| [1]WHEN Jesus had finished all these sayings, he said to his disciples, |
[1]והוא דכד שׁלמ ישׁוע כלהינ מלא הלינ אמר לתלמידוהי |
| [2]You know that after two days will be the passover, and the Son of man will be betrayed to be crucified. |
[2]ידעינ אנתונ דבתר תרינ יומינ הוא פצחא וברה דאנשׁא משׁתלמ דנזדקפ |
| [3]Then the high priests and the scribes and the elders of the people assembled in the court yard of the high priest, who is called Caiaphas. |
[3]הידינ אתכנשׁו רבי כהנא וספרא וקשׁישׁא דעמא לדרתה דרב כהנא דמתקרא קיפא |
| [4]And they took counsel concerning Jesus, to arrest him by a snare and kill him. |
[4]ואתמלכו על ישׁוע דבנכלא נאחדוניהי ונקטלוניהי |
| [5]And they said, Not on the feast day, so as not to cause a riot among the people. |
[5]ואמרינ הוו לא בעדעדא דלא נהוא שׁגושׁיא בעמא |
| [6]And when Jesus was at Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper, |
[6]וכד הוא ישׁוע בבית-עניא בביתה דשׁמעונ גרבא |
| [7]A woman came up to him with an alabaster vessel of precious perfume, and she poured it upon the head of Jesus, while he was reclining. |
[7]קרבת לה אנתתא דאית עליה שׁטיפתא דמשׁחא דבסמא סגי דמיא ואשׁפעתה על רשׁה דישׁוע כד סמיכ |
| [8]When his disciples saw it, they were dis- pleased, and said, Why is this loss? |
[8]חזו דינ תלמידוהי ואתבאשׁ להונ ואמרו למנא אבדנא הנא |
| [9]For it could have been sold for a great deal, and given to the poor. |
[9]משׁכח הוא גיר דנזדבנ הנא בסגי ונתיהב למסכנא |
| [10]But Jesus understood it and said to them, Why are you troubling the woman? She has done a good work to me. |
[10]ישׁוע דינ ידע ואמר להונ מנא מלאינ אנתונ לה לאנתתא עבדא שׁפירא עבדת לותי |
| [11]For you always have the poor with you, but you will not have me always. |
[11]בכלזבנ גיר מסכנא אית לכונ עמכונ לי דינ לא בכלזבנ אית לכונ |
| [12]But this one who poured the perfume on my body, did it as for my burial. |
[12]הדא דינ דארמית בסמא הנא על גושׁמי איכ דלמקברני עבדת |
| [13]And truly I say to you, Wherever this my gospel is preached throughout the world, what she has done will also be told as a memorial to her. |
[13]ואמינ אמר אנא לכונ דאיכא דתתכרז סברתי הדא בכלה עלמא נתמלל אפ מדמ דעבדת הדא לדוכרנה |
| [14]Then one of the twelve, called Judas of Iscariot, went to the high priests; |
[14]הידינ אזל חד מנ תרעסר דמתקרא יהודא סכריוטא לות רבי כהנא |
| [15]And he said to them, What are you willing to give me, and I will deliver him to you? And they promised him thirty pieces of silver. |
[15]ואמר להונ מנא צבינ אנתונ למתל לי ואנא משׁלמ אנא לה לכונ הנונ דינ אקימו לה תלתינ דכספא |
| [16]And from that time he sought an opportunity to betray him. |
[16]ומנ הידינ בעא הוא לה פלעא דנשׁלמיוהי |
| [17]On the first day of unleavened bread, the disciples came up to Jesus and said to him, Where do you wish that we may prepare the passover for you to eat? |
[17]ביומא דינ קדמיא דפטירא קרבו תלמידא לות ישׁוע ואמרו לה איכא צבא אנת דנטיב לכ דתלעס פצחא |
| [18]And he said to them, Go into the city to a certain man, and say to him, Our Master says, My time has come, I will observe the passover with my disciples at your house. |
[18]הו דינ אמר להונ זלו למדינתא לות פלנ ואמרו לה רבנ אמר זבני מטא לה לותכ עבד אנא פצחא עמ תלמידי |
| [19]And his disciples did as Jesus had commanded them; and they prepared the passover. |
[19]ותלמידוהי עבדו איכנא דפקד להונ ישׁוע וטיבו פצחא |
| [20]And when it was evening, he was reclining with his twelve disciples. |
[20]וכד הוא רמשׁא סמיכ הוא עמ תרעסר תלמידוהי |
| [21]And while they were eating he said, Truly I say to you, that one of you will betray me. |
[21]וכד לעסינ אמר אמינ אמר אנא לכונ דחד מנכונ משׁלמ לי |
