[1]The word that was maad of the Lord to Jeremye, in the daies of Joachym, sone of Josie, |
| [2]GoH1980[H8800] unto the houseH1004 of the RechabitesH7397, and speakH1696[H8765] unto them, and bringH935[H8689] them into the houseH1004 of the LORDH3068, into oneH259 of the chambersH3957, and give them wineH3196 to drinkH8248.[H8689] |
[2]kyng of Juda, and seide, Go thou to the hous of Recabitis, and speke thou to hem; and thou schalt brynge hem in to the hous of the Lord, in to o chaumbre of tresouris, and thou schalt yyue to hem to drynke wyn. |
| [3]Then I tookH3947[H8799] JaazaniahH2970 the sonH1121 of JeremiahH3414, the sonH1121 of HabaziniahH2262, and his brethrenH251, and all his sonsH1121, and the whole houseH1004 of the RechabitesH7397; |
[3]And Y took Jeconye, the sone of Jeremye, sone of Absanye, and hise britheren, and alle the sones of hym, and al the hous of Recabitis. |
| [4]And I broughtH935[H8686] them into the houseH1004 of the LORDH3068, into the chamberH3957 of the sonsH1121 of HananH2605, the sonH1121 of IgdaliahH3012, a manH376 of GodH430, which was byH681 the chamberH3957 of the princesH8269, which was aboveH4605 the chamberH3957 of MaaseiahH4641 the sonH1121 of ShallumH7967, the keeperH8104[H8802] of the doorH5592: |
[4]And Y ledde hem in to the hous of the Lord, to the treserie of the sones of Eman, sone of Godolie, the man of God; which treserie was bisidis the treserie of princes, aboue the tresour of Maasie, sone of Sellum, that was kepere of the vestiarie. |
| [5]And I setH5414[H8799] beforeH6440 the sonsH1121 of the houseH1004 of the RechabitesH7397 potsH1375 fullH4392 of wineH3196, and cupsH3563, and I saidH559[H8799] unto them, DrinkH8354[H8798] ye wineH3196. |
[5]And Y settide bifore the sones of the hous of Recabitis pecis, and grete cowpis ful of wyn; and Y seide to hem, Drinke ye wyn. |
| [6]But they saidH559[H8799], We will drinkH8354[H8799] no wineH3196: for JonadabH3122 the sonH1121 of RechabH7394 our fatherH1 commandedH6680[H8765] us, sayingH559[H8800], Ye shall drinkH8354[H8799] no wineH3196, neither ye, nor your sonsH1121 forH5704 everH5769: |
[6]And thei answeriden, We schulen not drinke wyn; for whi Jonadab, oure fadir, the sone of Recab, comaundide to vs, and seide, Ye schulen not drinke wyn, ye and youre sones, `til in to withouten ende; |
| [7]Neither shall ye buildH1129[H8799] houseH1004, nor sowH2232[H8799] seedH2233, nor plantH5193[H8799] vineyardH3754, nor have any: but all your daysH3117 ye shall dwellH3427[H8799] in tentsH168; that ye may liveH2421[H8799] manyH7227 daysH3117 inH6440 the landH127 where ye be strangersH1481.[H8802] |
[7]and ye schulen not bilde an hous, and ye schulen not sowe seed, and ye schulen not plaunte vynes, nether schulen haue, but ye schulen dwelle in tabernaclis in alle youre daies, that ye lyue many daies on the face of erthe, in which ye goen in pilgrymage. |
| [8]Thus have we obeyedH8085[H8799] the voiceH6963 of JonadabH3082 the sonH1121 of RechabH7394 our fatherH1 in all that he hath chargedH6680[H8765] us, to drinkH8354[H8800] no wineH3196 all our daysH3117, we, our wivesH802, our sonsH1121, nor our daughtersH1323; |
[8]Therfor we obeieden to the vois of Jonadab, oure fadir, the sone of Recab, in alle thingis whiche he comaundide to vs; so that we drunken not wyn in alle oure dayes, we, and oure wymmen, oure sones, and douytris; |
| [9]Nor to buildH1129[H8800] housesH1004 for us to dwell inH3427[H8800]: neither have we vineyardH3754, nor fieldH7704, nor seedH2233: |
[9]and we bildiden not housis to dwelle, and we hadden not a vyner, and a feeld, and seed; |
| [10]But we have dwelt inH3427[H8799] tentsH168, and have obeyedH8085[H8799], and doneH6213[H8799] according to all that JonadabH3122 our fatherH1 commandedH6680 usH8765. |
[10]but we dwelliden in tabernaclis, and weren obeiynge, and diden bi alle thingis, whiche Jonadab, oure fadir, comaundide to vs. |
| [11]But it came to pass, when NebuchadrezzarH5019 kingH4428 of BabylonH894 came upH5927[H8800] into the landH776, that we saidH559[H8799], ComeH935[H8798], and let us goH935[H8799] to JerusalemH3389 for fearH6440 of the armyH2428 of the ChaldeansH3778, and for fearH6440 of the armyH2428 of the SyriansH758: so we dwellH3427[H8799] at JerusalemH3389. |
[11]But whanne Nabugodonosor, kyng of Babiloyne, hadde stied to this lond, we seiden, Come ye, and entre we in to Jerusalem, fro the face of the oost of Caldeis, and fro the face of the oost of Sirie; and we dwelliden in Jerusalem. |
