| [1]But vpon the first day of the Sabbathes, [very] early in the mornyng, they came vnto the sepulchre, & brought ye sweete odours which they had prepared, and other women with them |
[1]But on the first [day] in the week, in the morning, while yet dark, they came to the sepulchre, and brought those aromatics which they had prepared; and with them there were other women. |
| [2]And they founde the stone rolled away from the sepulchre |
[2]And they found the stone rolled from the sepulchre, |
| [3]And they went in: but founde not the body of the Lorde Iesu |
[3]And entered, but found not the body of Jeshu. |
| [4]And it came to passe, as they were amased therat: Beholde, two men stoode by them in shinyng garmentes |
[4]And it was that while they were amazed at this, behold, two men stood over against them, and whose raiment shined; |
| [5]And as they were afrayde, and bowed downe their faces to the earth, they said vnto them: Why seeke ye the lyuyng among the dead |
[5]And they were in fear, and bowed their faces to the earth. And they said to them, Why are you seeking the living with the dead? |
| [6]He is not here, but is risen: Remember howe he spake vnto you, when he was yet in Galilee |
[6]He is not here, he is risen. Remember what he spake with you while he was in Galila, |
| [7]Saying: that the sonne of man must be deliuered into the handes of sinfull men, and be crucified, and the thirde day rise agayne |
[7]And [when he] said, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of men of sins, and he will be crucified, and [in] the third of the days he will arise. |
| [8]And they remembred his wordes |
[8]And they remembered his words, |
| [9]And returned from the sepulchre, and tolde all these thinges vnto those eleuen, and to all the remnaunt |
[9]And returned from the sepulchre, and told all these [things] unto the eleven, and to the rest. |
| [10]It was Marie Magdalene, and Ioanna, and Marie Iacobi, and other that were with them, which tolde these thinges vnto the Apostles |
[10]Now it was Mariam Magdalitha, Juchanon, and Mariam his mother, and Jacub, and the rest who were with them, who told these [occurrences] to the apostles. |
| [11]And their wordes seemed vnto them fayned thynges, neither beleued they them |
[11]And these words appeared in their eyes as dreams, and they believed them not. |
| [12]Then arose Peter, and ran vnto the sepulchre, and loked in, and sawe the linnen clothes layde by them selues, and departed, wondryng in him selfe at that which was come to passe |
[12]But Shemun arose, and ran to the sepulchre, and, looking in, he saw the linen clothes lying apart; and he went away, wondering in himself at what was done. |
| [13]And beholde, two of them went that same day to a towne called Emaus, which was from Hierusalem about threescore furlonges |
[13]AND, behold, two of them in that day went to a village whose name was Emaos, and distant from Urishlem sixty stadia. |
| [14]And they talked together of all these thynges that were done |
[14]And they talked one with the other of all these [events] which had happened. |
| [15]And it came to passe, that whyle they communed together & reasoned, Iesus him selfe drewe neare, and went with them |
[15]And while they discoursed and investigated one with the other, Jeshu himself came and went with them, and walked with them. |
| [16]But their eyes were holden, that they shoulde not knowe him |
[16]And their eyes were holden, that they should not know him. |
| [17]And he sayde vnto them: What maner of communications are these that ye haue one to another as ye walke, and are sad |
[17]And he said to them, What are these words that you speak with each other, as you walk and are sad? |
| [18]And the one of them, whose name was Cleophas, aunswered, and sayde to him: Art thou only a straunger in Hierusalem, & hast not knowen the thinges which are come to passe there, in these dayes |
[18]And one of them answered, whose name was Kleopha, and said to him, Art thou only a stranger from Urishlem, who knowest not what hath been done in it in these days? |
| [19]He sayde vnto them: what thynges? And they sayde vnto him: Of Iesus of Nazareth, whiche was a prophete, mightie in deede and worde before God and all the people |
[19]He saith to them, What? They say to him, Concerning Jeshu, who was of Natsrath, a man who was a prophet, and mighty in word and in deed before Aloha, and before all the people. |
| [20]And howe the hye priestes, and our rulers deliuered him to be condempned to death, and haue crucified him |
[20]And the chief priests and elders delivered him to the judgment of death, and crucified him. |
| [21]But we trusted that it had ben he which shoulde haue redeemed Israel: And as touchyng all these thynges, to day is euen the thirde day, that they were done |
[21]But we had hoped that it was he who shall redeem Isroel; and, lo, three days [have passed] since all these things were done. |
| [22]Yea, and certayne women also of our companie made vs astonied, which came early vnto the sepulchre |
[22]But women also of us have astonished us; for they were before at the sepulchre; |
| [23]And founde not his body, and came, saying that they had seene a vision of angels, which sayde that he was alyue |
[23]And when they found not his body, they came and told us that angels they had seen there, and [that] they had said concerning him that he was alive. |
| [24]And certayne of them which were with vs, went to the sepulchre, & founde it euen so as the women had sayde: but hym they sawe not |
[24]And some also of us went to the sepulchre, and found even as the women had said, but him they saw not. |
| [25]And he sayde vnto them: O fooles and slowe of heart, to beleue all that the prophetes haue spoken |
[25]Then said Jeshu to them, O wanting in understanding, and hard of heart to believe all the things which the prophets have spoken! |
| [26]Ought not Christe to haue suffered these thinges, & to enter into his glory |
