[1]ܛܵܒ̣ ܗ̄ܘܼ ܡܸܣܟܹ̇ܢܵܐ ܕܲܡܗܲܠܸܟ݂ ܒܬܲܡܝܼܡܘܼܬ̣ܵܐ: ܝܲܬ̇ܝܼܪ ܡ̣ܢ ܥܲܬ̇ܝܼܪܵܐ ܕܲܡܥܲܩ̈ܡܵܢ ܐܘܼܪ̈ܚܵܬܹܗ. [1]Betere is a pore man, that goith in his simplenesse, than a riche man bitynge hise lippis, and vnwijs.
[2]ܡ̇ܢ ܕܠܵܐ ܝܵܕܲܥ ܢܲܦ̮ܫܹܗ: ܠܵܐ ܫܲܦܝܼܪ ܠܹܗ ܘܲܕ݂ܩܲܠܝܼܠ ܒܪܸ̈ܓ̣ܠܵܘܗܝ: ܚܵܛܹ̇ܐ. [2]Where is not kunnyng of the soule, is not good; and he that is hasti, in feet hirtith.
[3]ܫܵܛ̇ܝܘܼܬܹܗ ܕܓܲܒ̣ܪܵܐ ܡܥܲܩܡܵܐ ܐܘܼܪ̈ܚܵܬܹܗ. ܘܥܲܠ ܡܵܪܝܵܐ ܡܸܬ̣ܪܲܥܲܡ ܒܠܸܒܹ̇ܗ. [3]The foli of a man disseyueth hise steppis; and he brenneth in his soule ayens God.
[4]ܩܸܢܝܵܢܵܐ ܡܵܘܣܸܦ ܪ̈ܵܚܡܹܐ ܣܲܓ̇ܝܼ̈ܐܹܐ. ܘܡܸܣܟܹ̇ܢܵܐ ܦܵܪܹܫ ܡ̣ܢ ܪ̈ܵܚܡܵܘܗܝ. [4]Richessis encreessen ful many freendis; forsothe also thei ben departid fro a pore man, whiche he hadde.
[5]ܣܵܗܕܵܐ ܕܲܓܵܠܵܐ ܠܵܐ ܢܸܬ̣ܚܲܣܸܐ. ܘܕܲܡܡܲܠܸܠ ܕܲܓܵܠܘܼܬ̣ܵܐ ܠܵܐ ܢܸܬ̣ܦܲܨܹܐ. [5]A fals witnesse schal not be vnpunyschid; and he that spekith leesingis, schal not ascape.
[6]ܣܲܓ̇ܝܼ̈ܐܹܐ ܕܲܡܫܲܡܫܝܼܢ ܩܕ݂ܵܡ ܪܲܒܵܐ. ܘܠܲܕ݂ܒ̣ܝܼܫܝܼܢ ܝܵܗܹ̇ܒ̣ ܡܵܘ̈ܗܒ̣ܵܬ̣ܵܐ. [6]Many men onouren the persoone of a myyti man; and ben frendis of hym that deelith yiftis.
[7]ܟܠܗܘܿܢ ܐܲܚܵܘ̈ܗܝ ܕܡܸܣܟܹ̇ܢܵܐ ܣܵܢܹ̇ܝܢ ܠܹܗ. ܘܐܵܦ ܪ̈ܵܚܡܵܘܗܝ ܡܸܬ̣ܪܲܚܩܝܼܢ ܡܸܢܹܗ. [7]The britheren of a pore man haten hym; ferthermore and the freendis yeden awei fer fro hym. He that sueth wordis oonli, schal haue no thing;
[8]ܐܲܝܢܵܐ ܕܛܲܪܟܵܢ ܒܡܸܠܵܘ̈ܗܝ ܠܵܐ ܫܲܪܝܼܪ. ܘܲܕ݂ܩܵܢܹ̇ܐ ܚܸܟ݂ܡ̱ܬ̣ܵܐ: ܪܵܚܹ̇ܡ ܢܲܦ̮ܫܹܗ. [8]but he that holdith stabli the mynde, loueth his soule, and the kepere of prudence schal fynde goodis.
[9]ܕܢܵܛܲܪ ܗܲܝܡܵܢܘܼܬ̣ܵܐ: ܡܸܫܟܲܚ ܛܵܒ̣ܬ̣ܵܐ. ܘܣܵܗܕܵܐ ܕܲܓܵܠܵܐ ܠܵܐ ܢܸܬ̣ܚܲܣܸܐ. ܘܕܲܡܡܲܠܸܠ ܕܲܓܵـ̈ـܠܵܬ̣ܵܐ ܢܹܐܒܲܕ݂. [9]A fals witnesse schal not be vnpunyschid; and he that spekith leesyngis, schal perische.
