| [1]והוא דכד הו מצלא בדוכתא חדא כד שׁלמ אמר לה חד מנ תלמידוהי מרנ אלפינ למצליו איכנא דאפ יוחננ אלפ לתלמידוהי |
[1]And so it was, that as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Master, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples. |
| [2]אמר להונ ישׁוע אמתי דמצלינ אנתונ הכנא הויתונ אמרינ אבונ דבשׁמיא נתקדשׁ שׁמכ תאתא מלכותכ נהוא צבינכ איכ דבשׁמיא אפ בארעא |
[2]And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father, which art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name: Thy kingdom come: Let thy will be done even in earth, as it is in heaven: |
| [3]הב לנ לחמא דסונקננ כליומ |
[3]Our daily bread give us for the day: |
| [4]ושׁבוק לנ חטהינ אפ חננ גיר שׁבקנ לכל דחיבינ לנ ולא תעלנ לנסיונא אלא פרוקינ מנ בישׁא |
[4]And forgive us our sins: for even we forgive every man that is indebted to us: And lead us not into temptation: but deliver us from evil. |
| [5]ואמר להונ מנו מנכונ דאית לה רחמא ונאזל לותה בפלגות לליא ונאמר לה רחמי אשׁאליני תלת גריצנ |
[5]� Moreover he said unto them, Which of you shall have a friend, and shall go to him at midnight, and say unto him, Friend, lend me three loaves? |
| [6]מטל דרחמא אתא לותי מנ אורחא ולית לי מדמ דאסימ לה |
[6]For a friend of mine is come out of the way to me, and I have nothing to set before him: |
| [7]והו רחמה מנ לגו נענא ונאמר לה לא תהריני דהא תרעא אחיד הו ובני עמי בערסא לא משׁכח אנא דאקומ ואתל לכ |
[7]And he within should answer, and say, Trouble me not: the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed: I cannot rise and give them to thee. |
| [8]אמר אנא לכונ דאנ מטל רחמותא לא נתל לה מטל חציפותה נקומ ונתל לה כמא דמתבעא לה |
[8]I say unto you, though he would not arise and give him, because he is his friend, yet doubtless because of his importunity, he would rise, and give him as many as he needed. |
| [9]אפ אנא אמר אנא לכונ שׁאלו ונתיהב לכונ בעו ותשׁכחונ קושׁו ונתפתח לכונ |
[9]And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you: seek, and ye shall find: knock, and it shall be opened unto you. |
| [10]כל גיר דשׁאל נסב ודבעא משׁכח ודנקשׁ מתפתח לה |
[10]For every one that asketh, receiveth: and he that seeketh, findeth: and to him that knocketh, it shall be opened. |
| [11]אינא גיר מנכונ אבא דנשׁאליוהי ברה לחמא למא כאפא מושׁט לה ואנ נונא נשׁאליוהי למא חלפ נונא חויא מושׁט לה |
[11]If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent? |
| [12]ואנ ברתא נשׁאליוהי למא הו עקרבא מושׁט לה |
[12]Or if he ask an egg, will he give him a scorpion? |
| [13]ואנ אנתונ דבישׁא אנתונ ידעינ אנתונ מוהבתא טבתא למתל לבניכונ כמא יתיראית אבוכונ מנ שׁמיא נתל רוחא דקודשׁא לאילינ דשׁאלינ לה |
[13]If ye then which are evil, can give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Ghost to them, that desire him? |
| [14]וכד מפק שׁאדא דאיתוהי חרשׁא הוא דכד נפק הו שׁאדא מלל הו חרשׁא ואתדמרו כנשׁא |
[14]� Then he cast out a devil which was dumb: and when the devil was gone out, the dumb spake, and the people wondered. |
| [15]אנשׁא דינ מנהונ אמרו בבעלזבוב רשׁא דדיוא מפק הנא דיוא |
[15]But some of them said, He casteth out devils through Beelzebub the chief of the devils. |
| [16]אחרנא דינ כד מנסינ לה אתא מנ שׁמיא שׁאלינ הוו לה |
[16]And others tempted him, seeking of him a sign from heaven. |
| [17]ישׁוע דינ דידע הוא מחשׁבתהונ אמר להונ כל מלכו דתתפלג על נפשׁה תחרב וביתא דעל קנומה מתפלג נפל |
[17]But he knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself, shall be desolate, and an house divided against an house, falleth. |
| [18]ואנ סטנא על נפשׁה אתפלג איכנא תקומ מלכותה דאמרינ אנתונ דבבעלזבוב מפק אנא דיוא |
[18]So if Satan also be divided against himself, how shall his kingdom stand, because ye say that I cast out devils through Beelzebub? |
| [19]ואנ אנא בבעלזבוב מפק אנא דיוא בניכונ במנא מפקינ מטל הנא הנונ נהוונ לכונ דינא |
[19]If I through Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your children cast them out? Therefore shall they be your judges. |