[26]Was it not to be that these the Meshicha should suffer, and enter into his glory? |
| [27]And he began at Moyses, and all the prophetes, and interpreted vnto them in all Scriptures which were writen of hym |
[27]And, beginning from Musha and all the prophets, he explained to them concerning himself from all the scriptures. |
| [28]And they drewe nye vnto the towne which they went vnto, and he made as though he would haue gone further |
[28]And they drew near to that village to which they were going; and he made them suppose that to a more distant place he was going. |
| [29]And they constrayned hym, saying: abyde with vs, for it draweth towarde nyght, and the day is farre passed. And he went in to tary with them |
[29]And they constrained him, and said to him, Abide with us, because the day now inclines to darken. And he went in to remain with them. |
| [30]And it came to passe, as he sate at meate with them, he toke bread, and blessed it, and brake, and gaue to them |
[30]And it was that, while he reclined with them, he took bread, and blessed, and brake, and gave to them. |
| [31]And their eyes were opened, and they knewe him: and he vanished out of their syght |
[31]And at once their eyes were opened, and they knew him; and he was taken from them. |
| [32]And they sayde betweene them selues: Dyd not our heartes burne within vs, whyle he talked with vs by the way, and opened vnto vs the scriptures |
[32]And they said one to the other, Did not our hearts burn within us, while he spake with us by the way, and explained to us the scriptures? |
| [33]And they rose vp the same houre, and returned [agayne] to Hierusalem, and founde the eleuen gathered together, and them that were with them |
[33]And they arose in the same hour, and returned to Urishlem, and found the eleven, who were assembled, and they who were with them, |
| [34]Saying: The Lorde is rysen in deede, and hath appeared to Simon |
[34]Saying, Assuredly our Lord is risen, and hath appeared unto Shemun. |
| [35]And they tolde what thynges were done in the way, and howe they knewe him in breakyng of bread |
[35]And they also declared those things which had happened in the way, and how he was made known to them while he brake the bread. |
| [36]And as they thus spake, Iesus him selfe stoode in the middes of them, and saith vnto them: Peace be vnto you |
[36]AND while they were discoursing, Jeshu stood among them, and said to them, Peace be with you! I am; fear not. |
| [37]But they were abasshed and afrayde, & supposed that they had seene a spirite |
[37]And they were troubled, and were in fear; for they thought they beheld a spirit. |
| [38]And he sayde vnto them: Why are ye troubled, and why do thoughtes arise in your heartes |
[38]Jeshu saith to them, Why are you perturbed, and why arise thoughts in your hearts? |
| [39]Beholde my handes and my feete, that it is euen I my selfe: Handle me and see, for a spirite hath not fleshe and bones, as ye see me haue |
[39]Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I: feel me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as you see that I have. |
| [40]And when he had thus spoken, he shewed them his handes and his feete |
[40]And while these words he spake, he showed them his hands and his feet. |
| [41]And whyle they yet beleued not for ioy, and wondred, he sayde vnto them: Haue ye heare any meate |
[41]And while they as yet believed not for joy, and wondered, he said to them, Have you here somewhat to eat? |
| [42]And they offered him a peece of a broyled fishe, and of an hony combe |
[42]And they gave to him a portion of broiled fish, and of the comb of honey; |
| [43]And he toke it, and dyd eate before them |
[43]And he took [and] did eat before their eyes. |
| [44]And he sayde vnto them: These are the wordes which I spake vnto you, whyle I was yet with you, that all must [needes] be fulfylled, which were written of me in the law of Moyses, and in the prophetes, and in the psalmes |
[44]And he said to them, These are the words that I spoke with you while I was with you, that every thing must be fulfilled which is written in the law of Musha, and in the Prophets, and in the Psalms, concerning me. |
| [45]Then opened he their wittes, that they myght vnderstande the scriptures |
[45]Then opened he their minds, that they might understand the scriptures. |
| [46]And sayde vnto them: Thus is it written, and thus it behoued Christe to suffer, and to rise agayne from death the thirde day |
[46]And he said to them, that so it is written, and so it was just, that the Meshicha should suffer, and should rise from among the dead in the three days, |
| [47]And that repentaunce and remission of sinnes shoulde be preached in his name among all nations, and must begyn at Hierusalem |
[47]And that in his name should be preached repentance and the forgiveness of sins among all nations, and that the commencement should be from Urishlem. |
| [48]And ye are witnesses of these thynges |
[48]And you are the witnesses of these. |
| [49]And beholde I wyll sende the promise of my father vpon you: But tary ye in the citie of Hierusalem, vntyll ye be endued with power from an hye |
[49]And I will send upon you the promise of my Father. But await you in Urishlem the city until you be clothed with power from on high. |
| [50]And he led them out into Bethanie, and lift vp his handes, & blessed them |
[50]And he brought them out unto Bethania, and lifted up his hands, and blessed them. |
| [51]And it came to passe, as he blessed them, he departed from them, and was caryed vp into heauen |
[51]And it was that while he blessed them, he was separated from them, and he ascended to the heavens. |
| [52]And they worshipped him, and returned to Hierusalem with great ioy |
[52]And they worshipped him, and returned to Urishlem with great joy. |
| [53]And were continually in the temple, praysyng and laudyng God. Amen |
[53]And at all time were they in the temple, praising and blessing Aloha. Amen.
