[1]And it was that when had finished Ieshu charging the twelve His disciples He moved from there to teach and to preach in their cities |
[1]AND it was that when Jeshu had finished instructing his twelve disciples, he removed from thence to teach and preach in their cities. |
[2]Yohanan but when He had heard in the house of prisoners His works of the Messiah he sent by the hand of his disciples |
[2]But Juchanon, when he heard in the house of the bound the works of the Meshicha, sent by his disciples, |
[3]And he said to Him you are? He Who comes or another is He? expect we |
[3]And said to him, Art thou He that cometh, or another are we to expect? |
[4]Answered Ieshu and He said to them go relate to Yokhanan those things that hear you and see |
[4]Jeshu answered and said to them, Go, recount to Juchanon these things which you hear and see; |
[5]The blind see and the lame walk and lepers are purified and the deaf are hearing and the dead are rising and the poor are given good news |
[5][That] the blind see, the lame are walking, the lepers are made clean, the deaf hear, the dead arise, and the poor are evangelized; |
[6]And blessed is he who not will be stumbled by Me |
[6]And blessed is he who shall not be offended with me. |
[7]When but they departed began Ieshu to say to the crowds about Yokhanan what? did you go out to the wilderness to see a reed that by the wind is being shaken |
[7]But when they were gone, Jeshu began to speak to the assembly concerning Juchanon: What went you forth into the waste to see? a reed that by the wind was shaken? |
[8]And if not what? did you go out to see a man who a long robe soft wears? behold those who soft things wear in the house of a king are |
[8]And if not, what went you forth to see? a man clothed in soft vestments? Behold, they who are softly clothed are in the house of kings. |
[9]Otherwise what? did you go out to see a prophet? yes say I to you and more than a prophet |
[9]And if not, what went you forth to see? a prophet? I tell you, Yes; and more than a prophet. |
[10]This is for he about whom it is written behold I sending am My messenger before your presence that he may prepare the road before You |
[10]For this is he concerning whom it is written, Behold, I send my angel before thy face, to prepare the way before thee. |
[11]Amen I say to you that not has arisen among them born of a woman one greater than Yokhanan The Baptizer the little one but in the kingdom of Heaven greater is than he |
[11]Amen I say to you, there hath not arisen among them born of women [one] who [is] greater than Juchanon the Baptizer: yet, the least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he. |
[12]From the days of Yokhanan but The Baptizer and until this hour the Kingdom of Heaven by force is led and the violent are seizing it |
[12]But from the days of Juchanon the Baptizer until now, the kingdom of the heavens by violence is taken, and the violent ones seize it. |
[13]They prophesied all of them for The Prophets and The Torah until Yokhanan |
[13]For all the prophets and the law prophesiedⓘ until Juchanon; |
[14]And if willing you are accept that he is Elijah who was going to come |
[14]And if you are willing, receive, that he is Elia who was to come. |
[15]Whoever that is to him an ear that will hear let him hear |
[15]Whoever hath ears to hear, he shall hear. |
[16]To what? but shall I compare generation this it is like children sitting in the street and calling their playmates |
[16]BUT to what shall I compare this generation? It is like children who sit in the public place, and cry to their companions, |
[17]And saying we sang to you and not you danced and we cried to you and not you were sad |
[17]And say, We have sung to you, and you have not danced; we have wailed unto you, and you have not mourned. |
[18]Came for Yokhanan who nothing ate and nothing drank and they were saying a demon is in him |
[18]For Juchanon came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, He hath a devil. |
[19]Came The Son of Man eating and drinking and they were saying behold a man a glutton and drinker of wine and friend of tax collectors and of sinners and is justified wisdom by its works |
[19]The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, See a man a devourer, a wine-drinker, a friend of tribute-takers and of sinners. But justified is wisdom by her servants. |
[20]Then began Ieshu to reproach cities those where had happened in them His mighty works many and not they repented |
[20]Then began Jeshu to reproach those cities in which were done many of his miracles, and which did not repent, |
[21]And said He woe to you Korazin woe to you Bethsaida for if in Tsur and in Tsidon had happened powerful works those that have happened in you doubtless but in sackcloth and in ashes they would have repented |
[21]Saying, Woe to thee, Korazin! woe to thee, Bethtsaida! for if in Tsur and in Tsaidon those miracles had been done which have been performed in you, they would a while ago in sackcloth and ashes have repented. |
[22]Yet say I to you that for Tsur and for Tsidon it will be tranquil in the day of judgment rather than for you |
[22]But I say to you, that for Tsur and Tsaidon it shall be more tolerableⓘ in the day of judgment than for you. |
[23]And you Kapernakhum which unto Heaven you were exalted unto Sheol you will descend for if in Sadom had been done powerful works those that were done in you remained it would have until today |
[23]And thou, Kaphernachum, who unto heaven art exalted, unto Shiul shalt be brought down; for if in Sadum had been done those miracles which have been done in thee, it would have stood until this day. |
[24]But I say to you that for the land of Sadom it will be tranquil in the day of judgment rather than for you |
[24]But I tell you that for the land of Sadum it shall be more tolerableⓘ in the day of judgment than for thee. |
[25]At that time answered Ieshu and said thank I you My Father the Lord of Heaven and of the earth that You have hidden these things from the wise and the intelligent and You have revealed them to infants |
[25]IN that time Jeshu answered and said, I praise thee, my Father, the Lord of the heavens and of the earth, that thou hast concealed these [things] from the wise and prudent, [ones] but hast revealed them unto little children. |
[26]Yes My Father for thus it was desireable before You |
[26]Yes, my Father, for thus was it pleasing before thee! |
[27]Every thing has been given up to Me by My Father and no man knows The Son except only The Father also not The Father a man knows except only The Son and he to whom wants The Son to reveal Him |
[27]All things are delivered to me from my Father; and no man knoweth the Son but the Father; also the Father no man knoweth, except the Son, and he [to] whom the Son pleaseth to reveal [him]. |
[28]Come unto Me all of you who labor and are forced to bear burdens and I shall give you rest |
[28]Come unto me, all you [who] are wearied and bearing burdens, and I will give you rest. |
[29]Take My yoke on you and learn from Me for peaceful I and meek am in My heart and will find you rest for your souls |
[29]Bear my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am peaceful and lowly in my heart, and you shall find repose for your souls. |
[30]My yoke for pleasant is and My burden light is |
[30]For my yoke is kindly, and my burden is light. |
