[1]In the begynnyng of the raigne of Iehoakim the sonne of Iosias kyng of Iuda, came this worde from the Lorde, saying [1]In the beginningH7225 of the reignH4468 of JehoiakimH3079 the sonH1121 of JosiahH2977 kingH4428 of JudahH3063 came this wordH1697 from the LORDH3068, sayingH559,[H8800]
[2]Thus saith the Lord: Stande in the court of the Lordes house, & speake vnto al them which (out of the citie of Iuda) come to do worship in the Lordes house, all the wordes that I commaunde thee to say: loke that thou kepe not one worde backe [2]Thus saithH559[H8804] the LORDH3068; StandH5975[H8798] in the courtH2691 of the LORD'SH3068 houseH1004, and speakH1696[H8765] unto all the citiesH5892 of JudahH3063, which comeH935[H8802] to worshipH7812[H8692] in the LORD'SH3068 houseH1004, all the wordsH1697 that I commandH6680[H8765] thee to speakH1696[H8763] unto them; diminishH1639[H8799] not a wordH1697:
[3](If peraduenture they wyll hearken and turne euery man from his wicked way, that I may also repent of the plague which I haue determined to bryng vpon them, because of their wicked inuentions. [3]If so be they will hearkenH8085[H8799], and turnH7725[H8799] every manH376 from his evilH7451 wayH1870, that I may repentH5162[H8738] me of the evilH7451, which I purposeH2803[H8802] to doH6213[H8800] unto them becauseH6440 of the evilH7455 of their doingsH4611.
[4]And after this maner shalt thou speake vnto them, Thus saith the Lord: If ye wyll not obey me, to walke in my lawes which I haue geuen you [4]And thou shalt sayH559[H8804] unto them, Thus saithH559[H8804] the LORDH3068; If ye will not hearkenH8085[H8799] to me, to walkH3212[H8800] in my lawH8451, which I have setH5414[H8804] before youH6440,
[5]And to heare the wordes of my seruauntes the prophetes whom I sent vnto you, risyng vp tymely, and styll sendyng, yet you haue not hearkened [5]To hearkenH8085[H8800] to the wordsH1697 of my servantsH5650 the prophetsH5030, whom I sentH7971[H8802] unto you, both rising up earlyH7925[H8687], and sendingH7971[H8800] H8085them, but ye have not hearkenedH8804
[6]Then wyll I do to this house as I did vnto Silo, and wyll make this citie to be abhorred of all the people of the earth [6]Then will I makeH5414[H8804] this houseH1004 like ShilohH7887, and will makeH5414[H8799] this cityH5892 a curseH7045 to all the nationsH1471 of the earthH776.
[7]And the priestes, the prophetes, and all the people hearde Ieremie preache these wordes in the house of the Lorde [7]So the priestsH3548 and the prophetsH5030 and all the peopleH5971 heardH8085[H8799] JeremiahH3414 speakingH1696[H8764] these wordsH1697 in the houseH1004 of the LORDH3068.
[8]Nowe when he had spoken out all the wordes that the Lorde commaunded hym to preache vnto the people, then the priestes, the prophetes, and all the people toke holde vpon hym, and sayde, Thou shalt dye [8]Now it came to pass, when JeremiahH3414 had made an endH3615[H8763] of speakingH1696[H8763] all that the LORDH3068 had commandedH6680[H8765] him to speakH1696[H8763] unto all the peopleH5971, that the priestsH3548 and the prophetsH5030 and all the peopleH5971 tookH8610[H8799] him, sayingH559[H8800], Thou shalt surelyH4191[H8800] dieH4191.[H8799]
[9]Howe darest thou be so bolde as to say in the name of the Lord, it shall happen to this house as it did vnto Silo, and this citie shalbe so waste that no man may dwell therin [9]Why hast thou prophesiedH5012[H8738] in the nameH8034 of the LORDH3068, sayingH559[H8800], This houseH1004 shall be like ShilohH7887, and this cityH5892 shall be desolateH2717[H8799] without an inhabitantH3427[H8802]? And all the peopleH5971 were gatheredH6950[H8735] against JeremiahH3414 in the houseH1004 of the LORDH3068.
