[1]These things said Ieshu and went forth with His disciples to the crossing of the torrent of Qedrown the place that was a garden where entered He and His disciples |
[1]These things spake Jesus, and went forth with his disciples over the brook Cedron, where there was a garden, into which he and his disciples entered. |
[2]Known had but also Yehudah the traitor place that because many times met had there Ieshu with His disciples |
[2]And Judas also, the betrayer, knew the place; because Jesus often there met with his disciples. |
[3]? therefore Yehudah led a troop also from the presence of chief the priests and Pharisees he led guards and came there with torches and lamps and weapons |
[3]Then Judas received a regiment, and from the presence of the chief priests and Pharisees he had officials; and he came to the place with lanterns and lamps and weapons. |
[4]Ieshu but because knew He all things had come upon him He went out and said to them for whom? seeking are you |
[4]And Jesus, as he knew every thing that was to befall him, went forth and said to them: Whom seek ye? |
[5]They were saying to Him for Ieshu The Nazarene said to them Ieshu I I standing was but also Yehudah the traitor with them |
[5]They say to him: Jesus the Nazarean. Jesus said to them: I am he. And Judas the betrayer was also standing with them. |
[6]And when said to them Ieshu I I they went backward and they fell on the ground |
[6]And when Jesus said to them, I am he, they drew back and fell upon the ground. |
[7]Again asked them Ieshu for whom? seeking are you they but said for Ieshu The Nazarene |
[7]And again Jesus asked them: Whom seek ye? And they said: Jesus the Nazarean. |
[8]Said to them Ieshu I have told to you I I and if Me seeking you are let these be going |
[8]Jesus said to them: I have told you that I am he; and if ye seek me, let these go away: |
[9]So that may be fulfilled the saying that He spoke those whom You have given Me not I have lost of them not even one |
[9]that the speech might be fulfilled, which he uttered: Of them, whom thou hast given me, I have lost not even one. |
[10]Shimeon but Kaypha there was on him a sword and he drew it and struck the servant of the high priest and removed his ear of the right side the name but of the servant was Malka |
[10]And Simon Cephas had upon him a sword; and he drew it, and smote a servant of the high priest, and cut off his right ear. And the servant's name was Malchus. |
[11]And said Ieshu Kaypha put the sword in its sheath the cup that gave Me My Father not? shall I drink it |
[11]And Jesus said to Cephas: Put the sword into its sheath. The cup which my Father hath given me, shall I not drink it? |
[12]Then the troop and captain of a thousand and guards of The Jews seized Himself Ieshu and bound Him |
[12]Then the regiment and the chiliarchs and the officials of the Jews laid hold of Jesus, and bound him; |
[13]And they brought Him to the presence of Hanan first because father in law he was of Qaipa he who was high priest of year that |
[13]and they led him first to the presence of Annas; for he was father-in-law to Caiaphas, who was the high priest of that year. |
[14]It was but Qaipha who counseled The Jews that it is better that one man should die for the sake of the people |
[14]And it was Caiaphas who counselled the Jews, that it was expedient, one man should die for the people. |
[15]Shimeon but Kaypha and one of the disciples other coming were after Him Ieshu to Him but the disciple known had the high priest and he entered with Ieshu to the courtyard |
[15]And Simon Cephas and one other of the disciples went after Jesus. And that other disciple knew the high priest; and he entered with Jesus into the hall. |
[16]Shimeon but standing was outside near the gate and went out that disciple the other who know did him high the priest and spoke |
[16]But Simon stood without at the door; and that other disciple, who knew the high priest, went out and spoke to the doorkeeper and brought in Simon. |
[17]She said but the maiden keeper gate to Shimeon not also you from the disciples are of this man? he said to her no |
[17]And the maid who kept the door, said to Simon: Art not thou also one of this man's disciples? And he said: I am not. |
[18]And standing were the servants and the guards and setting they were a fire to warm themselves because cold it was standing was but also Shimeon with them and warming himself |
[18]And the servants and officials were standing, and had placed a fire to warm themselves |
[19]High the priest but asked Ieshu about His disciples and about His teaching |
[19]And the high priest interrogated Jesus respecting his disciples, and respecting his doctrine. |
[20]And said to him Ieshu I eye in opened have spoken with the people and at all times I have taught in the synagogue and in the temple where all of them The Jews are assembled and a thing in secret not I have spoken |
[20]And Jesus said to him: I have discoursed openly with the people, and have at all times taught in the synagogue and in the temple, where all the Jews assemble; and I have uttered nothing in private. |
[21]Why? ask you Me ask those who heard what I spoke with them Behold they know every thing that I have said |
