| [1]ܘܲܥܢ̣ܵܐ ܡܵܪܝܵܐ ܘܐܸܡ̣ܲܪ ܠܐܝܼܘܿܒ̣ ܡ̣ܢ ܥܲܠܥܵܠܵܐ. |
[1]Moreover 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇 answered Job, and said: |
| [2]ܐܲܣܘܿܪܢܹܐ ܐܲܝܟ݂ ܓܲܢ̄ܒܵܪܵܐ ܚܲܨܲܝ̈ܟ. ܐܹܫܹܐܠܵܟ݂: ܐܵܘܕܲܥܲܝܢܝ. |
[2]Shall he that reproveth contend with the Almighty? He that argueth with God, let him answer it. |
| [3]ܐܸܢܗ̤ܘ ܕܲܡܒܲܛܸܠ ܐܲܢ̄ܬ̇ ܠܝܼ. ܘܲܡܚܲܝܸܒ̣ ܐܲܢ̄ܬ̇ ܠܝܼ ܕܬܸܙܟܸܐ. |
[3]Then Job answered 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇, and said: |
| [4]ܐܝܼܬ̣ ܠܵܟ݂ ܕܪܵܥܵܐ ܐܲܝܟ݂ ܕܐܲܠܵܗܵܐ. ܘܪܵܥܹ̇ܡ ܐܲܢ̄ܬ̇ ܒܩܵܠܵܐ ܐܲܟ݂ܘܵܬܹܗ. |
[4]Behold, I am of small account; what shall I answer Thee? I lay my hand upon my mouth. |
| [5]ܠܒܲܫ ܓܲܐܝܘܼܬ̣ܵܐ ܘܓܲܢ̄ܒܵܪܘܼܬ̣ܵܐ. ܘܐܸܬ̣ܥܲܛܲܦ ܙܝܼܘܵܐ ܘܗܸܕ݂ܪܵܐ. |
[5]Once have I spoken, but I will not answer again; yea, twice, but I will proceed no further. |
| [6]ܘܐܲܫܘܿܕ݂ ܚܸܡܬ̣ܵܐ ܕܪܘܼܓ̣ܙܵܟ݂ ܘܲܚܙܝܼ ܟܠ ܕܪܵܡ: ܣܚܘܿܦܲܝܗܝ. |
[6]Then 𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇 answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said: |
| [7]ܘܐܲܪܡܵܐ ܠܚܲܛܵܝܹ̈ܐ ܒܕ݂ܘܼܟܲܬ̣ܗܘܿܢ. |
[7]Gird up thy loins now like a man; I will demand of thee, and declare thou unto Me. |
| [8]ܘܐܲܟ݂ܚ̄ܕ݂ܵܐ ܒܥܲܦܪܵܐ ܛܡܘܿܪ ܐܸܢܘܿܢ. ܘܐܲܦܲܝ̈ܗܘܿܢ ܚܒ̣ܘܿܫ ܒܕܲܚܝܼܚܵܐ. |
[8]Wilt thou even make void My judgment? Wilt thou condemn Me, that thou mayest be justified? |
| [9]ܘܐܵܦ ܐܸܢܵܐ ܐܹܫܲܒ̇ܚܵܟ݂: ܡܵܐ ܕܲܦܪܲܩܬ̣ܵܟ݂ ܝܲܡܝܼܢܵܟ݂. |
[9]Or hast thou an arm like God? And canst thou thunder with a voice like Him? |
| [10]ܗܵܐ ܒܸܗܡܘܿܬ̣ ܕܥܲܒ̣ܕܹ̇ܬ̣ ܥܲܡܵܟ݂: ܥܡܝܼܪܵܐ ܐܲܝܟ݂ ܬܵܘܪܵܐ ܐܵܟܹ̇ܠ. |
[10]Deck thyself now with majesty and excellency, and array thyself with glory and beauty. |
| [11]ܘܥܘܼܫܢܹܗ ܒܣܸܬ̇ܪܹܗ. |
[11]Cast abroad the rage of thy wrath; and look upon every one that is proud, and abase him. |
| [12]ܙܵܩܹ̇ܦ ܕܘܼܢܒܹ̇ܗ ܐܲܝܟ݂ ܐܲܪܙܵܐ. ܘܲܙܩܝܼܦܝܼܢ ܓܝܵـ̈ـܕܹܐ ܕܦܘܼܚܕܵܘ̈ܗܝ. |
[12]Look on every one that is proud, and bring him low; and tread down the wicked in their place. |
| [13]ܓܲܪ̈ܡܵܘܗܝ ܥܲܫܝܼܢܝܼܢ ܐܲܝܟ݂ ܢܚܵܫܵܐ ܘܐܲܝܟ݂ ܦܲܪܙܠܵܐ. |
[13]Hide them in the dust together; bind their faces in the hidden place. |
| [14]ܗ̤ܘܝܘܼ ܪܹܫ ܟܠܗܹܝܢ ܒܸܪ̈ܝܵܬܹܗ ܕܐܲܠܵܗܵܐ. ܕܥܲܒ̣ܕܹ̇ܗ ܕܢܸܥܒܸ̇ܕ݂ ܩܪܵܒ̣ܵܐ. |
[14]Then will I also confess unto thee that thine own right hand can save thee. |
| [15]ܘܣܘܿܓ̣ܵܐܐ ܕܛܘܼܪܹ̈ܐ ܫܩܝܼܠܝܼܢ ܠܹܗ ܘܟ݂ܠܵܗ̇ ܚܲܝ̄ܘܬ̣ܵܐ ܕܕܲܒ̣ܪܵܐ: ܬܚܹܝܬ̣ ܛܸܠܵܠܹܗ ܕܵܡ̇ܟܵܐ. |
[15]Behold now behemoth, which I made with thee; he eateth grass as an ox. |
| [16]ܘܲܒ̣ܣܸܬܵܪܵܐ ܕܩܲܢܝܵܐ ܪܵܒܲܥ. |
