[1]Because many were willing to write an account of the events those of which we are persuaded |
[1]BECAUSE many have willed to record histories of those transactions of which we are persuaded, |
[2]Like the things delivered to us those who from the first were eyewitnesses and servants of The Word |
[2]According to that which they have delivered to us, [they] who from the first were eye-witnesses and ministers of his doctrine; |
[3]He appeared also to me because approached I had carefully all of them that every thing in its order I should write to you excellent Theophila |
[3]It appeared also to me, that having been intimately near to them all, I should record every thing in its order for thee, illustrious Theophile, |
[4]That you may know the truth of the words of which you have been instructed by these things |
[4]That thou mayest know the truth of those doctrines in which thou hast been instructed. |
[5]There was in the days of Herod the King of Judea priest one whose name was Zechariah from the ministry of the house of Abia and his wife from the daughters of Aaron her name was Elishaba |
[5]THERE was in the days of Herodes, king of the Jihudoyee, a certain priest whose name was Zakaria, of the service of the house of Abia, and his wife [was] of the daughters of Aharun; her name was Elishaba. |
[6]Both of them but righteous were before Alaha and they were walking in all the commandments and in the judgments of the Lord without reproach |
[6]And they were both just before Aloha, and walked in all his commandments, and in the righteousness of the Lord, without blame. |
[7]A son but there not was to them because Elishaba infertile was and both advanced in their days were |
[7]But they had no son because Elishaba was barren, and both had become many in their days. |
[8]It was but while exercizing priestly function he was in the order of his service before Alaha |
[8]But it was while he was acting-as-priest in the order of his ministry before Aloha, |
[9]In the custom of the priesthood it befell him to offer incense and he entered the temple of the Lord |
[9]According to the custom of the priesthood he came to set on incense, and entered into the temple of the Lord. |
[10]And all the crowds of the people praying were outside at the time of incense |
[10]And all the congregation of the people were praying without at the time of incense. |
[11]And appeared to him to Zechariah an angel of the Lord who stood at the right side of the altar of incense |
[11]And there appeared to him, to Zakaria, the angel of the Lord, standing on the right hand of the altar of incense. |
[12]And was troubled Zechariah when he saw him and dread fell upon him |
[12]And Zakaria trembled when he saw him, and fear fell upon him. |
[13]And said to him the angel not fear Zechariah because has been heard your prayer and your wife Elishaba will bear you a son and you shall call his name Yokhanan |
[13]And the angel said to him, Fear not, Zakaria, for thy prayer is heard, and thy wife Elishaba shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name Juchanon.ⓘ |
[14]And there will be to you Joy and gladness and many will rejoice at his birth |
[14]And to thee shall be joy and exultation, and many shall rejoice in his birth: |
[15]He will be for great before the Lord and wine and strong drink not he will drink and with The Spirit of Holiness he will be filled while he is in the womb of his mother |
[15]For he shall be great before the Lord, and wine and strong liquorⓘ shall he not drink, and with the Spirit of Holiness shall he be filled, from the womb of his mother. |
[16]And many of the children of Israel he will turn to the Lord their Alaha |
[16]And many of the sons of Isroel shall he convert to the Lord their Aloha. |
[17]And he will go before Him in the spirit and in the power of Elia the prophet to turn the heart of fathers to the children and those who not are persuaded to the knowledge of the Just One and he will prepare for the Lord a people perfect |
[17]And he shall go before him in the spirit and the power of Elia the prophet, to turn the hearts of the fathers unto the children, and those who believe not to the knowledge of the righteous, and to prepare for the Lord a perfect people. |
[18]And said Zechariah to the angel how? shall I know this I for am old and my wife advanced in her days is |
[18]And Zakaria said to the angel, How shall I know this? for I am old, and my wife many in her days. |
[19]Answered the angel and he said to him I am Gabriel who standing am before Alaha and I am sent to speak with you and to give you tidings these |
[19]And the angel answered and said to him, I am Gabriel, I stand before Aloha, and I have been sent to speak with thee and to announce to thee these things. |
[20]Henceforth you will be dumb and not you will be able to speak until the day that these things will occur because not you believed my words these which will be fulfilled in their time |
[20]From henceforth thou shalt be dumb, and shalt not be able to speak, till the day when these things shall be done, because thou hast not believed these words, which shall be fulfilled in their time. |
[21]The people but standing were waiting for Zechariah and wondering they were at his tarrying in the temple |
[21]But the people were standing, and expecting Zakaria. and were wondering at his delay in the temple. |
[22]When came out but Zechariah not able he was to speak with them and they perceived that a vision he had seen in the temple and he making signs gesturing was to them and he remained still mute |
[22]But when Zakaria had come forth, he could not speak to them; and he made them understand that he had seen a vision in the temple, and signing he signed to them, and remained dumb. |
[23]And when were fulfilled the days of his service he went to his house |
[23]And when the days of his service were fulfilled, he came to his house. |