| [20]אנ דינ בצבעא דאלהא מפק אנא דיוא קרבת לה עליכונ מלכותה דאלהא |
[20]But if I by the finger of God cast out devils, doubtless the kingdom of God is come unto you. |
| [21]אמתי דחסינא כד מזינ נטר דרתה בשׁינא הו קנינה |
[21]When a strong man armed, keepeth his palace, the things that he possesseth, are in peace. |
| [22]אנ דינ נאתא מנ דחסינ מנה נזכיוהי כלה זינה שׁקל הו דתכיל הוא עלוהי ובזתה מפלג |
[22]But when a stronger then he, cometh upon him, and overcometh him: he taketh from him all his armor wherein he trusted, and divideth his spoils. |
| [23]מנ דלא הוא עמי לוקבלי הו ומנ דלא כנשׁ עמ מבדרו מבדר |
[23]He that is not with me, is against me: and he that gathereth not with me, scattereth. |
| [24]רוחא טנפתא מא דנפקת מנ ברנשׁא אזלא מתכרכא באתרותא דמיא לית בהונ דתבעא לה ניחא ומא דלא אשׁכחת אמרא אהפוכ לביתי אימכא דנפקת |
[24]When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest: and when he findeth none, he saith, I will return unto mine house whence I came out. |
| [25]ואנ אתת אשׁכחתה דחמימ ומצבת |
[25]And when he cometh, he findeth it swept and garnished. |
| [26]הידינ אזלא דברא שׁבע רוחינ אחרנינ דבישׁנ מנה ועאלנ ועמרנ תמנ והויא חרתה דברנשׁא הו בישׁא מנ קדמיתה |
[26]Then goeth he, and taketh to him seven other spirits worse than himself: and they enter in, and dwell there, so the last state of that man is worse than the first. |
| [27]וכד הלינ ממלל הוא ארימת אנתתא חדא קלה מנ כנשׁא ואמרת לה טוביה לכרסא דטענתכ ולתדיא דאינקוכ |
[27]� And it came to pass as he said these things, a certain woman of the company lifted up her voice, and said unto him, Blessed is the womb that bare thee, and the paps which thou hast sucked. |
| [28]אמר לה הו טוביהונ לאילינ דשׁמעו מלתה דאלהא ונטרינ לה |
[28]But he said, Yea, rather blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it. |
| [29]וכד מתכנשׁינ הוו כנשׁא שׁרי למאמר שׁרבתא הדא בישׁתא אתא בעיא ואתא לא תתיהב לה אלא אתה דיוננ נביא |
[29]� And when the people were gathered thick together, he began to say, This is a wicked generation: they seek a sign, and there shall no sign be given them, but the sign of Jonah the Prophet. |
| [30]איכנא גיר דהוא יוננ אתא לנינויא הכנא נהוא אפ ברה דאנשׁא לשׁרבתא הדא |
[30]For as Jonah was a sign to the Ninivites, so shall also the Son of man be to this generation. |
| [31]מלכתא דתימנא תקומ בדינא עמ אנשׁא דשׁרבתא הדא ותחיב אנונ דאתת מנ עבריה דארעא דתשׁמע חכמתה דשׁלימונ והא דיתיר מנ שׁלימונ הרכא |
[31]The Queen of the South shall rise in judgment, with the men of this generation, and shall condemn them: for she came from the utmost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon, and behold, a greater than Solomon is here. |
| [32]גברא נינויא נקומונ בדינא עמ שׁרבתא הדא ונחיבונה דתבו בכרוזותה דיוננ והא דיתיר מנ יוננ הרכא |
[32]The men of Nineveh shall rise in judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for they repented at the preaching of Jonah: and behold, a greater than Jonah is here. |
| [33]לא אנשׁ מנהר שׁרגא וסאמ לה בכסיא או תחית סאתא אלא לעל מנ מנרתא דאילינ דעאלינ נחזונ נוהרה |
[33]� No man lighteth a candle, and putteth it in a private place, neither under a bushel: but on a candlestick, that they which come in, may see the light. |
| [34]שׁרגה דפגרכ איתיה עינכ אמתי הכיל דעינכ פשׁיטא אפ כלה פגרכ נהוא נהיר אנ דינ תהוא בישׁא ואפ פגרכ נהוא חשׁוכ |
[34]The light of the body is the eye: therefore when thine eye is single, then is thy whole body light: but if thy eye be evil, then thy body is dark. |
| [35]אזדהר הכיל דלמא נוהרא דבכ חשׁוכא הו |
[35]Take heed therefore, that the light which is in thee, be not darkness. |
| [36]אנ דינ כלה פגרכ נהיר הו ולית בה מנתא מדמ חשׁוכא נהוא מנהר כלה איכ דשׁרגא בדלקה מנהר לכ |
[36]If therefore thy whole body shall be light, having no part dark, then shall all be light, even as when a candle doth light thee with the brightness. |
