H8799] that there was no manH376, and wonderedH8074[H8709] that there was no intercessorH6293[H8688]: therefore his armH2220 brought salvationH3467[H8686] unto him; and his righteousnessH6666, it sustainedH5564 himH8804. [16]And when he saw that there was no man, he wondered that none would offer himself. Therefore his arm did save it, and his righteousness itself did sustain it.
[17]For he put onH3847[H8799] righteousnessH6666 as a breastplateH8302, and an helmetH3553 of salvationH3444 upon his headH7218; and he put onH3847[H8799] the garmentsH899 of vengeanceH5359 for clothingH8516, and was cladH5844[H8799] with zealH7068 as a clokeH4598. [17]For he put on righteousness, as an habergeon, and an helmet of salvation upon his head, and he put on the garments of vengeance for clothing, and was clad with zeal as a cloak.
[18]According toH5921 their deedsH1578, accordingly he will repayH7999[H8762], furyH2534 to his adversariesH6862, recompenceH1576 to his enemiesH341[H8802]; to the islandsH339 he will repayH7999[H8762] recompenceH1576. [18]As to make recompense, as to requite the fury of the adversaries with a recompense to his enemies: he will fully repair the islands.
[19]So shall they fearH3372[H8799] the nameH8034 of the LORDH3068 from the westH4628, and his gloryH3519 from the risingH4217 of the sunH8121. When the enemyH6862 shall come inH935[H8799] like a floodH5104, the SpiritH7307 of the LORDH3068 shall lift up a standardH5127 against himH8790. [19]So shall they fear the name of the Lord from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun: for the enemy shall come like a flood: but the spirit of the Lord shall chase him away.
[20]And the RedeemerH1350[H8802] shall comeH935[H8804] to ZionH6726, and unto them that turnH7725[H8802] from transgressionH6588 in JacobH3290, saithH5002[H8803] the LORDH3068. [20]And the Redeemer shall come unto Zion, and unto them that turn from iniquity in Jacob, saith the Lord.
[21]As for me, this is my covenantH1285 with them, saithH559[H8804] the LORDH3068; My spiritH7307 that is upon thee, and my wordsH1697 which I have putH7760[H8804] in thy mouthH6310, shall not departH4185[H8799] out of thy mouthH6310, nor out of the mouthH6310 of thy seedH2233, nor out of the mouthH6310 of thy seed'sH2233 seedH2233, saithH559[H8804] the LORDH3068, from henceforth and forH5704 everH5769. [21]And I will make this my covenant with them, saith the Lord. My spirit that is upon thee, and my words, which I have put in thy mouth, shall not depart out of thy mouth, nor out of the mouth of thy seed, nor out of the mouth of the seed of thy seed, saith the Lord, from henceforth even forever.