| [22]And they felt very sad, and began to say to him one by one, Why, is it I, my Lord? |
[22]וכרית להונ טב ושׁריו למאמר לה חד חד מנהונ למא אנא מרי |
| [23]And he answered and said, He who dips his hand with me in the dish, he will betray me. |
[23]הו דינ ענא ואמר מנ דצבע אידה עמי בלגתא הו נשׁלמני |
| [24]The Son of man is going through, just as it is written concerning him; but woe to the man by whose hand the Son of man is betrayed! it would have been far better for that man never to have been born. |
[24]וברה דאנשׁא אזל איכנא דכתיב עלוהי וי לה דינ לגברא הו דבאידה ברה דאנשׁא משׁתלמ פקח הוא לה לגברא הו אלו לא אתילד |
| [25]Then Judas the traitor answered and said, Master, perhaps it is I? Jesus said to him, You say that. |
[25]ענא יהודא משׁלמנא ואמר דלמא אנא הו רבי אמר לה ישׁוע אנת אמרת |
| [26]While they were eating, Jesus took bread and blessed it, and he broke it, and gave it to his disciples, and he said, Take, eat; this is my body. |
[26]כד דינ לעסינ שׁקל ישׁוע לחמא וברכ וקצא ויהב לתלמידוהי ואמר סבו אכולו הנו פגרי |
| [27]Then he took the cup and gave thanks, and gave it to them and said, Take, drink of it, all of you. |
[27]ושׁקל כסא ואודי ויהב להונ ואמר סבו אשׁתו מנה כלכונ |
| [28]This is my blood of the new covenant which is shed for many for the remission of sins. |
[28]הנו דמי דדיתקא חדתא דחלפ סגיאא מתאשׁד לשׁובקנא דחטהא |
| [29]But I say to you, from now on I shall not drink from this fruit of the vine, until the day when I drink it anew with you in the kingdom of God. |
[29]אמר אנא לכונ דינ דלא אשׁתא מנ השׁא מנ הנא ילדא דגפתא עדמא ליומא דבה אשׁתיוהי עמכונ חדתא במלכותה דאבי |
| [30]And they offered praise, and went out to the Mount of Olives. |
[30]ושׁבחו ונפקו לטור זיתא |
| [31]Then Jesus said to them, All of you will deny me this night; for it is written, I will smite the shepherd, and the sheep of his flock will be scattered. |
[31]הידינ אמר להונ ישׁוע אנתונ כלכונ תתכשׁלונ בי בהנא לליא כתיב גיר דאמחא לרעיא ונתבדרונ ערבא דענה |
| [32]But after I am risen, I will be in Galilee before you. |
[32]מנ בתר דקאמ אנא דינ קדמ אנא לכונ לגלילא |
| [33]Peter answered and said to him, Even if every man should deny you, I will never deny you. |
[33]ענא כאפא ואמר לה אפנ כלנשׁ נתכשׁל בכ אנא מתומ לא אתכשׁל בכ |
| [34]Jesus said to him, Truly I say to you, that in this very night, before the cock crows, you will deny me three times. |
[34]אמר לה ישׁוע אמינ אמר אנא לכ דבהנא לליא קדמ דנקרא תרנגלא תלת זבנינ תכפור בי |
| [35]Peter said to him, Even if I must die with you, I will never deny you. All the disciples said likewise. |
[35]אמר לה כאפא אנ נהוא לי לממת עמכ לא אכפור בכ והכות אפ כלהונ תלמידא אמרו |
| [36]Then Jesus came with them to a place which is called Gethsemane, and he said to his disciples, Sit down here, while I go to pray. |
[36]הידינ אתא עמהונ ישׁוע לדוכתא דמתקריא גדסמנ ואמר לתלמידוהי תבו הרכא עד אזל אצלא |
| [37]And he took Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and he began to be sorrowful and oppressed. |
[37]ודבר לכאפא ולתריהונ בני זבדי ושׁרי למתכמרו ולמתעקו |
| [38]He said to them, My soul is sorrowful even to death; wait for me here, and watch with me. |
[38]ואמר להונ כריא הי לה לנפשׁי עדמא למותא קוו לי הרכא ושׁהרו עמי |
| [39]And he went a little further and fell on his face, and prayed saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me; but let it be, not as I will, but as you. |
[39]ופרק קליל ונפל על אפוהי ומצלא הוא ואמר אבי אנ משׁכחא נעברני כסא הנא ברמ לא איכ דאנא צבא אנא אלא איכ דאנת |
| [40]Then he came to his disciples and found them sleeping, and he said to Peter, So, you were not able to watch with me even for one hour? |
