[1]If [there be] therefore any consolation in Christe, yf any comfort of loue, if any felowship of ye spirite, yf any compassion and mercie |
[1]IF, therefore, you have consolation in the Meshiha, and if there be comfort in love,ⓘ and if communion of the Spirit, and if compassions and mercies, |
[2]Fulfyl ye my ioy, that ye be lyke mynded, hauyng the same loue, being of one accorde, of one mynde |
[2]Complete my gladness by having one sentiment and one love, and one soul and one mind. |
[3]Let nothyng [be done] through stryfe or vayne glorie, but in mekenesse of mynde euery man esteeme one ye other better then hym selfe |
[3]And do nothing in contention or vainglorying, but in meekness of mind let a man consider his neighbour as better than himself. |
[4]Loke not euery man on his owne thynges, but euery man also on the thynges of others |
[4]And let no one care for himself [only], but every one for his neighbour also. |
[5]Let ye same mynde be in you, which was in Christe Iesus |
[5]And feelⓘ this in yourselves, which Jeshu the Meshiha [did] also: |
[6]Who beyng in the fourme of God, thought it not robbery to be equall with God |
[6]Who, when he was in the form of Aloha, considered this not to be robbery, (this, namely,) that he was the co-equal of Aloha: |
[7]But made hym selfe of no reputation, takyng on him the fourme of a seruaut, and made in the lykenesse of men, and founde in figure as a man |
[7]Yet emptied he himself, and took the form of a servant, and was made in the form of men; and in fashion was found as a man, |
[8]He humbled hym selfe, made obedient vnto death, euen the death of the crosse |
[8]And humbled himself, and was obedient unto death, but the death of the cross. |
[9]Wherfore God also hath highly exalted hym, and geuen hym a name which is aboue euery name |
[9]Wherefore also Aloha greatly exalted him, and gave him a name that is more excellent than all names, |
[10]That in the name of Iesus euery knee should bowe, [of thynges] in heauen, and [thynges] in earth, and [thinges] vnder the earth |
[10]That at the name of Jeshu every knee should kneel, of those in heaven, and on earth, and under the earth; |
[11]And that euery tongue should confesse that the Lorde, Iesus Christe [is] to the glorie of God the father |
[11]And that every tongue should confess that Jeshu the Meshiha is the Lord, to the glory of Aloha his Father. |
[12]Wherfore, my dearely beloued, as ye haue alwayes obeyed, not as in my presence only, but nowe much more in my absence, worke out your owne saluation with feare and tremblyng |
[12]WHEREFORE, my beloved, as you have all time obeyed, not while I am near you only, but now that I am far from you, the more with fear and trembling work the work of your salvation; |
[13]For it is God which worketh in you, both to will and to do of good wyll |
[13]For Aloha himself effectuatesⓘ in you also to will, also to do, the thing which you will.ⓘ |
[14]Do all thyng without murmuryng and disputyng |
[14]Do every thing without murmuring and without division; |
[15]That ye may be blamelesse and pure, the sonnes of God, without rebuke in the myddes of a croked and peruerse nation, among who shyne ye as lightes in the worlde |
[15]That you may be perfect and without spot, as the pure children of Aloha, who dwell in a generation depraved and perverse; and be manifest among them as luminaries in the world, |
[16]Holdyng fast the worde of lyfe, to my reioycyng in the day of Christe that I haue not runne in vayne, neither haue laboured in vayne |
[16]To be unto them for a place of salvation, for my exultation in the day of the Meshiha, that I may not have run in vain, nor laboured to no purpose. |
[17]Yea, and though I be offered vp vpo the offeryng and seruice of your fayth, I reioyce, and reioyce with you all |
[17]But, also,ⓘ offered on the sacrifice and service of your faith, I am glad, and rejoice with you all; |
[18]For the same cause also do ye reioyce, and reioyce with me |
[18]So also you be glad and rejoice with me. |
[19]But I trust in the Lorde Iesus, to sende Timotheus shortly vnto you, that I also may be of good comfort, when I knowe your state |
[19]But I hope in our Lord Jeshu to send Timotheos to you soon, that I also may have quietness when I learn concerning you. |
[20]For I haue no man lyke mynded, who wyll naturally care for your state |
[20]For I have no other who is so as my [own] soul, who will diligently take care for yours. |
[21]For all seeke their owne, not the thynges which are Iesus Christes |
[21]For all are seeking what is theirs, and not what is of Jeshu Meshiha. |
[22]Ye knowe the profe of hym, that as a sonne with the father, he hath serued with me in the Gospell |
[22]But the proof of this [evangelist] you know, that as a son with his father, so hath he wrought with me in the gospel. Him, therefore, |
[23]Hym therfore I hope to sende, assoone as I knowe my state |
[23]I hope to send to you speedily, when I shall have seen what [will be done] with me. |
[24]But I trust in the Lorde, that I also my selfe shall come shortly |
[24]And I confide on my Lord, that I also speedily shall come unto you. |
[25]But I supposed it necessarie to sende to you Epaphroditus, my brother and companion in labour, & felowe souldier, but your Apostle, and the minister of my neede |
[25]But now the matter hath pressed me to send to you the brother Epaphroditos, who is a helper and labourer with me, but your messenger and minister to my necessity; |
[26]For he longed after you all, and was full of heauinesse, because that ye had hearde that he had ben sicke |
[26]For he desired to see you all, and was anxious, because he knew that you had heard that he was sick. |
[27]And no doubt he was sicke nye vnto death, but God had mercie on hym, and not on hym only, but on me also, lest I shoulde haue sorowe vpon sorowe |
[27]Yes, he was sick, unto death; but Aloha had mercy upon him; but not upon him only, but upon me also, lest I should have sorrow upon sorrow. |
[28]I sent him therfore the more diligentlie, that when ye see him againe, ye may reioyce, and that I may be the lesse sorowfull |
[28]Urgently, therefore, have I sent him to you, that when you have seen him again you may rejoice, and that I may have a little breathing. |
[29]Receaue hym therfore in the Lorde with all gladnes, & make much of such |
[29]Receive him, then, in the Lord with all joy; and those who are such, hold in estimation: |
[30]Because, for the worke of Christe, he was nye vnto death, not regardyng his lyfe, to fulfyll your lacke of seruice towarde me |
[30]Because for the work of the Meshiha he had come nigh unto death, and was disregardful of his life, that he might accomplish that which you had wanted in the service which concerned me. |