[10]And when all the people were gathered about Ieremie in the house of the Lorde, the princes of Iuda hearde of this rumour, and they came soone out of the kynges palace into the house of the Lorde, and sate them downe before the newe doore of the Lorde [10]When the princesH8269 of JudahH3063 heardH8085[H8799] these thingsH1697, then they came upH5927[H8799] from the king'sH4428 houseH1004 unto the houseH1004 of the LORDH3068, and sat downH3427[H8799] in the entryH6607 of the newH2319 gateH8179 of the LORD'S houseH3068.
[11]Then spake the priestes and the prophetes vnto the rulers, and to all the people these wordes, This man is worthy to dye: for he hath preached agaynst this citie, as ye your selues haue hearde with your eares [11]Then spakeH559[H8799] the priestsH3548 and the prophetsH5030 unto the princesH8269 and to all the peopleH5971, sayingH559[H8800], This manH376 is worthyH4941 to dieH4194; for he hath prophesiedH5012[H8738] against this cityH5892, as ye have heardH8085[H8804] with your earsH241.
[12]Then sayde Ieremie vnto the rulers and to all the people, The Lorde hath sent me to preache agaynst this house, and agaynst this citie, all the wordes that ye haue hearde [12]Then spakeH559[H8799] JeremiahH3414 unto all the princesH8269 and to all the peopleH5971, sayingH559[H8800], The LORDH3068 sentH7971[H8804] me to prophesyH5012[H8736] against this houseH1004 and against this cityH5892 all the wordsH1697 that ye have heardH8085.[H8804]
[13]Therfore amende your wayes, and your aduisementes, and be obedient vnto the voyce of the Lorde your God, so shall the Lorde repent of the plague that he hath deuised agaynst you [13]Therefore now amendH3190[H8685] your waysH1870 and your doingsH4611, and obeyH8085[H8798] the voiceH6963 of the LORDH3068 your GodH430; and the LORDH3068 will repentH5162[H8735] him of the evilH7451 that he hath pronouncedH1696 against youH8765.
[14]Nowe as for me I am in your handes, do with me as you thinke expedient and good [14]As for me, behold, I am in your handH3027: doH6213[H8798] with me as seemethH5869 goodH2896 and meet unto youH3477.
[15]But this shall ye knowe yf ye put me to death, ye shall make your selues, this citie, and all the inhabitours therof giltie of innocent blood: For this is of a trueth, that the Lorde hath sent me vnto you, to speake all these wordes in your eares [15]But knowH3045[H8799] ye for certainH3045[H8800], that if ye put me to deathH4191[H8688], ye shall surely bringH5414[H8802] innocentH5355 bloodH1818 upon yourselves, and upon this cityH5892, and upon the inhabitantsH3427[H8802] thereof: for of a truthH571 the LORDH3068 hath sentH7971[H8804] me unto you to speakH1696[H8763] all these wordsH1697 in your earsH241.
[16]Then sayde the rulers and the people vnto the priestes and prophetes: This man may not be condempned to death, for he hath preached vnto vs in the name of the Lorde our God [16]Then saidH559[H8799] the princesH8269 and all the peopleH5971 unto the priestsH3548 and to the prophetsH5030; This manH376 is not worthyH4941 to dieH4194: for he hath spokenH1696[H8765] to us in the nameH8034 of the LORDH3068 our GodH430.
