Vulgata Clementina (1592)
Vul
Peshitta (Lamsa, 1933)
Pes(Lam)
[1]Evoluto autem multo tempore, postquam pacem dederat Dominus Israëli, subjectis in gyro nationibus universis, et Josue jam longævo, et persenilis ætatis, [1]AND it came to pass after a long time, when the LORD had given rest to Israel from all their enemies round about, that Joshua was old, and well advanced in years.
[2]vocavit Josue omnem Israëlem, majoresque natu, et principes ac duces, et magistros, dixitque ad eos: Ego senui, et progressioris ætatis sum: [2]And Joshua summoned all Israel, their elders, their heads, their judges, and their scribes, and said to them, I am old and well advanced in years;
[3]vosque cernitis omnia, quæ fecerit Dominus Deus vester cunctis per circuitum nationibus, quomodo pro vobis ipse pugnaverit: [3]And you have seen all that the LORD your God has done to all these nations, which he destroyed from before you; for it is the LORD your God who has fought for you.
[4]et nunc quia vobis sorte divisit omnem terram, ab orientali parte Jordanis usque ad mare magnum, multæque adhuc supersunt nationes: [4]Behold, I have not divided to you the land of these nations that remain, in the inheritance of your tribes; but from the Jordan, all the nations that I have destroyed, even to the Great Sea westward, have I divided among you.
[5]The LORD your God will defeat them, and destroy them from before you; and you shall possess their land, as the LORD your God has promised you.
[6]Tantum confortamini, et estote solliciti, ut custodiatis cuncta quæ scripta sunt in volumine legis Moysi: et non declinetis ab eis neque ad dexteram neque ad sinistram: [6]Only be strong to keep and do all that is written in the book of the law of Moses, the servant of God, and not turn aside from it, neither to the right hand nor to the left;
[7]ne postquam intraveritis ad gentes quæ inter vos futuræ sunt, juretis in nomine deorum earum, et serviatis eis, et adoretis illos: [7]And you shall not mix with these nations that remain among you; neither make mention of the names of their gods, nor swear by them, neither serve them, nor worship them;
[8]But cleave to the LORD your God, as you have done even to this day.
[9]Et tunc auferet Dominus Deus in conspectu vestro gentes magnas et robustissimas, et nullus vobis resistere poterit. [9]For the LORD has destroyed from before you great and strong nations; and no man has been able to stand against you to this day.
[10]Unus e vobis persequetur hostium mille viros: quia Dominus Deus vester pro vobis ipse pugnabit, sicut pollicitus est. [10]One man of you shall chase a thousand; for the LORD your God is with you, he it is who fights for you, as he has promised you
[11]Take good heed therefore to yourselves, to revere the LORD your God.
[12]Quod si volueritis gentium harum, quæ inter vos habitant, erroribus adhærere, et cum eis miscere connubia, atque amicitias copulare: [12]For if you ever turn back and join the remnant of these nations that remain among you and make marriages with them and mix with them and they with you;
[13]Then know for sure that the LORD your God will no more destroy these nations from before you; but they shall be snares and traps to you, and spears in your sides and fishhooks in your eyes, until you perish from off this good land which the LORD your God has given you.
[14]And as for me, I am now going the way of all the earth; and you know in all your hearts and in all your souls that not one thing has failed of all the good promises which the LORD your God spoke concerning you; all have come to pass to you, and not one thing has failed.
[15]Sicut ergo implevit opere quod promisit, et prospera cuncta venerunt: sic adducet super vos quidquid malorum comminatus est, donec vos auferat atque disperdat de terra hac optima, quam tradidit vobis, [15]Therefore, just as all the good things have come upon you which the LORD your God promised, so shall come upon you all the curses, until he have destroyed you from off this good land which the LORD your God has given you;
[16]If you should transgress against the covenant of the LORD your God and against the commandments which he commanded you, and go and serve other gods and worship them; then shall the anger of the LORD be kindled against you, and you shall perish quickly from off the good land which he has given you