[24]And it was from after days those conceived Elishaba his wife and secluded she had herself months five and said she |
[24]And it was after those days Elishaba his wife conceived, and she secluded herself five months. And she said, |
[25]These things has done for me the Lord in the days in which He regarded me to take away my reproach that is among the children of men |
[25]These things hath the Lord done for me in the days of my desolation, to take away my reproach from among the children of men. |
[26]In the month but sixth was sent Gabriel the angel from the presence of Alaha to Galila to the city whose name was Natsareth |
[26]BUT in the sixth month Gabriel the angel was sent from before Aloha to Galila, to a city whose name [is] Natsrath, |
[27]To a virgin who was engaged to a man from the house of David whose name Yoseph and the name for the virgin Maryam |
[27]Unto a Virgin espoused to a man whose name was Jauseph, of the house of David, and the name of the Virgin was Mariam. |
[28]And entered to her the angel and he said to her peace to you full of grace our Lord is with you you are blessed among women |
[28]And the angel entered to her, and said to her, Peace to thee, full of grace! our Lord is with thee, thou blessed among women! |
[29]She but when she saw she was alarmed at his word and reasoning she was what? is greeting this |
[29]But she, when she saw, was troubled at his words, and reasoned what this salutation was. |
[30]And said to her the angel not you should fear Maryam you have found for favor with Alaha |
[30]And the angel said to her, Fear not, Mariam, for thou hast found favour with Aloha. |
[31]Behold for you will receive conception and you will give birth to a Son and you shall call His Name Ieshu |
[31]For, behold, thou shalt conceive, and shalt bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jeshu. |
[32]This One will be great and The Son of The Highest He will be called and will give to him the Lord Alaha the throne of David His father |
[32]He will be great, and the Son of the Most Highⓘ shall he be called, and Aloha the Lord shall give unto him the throne of David his father. |
[33]And He will reign over the house of Yaqob eternally and to His Kingdom an end not there will be |
[33]And he shall reign over the house of Jakub for ever, and of his kingdom there shall be no end. |
[34]She said Maryam to the angel How? will be this for a man not has known me |
[34]And Mariam said to the angel, How shall this be, because a man is not known to me? |
[35]Answered the angel and said to her The Spirit of Holiness will come and the power of The Highest will rest upon you because of this He Who will be begotten in you holy will be and The Son of Alaha He will be called |
[35]The angel answered and said to her, The Spirit of Holiness shall come, and the Power of the Most Highⓘ shall shadow over thee; on account of this He who [shall be] born from thee is the Holy, and the Son of Aloha shall be called. |
[36]And behold Elishaba your cousin also she has conceived a son in her old age and this the month sixth it is for her who is called barren |
[36]And behold, Elishaba thy kinswoman, she also beareth a son in her old age, and this is the sixth month to her,—to her who is called the barren. |
[37]Because not is difficult to Alaha anything |
[37]For nothing is difficult to Aloha. |
[38]She said Maryam behold I am the handmaid of the Lord let be done to me according to your word and departed the angel from her |
[38]And Mariam said, Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord, be it unto me as thou hast said. And the angel went from her. |
[39]Arose but Maryam among them in days those and she went instantly to the mountains to a city of Judea |
[39]AND Mariam arose in those days, and went with haste to the mountain to a city of Jehud; |
[40]And she entered the house of Zechariah and she invoked the peace of Elishaba |
[40]And she entered into the house of Zakaria, and salutedⓘ Elishaba. |
[41]And it was that when heard Elishaba the greeting of Maryam leapt the baby in her womb and was filled Elishaba with the Spirit of Holiness |
[41]And it was that when Elishaba heard the salutation of Mariam, the infant leaped in her womb. And she was filled with the Spirit of Holiness; |
[42]And she cried in a voice loud and she said to Maryam blessed you are among women and blessed is the fruit that is in your womb |
[42]And she cried with a loud voice, and said unto Mariam, Bessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb! |
[43]From where? to me is this that the mother of my Lord would come to me |
[43]Whence unto me is this, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? |
[44]Behold for when fell the voice of your greeting in my ear in Joy great leapt the baby in my womb |
[44]For, lo, as fell the voice of thy salutation on my ears, for great Joy leaped the infant in my womb. |
[45]And blessed is she the one who believed that there would be a fulfillment to those things that were spoken with her from the presence of the Lord |
[45]And happy is she who hath believed, for there is a fulfilment of those things which have been spoken to her from the Lord. |
[46]And said Maryam exalts my soul The Lord the Lord |
[46]And Mariam said: My soul doth magnify the Lord, |
[47]And rejoices my spirit in Alaha my Savior |
[47]And my spirit rejoiceth in Aloha my Saviour, |
[48]For He has regarded the lowliness of His maidservant behold for from this hour blessedness they will ascribe to me generations all |
[48]Who hath looked upon the lowliness of his handmaid: for, behold, from now all generations shall give blessedness to me. |
[49]Because He has done to me great things He Who is mighty and holy is His Name |
[49]Because he hath done for me great things, he who is mighty, and holy is his name. |
[50]And His mercy to posterity and generations is upon those who revere Him |
[50]And his grace is for ages and generations upon those who fear him. |
