| [1]The word which came unto Jeremiah from 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇, when Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, and all his army, and all the kingdoms of the land of his dominion, and all the peoples, fought against Jerusalem, and against all the cities thereof, saying: |

| [2]Thus saith 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇, the God of Israel: Go, and speak to Zedekiah king of Judah, and tell him: Thus saith 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇: Behold, I will give this city into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall burn it with fire; |
[2]Thus saithH559[H8804] the LORDH3068, the GodH430 of IsraelH3478; GoH1980[H8800] and speakH559[H8804] to ZedekiahH6667 kingH4428 of JudahH3063, and tellH559[H8804] him, Thus saithH559[H8804] the LORDH3068; Behold, I will giveH5414[H8802] this cityH5892 into the handH3027 of the kingH4428 of BabylonH894, and he shall burnH8313[H8804] it with fireH784: |
| [3]And thou shalt not escape out of his hand, but shalt surely be taken, and delivered into his hand; and thine eyes shall behold the eyes of the king of Babylon, and he shall speak with thee mouth to mouth, and thou shalt go to Babylon. |

| [4]Yet hear the word of 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇, O Zedekiah king of Judah: Thus saith 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇 concerning thee: Thou shalt not die by the sword; |
[4]Yet hearH8085[H8798] the wordH1697 of the LORDH3068, O ZedekiahH6667 kingH4428 of JudahH3063; Thus saithH559[H8804] the LORDH3068 of thee, Thou shalt not dieH4191[H8799] by the swordH2719: |
| [5]Thou shalt die in peace; and with the burnings of thy fathers, the former kings that were before thee, so shall they make a burning for thee; and they shall lament thee: 'Ah lord!' for I have spoken the word, saith 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇. |
[5]But thou shalt dieH4191[H8799] in peaceH7965: and with the burningsH4955 of thy fathersH1, the formerH7223 kingsH4428 which were beforeH6440 thee, so shall they burnH8313[H8799] odours for thee; and they will lamentH5594[H8799] thee, saying, AhH1945 lordH113! for I have pronouncedH1696[H8765] the wordH1697, saithH5002[H8803] the LORDH3068. |
| [6]Then Jeremiah the prophet spoke all these words unto Zedekiah king of Judah in Jerusalem, |

| [7]When the king of Babylon's army fought against Jerusalem, and against all the cities of Judah that were left, against Lachish and against Azekah; for these alon remained of the cities of Judah as fortified cities. |
[7]When the kingH4428 of Babylon'sH894 armyH2428 foughtH3898[H8737] against JerusalemH3389, and against all the citiesH5892 of JudahH3063 that were leftH3498[H8737], against LachishH3923, and against AzekahH5825: for these defencedH4013 citiesH5892 remainedH7604[H8738] of the citiesH5892 of JudahH3063. |
| [8]The word that came unto Jeremiah from 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇, after that the king Zedekiah had made a covenant with all the people that were at Jerusalem, to proclaim liberty unto them; |
[8]This is the wordH1697 that came unto JeremiahH3414 from the LORDH3068, afterH310 that the kingH4428 ZedekiahH6667 had madeH3772[H8800] a covenantH1285 with all the peopleH5971 which were at JerusalemH3389, to proclaimH7121[H8800] liberty unto themH1865; |
| [9]That every man should let his manservant, and every man his maidservant, being a Hebrew man or a Hebrew woman, go free; that none should make bondmen of them, even of a Jew his brother; |
[9]That every manH376 should let his manservantH5650, and every manH376 his maidservantH8198, being an HebrewH5680 or an HebrewessH5680, goH7971[H8763] freeH2670; that none should serveH5647[H8800] himself of them, to wit, of a JewH3064 his brotherH251. |
| [10]And all the princes and all the people hearkened, that had entered into the covenant to let every one his man-servant, and every one his maid-servant, go free, and not to make bondmen of them any more; they hearkened, and let them go; |

| [11]But afterwards they turned, and caused the servants and the handmaids, whom they had let go free, to return, and brought them into subjection for servants and for handmaids; |

| [12]Therefore the word of 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇 came to Jeremiah from 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇, saying: |

| [13]Thus saith 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇, the God of Israel: I made a covenant with your fathers in the day that I brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage, saying: |

