[1]I am the roseH2261 of SharonH8289, and the lilyH7799 of the valleysH6010. [1]I am the rose of the field, and the lily of the valleys.
[2]As the lilyH7799 among thornsH2336, so is my loveH7474 among the daughtersH1323. [2]Like a lily among the thorns, so is my love among the daughters.
[3]As the apple treeH8598 among the treesH6086 of the woodH3293, so is my belovedH1730 among the sonsH1121. I satH3427[H8804] down under his shadowH6738 with great delightH2530[H8765], and his fruitH6529 was sweetH4966 to my tasteH2441. [3]Like the apple tree among the trees of the forest, so is my well-beloved among the sons of men: under his shadow had I delight, and sat down: and his fruit was sweet unto my mouth.
[4]He broughtH935[H8689] me to the banquetingH3196 houseH1004, and his bannerH1714 over me was loveH160. [4]He brought me into the wine cellar, and love was his banner over me.
[5]StayH5564[H8761] me with flagonsH809, comfortH7502[H8761] me with applesH8598: for I am sickH2470[H8802] of loveH160. [5]Stay me with flagons, and comfort me with apples: for I am sick of love.
[6]His left handH8040 is under my headH7218, and his right handH3225 doth embraceH2263 meH8762. [6]His left hand is under mine head, and his right hand doth embrace me.
[7]I chargeH7650[H8689] you, O ye daughtersH1323 of JerusalemH3389, by the roesH6643, andH176 by the hindsH355 of the fieldH7704, that ye stir not upH5782[H8686], nor awakeH5782[H8787] my loveH160, till he pleaseH2654.[H8799] [7]I charge you, O daughters of Jerusalem, by the roes and by the hinds of the field, that ye stir not up, nor waken my love, until she please.
[8]The voiceH6963 of my belovedH1730! behold, he comethH935[H8802] leapingH1801[H8764] upon the mountainsH2022, skippingH7092[H8764] upon the hillsH1389. [8]It is the voice of my well-beloved: behold, he cometh leaping by the mountains, and skipping by the hills.
[9]My belovedH1730 is likeH1819[H8802] a roeH6643 or a youngH6082 hartH354: behold, he standethH5975[H8802] behindH310 our wallH3796, he looketh forthH7688[H8688] at the windowsH2474, shewingH6692[H8688] himself through the latticeH2762. [9]My well-beloved is like a roe, or a young hart: lo, he standeth behind our wall, looking forth of the windows, showing himself through the grates.
[10]My belovedH1730 spakeH6030[H8804], and saidH559[H8804] unto me, Rise upH6965[H8798], my loveH7474, my fair oneH3303, and come awayH3212.[H8798] [10]My well beloved spake and said unto me, Arise, my love, my fair one, and come thy way.
[11]For, lo, the winterH5638 is pastH5674[H8804], the rainH1653 is overH2498[H8804] H1980and goneH8804 [11]For behold, winter is past: the rain is changed, and is gone away.
[12]The flowersH5339 appearH7200[H8738] on the earthH776; the timeH6256 of the singingH2158 of birds is comeH5060[H8689], and the voiceH6963 of the turtleH8449 is heardH8085[H8738] in our landH776; [12]The flowers appear in the earth: the time of the singing of birds is come, and the voice of the turtle is heard in our land.
[13]The fig treeH8384 putteth forthH2590[H8804] her green figsH6291, and the vinesH1612 with the tender grapeH5563 giveH5414[H8804] a good smellH7381. AriseH6965[H8798], my loveH7474, my fair oneH3303, and come awayH3212.[H8798] [13]The fig tree hath brought forth her young figs: and the vines with their small grapes have cast a savor: arise my love, my fair one, and come away.
[14]O my doveH3123, that art in the cleftsH2288 of the rockH5553, in the secretH5643 places of the stairsH4095, let me seeH7200[H8685] thy countenanceH4758, let me hearH8085[H8685] thy voiceH6963; for sweetH6156 is thy voiceH6963, and thy countenanceH4758 is comelyH5000. [14]My dove, that art in the holes of the rock, in the secret places of the stairs, show me thy sight, let me hear thy voice: for thy voice is sweet, and thy sight comely.
[15]TakeH270[H8798] us the foxesH7776, the littleH6996 foxesH7776, that spoilH2254[H8764] the vinesH3754: for our vinesH3754 have tender grapesH5563. [15]Take us the foxes, the little foxes, which destroy the vines: for our vines have small grapes.
[16]My belovedH1730 is mine, and I am his: he feedethH7462[H8802] among the liliesH7799. [16]My well-beloved is mine, and I am his: he feedeth among the lilies,
[17]Until the dayH3117 breakH6315[H8799], and the shadowsH6752 flee awayH5127[H8804], turnH5437[H8798], my belovedH1730, and be thou likeH1819[H8798] a roeH6643 or a youngH6082 hartH354 upon the mountainsH2022 of BetherH1336. [17]Until the daybreak, and the shadows flee away: return my wellbeloved, and be like a roe, or a young hart upon the mountains of Bether.