[40]ואתא לות תלמידוהי ואשׁכח אנונ כד דמכינ ואמר לכאפא הכנא לא אשׁכחתונ חדא שׁעא דתשׁהרונ עמי |
| [41]Awake and pray, that you may not enter into temptation; the spirit indeed is ready, but the body is weak. |
[41]אתתעירו וצלו דלא תעלונ לנסיונא רוחא מטיבא פגרא דינ כריה |
| [42]He went away again the second time and prayed and said, O my Father, if this cup cannot pass, and if I have to drink it, let it be according to your will. |
[42]תוב אזל דתרתינ זבנינ צלי ואמר אבי אנ לא משׁכח הנא כסא דנעבר אלא אנ אשׁתיתה נהוא צבינכ |
| [43]He came again and found them sleeping, for their eyes were heavy. |
[43]ואתא תוב אשׁכח אנונ כד דמכינ עיניהונ גיר יקירנ הוי |
| [44]And he left them and went away again and prayed the third time, and he said the same word. |
[44]ושׁבק אנונ ואזל תוב צלי דתלת זבנינ ולה למלתא אמר |
| [45]Then he came to his disciples and said to them, Sleep from now on and get your rest; behold, the hour has come, and the Son of man will be delivered into the hands of sinners. |
[45]הידינ אתא לות תלמידוהי ואמר להונ דמכו מכיל ואתתניחו הא מטת שׁעתא וברה דאנשׁא משׁתלמ באידיהונ דחטיא |
| [46]Arise, let us go; behold, he who is to deliver me has arrived. |
[46]קומו נאזל הא מטא הו דמשׁלמ לי |
| [47]While he was speaking, behold, Judas the traitor, one of the twelve, came and with him a large crowd with swords and staves, from the high priests and the elders of the people. |
[47]ועד הו ממלל הא יהודא משׁלמנא חד מנ תרעסרתא אתא וכנשׁא עמה סגיאא עמ ספסרא וחוטרא מנ לות רבי כהנא וקשׁישׁא דעמא |
| [48]Now Judas the traitor had given them a sign, saying, He whom I kiss, it is he, arrest him. |
[48]ויהב הוא להונ אתא יהודא משׁלמנא ואמר להו דנשׁק אנא הויו לה אחודו |
| [49]And immediately he came up to Jesus and said, Peace, Master; and he kissed him. |
[49]ומחדא קרב לות ישׁוע ואמר שׁלמ רבי ונשׁקה |
| [50]Jesus said to him, Is it for this that you have come, my friend? Then they came near and laid hands on Jesus, and arrested him. |
[50]הו דינ ישׁוע אמר לה על הי דאתית חברי הידינ אתקרבו וארמיו אידיהונ על ישׁוע ואחדוהי |
| [51]And behold, one of those who were with Jesus stretched out his hand and drew a sword, and struck it at the servant of the high priest, and cut off his ear. |
[51]והא חד מנ הנונ דעמ ישׁוע אושׁט אידה ושׁמט ספסרא ומחיהי לעבדה דרב כהנא ושׁקלה אדנה |
| [52]Then Jesus said to him, Return the sword to its place; for all who take swords will die by swords. |
[52]הידינ אמר לה ישׁוע אהפכ ספסרא לדוכתה כלהונ גיר הנונ דנסבו סיפא בסיפא נמותונ |
| [53]Or do you think that I cannot ask of my Father, and he will now raise up for me more than twelve legions of angels? |
[53]או סבר אנת דלא משׁכח אנא דאבעא מנ אבי ונקימ לי השׁא יתיר מנ תרתעסרא לגיונינ דמלאכא |
| [54]How then could the scriptures be fulfilled, that it must be so? |
[54]איכנא הכיל נתמלונ כתבא דהכנא ולא דנהוא |
| [55]At that very hour Jesus said to the people, Have you come out with swords and staves to arrest me like a bandit? I sat with you every day, teaching in the temple, and you did not arrest me. |
[55]בהי שׁעתא אמר ישׁוע לכנשׁא איכ דעל גיסא נפקתונ בספסרא ובחוטרא דתאחדונני כליומ לותכונ בהיכלא יתב הוית ומלפ ולא אחדתונני |
| [56]But this has happened so that the scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled. Then all the disciples left him, and fled. |
[56]הדא דינ דהות דנתמלונ כתבא דנביא הידינ תלמידא כלהונ שׁבקוהי וערקו |
| [57]And those who had arrested Jesus took him to Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and the elders had assembled. |
[57]והנונ דאחדוהי לישׁוע אובלוהי לות קיפא רב כהנא איכא דספרא וקשׁישׁא כנישׁינ הוו |
