[[To him that excelleth on Gittith.] A Psalm Chapter of David.]
[1]To the chief MusicianH5329[H8764] upon GittithH1665, A PsalmH4210 of DavidH1732. O LORDH3068 our LordH113, how excellentH117 is thy nameH8034 in all the earthH776! who hast setH5414[H8798] thy gloryH1935 above the heavensH8064. [1]O Lord our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the world! Which hast set thy glory above the heavens.
[2]Out of the mouthH6310 of babesH5768 and sucklingsH3243[H8802] hast thou ordainedH3245[H8765] strengthH5797 because of thine enemiesH6887[H8802], that thou mightest stillH7673[H8687] the enemyH341[H8802] and the avengerH5358.[H8693] [2]Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength, because of thine enemies, that thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger.
[3]When I considerH7200[H8799] thy heavensH8064, the workH4639 of thy fingersH676, the moonH3394 and the starsH3556, H3559which thou hast ordainedH8790 [3]When I behold thine heavens , even the works of thy fingers, the moon and the stars which thou hast ordained,
[4]What is manH582, that thou art mindfulH2142[H8799] of him? and the sonH1121 of manH120, that thou visitestH6485 himH8799? [4]What is man, say I, that thou art mindful of him? And the son of man, that thou visitest him?
[5]For thou hast made him a littleH4592 lowerH2637[H8762] than the angelsH430, and hast crownedH5849[H8762] him with gloryH3519 and honourH1926. [5]For thou hast made him a little lower than God, and crowned him with glory and worship.
[6]Thou madest him to have dominionH4910[H8686] over the worksH4639 of thy handsH3027; thou hast putH7896[H8804] all things under his feetH7272: [6]Thou hast made him to have dominion in the works of thine hands. thou hast put all things under his feet:
[7]All sheepH6792 and oxenH504, yea, and the beastsH929 of the fieldH7704; [7]All sheep and oxen: yea, and the beasts of the field:
[8]The fowlH6833 of the airH8064, and the fishH1709 of the seaH3220, and whatsoever passeth throughH5674[H8802] the pathsH734 of the seasH3220. [8]The fowls of the air, and the fish of the sea, and that which passeth through the paths of the seas.
[9]O LORDH3068 our LordH113, how excellentH117 is thy nameH8034 in all the earthH776! [9]O Lord our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the world!
