[1]And after this, it fortuned that Dauid smote the Philistines, & subdued them, and toke Geth and the townes that longed therto out of the handes of the Philistines |
[1]AND after these things it came to pass that David smote the Philistines and destroyed them, and took the power from the hand of the Philistines, and took Gath and the small villages that were round about it out of the hand of the Philistines. |
[2]And he smote Moab, and the Moabites became Dauids seruauntes, and payde him tribute |
[2]And he smote Moab; and the Moabites became David's servants and brought tribute. |
[3]And Dauid smote Hadarezer king of Zoba vnto Hanath, as he went to stablishe his dominion by the riuer Euphrates |
[3]Then David slew Hadarezer the king of Nisibin, as he went to establish his dominion by the river Euphrates. |
[4]And Dauid toke from him a thousand charets, and seuen thousande horsemen, and twentie thousande footemen, and lamed all the charet horses, and reserued of them an hundred charets |
[4]And David took from him a thousand chariots and seven thousand horsemen, and David hamstrung all the chariot horses, but reserved of them a hundred chariots. |
[5]And when the Syrians of Damascon came to helpe Hadarezer king of Zoba, Dauid slue of the Syrians twentie and two thousande |
[5]And when the Edomites and the Arameans of Damascus came to help Hadarezer king of Nisibin, David slew of the Edomites twenty-two thousand men. |
[6]And Dauid put souldiers in Syria Damascon, and the Syrians became Dauids seruauntes, and brought him tribute: And the Lord preserued Dauid in all that he went to |
[6]Then David appointed governors in Damascus, and the Arameans became David's servants and brought tribute. Thus the LORD preserved David wheresoever he went. |
[7]And Dauid toke the shieldes of golde that were on the seruauntes of Hadarezer, and brought them to Hierusalem |
[7]And David took the shields of gold that were hanging on the horses of the servants of Hadarezer, and brought them to Jerusalem. |
[8]And from Tebhath, and from Chun, cities of Hadarezar, brought Dauid exceeding much brasse, wherwith Solomon made the brasen lauatorie, the pillers, and the vessels of brasse |
[8]Likewise from Tibhath and from Berothi, cities of Hadarezer, David took very much brass, wherewith Solomon made the bronze sea and the pillars of brass and the oxen of brass and the vessels of brass in abundance |
[9]And when Thou king of Hemath heard how Dauid had beaten al the strength of Hadarezer king of Zoba |
[9]Now Pul, king of Hamath, heard that David had smitten the whole army of Hadarezer, king of Nisibin; |
[10]He sent Hadoram his sone to king Dauid, to make peace with him, & to blesse him, because he had fought against Hadarezer, and beaten him (for Thou had warre with Hadarezer) and [Hadoram brought] all maner of iewels of golde, siluer, and brasse, with him |
[10]And he sent Jehoram his son to David to inquire of his welfare and to congratulate him because he had fought against Hadarezer and killed him (for Hadarezer was a valiant warrior) and Jehoram had with him all manner of vessels of gold and silver and brass. |
[11]And king Dauid dedicated them vnto the Lord, with the siluer and golde that he brought fro all nations, from Edom, fro Moab, from ye children of Ammon, from the Philistines, and from Amelec |
[11]Some of these also King David dedicated to the LORD, together with the silver and the gold that he had captured from all the nations which he had subdued: from the Edomites, from the Moabites, from the children of Ammon, from the Philistines, and from the Amalekites. |
[12]And Abisai the sonne of Zaruia slue of the Edomites in the salt valley eyghteene thousande |
[12]Moreover Abishai the son of Zuriah brother of Joab slew the Edomites in the valley of salt, eighteen thousand men. |
[13]And put souldiers in Edom, and all the Edomites became Dauid seruauntes: Thus the Lorde kept Dauid in all that he toke in hande |
[13]And David appointed governors over the Edomites, and all the Edomites became David's servants. Thus the LORD preserved David wherever he went. |
[14]And Dauid raigned ouer all Israel, and executed iudgement and righteousnesse among all his people |
[14]So David reigned over all Israel and executed justice and righteousness to all the people. |
[15]And Ioab the sonne of Zaruia was ouer the hoast, & Iehosaphat the sonne of Ahilud recorder |
[15]And Joab the son of Zuriah was over all the army; and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was recorder. |
[16]And Zadoc the sonne of Ahitob and Abimelech the sonne of Abiathar were the priestes, and Sausa was scribe |
[16]And Zadok the son of Ahitub and Ahimelek the son of Abiathar were the priests; and Seriah was scribe; |
[17]And Banaiahu the sonne of Iehoiada was ouer the Crethites and the Phelethites: and the sonnes of Dauid were next vnto the king |
[17]And Benaiah the son of Jehoiadah was over the archers and the slingers; and the sons of David were princes of the realm |
