[[A song of degrees, or Psalm Chapter of Solomon.]]
[1]A Song of Ascents; of Solomon. Except ‏𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇‎ build the house, they labour in vain that build it; except ‏𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇‎ keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain. [1]Except the Lord build the house, they labor in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the keeper watcheth in vain.
[2]It is vain for you that ye rise early, and sit up late, ye that eat the bread of toil; so He giveth unto His beloved in sleep. [2]It is in vain for you to rise early , and to lie down late, and eat the bread of sorrow: but he will surely give rest to his beloved.
[3]Lo, children are a heritage of ‏𐤉𐤇𐤅𐤇‎; the fruit of the womb is a reward. [3]Behold, children are the inheritance of the Lord, and the fruit of the womb his reward.
[4]As arrows in the hand of a mighty man, so are the children of one's youth. [4]As are the arrows in the hand of the strong man: so are the children of youth.
[5]Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them; they shall not be put to shame, when they speak with their enemies in the gate. [5]Blessed is the man, that hath his quiver full of them: for they shall not be ashamed, when they speak with their enemies in the gate.