| [12]Then came the wordH1697 of the LORDH3068 unto JeremiahH3414, sayingH559,[H8800] |
[12]And the word of the Lord was maad to Jeremye, |
| [13]Thus saithH559[H8804] the LORDH3068 of hostsH6635, the GodH430 of IsraelH3478; GoH1980[H8800] and tellH559[H8804] the menH376 of JudahH3063 and the inhabitantsH3427[H8802] of JerusalemH3389, Will ye not receiveH3947[H8799] instructionH4148 to hearkenH8085[H8800] to my wordsH1697? saithH5002[H8803] the LORDH3068. |
[13]and seide, The Lord of oostis, God of Israel, seith these thingis, Go thou, and seie to the men of Juda, and to the dwelleris of Jerusalem, Whether ye schulen not take techyng, that ye obeie to my wordis, seith the Lord? |
| [14]The wordsH1697 of JonadabH3082 the sonH1121 of RechabH7394, that he commandedH6680[H8765] his sonsH1121 not to drinkH8354[H8800] wineH3196, are performedH6965[H8717]; for unto this dayH3117 they drinkH8354[H8804] none, but obeyH8085[H8804] their father'sH1 commandmentH4687: notwithstanding I have spokenH1696[H8765] unto you, rising earlyH7925[H8687] and speakingH1696[H8763]; but ye hearkenedH8085 not unto meH8804. |
[14]The wordis of Jonadab, sone of Rechab, hadden the maistrie, whiche he comaundide to hise sones, that thei schulden not drynke wyn; and thei drynken not, `til to this dai; for thei obeieden to the comaundement of her fadir; but Y spak to you, and Y roos ful eerli, and spake, and ye obeieden not to me. |
| [15]I have sentH7971[H8799] also unto you all my servantsH5650 the prophetsH5030, rising up earlyH7925[H8687] and sendingH7971[H8800] them, sayingH559[H8800], ReturnH7725[H8798] ye now every manH376 from his evilH7451 wayH1870, and amendH3190[H8685] your doingsH4611, and goH3212[H8799] not afterH310 otherH312 godsH430 to serveH5647[H8800] them, and ye shall dwell inH3427[H8798] the landH127 which I have givenH5414[H8804] to you and to your fathersH1: but ye have not inclinedH5186[H8689] your earH241, nor hearkenedH8085 unto meH8804. |
[15]And Y sente to you alle my seruauntis profetis, and Y roos ful eerli, and Y sente, and seide, Be ye conuertid, ech man fro his worste weye, and make ye good youre studies, and nyle ye sue alien goddis, nether worschipe ye hem, and ye schulen dwelle in the lond, which Y yaf to you, and to youre fadris; and ye bowiden not youre eere, nether herden me. |
| [16]Because the sonsH1121 of JonadabH3082 the sonH1121 of RechabH7394 have performedH6965[H8689] the commandmentH4687 of their fatherH1, which he commandedH6680[H8765] them; but this peopleH5971 hath not hearkenedH8085 unto meH8804: |
[16]Therfor the sones of Jonadab, sone of Recab, maden stidfast the comaundement of her fadir, which he comaundide to hem; but this puple obeiede not to me. |
| [17]Therefore thus saithH559[H8804] the LORDH3068 GodH430 of hostsH6635, the GodH430 of IsraelH3478; Behold, I will bringH935[H8688] upon JudahH3063 and upon all the inhabitantsH3427[H8802] of JerusalemH3389 all the evilH7451 that I have pronouncedH1696[H8765] against them: because I have spokenH1696[H8765] unto them, but they have not heardH8085[H8804]; and I have calledH7121[H8799] unto them, but they have not answeredH6030.[H8804] |
[17]Therfor the Lord of oostis, God of Israel, seith these thingis, Lo! Y schal bringe on Juda, and on alle the dwelleris of Jerusalem, al the turment which Y spak ayens hem; for Y spak to hem, and thei herden not; Y clepide hem, and thei answeriden not to me. |
| [18]And JeremiahH3414 saidH559[H8804] unto the houseH1004 of the RechabitesH7397, Thus saithH559[H8804] the LORDH3068 of hostsH6635, the GodH430 of IsraelH3478; Because ye have obeyedH8085[H8804] the commandmentH4687 of JonadabH3082 your fatherH1, and keptH8104[H8799] all his preceptsH4687, and doneH6213[H8799] according unto all that he hath commandedH6680 youH8765: |
[18]Forsothe Jeremye seide to the hous of Recabitis, The Lord of oostis, God of Israel, seith these thingis, For that that ye obeieden to the comaundement of Jonadab, youre fadir, and kepten alle hise comaundementis, and diden alle thingis, whiche he comaundide to you; |
| [19]Therefore thus saithH559[H8804] the LORDH3068 of hostsH6635, the GodH430 of IsraelH3478; JonadabH3122 the sonH1121 of RechabH7394 shall not wantH3772[H8735] a manH376 to standH5975[H8802] beforeH6440 me for everH3117. |
[19]therfor the Lord of oostis, God of Israel, seith these thingis, A man of the generacioun of Jonadab, sone of Recab, schal not faile stondynge in my siyt in alle daies. |
