[1]In the beginningH7225 of the reignH4468 of JehoiakimH3079 the sonH1121 of JosiahH2977 kingH4428 of JudahH3063 came this wordH1697 from the LORDH3068, sayingH559,[H8800] [1]In the bigynnyng of the rewme of Joachym, the sone of Josie, kyng of Juda, this word was maad of the Lord, and seide,
[2]Thus saithH559[H8804] the LORDH3068; StandH5975[H8798] in the courtH2691 of the LORD'SH3068 houseH1004, and speakH1696[H8765] unto all the citiesH5892 of JudahH3063, which comeH935[H8802] to worshipH7812[H8692] in the LORD'SH3068 houseH1004, all the wordsH1697 that I commandH6680[H8765] thee to speakH1696[H8763] unto them; diminishH1639[H8799] not a wordH1697: [2]The Lord seide these thingis, Stonde thou in the porche of the hous of the Lord, and thou schalt speke to alle the citees of Juda, fro whiche thei comen for to worschipe in the hous of the Lord, alle the wordis whiche Y comaundide to thee, that thou speke to hem; nyle thou withdrawe a word;
[3]If so be they will hearkenH8085[H8799], and turnH7725[H8799] every manH376 from his evilH7451 wayH1870, that I may repentH5162[H8738] me of the evilH7451, which I purposeH2803[H8802] to doH6213[H8800] unto them becauseH6440 of the evilH7455 of their doingsH4611. [3]if perauenture thei heren, and ben conuertid, ech man fro his yuele weie, and it repente me of the yuel which Y thouyte to do to hem for the malices of her studies.
[4]And thou shalt sayH559[H8804] unto them, Thus saithH559[H8804] the LORDH3068; If ye will not hearkenH8085[H8799] to me, to walkH3212[H8800] in my lawH8451, which I have setH5414[H8804] before youH6440, [4]And thou schalt seie to hem, The Lord seith these thingis, If ye heren not me, that ye go in my lawe which Y yaf to you,
[5]To hearkenH8085[H8800] to the wordsH1697 of my servantsH5650 the prophetsH5030, whom I sentH7971[H8802] unto you, both rising up earlyH7925[H8687], and sendingH7971[H8800] H8085them, but ye have not hearkenedH8804 [5]that ye here the wordis of my seruauntis, profetis, whiche Y risynge bi niyte, and dressynge, sente to you, and ye herden not;
[6]Then will I makeH5414[H8804] this houseH1004 like ShilohH7887, and will makeH5414[H8799] this cityH5892 a curseH7045 to all the nationsH1471 of the earthH776. [6]Y schal yyue this hous as Silo, and Y schal yyue this citee in to cursyng to alle folkis of erthe.
[7]So the priestsH3548 and the prophetsH5030 and all the peopleH5971 heardH8085[H8799] JeremiahH3414 speakingH1696[H8764] these wordsH1697 in the houseH1004 of the LORDH3068. [7]And the prestis, and profetis, and al the puple herden Jeremye spekynge these wordis in the hous of the Lord.
[8]Now it came to pass, when JeremiahH3414 had made an endH3615[H8763] of speakingH1696[H8763] all that the LORDH3068 had commandedH6680[H8765] him to speakH1696[H8763] unto all the peopleH5971, that the priestsH3548 and the prophetsH5030 and all the peopleH5971 tookH8610[H8799] him, sayingH559[H8800], Thou shalt surelyH4191[H8800] dieH4191.[H8799] [8]And whanne Jeremye hadde fillid spekynge alle thingis, whiche the Lord hadde comaundid to hym, that he schulde speke to al the puple, the prestis, and profetis, and al the puple token hym, and seiden, Die he bi deeth;
[9]Why hast thou prophesiedH5012[H8738] in the nameH8034 of the LORDH3068, sayingH559[H8800], This houseH1004 shall be like ShilohH7887, and this cityH5892 shall be desolateH2717[H8799] without an inhabitantH3427[H8802]? And all the peopleH5971 were gatheredH6950[H8735] against JeremiahH3414 in the houseH1004 of the LORDH3068. [9]whi profesiede he in the name of the Lord, and seide, This hous schal be as Silo, and this citee schal be desolat, for no dwellere is? And al the puple was gaderid togidere ayens Jeremye, in the hous of the Lord.
