[2]Take the sum of all the congregation of the children of Israel, from twenty years old and upward, according to the houses of their lineage, every one that goes forth to battle in Israel. |

[3]And Moses and Eleazar the priest spoke in Araboth of Moab at the Jordan by Jericho, saying, |

| [53]Unto these the landH776 shall be dividedH2505[H8735] for an inheritanceH5159 according to the numberH4557 of namesH8034. |
[53]To these the land shall be divided, so that they may inherit according to the number of the names. |
| [54]To manyH7227 thou shalt give the moreH7235[H8686] inheritanceH5159, and to fewH4592 thou shalt give the lessH4591[H8686] inheritanceH5159: to every oneH376 shall his inheritanceH5159 be givenH5414[H8714] accordingH6310 to those that were numberedH6485 of himH8803. |
[54]To the greater number thou shalt give the greater inheritance, and to the less number thou shalt give the less inheritance: to each one, as they have been numbered, shall their inheritance be given. |

| [59]And the nameH8034 of Amram'sH6019 wifeH802 was JochebedH3115, the daughterH1323 of LeviH3878, whom her mother bareH3205[H8804] to LeviH3878 in EgyptH4714: and she bareH3205[H8799] unto AmramH6019 AaronH175 and MosesH4872, and MiriamH4813 their sisterH269. |
[59]And the name of his wife was Jochabed, daughter of Levi, who bore these to Levi in Egypt, and she bore to Amram, Aaron and Moses, and Mariam their sister. |
| [60]And unto AaronH175 was bornH3205[H8735] NadabH5070, and AbihuH30, EleazarH499, and IthamarH385. |
[60]And to Aaron were born both Nadab and Abiud, and Eleazar, and Ithamar. |
| [61]And NadabH5070 and AbihuH30 diedH4191[H8799], when they offeredH7126[H8687] strangeH2114[H8801] fireH784 beforeH6440 the LORDH3068. |
[61]And Nadab and Abiud died when they offered strange fire before the Lord in the wilderness of Sina. |
| [62]And those that were numberedH6485[H8803] of them were twentyH6242 and threeH7969 thousandH505, all malesH2145 from a monthH2320 oldH1121 and upwardH4605: for they were not numberedH6485[H8719] amongH8432 the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478, because there was no inheritanceH5159 givenH5414[H8738] them amongH8432 the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478. |
[62]And there were according to their numbering, twenty-three thousand, every male from a month old and upward; for they were not numbered among the children of Israel, because they have no inheritance in the midst of the children of Israel. |
| [63]These are they that were numberedH6485[H8803] by MosesH4872 and EleazarH499 the priestH3548, who numberedH6485[H8804] the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478 in the plainsH6160 of MoabH4124 by JordanH3383 near JerichoH3405. |

[64]And among these there was not a man numbered by Moses and Aaron, whom, even the children of Israel, they numbered in the wilderness of Sinai. |

[65]For the Lord said to them, They shall surely die in the wilderness; and there was not left even one of them, except Chaleb the son of Jephonne, and Joshua the son of Naue. |