[16]Lo now, his strength is in his loins, and his force is in the stays of his body. |
| [17]ܟܪܝܼܟ݂ܝܼܢ ܠܹܗ ܛܸܠܵܠܹ̈ܐ. ܘܲܟ݂ܪܝܼܟ݂ܝܼܢ ܠܹܗ ܥܘܼܪ̈ܒܹܐ ܕܢܲܚܠܵܐ. |
[17]He straineth his tail like a cedar; the sinews of his thighs are knit together. |
| [18]ܐܸܢ ܫܵܘܲܪ ܢܲܗܪܵܐ: ܠܵܐ ܙܵܐܲܥ ܘܲܬ̣ܟ݂ܝܼܠ ܕܢܵܣܹ̇ܟ݂ ܠܹܗ ܝܘܿܪܕ̇ܢܵܢ ܠܦܘܼܡܹܗ. |
[18]His bones are as pipes of brass; his gristles are like bars of iron. |
| [19]ܒܲܥܢܵܢܵܘ̈ܗܝ ܢܸܣܒ̣ܝܼܘܗܝ ܒܲܡܨܝܼܕ̇ܬܵܐ ܢܸܬ̇ܬ̇ܚܸܕ݂. |
[19]He is the beginning of the ways of God; He only that made him can make His sword to approach unto him. |
| [20]ܬܹܐܚܕ̇ܝܼܘܗܝ ܠܬܲܢܝܼܢܵܐ ܒܲܡܨܝܼܕ̇ܬܵܐ. ܒܚܲܒ̣ܠܵܐ ܬܹܐܚܕ̇ܝܼܘܗܝ ܒܠܸܫܵܢܹܗ. |
[20]Surely the mountains bring him forth food, and all the beasts of the field play there. |
| [21]ܪܵܡܹ̇ܐ ܐܲܢ̄ܬ̇ ܦܓ̣ܘܼܕ̇ܬܵܐ ܒܦܘܼܡܹܗ ܘܢܵܩܹ̇ܒ̣ ܐܲܢ̄ܬ̇ ܦܲܟܹ̇ܗ ܒܫܘܼܪܹܗ. |
[21]He lieth under the lotus-trees, in the covert of the reed, and fens. |
| [22]ܘܐܸܢ ܡܲܣܓܹ̇ܐ ܒܵܥܹ̇ܐ ܡܸܢܵܟ݂ ܘܐܵܡܲܪ ܠܵܟ݂ ܕܪ̈ܲܟ̇ܝܼܟ݂ܵܢ. |
[22]The lotus-trees cover him with their shadow; the willows of the brook compass him about. |
| [23]ܡܲܫܲܪ ܥܲܡܵܟ݂ ܩܝܵܡܵܐ. ܐܵܘ ܡܵܢܹ̇ܐ ܐܲܢ̄ܬ̇ ܠܹܗ ܥܲܒ̣ܕܵܐ ܠܥܵܠܲܡ. |
[23]Behold, if a river overflow, he trembleth not; he is confident, though the Jordan rush forth to his mouth. |
| [24]ܓܵܝ̇ܝܹܟ ܐܲܢ̄ܬ̇ ܥܠܵܘܗܝ ܐܲܝܟ݂ ܨܸܦܪܵܐ. ܘܢܵܛܲܪ ܐܲܢ̄ܬ̇ ܠܹܗ ܠܝܵܘ̈ܡܲܝ ܥܠܲܝܡܘܼܬ̣ܵܟ݂. |
[24]Shall any take him by his eyes, or pierce through his nose with a snare? |
| [25]ܫܵܘܬܵܦܹ̈ܐ ܢܸܬ̣ܟܲܢܫܘܼܢ ܥܠܵܘܗܝ. ܘܲܢܦܲܠܓ̣ܘܼܢܹܗ ܒܹܝܬ̣ ܣܲܓ̇ܝܼ̈ܐܹܐ. |
[25]Canst thou draw out leviathan with a fish-hook? or press down his tongue with a cord? |
| [26]ܡܵܠܹ̈ܐ ܐܲܢ̄ܬ̇ ܡܸܫܟܹ̇ܗ ܒܸܣܪܵܐ: ܘܪܹܫܹܗ ܒܛܸܠܵܠܵܐ ܕܢܘܼܪܵܐ. |
[26]Canst thou put a ring into his nose? or bore his jaw through with a hook? |
| [27]ܣܝܼܡ ܥܠܵܘܗܝ ܐܝܼܕ݂ܵܟ݂ ܘܕ݂ܘܼܟ݂ܪܵܢܵܐ ܕܲܩܪܵܒ̣ܵܐ ܠܵܐ ܬܵܘܣܸܦ. |
[27]Will he make many supplications unto thee? or will he speak soft words unto thee? |
| [28]ܗܵܐ ܫܲܪܝܵܐ ܪܸܓ̣ܠܵܟ݂. ܘܐܵܦ ܐܲܠܵܗܵܐ ܡܪܵܪܬܹ̇ܗ ܢܸܫܩܘܿܠ. |
[28]Will he make a covenant with thee, that thou shouldest take him for a servant for ever? |
| 29[No verse] |
[29]Wilt thou play with him as with a bird? Or wilt thou bind him for thy maidens? |
| 30[No verse] |
[30]Will the bands of fishermen make a banquet of him? Will they part him among the merchants? |
| 31[No verse] |
[31]Canst thou fill his skin with barbed irons? or his head with fish-spears? |
| 32[No verse] |
[32]Lay thy hand upon him; think upon the battle, thou wilt do so no more. |