[10]ܠܵܐ ܝܵܐܹ̇ܐ ܠܣܲܟ݂ܠܵܐ ܦܘܼܢܵܩܵܐ: ܘܐܵܦܠܵܐ ܠܥܲܒ̣ܕܵܐ ܕܢܸܫܬܲܠܲܛ ܒܪܵܘ̱ܪ̈ܒ̣ܵܢܹܗ. [10]Delices bicomen not a fool; nether `it bicometh a seruaunt to be lord of princes.
[11]ܣܘܼܟܵܠܹܗ ܕܓܲܒ̣ܪܵܐ ܢܲܓ̇ܝܼܪܘܼܬ̣ ܪܘܼܚܹܗ ܗ̄ܝܼ. ܘܬܸܫܒ̇ܘܿܚܬܹ̇ܗ ܡܲܥܒ̇ܪܵܐ ܥܵܘܼܠܵܐ. [11]The teching of a man is knowun bi pacience; and his glorie is to passe ouere wickid thingis.
[12]ܢܵܗܹ̇ܡ ܐܲܝܟ݂ ܐܲܪܝܵܐ ܪܘܼܓ̣ܙܹܗ ܕܡܲܠܟܵܐ. ܘܐܲܝܟ݂ ܛܲܠܵܐ ܥܲܠ ܥܸܣܒܵܐ ܨܸܒ̣ܝܵܢܹܗ. [12]As the gnasting of a lioun, so and the ire of the king; and as deewe on eerbe, so and the gladnesse of the kyng.
[13]ܒܸܗܬ̇ܬ̣ܵܐ ܗ̄ܘܼ ܠܐܲܒ̣ܵܐ ܒܪܵܐ ܣܲܟ݂ܠܵܐ. ܘܐܲܝܟ݂ ܕܸܠܦܵܐ ܕܢܵܛܹ̇ܦ: ܪܸܢܝܵܗ̇ ܕܐܲܢ̄ܬ̇ܬ̣ܵܐ. [13]The sorewe of the fadir is a fonned sone; and roofes droppynge contynueli is a womman ful of chiding.
[14]ܒܲܝܬܵܐ ܘܩܸܢܝܵܢܵܐ: ܝܘܼܪܬܵܢܵܐ ܗ̄ܘܼ ܕܐܲܒ̣ܵܐ. ܘܡ̣ܢ ܡܵܪܝܵܐ ܗ̄ܘܼ ܡܸܬ̣ܡܲܟ݂ܪܵܐ ܐܲܢ̄ܬ̇ܬ̣ܵܐ ܠܓܲܒ̣ܪܵܐ. [14]Housis and richessis ben youun of fadir and modir; but a prudent wijf is youun propirli of the Lord.
[15]ܢܵܘܡܬ̣ܵܐ ܝܵܗ̄ܒܵܐ ܫܸܢܬ̣ܵܐ. ܘܢܲܦ̮ܫܵܐ ܪܵܡܬ̣ܵܐ ܬܸܟ݂ܦܲܢ. [15]Slouth bringith in sleep; and a negligent soule schal haue hungur.
[16]ܕܢܵܛܲܪ ܦܘܼܩܕܵܢܵܐ ܡܸܙܕܲܗܲܪ ܒܢܲܦ̮ܫܹܗ. ܘܲܕ݂ܫܵܐܲܛ ܐܘܼܪ̈ܚܵܬܹܗ ܢܸܬ̣ܩܛܸܠ. [16]He that kepith the comaundement of God, kepith his soule; but he that chargith not his weie, schal be slayn.
[17]ܕܡܸܬ̣ܠܵܘܸܐ ܠܡܵܪܝܵܐ: ܡܪܲܚܸܡ ܥܲܠ ܡܸܣܟܹ̇ܢܵܐ. ܘܐܲܝܟ݂ ܥܒ̣ܵܕ݂ܵܘ̈ܗܝ ܡܸܬ̣ܦܪܲܥ. [17]He that hath mercy on a pore man, leeneth to the Lord; and he schal yelde his while to hym.
[18]ܪܕ݂ܝܼ ܒܪܵܟ݂: ܡܸܛܠ ܕܐܝܼܬ̣ ܣܲܒ̣ܪܵܐ. ܘܲܠܨܲܥܪܹܗ ܠܵܐ ܬܲܪܡܸܐ ܢܲܦ̮ܫܵܟ݂. [18]Teche thi sone, and dispeire thou not; but sette thou not thi soule to the sleyng of hym.
[19]ܓܲܒ̣ܪܵܐ ܚܸܡܬ̣ܵܢܵܐ ܡܩܲܒܸ̇ܠ ܬܘܼܟܵܐ. ܘܲܟ݂ܡܵܐ ܕܡܲܥܠܹܐ: ܥܲܠ ܛܲܥܢܹܗ ܡܵܘܣܸܦ. [19]Forsothe he that is vnpacient, schal suffre harm; and whanne he hath rauyschid, he schal leie to anothir thing.