[10]When the princesH8269 of JudahH3063 heardH8085[H8799] these thingsH1697, then they came upH5927[H8799] from the king'sH4428 houseH1004 unto the houseH1004 of the LORDH3068, and sat downH3427[H8799] in the entryH6607 of the newH2319 gateH8179 of the LORD'S houseH3068. [10]And the princes of Juda herden alle these wordis; and thei stieden fro the kyngis hous in to the hous of the Lord, and saten in the entryng of the newe yate of the hous of the Lord.
[11]Then spakeH559[H8799] the priestsH3548 and the prophetsH5030 unto the princesH8269 and to all the peopleH5971, sayingH559[H8800], This manH376 is worthyH4941 to dieH4194; for he hath prophesiedH5012[H8738] against this cityH5892, as ye have heardH8085[H8804] with your earsH241. [11]And the prestis and profetis spaken to the princes, and to al the puple, and seiden, Doom of deth is to this man, for he profesiede ayens this citee, as ye herden with youre eeris.
[12]Then spakeH559[H8799] JeremiahH3414 unto all the princesH8269 and to all the peopleH5971, sayingH559[H8800], The LORDH3068 sentH7971[H8804] me to prophesyH5012[H8736] against this houseH1004 and against this cityH5892 all the wordsH1697 that ye have heardH8085.[H8804] [12]And Jeremye seide to alle the princes, and to al the puple, `and seide, The Lord sente me, that Y schulde prophesie to this hous, and to this citee, alle the wordis whiche ye herden.
[13]Therefore now amendH3190[H8685] your waysH1870 and your doingsH4611, and obeyH8085[H8798] the voiceH6963 of the LORDH3068 your GodH430; and the LORDH3068 will repentH5162[H8735] him of the evilH7451 that he hath pronouncedH1696 against youH8765. [13]Now therfor make ye good youre weies, and youre studies, and here ye the vois of youre Lord God; and it schal repente the Lord of the yuel which he spak ayens you.
[14]As for me, behold, I am in your handH3027: doH6213[H8798] with me as seemethH5869 goodH2896 and meet unto youH3477. [14]Lo! forsothe Y am in youre hondis; do ye to me, as it is good and riytful bifore youre iyen.
[15]But knowH3045[H8799] ye for certainH3045[H8800], that if ye put me to deathH4191[H8688], ye shall surely bringH5414[H8802] innocentH5355 bloodH1818 upon yourselves, and upon this cityH5892, and upon the inhabitantsH3427[H8802] thereof: for of a truthH571 the LORDH3068 hath sentH7971[H8804] me unto you to speakH1696[H8763] all these wordsH1697 in your earsH241. [15]Netheles wite ye, and knowe, that if ye sleen me, ye schulen bitraie innocent blood ayens you silf, and ayens this citee, and the dwelleris therof; for in trewthe the Lord sente me to you, that Y schulde speke in youre eeris alle these wordis.
[16]Then saidH559[H8799] the princesH8269 and all the peopleH5971 unto the priestsH3548 and to the prophetsH5030; This manH376 is not worthyH4941 to dieH4194: for he hath spokenH1696[H8765] to us in the nameH8034 of the LORDH3068 our GodH430. [16]And the princes and al the puple seiden to the preestis and profetis, Doom of deth is not to this man; for he spak to vs in the name of oure Lord God.