| [37]כד דינ ממלל בעא מנה פרישׁא חד דנשׁתרא לותה ועל אסתמכ |
[37]� And as he spake, a certain Pharisee besought him to dine with him: and he went in, and sat down at table. |
| [38]הו דינ פרישׁא כד חזיהי אתדמר דלא לוקדמ עמד מנ קדמ שׁרותה |
[38]And when the Pharisee saw it, he marveled that he had not first washed before dinner. |
| [39]אמר לה דינ ישׁוע השׁא אנתונ פרישׁא ברה דכסא ודפינכא מדכינ אנתונ לגו מנכונ דינ מלא חטופיא ובישׁתא |
[39]And the Lord said to him, In deed ye Pharisees make clean the outside of the cup, and of the platter: but the inward part is full of ravening and wickedness. |
| [40]חסירי רעינא לא הוא מנ דעבד דלבר ודלגו הו עבד |
[40]Ye fools, did not he that made that which is without, make that which is within also? |
| [41]ברמ מדמ דאית הבוהי בזדקתא והא כל מדמ דכא הו לכונ |
[41]Therefore, give alms of those things which are within, and behold, all things shall be clean to you. |
| [42]אלא וי לכונ פרישׁא דמעסרינ אנתונ ננעא ופגנא וכל יורק ועברינ אנתונ על דינא ועל חובא דאלהא הלינ דינ ולא הוא דתעבדונ והלינ לא תשׁבקונ |
[42]But woe be to you, Pharisees: for ye tithe the mint and the rue, and all manner herbs, and pass over judgment and the love of God: these ought ye to have done, and not to have left the other undone. |
| [43]וי לכונ פרישׁא דרחמינ אנתונ רישׁ מותבא בכנושׁתא ושׁלמא בשׁוקא |
[43]Woe be to you, Pharisees: for ye love the uppermost seats in the Synagogues, and greetings in the markets. |
| [44]וי לכונ ספרא ופרישׁא נסבי באפא דאיתיכונ איכ קברא דלא ידיעינ ובנינשׁא מהלכינ עליהונ ולא ידעינ |
[44]Woe be to you, Scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites: for ye are as graves which appear not, and the men that walk over them, perceive not. |
| [45]וענא חד מנ ספרא ואמר לה מלפנא כד הלינ אמר אנת ואפ לנ מצער אנת |
[45]� Then answered one of the expounders of the Law, and said unto him, Master, thus saying thou puttest us to rebuke also. |
| [46]הו דינ אמר אפ לכונ ספרא וי דמטענינ אנתונ לבנינשׁא מובלא יקירתא ואנתונ בחדא מנ צבעתכונ לא קרבינ אנתונ להינ למובלא |
[46]And he said, Woe be to you also, ye interpreters of the Law: for ye lade men with burdens grievous to be born, and ye yourselves touch not the burdens with one of your fingers. |
| [47]וי לכונ דבנינ אנתונ קברא דנביא דאבהיכונ קטלו אנונ |
[47]Woe be to you: for ye build the sepulchers of the Prophets, and your fathers killed them. |
| [48]סהדינ אנתונ הכיל וצבינ אנתונ בעבדא דאבהיכונ דהנונ קטלו אנונ ואנתונ בנינ אנתונ קבריהונ |
[48]Truly ye bear witness, and allow the deeds of your fathers: for they killed them, and ye build their sepulchers. |
| [49]מטל הנא אפ חכמתא דאלהא אמרת דהא אנא אשׁדר להונ נביא ושׁליחא מנהונ נרדפונ ונקטלונ |
[49]Therefore said the wisdom of God, I will send them Prophets and Apostles, and of them they shall slay and persecute, |
| [50]דנתתבע דמא דכלהונ נביא דאתאשׁד מנ דאתברי עלמא מנ שׁרבתא הדא |
[50]That the blood of all the Prophets, shed from the foundation of the world, may be required of this generation, |
| [51]מנ דמה דהביל עדמא לדמה דזכריא הו דאתקטל ביני היכלא למדבחא אינ אמר אנא לכונ דמתתבע מנ שׁרבתא הדא |
[51]From the blood of Abel unto the blood of Zechariah, which was slain between the altar and the Temple: Verily I say unto you, it shall be required of this generation. |
| [52]וי לכונ ספרא דשׁקלתונ קלידא דידעתא אנתונ לא עלתונ ולאילינ דעאלינ כליתונ |
[52]Woe be to you, interpreters of the Law: for ye have taken away the key of knowledge: ye entered not in yourselves, and them that came in, ye forbade. |
| [53]וכד הלינ אמר הוא להונ שׁריו ספרא ופרישׁא מתבאשׁ להונ ומתחמתינ הוו ומתכסינ מלוהי |
[53]And as he said these things unto them, the Scribes and Pharisees began to urge him sore, and to provoke him to speak of many things, |
| [54]ונכלינ לה בסגיאתא כד בעינ למאחד מדמ מנ פומה דנשׁכחונ נאכלונ קרצוהי |
[54]Laying wait for him, and seeking to catch something of his mouth, whereby they might accuse him. |