[20]ܫܡܲܥ ܡܸܠܟܵܐ: ܘܩܲܒܸ̇ܠ ܡܲܪܕ̇ܘܼܬ̣ܵܐ: ܐܲܝܟ݂ ܕܬܸܬ̣ܚܲܟܲܡ ܒܐܘܼܪ̈ܚܵܬ̣ܵܟ݂. [20]Here thou counsel, and take thou doctryn; that thou be wijs in thi laste thingis.
[21]ܣܲܓ̇ܝܼ̈ܐܵܢ ܡܲܚܫ̈ܒ̣ܵܬ̣ܵܐ ܒܠܸܒܹ̇ܗ ܕܓܲܒ̣ܪܵܐ. ܘܬܲܪܥܝܼܬ̣ܵܐ ܕܡܵܪܝܵܐ ܬܸܬ̣ܩܲܝܲܡ. [21]Many thouytis ben in the herte of a man; but the wille of the Lord schal dwelle.
[22]ܪܸܓ̇ܬܹܗ ܕܒܲܪܢܵܫܵܐ ܛܲܝܒ̇ܘܼܬܹܗ. ܘܛܵܒ̣ ܗ̄ܘܼ ܡܸܣܟܹ̇ܢܵܐ ܡ̣ܢ ܓܲܒ̣ܪܵܐ ܥܲܬ̇ܝܼܪܵܐ ܕܲܡܕܲܓܸ̇ܠ. [22]A nedi man is merciful; and betere is a pore iust man, than a man liere.
[23]ܕܸܚ̱ܠܬܹܗ ܕܡܵܪܝܵܐ ܠܚܲܝܹ̈ܐ. ܘܡ̇ܢ ܕܣܲܒ̣ܥܵܗ̇: ܢܒ̣ܘܼܬ̣: ܘܠܵܐ ܢܸܦܩܘܿܕ݂ ܒܝܼܫܬܵܐ. [23]The drede of the Lord ledith to lijf `of blis; and he `that dredith God schal dwelle in plentee, with outen visityng `of the worste.
[24]ܚܒܸܢܵܢܵܐ ܕܲܡܛܲܫܸܐ ܐܝܼܕ݂ܵܘ̈ܗܝ ܒܥܘܼܒܹ̇ܗ: ܐܵܦܠܵܐ ܠܦܘܼܡܹܗ ܢܩܲܪܸܒ̣ ܐܸܢܹܝܢ. [24]A slow man hidith his hond vndur the armpit; and putteth it not to his mouth.
[25]ܒܝܼܫܵܐ ܡܵܐ ܕܡܸܬ̣ܢܲܓܲܕ݂: ܚܲܟ̇ܝܼܡܵܐ ܡܸܙܕ̇ܗܲܪ. ܘܐܸܢ ܬܲܟܸ̇ܣ ܠܚܲܟ̇ܝܼܡܵܐ: ܡܸܣܬܲܟܲܠ ܝܼܕܲܥܬ̣ܵܐ. [25]Whanne a man ful of pestilence is betun, a fool schal be wisere. If thou blamist a wijs man, he schal vndurstonde techyng.
[26]ܕܒ̣ܵܐܹ̈ܙ ܠܐܲܒ̣ܘܼܗܝ: ܘܲܡܥܝܼܩ ܠܐܸܡܹܗ: ܒܪܵܐ ܗ̄ܘܼ ܡܲܒ̣ܗ̄ܬ̣ܵܢܵܐ ܘܡܲܚ̄ܦܪܵܢܵܐ. [26]He that turmentith the fadir, and fleeth fro the modir, schal be ful of yuel fame, and schal be cursid.
[27]ܦܘܼܫ ܒܹܪܝ: ܘܲܫܡܲܥ ܡܲܪܕ̇ܘܼܬ̣ܵܐ. ܘܠܵܐ ܬܸܛܥܹܐ ܡܹܐܡܪܵܐ ܕܝܼܕܲܥܬ̣ܵܐ. [27]Sone, ceesse thou not to here techyng; and knowe thou the wordis of kunnyng.
[28]ܣܵܗܕܵܐ ܥܵܘܿܠܵܐ ܡܲܥܫܸܢ ܕܝܼܢܵܐ. ܘܦܘܼܡܹܗ ܕܥܵܘܿܠܵܐ ܡܛܲܒܲܥ ܠܹܗ. [28]A wickid witnesse scorneth doom; and the mouth of vnpitouse men deuourith wickidnesse.
[29]ܡܛܲܝܒ̣ܝܼܢ ܟܹܐܒܹ̈ܐ ܠܐܲܝܠܹܝܢ ܕܡܲܥܫܢܝܼܢ ܕܝܼܢܵܐ: ܘܲܡܚܘܿܬ̣ܵܐ ܠܥܲܡܵܐ ܣܲܟ݂ܠܵܐ. [29]Domes ben maad redi to scorneris; and hameris smytynge ben maad redi to the bodies of foolis.
