[1] (87:1b) [for] her foundations are vpon the holy hilles [1]A Psalm or Song for the sons of Korah. His foundation is in the holy mountains.
[2](87:1a) God loueth the gates of Sion more then all the dwellynges of Iacob [2]The LORD loveth the gates of Zion more than all the dwellings of Jacob.
[3](87:2) Uery excellent thinges are spoken of thee: O thou citie of God. Selah [3]Glorious things are spoken of thee, O city of God. Selah.
[4](87:3) I wyll make mention amongst those that knowe me, of Egypt and Babylon: behold also of Palestina and Tyre, with Ethiopia, [and it shalbe sayde] suche a man is borne there [4]I will make mention of Rahab and Babylon to them that know me: behold Philistia, and Tyre, with Cush; this man was born there.
[5](87:4) But of Sion it shalbe reported, that very many be borne in her: and the most highest him selfe shall establishe her [5]And of Zion it shall be said, This and that man was born in her: and the Highest himself shall establish her.
[6](87:5) God wyll number in the register of the people: euery one that is borne there. Selah [6]The LORD shall count, when he writeth up the people, that this man was born there. Selah.
[7](87:6) And the singers aswell as the players of instrumentes: yea al my fountaines are in thee [7]As well the singers as the players on instruments shall be there: all my springs are in thee.
