[1]Then came the daughters of Zelophehad, the son of Hepher, the son of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, of the family of Manasseh, the son of Joseph (and the names of his daughters were these, Mahlah, Noah and Hoglah, and Milcah, and Tirzah) |
| [2]And they stoodH5975[H8799] beforeH6440 MosesH4872, and beforeH6440 EleazarH499 the priestH3548, and beforeH6440 the princesH5387 and all the congregationH5712, by the doorH6607 of the tabernacleH168 of the congregationH4150, sayingH559,[H8800] |
[2]And stood before Moses, and before Eleazar the priest, and before the princes, and all the assembly, at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, saying, |
| [3]Our fatherH1 diedH4191[H8804] in the wildernessH4057, and he was not inH8432 the companyH5712 of them that gathered themselves togetherH3259[H8737] against the LORDH3068 in the companyH5712 of KorahH7141; but diedH4191[H8804] in his own sinH2399, and had no sonsH1121. |
[3]Our father died in the wilderness, and he was not among the assembly of them that were assembled against the Lord in the company of Korah, but died in his sin, and had no sons. |
| [4]Why should the nameH8034 of our fatherH1 be done awayH1639[H8735] from amongH8432 his familyH4940, because he hath no sonH1121? GiveH5414[H8798] unto us therefore a possessionH272 amongH8432 the brethrenH251 of our fatherH1. |
[4]Wherefore should the name of our father be taken away from among his family, because he hath no son? Give us a possession among the brethren of our father. |
| [5]And MosesH4872 broughtH7126[H8686] their causeH4941 beforeH6440 the LORDH3068. |
[5]Then Moses brought their cause before the Lord. |
| [6]And the LORDH3068 spakeH559[H8799] unto MosesH4872, sayingH559,[H8800] |
[6]And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying, |
| [7]The daughtersH1323 of ZelophehadH6765 speakH1696[H8802] rightH3651: thou shalt surelyH5414[H8800] giveH5414[H8799] them a possessionH272 of an inheritanceH5159 amongH8432 their father'sH1 brethrenH251; and thou shalt cause the inheritanceH5159 of their fatherH1 to passH5674 unto themH8689. |
[7]The daughters of Zelophehad speak right: thou shalt give them a possession to inherit among their father's brethren, and shalt turn the inheritance of their father unto them. |
| [8]And thou shalt speakH1696[H8762] unto the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478, sayingH559[H8800], If a manH376 dieH4191[H8799], and have no sonH1121, then ye shall cause his inheritanceH5159 to passH5674[H8689] unto his daughterH1323. |
[8]Also thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel, saying, If a man die and have no son, then ye shall turn his inheritance unto his daughter. |
| [9]And if he have no daughterH1323, then ye shall giveH5414[H8804] his inheritanceH5159 unto his brethrenH251. |
[9]And if he have no daughter, ye shall give his inheritance unto his brethren. |
| [10]And if he have no brethrenH251, then ye shall giveH5414[H8804] his inheritanceH5159 unto his father'sH1 brethrenH251. |
[10]And if he have no brethren, ye shall give his inheritance unto his father's brethren. |
| [11]And if his fatherH1 have no brethrenH251, then ye shall giveH5414[H8804] his inheritanceH5159 unto his kinsmanH7607 that is nextH7138 to him of his familyH4940, and he shall possessH3423[H8804] it: and it shall be unto the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478 a statuteH2708 of judgmentH4941, as the LORDH3068 commandedH6680[H8765] MosesH4872. |
[11]And if his father have no brethren, ye shall give his inheritance unto his next kinsman of his family, and he shall possess it: and this shall be unto the children of Israel a law of judgment, as the Lord hath commanded Moses. |
| [12]And the LORDH3068 saidH559[H8799] unto MosesH4872, Get thee upH5927[H8798] into this mountH2022 AbarimH5682, and seeH7200[H8798] the landH776 which I have givenH5414[H8804] unto the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478. |
