[2]Howe long wilt thou talke of such thinges? howe long shall the wordes of thy mouth be as a mightie wind [2]How long wilt thou talk of these things? And how long shall the words of thy mouth be as a mighty wind?
[3]Doth God paruert the thing that is lawfull? or doth the almightie destroy the thing that is right [3]Doth God pervert judgment? Or doth the Almighty subvert justice?
[4]For seyng that thy sonnes sinned against him, did not he send them into the place of their iniquitie [4]If thy sons have sinned against him, and he hath sent them into the place of their iniquity,
[5]If thou wouldest nowe resorte vnto God be times, and make thy prayer to the almightie [5]Yet if thou wilt early seek unto God, and pray to the Almighty,
[6]If thou wouldest liue a pure and godly life: shoulde he not awake vp vnto thee immediatly, and make the habitation of thy righteousnesse prosperous [6]If thou be pure and upright, then surely he will awake up unto thee, and he will make the habitation of thy righteousness prosperous.
[7]In so much that wherin so euer thou haddest litle afore, thou shouldest haue nowe great aboundaunce [7]And though thy beginning be small, yet thy latter end shall greatly increase.
[8]Enquire I pray thee of the former age, and search diligently among their fathers [8]Inquire therefore, I pray thee, of the former age, and prepare thyself to search of their fathers.
[9](For we are but of yesterday, and consider not that our dayes vpon earth are but a shadowe. [9](For we are but of yesterday, and are ignorant: for our days upon earth are but a shadow)
[10]Shall not they shew thee, and tel thee, yea and gladly confesse the same, and vtter the wordes of their heart [10]Shall not they teach thee and tell thee, and utter the words of their heart?
[11]May a rushe be greene without moystnesse? or may the grasse growe without water [11]Can a rush grow without mire? Or can the grass grow without water?
[12]No, but whilste it is nowe in his greennesse, though it be not cut downe, yet withereth it before any other hearbe [12]Though it were in green and not cut down, yet shall it wither before any other herb.
[13]So are the pathes of al that forget God, and the hypocrites hope shall come to naught [13]So are the paths of all that forget God, and the hypocrite's hope shall perish.
[14]His confidence shalbe destroyed, and his trust shalbe a spiders webbe [14]His confidence also shall be cut off, and his trust shall be as the house of a spider.
[15]He shal leane vpon his house, but it shal not stande: he shall holde him fast by it, yet shall it not endure [15]He shall lean upon his house, but it shall not stand: he shall hold him fast by it, yet shall it not endure.
[16]It is a greene [tree] before the sunne, & shooteth foorth the braunches ouer his garden [16]The tree is green before the sun, and the branches spread over the garden thereof.
[17]The rootes thereof are wrapped about the fountayne, and are folden about the house of stones [17]The roots thereof are wrapped about the fountain, and are folden about the house of stones.
[18]If any plucke it from his place, and it denie, saying, I haue not seene thee [18]If any pluck it from his place, and it deny, saying, I have not seen thee,
[19]Behold it will reioyce by this meanes, if it may growe in another mould [19]Behold, it will rejoice by this means, that it may grow in another mold.
[20]Beholde, God will not cast away a vertuous man, neither wil he helpe the vngodly [20]Behold, God will not cast away an upright man, neither will he take the wicked by the hand,
[21]Thy mouth shall he fill with laughing, and thy lippes with gladnesse [21]Till he have filled thy mouth with laughter, and thy lips with joy.
[22]They also that hate thee shalbe clothed with shame, & the dwelling of the vngodly shall come to naught [22]They that hate thee, shall be clothed with shame, and the dwelling of the wicked shall not remain.