[17]Then rose upH6965[H8799] certainH582 of the eldersH2205 of the landH776, and spakeH559[H8799] to all the assemblyH6951 of the peopleH5971, sayingH559,[H8800] [17]Therfor men of the eldere men of the lond rysiden vp, and seiden to al the cumpanye of the puple,
[18]MicahH4320 the MorasthiteH4183 prophesiedH5012[H8737] in the daysH3117 of HezekiahH2396 kingH4428 of JudahH3063, and spakeH559[H8799] to all the peopleH5971 of JudahH3063, sayingH559[H8800], Thus saithH559[H8804] the LORDH3068 of hostsH6635; ZionH6726 shall be plowedH2790[H8735] like a fieldH7704, and JerusalemH3389 shall become heapsH5856, and the mountainH2022 of the houseH1004 as the high placesH1116 of a forestH3293. [18]and spaken, Mychee of Morasten was a profete in the daies of Ezechie, king of Juda; and he seide to al the puple of Juda, and seide, The Lord of oostis seith these thingis, Sion schal be erid as a feeld, and Jerusalem schal be in to an heep of stoonys, and the hil of the hous of the Lord schal be in to hiy thingis of woodis.
[19]Did HezekiahH2396 kingH4428 of JudahH3063 and all JudahH3063 put him at allH4191[H8687] to deathH4191[H8689]? did he not fearH3373 the LORDH3068, and besoughtH2470[H8762] the LORDH3068[H6440], and the LORDH3068 repentedH5162[H8735] him of the evilH7451 which he had pronouncedH1696[H8765] against them? ThusH587 might we procureH6213[H8802] greatH1419 evilH7451 against our soulsH5315. [19]Whether Ezechie, kyng of Juda, and al Juda condempnede hym bi deth? Whether thei dredden not the Lord, and bisouyten the face of the Lord? and it repentide the Lord of the yuel which he spak ayens hem. Therfor do we not greet yuel ayens oure soulis.
[20]And there was also a manH376 that prophesiedH5012[H8693] in the nameH8034 of the LORDH3068, UrijahH223 the sonH1121 of ShemaiahH8098 of KirjathjearimH7157, who prophesiedH5012[H8735] against this cityH5892 and against this landH776 according to all the wordsH1697 of JeremiahH3414: [20]Also Vrye, the sone of Semey, of Cariathiarym, was a man profesiynge in the name of the Lord; and he profesiede ayens this citee, and ayens this lond, bi alle the wordis of Jeremye.
[21]And when JehoiakimH3079 the kingH4428, with all his mighty menH1368, and all the princesH8269, heardH8085[H8799] his wordsH1697, the kingH4428 soughtH1245[H8762] to put him to deathH4191[H8687]: but when UrijahH223 heardH8085[H8799] it, he was afraidH3372[H8799], and fledH1272[H8799], and wentH935[H8799] into EgyptH4714; [21]And kyng Joachym, and alle the myyti men, and princes of hem, herden these wordis; and the kyng souyte to sle hym; and Vrye herde, and dredde, and he fledde, and entride in to Egipt.
[22]And JehoiakimH3079 the kingH4428 sentH7971[H8799] menH582 into EgyptH4714, namely, ElnathanH494 the sonH1121 of AchborH5907, and certain menH582 with him into EgyptH4714. [22]And kyng Joachym sente men in to Egipt, Elnathan, the sone of Achobor, and men with hym, in to Egipt;
[23]And they fetched forthH3318[H8686] UrijahH223 out of EgyptH4714, and broughtH935[H8686] him unto JehoiakimH3079 the kingH4428; who slewH5221[H8686] him with the swordH2719, and castH7993[H8686] his dead bodyH5038 into the gravesH6913 of the commonH1121 peopleH5971. [23]and thei ledden Vrye out of Egipt, and brouyten hym to kyng Joachym; and the kyng killide hym bi swerd, and castide forth his careyn in the sepulcris of the comyn puple vnnoble.
[24]Nevertheless the handH3027 of AhikamH296 the sonH1121 of ShaphanH8227 was with JeremiahH3414, that they should not giveH5414[H8800] him into the handH3027 of the peopleH5971 to put him to deathH4191.[H8687] [24]Therfor the hond of Aicham, sone of Saphan, was with Jeremye, that he was not bitakun in to the hondis of the puple, and that it killide not hym.