[12]Again the Lord said unto Moses, Go up into this mount of Abarim, and behold the land which I have given unto the children of Israel. |
| [13]And when thou hast seenH7200[H8804] it, thou also shalt be gatheredH622[H8738] unto thy peopleH5971, as AaronH175 thy brotherH251 was gatheredH622.[H8738] |
[13]And when thou hast seen it, thou shalt be gathered unto thy people also, as Aaron thy brother was gathered. |
| [14]For ye rebelledH4784[H8804] against my commandmentH6310 in the desertH4057 of ZinH6790, in the strifeH4808 of the congregationH5712, to sanctifyH6942[H8687] me at the waterH4325 before their eyesH5869: that is the waterH4325 of MeribahH4809 in KadeshH6946 in the wildernessH4057 of ZinH6790. |
[14]For ye were disobedient unto my word in the desert of Zin, in the strife of the assembly, to sanctify me in the waters before their eyes. That is the water of Meribah in Kadesh in the wilderness of Zin. |
| [15]And MosesH4872 spakeH1696[H8762] unto the LORDH3068, sayingH559,[H8800] |
[15]Then Moses spake unto the Lord, saying, |
| [16]Let the LORDH3068, the GodH430 of the spiritsH7307 of all fleshH1320, setH6485[H8799] a manH376 over the congregationH5712, |
[16]Let the Lord God of the spirits of all flesh appoint a man over the congregation, |
| [17]Which may go outH3318[H8799] beforeH6440 them, and which may go inH935[H8799] beforeH6440 them, and which may lead them outH3318[H8686], and which may bring them inH935[H8686]; that the congregationH5712 of the LORDH3068 be not as sheepH6629 which have no shepherdH7462.[H8802] |
[17]Who may go out and in before them, and lead them out and in, that the congregation of the Lord be not as sheep, which have not a shepherd. |
| [18]And the LORDH3068 saidH559[H8799] unto MosesH4872, TakeH3947[H8798] thee JoshuaH3091 the sonH1121 of NunH5126, a manH376 in whom is the spiritH7307, and layH5564[H8804] thine hand upon himH3027; |
[18]And the Lord said unto Moses, Take thee Joshua the son of Nun, in whom is the spirit, and put thine hands upon him, |
| [19]And setH5975[H8689] him beforeH6440 EleazarH499 the priestH3548, and beforeH6440 all the congregationH5712; and give him a chargeH6680[H8765] in their sightH5869. |
[19]And set him before Eleazar the priest, and before all the congregation, and give him a charge in their sight. |
| [20]And thou shalt putH5414[H8804] some of thine honourH1935 upon him, that all the congregationH5712 of the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478 may be obedientH8085.[H8799] |
[20]And give him of thy glory, that all the congregation of the children of Israel may obey. |
| [21]And he shall standH5975[H8799] beforeH6440 EleazarH499 the priestH3548, who shall askH7592[H8804] counsel for him after the judgmentH4941 of UrimH224 beforeH6440 the LORDH3068: at his wordH6310 shall they go outH3318[H8799], and at his wordH6310 they shall come inH935[H8799], both he, and all the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478 with him, even all the congregationH5712. |
[21]And he shall stand before Eleazar the priest, who shall ask counsel for him by the judgment of Urim before the Lord: at his word they shall go out, and at his word they shall come in, both he, and all the children of Israel with him and all the Congregation. |
| [22]And MosesH4872 didH6213[H8799] as the LORDH3068 commandedH6680[H8765] him: and he tookH3947[H8799] JoshuaH3091, and setH5975[H8686] him beforeH6440 EleazarH499 the priestH3548, and beforeH6440 all the congregationH5712: |
[22]So Moses did as the Lord had commanded him, and he took Joshua, and set him before Eleazar the priest, and before all the congregation. |
| [23]And he laidH5564[H8799] his handsH3027 upon him, and gave him a chargeH6680[H8762], as the LORDH3068 commandedH1696[H8765] by the handH3027 of MosesH4872. |
[23]Then he put his hands upon him, and gave him a charge, as the Lord had spoken by the hand of Moses. |