| [14]'At the end of seven years ye shall let go every man his brother that is a Hebrew, that hath been sold unto thee, and hath served thee six years, thou shalt let him go free from thee'; but your fathers hearkened not unto Me, neither inclined their ear. |

| [15]And ye were now turned, and had done that which is right in Mine eyes, in proclaiming liberty every man to his neighbour; and ye had made a covenant before Me in the house whereon My name is called; |
[15]And ye were nowH3117 turnedH7725[H8799], and had doneH6213[H8799] rightH3477 in my sightH5869, in proclaimingH7121[H8800] libertyH1865 every manH376 to his neighbourH7453; and ye had madeH3772[H8799] a covenantH1285 beforeH6440 me in the houseH1004 which is calledH7121[H8738] by my nameH8034: |
| [16]But ye turned and profaned My name, and caused every man his servant, and every man his handmaid, whom ye had let go free at their pleasure, to return; and ye brought them into subjection, to be unto you for servants and for handmaids. |
[16]But ye turnedH7725[H8799] and pollutedH2490[H8762] my nameH8034, and caused every manH376 his servantH5650, and every manH376 his handmaidH8198, whom ye had setH7971[H8765] at libertyH2670 at their pleasureH5315, to returnH7725[H8686], and brought them into subjectionH3533[H8799], to be unto you for servantsH5650 and for handmaidsH8198. |
| [17]Therefore thus saith 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇: Ye have not hearkened unto Me, to proclaim liberty, every man to his brother, and every man to his neighbour; behold, I proclaim for you a liberty, saith 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇, unto the sword, unto the pestilence, and unto the famine; and I will make you a horror unto all the kingdoms of the earth. |
[17]Therefore thus saithH559[H8804] the LORDH3068; Ye have not hearkenedH8085[H8804] unto me, in proclaimingH7121[H8800] libertyH1865, every oneH376 to his brotherH251, and every manH376 to his neighbourH7453: behold, I proclaimH7121[H8802] a libertyH1865 for you, saithH5002[H8803] the LORDH3068, to the swordH2719, to the pestilenceH1698, and to the famineH7458; and I will makeH5414[H8804] you to be removedH2189[H8675][H2113] into all the kingdomsH4467 of the earthH776. |
| [18]And I will give the men that have transgressed My covenant, that have not performed the words of the covenant which they made before Me, when they cut the calf in twain and passed between the parts thereof; |
[18]And I will giveH5414[H8804] the menH582 that have transgressedH5674[H8802] my covenantH1285, which have not performedH6965[H8689] the wordsH1697 of the covenantH1285 which they had madeH3772[H8804] beforeH6440 me, when they cutH3772[H8804] the calfH5695 in twainH8147, and passedH5674[H8799] between the parts thereofH1335, |
| [19]The princes of Judah, and the princes of Jerusalem, the officers, and the priests, and all the people of the land, that passed between the parts of the calf; |
[19]The princesH8269 of JudahH3063, and the princesH8269 of JerusalemH3389, the eunuchsH5631, and the priestsH3548, and all the peopleH5971 of the landH776, which passedH5674[H8802] between the partsH1335 of the calfH5695; |
| [20]I will even give them into the hand of their enemies, and into the hand of them that seek their life; and their dead bodies shall be for food unto the fowls of the heaven, and to the beasts of the earth. |
[20]I will even giveH5414[H8804] them into the handH3027 of their enemiesH341[H8802], and into the handH3027 of them that seekH1245[H8764] their lifeH5315: and their dead bodiesH5038 shall be for meatH3978 unto the fowlsH5775 of the heavenH8064, and to the beastsH929 of the earthH776. |
| [21]And Zedekiah king of Judah and his princes will I give into the hand of their enemies, and into the hand of them that seek their life, and into the hand of the king of Babylon's army, that are gone up from you. |
[21]And ZedekiahH6667 kingH4428 of JudahH3063 and his princesH8269 will I giveH5414[H8799] into the handH3027 of their enemiesH341[H8802], and into the handH3027 of them that seekH1245[H8764] their lifeH5315, and into the handH3027 of the kingH4428 of Babylon'sH894 armyH2428, which are gone upH5927 from youH8802. |
| [22]Behold, I will command, saith 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇, and cause them to return to this city; and they shall fight against it, and take it, and burn it with fire; and I will make the cities of Judah a desolation, without inhabitant. |