[17]The elders also of the lande stoode vp, and sayde thus vnto all the people [17]Then rose upH6965[H8799] certainH582 of the eldersH2205 of the landH776, and spakeH559[H8799] to all the assemblyH6951 of the peopleH5971, sayingH559,[H8800]
[18]Micheas the Morasthite, which was a prophete vnder Ezekias kyng of Iuda, spake to all the people of Iuda, thus saith the Lorde of hoastes, Sion shalbe plowed like a fielde, Hierusalem shalbe an heape of stones, and the hyll of the Lordes house shalbe turned to an hye wood [18]MicahH4320 the MorasthiteH4183 prophesiedH5012[H8737] in the daysH3117 of HezekiahH2396 kingH4428 of JudahH3063, and spakeH559[H8799] to all the peopleH5971 of JudahH3063, sayingH559[H8800], Thus saithH559[H8804] the LORDH3068 of hostsH6635; ZionH6726 shall be plowedH2790[H8735] like a fieldH7704, and JerusalemH3389 shall become heapsH5856, and the mountainH2022 of the houseH1004 as the high placesH1116 of a forestH3293.
[19]Did Ezekias the kyng of Iuda and all the people of Iuda put hym to death for this? No veryly: but rather feared the Lord, and made their prayer vnto hym, for the which cause also the Lorde repented of the plague that he had deuised agaynst them: Shoulde we then do such a shamefull deede agaynst our soules [19]Did HezekiahH2396 kingH4428 of JudahH3063 and all JudahH3063 put him at allH4191[H8687] to deathH4191[H8689]? did he not fearH3373 the LORDH3068, and besoughtH2470[H8762] the LORDH3068[H6440], and the LORDH3068 repentedH5162[H8735] him of the evilH7451 which he had pronouncedH1696[H8765] against them? ThusH587 might we procureH6213[H8802] greatH1419 evilH7451 against our soulsH5315.
[20]There was a prophete also that preached stifly in the name of the Lorde, called Urias the sonne of Semaiah of Kiriathiarim: this man also preached agaynst this citie and agaynst this lande, according to all as Ieremie saith [20]And there was also a manH376 that prophesiedH5012[H8693] in the nameH8034 of the LORDH3068, UrijahH223 the sonH1121 of ShemaiahH8098 of KirjathjearimH7157, who prophesiedH5012[H8735] against this cityH5892 and against this landH776 according to all the wordsH1697 of JeremiahH3414:
[21]Nowe when Iehoakim the king with all the estates and princes had hearde his wordes, the kyng went about to slay him: When Urias perceaued that, he was afrayde and fled, and departed into Egypt [21]And when JehoiakimH3079 the kingH4428, with all his mighty menH1368, and all the princesH8269, heardH8085[H8799] his wordsH1697, the kingH4428 soughtH1245[H8762] to put him to deathH4191[H8687]: but when UrijahH223 heardH8085[H8799] it, he was afraidH3372[H8799], and fledH1272[H8799], and wentH935[H8799] into EgyptH4714;
[22]Then Iehoakim the kyng sent seruauntes into the lande of Egypt [namelye] Elnathan the sonne of Achbor, and certayne men with hym into Egypt [22]And JehoiakimH3079 the kingH4428 sentH7971[H8799] menH582 into EgyptH4714, namely, ElnathanH494 the sonH1121 of AchborH5907, and certain menH582 with him into EgyptH4714.
[23]Which fetched Urias out of Egypt, and brought him vnto king Iehoakim, that slue hym with the sworde, and cast his dead body into the common peoples graue [23]And they fetched forthH3318[H8686] UrijahH223 out of EgyptH4714, and broughtH935[H8686] him unto JehoiakimH3079 the kingH4428; who slewH5221[H8686] him with the swordH2719, and castH7993[H8686] his dead bodyH5038 into the gravesH6913 of the commonH1121 peopleH5971.
[24]But Ahikam the sonne of Saphan helped Hieremie, that he came not into the handes of the people to be slayne [24]Nevertheless the handH3027 of AhikamH296 the sonH1121 of ShaphanH8227 was with JeremiahH3414, that they should not giveH5414[H8800] him into the handH3027 of the peopleH5971 to put him to deathH4191.[H8687]