[21]Why dost thou interrogate me? Ask them who have heard, what I said to them: lo, they know what I have said. |
[22]And when these said one from the guards who standing was struck Him on the cheek Ieshu and said to him thus? give you answer to high the priest |
[22]And as he said these things, one of the officials standing by, smote the cheek of Jesus, and said to him: Givest thou such an answer to the high priest? |
[23]Answered Ieshu and said to him if evil I have spoken testify of the evil and if but correctly why? do you strike Me |
[23]Jesus replied, and said to him: If I have spoken evil bear witness of that evil; but if well, why smitest thou me? |
[24]Hannan but sent Ieshu when bound to the presence of Qaipa high the priest |
[24]Now Annas had sent Jesus bound to Caiaphas the high priest. |
[25]And Simon Kaypha standing was and warming himself and they were saying to him not also are one from His disciples you? and he denied and said not I am |
[25]And Simon Cephas was standing and warming himself; and they said to him: Art not thou also one of his disciples? And he denied, and said: I am not. |
[26]Said to him one from the servants of high the priest near kin of him of whom cut off had Shimeon his ear not? I did see you with Him in the garden |
[26]And one of the servants of the high priest, a kinsman of him whose ear Simon cut off, said to him: Did I not see thee with him in the garden? |
[27]And again denied Shimeon and in it the hour crowed a rooster |
[27]And again Simon denied: and at that moment the cock crew. |
[28]They brought Him but Ieshu from the presence of Qaipha to the Praetorium and it was dawn and they not entered the Praetorium that not they would be defiled until they had eaten the Passover |
[28]And they led Jesus from the presence of Caiaphas unto the Praetorium; and it was morning. But they did not enter the Praetorium, lest they should defile themselves before they had eaten the passover. |
[29]Went out but Pilatus outside to their presence and said to them what? accusation is to you against Man This |
[29]And Pilate went forth to them without, and said to them: What accusation have ye against this man? |
[30]They answered and they were saying to him if not a doer evil he were neither to you delivered we would have Him |
[30]They replied, and said to him: If he were not a malefactor, we should not have delivered him up to thee. |
[31]Said to them Pilatus take Him you and judge Him according to your law were saying to him The Judeans not it is permitted to us to kill a man |
[31]Pilate said to them: Take ye him, and judge him according to your law. The Jews said to him: It is not lawful for us to put a man to death: |
[32]So that may be fulfilled the saying that said Ieshu when He revealed by which death He was going to die |
[32]that the speech of Jesus might be fulfilled, when he made known by what death he was to die. |
[33]Entered but Pilatus the Praetorium and he called for Ieshu and said to Him You are? their king of The Judeans |
[33]And Pilate went into the Praetorium, and called Jesus, and said to him: Art thou the king of the Jews? |
[34]Said to him Ieshu from yourself have you said? this or others have spoken? to you about Me |
[34]Jesus said to him: Sayest thou this of thyself, or have others said [it] to thee of me? |
[35]Said to Him Pilatus not am a Jew I the children of Your nation itself and high priests have delivered You to me what have You done? |
[35]Pilate said to him: Am I a Jew? Thy countrymen and the chief priests have delivered thee to me. What hast thou done? |
[36]Said to him Ieshu My kingdom Mine not is from this world if from world it were this My kingdom have been fighting would My servants that not I would have been delivered up to the Judeans now but My kingdom Mine not is from here |
[36]Jesus said to him: My kingdom is not of this world. If my kingdom were of this world, my servants would have fought, that I might not be delivered up to the Jews: but now, my kingdom is not from hence. |
[37]Said to Him Pilatus then a king You are? said to him Ieshu you have said that a king am I for this was born I and for this I have come to the world to testify of The Truth everyone who is from The Truth hears My voice |
[37]Pilate said to him . Then thou art a king? Jesus said to him: Thou hast said, that I am a king. For this was I born; and for this came I into the world, that I might bear testimony to the truth. Every one that is of the truth, heareth my voice. |
[38]Said to Him Pilatus what is? The Truth and when he had said this he went out himself again to The Judeans and said to them I not even one fault find do in Him |
[38]Pilate said to him: What is the truth? And as he said this, he went out again to the Jews, and said to them: I find not any crime in him. |
[39]A custom but it is for you that one I shall release to you at Passover desiring you are? therefore I release to you this one the king of The Judeans |
[39]And ye have a custom that I should release one to you at the passover; will ye, therefore, that I release to you this king of the Jews? |
[40]And cried out all of them and they were saying not this one but Barabba he was but this Barabba a robber |
[40]And they all cried out, and said: Not this man, but Barabbas. Now this Barabbas was a robber. |
