[1]But Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, took either of them his censer, and put fire therein, and put incense thereupon, and offered strange fire before the Lord, which he had not commanded them. |
| [2]And there went outH3318[H8799] fireH784 from the LORDH3068, and devouredH398[H8799] them, and they diedH4191[H8799] beforeH6440 the LORDH3068. |
[2]Therefore a fire went out from the Lord, and devoured them: so they died before the Lord. |
| [3]Then MosesH4872 saidH559[H8799] unto AaronH175, This is it that the LORDH3068 spakeH1696[H8765], sayingH559[H8800], I will be sanctifiedH6942[H8735] in them that come nighH7138 me, and beforeH6440 all the peopleH5971 I will be glorifiedH3513[H8735]. And AaronH175 held his peaceH1826.[H8799] |
[3]Then Moses said unto Aaron, This is it that the Lord spake, saying, I will be sanctified in them that come near me, and before all the people I will be glorified: but Aaron held his peace. |
| [4]And MosesH4872 calledH7121[H8799] MishaelH4332 and ElzaphanH469, the sonsH1121 of UzzielH5816 the uncleH1730 of AaronH175, and saidH559[H8799] unto them, Come nearH7126[H8798], carryH5375[H8798] your brethrenH251 from beforeH6440 the sanctuaryH6944 outH2351 of the campH4264. |
[4]And Moses called Mishael and Elzaphan the sons of Uzziel, the uncle of Aaron, and said unto them, Come near, carry your brethren from before the sanctuary out of the host. |
| [5]So they went nearH7126[H8799], and carriedH5375[H8799] them in their coatsH3801 outH2351 of the campH4264; as MosesH4872 had saidH1696.[H8765] |
[5]Then they went, and carried them in their coats out of the host, as Moses had commanded. |
| [6]And MosesH4872 saidH559[H8799] unto AaronH175, and unto EleazarH499 and unto IthamarH385, his sonsH1121, UncoverH6544[H8799] not your headsH7218, neither rendH6533[H8799] your clothesH899; lest ye dieH4191[H8799], and lest wrathH7107[H8799] come upon all the peopleH5712: but let your brethrenH251, the whole houseH1004 of IsraelH3478, bewailH1058[H8799] the burningH8316 which the LORDH3068 hath kindledH8313.[H8804] |
[6]After, Moses said unto Aaron and unto Eleazar and Ithamar his sons, Uncover not your heads, neither rent your clothes, lest ye die, and lest wrath come upon all the people: but let your brethren, all the house of Israel bewail the burning which the Lord hath kindled. |
| [7]And ye shall not go outH3318[H8799] from the doorH6607 of the tabernacleH168 of the congregationH4150, lest ye dieH4191[H8799]: for the anointingH4888 oilH8081 of the LORDH3068 is upon you. And they didH6213[H8799] according to the wordH1697 of MosesH4872. |
[7]And go not ye out from the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, lest ye die: for the anointing oil of the Lord is upon you: and they did according to Moses commandment. |
| [8]And the LORDH3068 spakeH1696[H8762] unto AaronH175, sayingH559,[H8800] |
[8]And the Lord spake unto Aaron, saying, |
| [9]Do not drinkH8354[H8799] wineH3196 nor strong drinkH7941, thou, nor thy sonsH1121 with thee, when ye goH935[H8800] into the tabernacleH168 of the congregationH4150, lest ye dieH4191[H8799]: it shall be a statuteH2708 for everH5769 throughout your generationsH1755: |
[9]Thou shalt not drink wine nor strong drink, thou, nor thy sons with thee, when ye come into the tabernacle of the congregation, lest ye die: this is an ordinance forever throughout your generations, |
| [10]And that ye may put differenceH914[H8687] between holyH6944 and unholyH2455, and between uncleanH2931 and cleanH2889; |
[10]That ye may put difference between the holy and the unholy, and between the clean and the unclean, |
| [11]And that ye may teachH3384[H8687] the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478 all the statutesH2706 which the LORDH3068 hath spokenH1696[H8765] unto them by the handH3027 of MosesH4872. |
[11]And that ye may teach the children of Israel all the statutes which the Lord hath commanded them by the hand of Moses. |