[51]He has wrought victory with His arm and He has scattered the proud with the opinion of their heart |
[51]He hath wrought victory with his arm; |
[52]He has cast down the mighty from thrones and He has raised up the lowly |
[52]He hath scattered the proud in the thoughts of their hearts. He hath overturned the mighty from their thrones, and hath exalted the humble. |
[53]The hungry He has filled with good things and the rich He has sent away empty handed |
[53]The hungry he hath satisfied with good things, and the rich he hath sent away empty. |
[54]He has helped Israel His servant and he has remembered His mercy |
[54]He hath helped Isroel his servant, and hath remembered his mercy; |
[55]Just as He spoke with our patriarchs with Abraham and with his seed eternally |
[55]As he spake with our fathers, with Abraham and with his seed for ever. |
[56]Stayed but Maryam with Elishaba about months three and she returned to her house |
[56]And Mariam stayed with Elishaba three months, and returned to her house. |
[57]Elishaba but it was for her time that she would bear and she bore a son |
[57]BUT to Elishaba had come the time that she should give birth, and she gave birth to a son. |
[58]And they heard her neighbors and the children of her family that had magnified Alaha His mercy to her and rejoiced they with her |
[58]And her neighbours and the sons of her family heard that Aloha had magnified his grace upon her; and they rejoiced with her. |
[59]And it was on the day eighth and they came to circumcise the boy and calling they were him by the name of his father Zechariah |
[59]And it was the eighth day, and they came to circumcise the child; and they called him by the name of his father, Zakaria. |
[60]And answered his mother and she said to them not so but he will be called Yokhanan |
[60]And his mother answered and said to them, Not so; but he shall be called Juchanon. |
[61]And they said to her there is not a man among your generations who is called by name this |
[61]And they said to her, No man in thy kindred is called by this name. |
[62]And they signed to his father that in which way? he wanted to name him |
[62]And they signed to his father [to show] how he willed they should call him. |
[63]He requested a tablet and he wrote and he said Yokhanan is his name and was amazed everyone |
[63]And he requested a tablet, and wrote, and said, Juchanan is his name. And every man wondered. |
[64]And at once had been opened his mouth and his tongue and he spoke and he blessed to Alaha |
[64]And immediately his mouth and his tongue were opened, and he spake, and blessed Aloha. |
[65]And there was awe on all of them their neighbors and in all the mountains of Judea these things being spoken were |
[65]And there was fear upon all around them; and in all the hill country of Jehud were these things spoken. |
[66]And all those who heard contemplating were in their heart and they were saying what? indeed will be the boy this and the hand of the Lord it was with him |
[66]And all who heard reasoned in their hearts, and said, What is this child to be? And the hand of the Lord was with him. |
[67]And was filled Zechariah his father with The Spirit of Holiness and he prophesied and he said |
[67]And Zakaria his father was filled with the Spirit of Holiness, and he prophesied, and said: |
[68]Blessed is the Lord the Alaha of Israel Who has visited His nation and He has wrought for it redemption |
[68]Blessed be the Lord, the Aloha of Israel; for he hath visited his people, and wrought for him redemption, |
[69]And He has raised up for us a trumpet of redemption in the house of David His servant |
[69]And hath raised up for us the horn of redemption in the house of David his servant; |
[70]Just as He spoke by the mouth of His prophets holy that which is from eternity |
[70]As he spake by the mouth of his holy prophets, who have been from of old, |
[71]That He would save us from our enemies and from the hand of all of them who hate us |
[71]That we should be delivered from our adversaries, and from the hand of all who hate us; |
[72]And He has wrought His mercy with our fathers and He has remembered His covenants holy |
[72]To perform his grace with our fathers, and to remember his holy covenant; |
[73]And the oath that He swore to Abraham our patriarch that He would grant us |
[73]The oath which he sware to Abraham our father,—that to us he would grant |
[74]That we would be saved from the hands of our enemies and without fear we should serve before Him |
[74]That, being delivered from the hand of our adversaries, without fear we might serve before him |
[75]All of our days in justice and in righteousness |
[75]All our days in righteousness. |
[76]And you boy the prophet of The Highest you will be called you will go for before the Person of the Lord that you may prepare His way |
[76]And thou, child, the Prophet of the Most High shalt thou be called; for thou shalt go before the face of the Lord, and thou shalt prepare his way; |
[77]That He may give the knowledge of Life to His people in forgiveness of their sins |
[77]To give the knowledge of salvation to his people in the forgiveness of their sins, |
[78]In the compassion of the mercy of our Alaha in which will visit us the Manifestation from Heaven |
[78]Through the compassions of the grace of our Aloha; whereby the morn-splendour shall visit us from on high, |
[79]To enlighten those who in darkness and in the shadow of death are sitting that He may direct our feet in the path of peace |
[79]To illumine those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death. And to direct our feet into the way of peace. |
[80]The boy but growing was and being strengthened in spirit and in the wilderness he dwelt until the day of his manifestation unto Israel |
[80]And the child grew, and was strong in the spirit, and was in the desert till the day of his manifestation unto Isroel. |