| [58]But Simon Peter followed him afar off, up to the courtyard of the high priest, and he went inside and sat with the soldiers, to see the end. |
[58]שׁמעונ דינ כאפא אזל הוא בתרה מנ רוחקא עדמא לדרתה דרב כהנא ועל יתב לגו עמ דחשׁא דנחזא חרתא |
| [59]Now the high priests and the elders and the whole council were seeking witnesses against Jesus, so that they might put him to death. |
[59]רבי כהנא דינ וקשׁישׁא וכנושׁתא כלה בעינ הוו על ישׁוע סהדא איכ דנמיתוניהי |
| [60]But they could not find any; then there came a great many false witnesses; but at the end two came forward, |
[60]ולא אשׁכחו ואתו סגיאא סהדא דשׁוקרא אחרית דינ קרבו תרינ |
| [61]And said, This man said, I can tear down the temple of God, and build it in three days. |
[61]ואמרינ הנא אמר דמשׁכח אנא דאשׁרא היכלא דאלהא ולתלתא יומינ אבניוהי |
| [62]And the high priest stood up and said to him, You are not answering anything. What is it that these men testify against you? |
[62]וקמ רב כהנא ואמר לה לא מדמ מפנא אנת פתגמא מנא מסהדינ עליכ הלינ |
| [63]But Jesus was silent. Then the high priest answered and said to him, I adjure you by the living God, to tell us if you are the Christ, the Son of God? |
[63]ישׁוע דינ שׁתיק הוא וענא רב כהנא ואמר לה מומא אנא לכ באלהא חיא דתאמר לנ אנ אנת הו משׁיחא ברה דאלהא |
| [64]Jesus said to him, You say that. But I say to you that from henceforth you will see the Son of man sitting at the right hand of the power, and coming upon the clouds of the sky. |
[64]אמר לה ישׁוע אנת אמרת אמרנא לכונ דינ דמנ השׁא תחזוניהי לברה דאנשׁא דיתב מנ ימינא דחילא ואתא על ענני שׁמיא |
| [65]The high priest then rent his clothes and said, Behold, he is blaspheming; why therefore do we need witnesses? behold, you have now heard his blasphemy. |
[65]הידינ רב כהנא צרי מאנוהי ואמר הא גדפ מנא מכיל מתבעינ לנ סהדא הא השׁא שׁמעתונ גודפה |
| [66]What else do you want? They answered and said, He is guilty of death. |
[66]מנא צבינ אנתונ ענו ואמרינ חיב הו מותא |
| [67]Then they spat in his face, and struck him on his head, and others beat him, |
[67]הידינ רקו באפוהי ומקפחינ הוו לה אחרנא דינ מחינ הוו לה |
| [68]Saying, O Christ, prophesy to us; who smote you? |
[68]ואמרינ אתנבא לנ משׁיחא מנו הו דמחכ |
| [69]Now Peter sat outside in the courtyard; and a maidservant came up to him, and said to him, You also were with Jesus the Nazarene. |
[69]כאפא דינ יתב הוא לבר בדרתא וקרבת לותה אמתא חדא ואמרא לה אפ אנת עמ ישׁוע הוית נצריא |
| [70]But he denied it before all of them, and said, I do not understand what you are saying. |
[70]הו דינ כפר קדמ כלהונ ואמר לא ידע אנא מנא אמרא אנתי |
| [71]And as he was going to the porch, another one saw him, and she said to them, This man was also there with Jesus the Nazarene. |
[71]וכד נפק לספא חזתה אחרתא ואמרא להונ דתמנ הוא אפ הנא עמ ישׁוע נצריא |
| [72]Again he denied it with oaths, I do not know the man. |
[72]ותוב כפר במומתא דלא ידע אנא לה לגברא |
| [73]After a while, those who were standing came up, and said to Peter, Truly you also are one of them, for even your speech proves it. |
[73]מנ בתר קליל דינ קרבו הנונ דקימינ ואמרו לכאפא שׁריראית אפ אנת מנהונ אנת אפ ממללכ גיר מודע לכ |
| [74]Then he began to curse and to swear, I do not know the man. At that very hour the cock crowed. |
[74]הידינ שׁרי למחרמו ולמאמא דלא ידענא לה לגברא ובה בשׁעתא קרא תרנגלא |
| [75]And Peter remembered the word of Jesus, which he had said to him, Before the cock crows, you will deny me three times. And he went outside and wept bitterly. |
[75]ואתדכר כאפא מלתא דישׁוע דאמר לה דקדמ דנקרא תרנגלא תלת זבנינ תכפור בי ונפק לבר בכא מריראית |