| [12]And MosesH4872 spakeH1696[H8762] unto AaronH175, and unto EleazarH499 and unto IthamarH385, his sonsH1121 that were leftH3498[H8737], TakeH3947[H8798] the meat offeringH4503 that remainethH3498[H8737] of the offeringsH801 of the LORDH3068 made by fireH801, and eatH398[H8798] it without leavenH4682 besideH681 the altarH4196: for it is mostH6944 holyH6944: |
[12]Then Moses said unto Aaron and unto Eleazar and to Ithamar his sons that were left, Take the meat offering that remaineth of the offerings of the Lord, made by fire, and eat it without leaven beside the altar: for it is most holy: |
| [13]And ye shall eatH398[H8804] it in the holyH6918 placeH4725, because it is thy dueH2706, and thy sons'H1121 dueH2706, of the sacrificesH801 of the LORDH3068 made by fireH801: for so I am commandedH6680.[H8795] |
[13]And ye shall eat it in the holy place, because it is thy duty and thy sons' duty of the offerings of the Lord made by fire: for so I am commanded. |
| [14]And the waveH8573 breastH2373 and heaveH8641 shoulderH7785 shall ye eatH398[H8799] in a cleanH2889 placeH4725; thou, and thy sonsH1121, and thy daughtersH1323 with thee: for they be thy dueH2706, and thy sons'H1121 dueH2706, which are givenH5414[H8738] out of the sacrificesH2077 of peace offeringsH8002 of the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478. |
[14]Also the shaken breast and the heave shoulder shall ye eat in a clean place: thou, and thy sons, and thy daughters with thee: for they are given as thy duty and thy sons' duty, of the peace offerings of the children of Israel. |
| [15]The heaveH8641 shoulderH7785 and the waveH8573 breastH2373 shall they bringH935[H8686] with the offerings made by fireH801 of the fatH2459, to waveH5130[H8687] it for a wave offeringH8573 beforeH6440 the LORDH3068; and it shall be thine, and thy sons'H1121 with thee, by a statuteH2706 for everH5769; as the LORDH3068 hath commandedH6680.[H8765] |
[15]The heave shoulder, and the shaken breast shall they bring with the offerings made by fire of the fat, to shake it to and fro before the Lord, and it shall be thine and thy sons with thee by a law forever, as the Lord hath commanded. |
| [16]And MosesH4872 diligentlyH1875[H8800] soughtH1875[H8804] the goatH8163 of the sin offeringH2403, and, behold, it was burntH8313[H8795]: and he was angryH7107[H8799] with EleazarH499 and IthamarH385, the sonsH1121 of AaronH175 which were leftH3498[H8737] alive, sayingH559,[H8800] |
[16]And Moses sought the goat that was offered for sin, and lo, it was burned: therefore he was angry with Eleazar and Ithamar the sons of Aaron, which were left alive, saying, |
| [17]Wherefore have ye not eatenH398[H8804] the sin offeringH2403 in the holyH6944 placeH4725, seeing it is mostH6944 holyH6944, and God hath givenH5414[H8804] it you to bearH5375[H8800] the iniquityH5771 of the congregationH5712, to make atonementH3722[H8763] for them beforeH6440 the LORDH3068? |
[17]Wherefore have ye not eaten the sin offering in the holy place, seeing it is most holy? And God hath given it you, to bear the iniquity of the congregation, to make an atonement for them before the Lord. |
| [18]BeholdH2005, the bloodH1818 of it was not broughtH935[H8717] in withinH6441 the holyH6944 place: ye should indeedH398[H8800] have eatenH398[H8799] it in the holyH6944 place, as I commandedH6680.[H8765] |
[18]Behold, the blood of it was not brought within the holy place: ye should have eaten it in the holy place, as I commanded. |
| [19]And AaronH175 saidH1696[H8762] unto MosesH4872, Behold, this dayH3117 have they offeredH7126[H8689] their sin offeringH2403 and their burnt offeringH5930 beforeH6440 the LORDH3068; and such things have befallenH7122[H8799] me: and if I had eatenH398[H8804] the sin offeringH2403 to dayH3117, should it have been acceptedH3190[H8799] in the sightH5869 of the LORDH3068? |
[19]And Aaron said unto Moses, Behold, this day have they offered their sin offering, and their burnt offering before the Lord, and such things as thou knowest are come unto me: If I had eaten the sin offering today, should it have been accepted in the sight of the Lord? |
| [20]And when MosesH4872 heardH8085[H8799] that, he was contentH3190[H8799].[H5869] |
[20]So when Moses heard it, he was content. |
