[[A Psalm Chapter committed to Asaph.]]
[1]A PsalmH4210 of AsaphH623. O GodH430, the heathenH1471 are comeH935[H8804] into thine inheritanceH5159; thy holyH6944 templeH1964 have they defiledH2930[H8765]; they have laidH7760[H8804] JerusalemH3389 on heapsH5856. [1]O God, the heathen are come into thine inheritance: thine holy temple have they defiled, and made Jerusalem heaps of stones.
[2]The dead bodiesH5038 of thy servantsH5650 have they givenH5414[H8804] to be meatH3978 unto the fowlsH5775 of the heavenH8064, the fleshH1320 of thy saintsH2623 unto the beastsH2416 of the earthH776. [2]The dead bodies of thy servants have they given to be meat unto fouls of the heaven: and the flesh of thy saints unto the beasts of the earth.
[3]Their bloodH1818 have they shedH8210[H8804] like waterH4325 round aboutH5439 JerusalemH3389; and there was none to buryH6912 themH8802. [3]Their blood have they shed like waters round about Jerusalem, and there was none to bury them.
[4]We are become a reproachH2781 to our neighboursH7934, a scornH3933 and derisionH7047 to them that are round about usH5439. [4]We are a reproach to our neighbors, even a scorn and derision unto them that are round about us.
[5]How long, LORDH3068? wilt thou be angryH599[H8799] for everH5331? shall thy jealousyH7068 burnH1197[H8799] like fireH784? [5]Lord, how long wilt thou be angry, forever? Shall thy jealousy burn like fire?
[6]Pour outH8210[H8798] thy wrathH2534 upon the heathenH1471 that have not knownH3045[H8804] thee, and upon the kingdomsH4467 that have not calledH7121[H8804] upon thy nameH8034. [6]Pour out thy wrath upon the heathen that have not known thee, and upon the kingdoms that have not called upon thy name.
[7]For they have devouredH398[H8804] JacobH3290, and laid wasteH8074[H8689] his dwelling placeH5116. [7]For they have devoured Jacob and made his dwelling place desolate.
[8]O rememberH2142[H8799] not against us formerH7223 iniquitiesH5771: let thy tender merciesH7356 speedilyH4118 preventH6923[H8762] us: for we are broughtH1809 veryH3966 lowH1809.[H8804] [8]Remember not against us the former iniquities , but make haste and let thy tender mercies prevent us: for we are in great misery.
[9]HelpH5826[H8798] us, O GodH430 of our salvationH3468, forH1697 the gloryH3519 of thy nameH8034: and deliverH5337[H8685] us, and purge awayH3722[H8761] our sinsH2403, for thy name's sakeH8034. [9]Help us, O God of our salvation, for the glory of thy name, and deliver us, and be merciful unto our sins for thy name's sake.
[10]Wherefore should the heathenH1471 sayH559[H8799], Where is their GodH430? let him be knownH3045[H8735] among the heathenH1471 in our sightH5869 by the revengingH5360 of the bloodH1818 of thy servantsH5650 which is shedH8210.[H8803] [10]Wherefore should the heathen say, Where is their God? Let him be known among the heathen in our sight by the vengeance of the blood of thy servants that is shed.
[11]Let the sighingH603 of the prisonerH615 comeH935[H8799] beforeH6440 thee; according to the greatnessH1433 of thy powerH2220 preserveH3498[H8685] thou those that are appointedH1121 to dieH8546; [11]Let the sighing of the prisoners come before thee: according to thy mighty arm preserve the children of death,
[12]And renderH7725[H8685] unto our neighboursH7934 sevenfoldH7659 into their bosomH2436 their reproachH2781, wherewith they have reproachedH2778[H8765] thee, O LordH136. [12]And render to our neighbors seven fold into their bosom their reproach, wherewith they have reproached thee, O Lord.
[13]So we thy peopleH5971 and sheepH6629 of thy pastureH4830 will give thee thanksH3034[H8686] for everH5769: we will shew forthH5608[H8762] thy praiseH8416 to allH1755 generationsH1755. [13]So we thy people, and sheep of thy pasture shall praise thee forever: and from generation to generation we will set forth thy praise.
