[1]Willing I am but that you will know my brothers our fathers all of them under a cloud were and all of them in the sea passed through |
[1]BUT I would that you know, my brethren, that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all of them in the sea were baptized, |
[2]And all of them by Moses were baptized in the cloud and in the sea |
[2]And all byⓘ Musha were baptized in the cloud and in the sea, |
[3]And all of them one food of The Spirit they ate |
[3]And all of them ate one spiritual food,ⓘ |
[4]And all of them one drink of The Spirit they drank drinking they were for from The Rock of The Spirit Which being was with them Rock but That It was The Messiah |
[4]And all of them drank one spiritual drink;ⓘ for they drank of that spiritual Rockⓘ which went with them,—but that Rock was the Meshiha himself. |
[5]But not was with the multitude of them pleased Alaha they fell for in the wilderness |
[5]But not with many of them was Aloha pleased; for they fell in the desert. |
[6]These things but an example to us being were that not we would be lusting for evil just as those lusted |
[6]But these became an example for us; that we should not desire evils, as they desired; |
[7]Neither we would be servants of idols even as also some of them served as that is written sat the people to eat and to drink and they arose to play games |
[7]Nor also be servers of idols, as some of them served; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and to drink, and rose up to play; |
[8]And neither we should commit fornication as some of them fornicated and they fell in one day twenty and three thousand |
[8]Nor commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell, in one day, twenty and three thousand; |
[9]Neither we should tempt The Messiah as some of them tempted and destroyed them serpents |
[9]Nor tempt the Meshiha, as also [some] of them tempted, and perished by serpents. |
[10]Neither should we complain as some of them complained and were destroyed by the destroyer |
[10]Neither murmur you, as some of them murmured, and perished by the hand of the destroyer. |
[11]These but all that occurred to them for our example were and it was written for admonition our for the ends of the universe upon us have arrived |
[11]For all these which happened to them were unto us an example, and were written for our instruction, upon whom come the ends of the world.ⓘ |
[12]From now on whoever thinks that he stands let him beware lest he fall |
[12]Whoever then thinketh he standeth, let him beware that he fall not. |
[13]Temptation not has met you except of the children of men faithful is but Alaha Who not shall allow you to be tempted more than whatever able you are but shall make for your temptation an exit so that you can endure |
[13]Temptation cometh not [upon] you but what cometh on mankind; but faithful is Aloha, who will not permit you to be tempted more than you are able, but will make to your temptation a departure, that you may be able to endure. |
[14]Because of this my beloved flee from the service of idols |
[14]WHEREFORE, my beloved, flee from the worshipⓘ of idols. |
[15]As to the wise speak I judge you whatever say I |
[15]As to the wise I speak; judge what I say. |
[16]Cup that of thanksgiving that we bless not? has been the partaking the Presence of the blood of The Messiah and interrog. that our breaking of bread not? has been the sharing in the Presence of the Body of The Messiah |
[16]The cup of thanksgiving which we bless, is it not the participation of the blood of the Meshiha? And the bread that we break, is it not the participation of the body of the Meshiha? |
[17]Just as one is bread that thus we all one are body we all for from that which is one bread we are receiving |
[17]As, then, one is that bread, so are we one body: for all we that one bread receive. |
[18]Behold Israel which is in the flesh not? have been those who eat sacrifices were partakers of the altar |
[18]Consider Israel who are in the flesh: are not they who eat of the sacrifices participators of the altar? |
[19]What? therefore do say I that an idol anything is or a sacrifice of an idol anything is No! |
[19]What then do I say? that an idol is any thing, or [that] the sacrifice of an idol is any thing? |
[20]But that thing that sacrifice the pagans to demons it is they sacrifice and not to Alaha not but want I you to be sharers with demons |
[20]No: but that which the Heathens sacrifice, unto demons they sacrifice, and not unto Aloha. But I would not that you be participators with demons! |
[21]Not able you are to drink the cup of our Lord and the cup of demons and not able you are to share in the table of our Lord and in the table of demons |
[21]You cannot drink the cup of our Lord, and the cup of demons; and you cannot participate in the table of our Lord, and in the table of demons. |
[22]Or interrog. to make envious? do we make envy our Lord interrog. are we stronger? than He |
[22]Or, do we provoke the Lord? are we stronger than he? |
[23]Every thing is legal to me but not every thing is advantageous every thing is legal to me but not every thing edifies |
[23]Every thing is lawful for me, but every thing is not expedient; every thing is lawful, but every thing doth not edify. |
[24]Not a man what is of himself should seek but every person also what is his neighbor's |
[24]Let no man seek his own [only], but every man also [the profit] of his neighbour. |
[25]Everything that is sold in the butcher's shop you may eat without inquiry because of conscience |
[25]Whatsoever is sold in the shambles eat, without inquiry on account of conscience: |
[26]The Lord's is for The Earth with its fullness |
[26]For the earth is the Lord's, and its fulness. |
[27]If a man but who a pagan invites you and wish you to go everything that is set before you eat without inquiry because of conscience |
[27]But if a man of the Heathens invite you, and you be willing to go, whatever is set before you eat, without inquiry on account of conscience. |
[28]If a man but shall say to you "This has been sacrificed" it not you shall eat because of that which he said to you and because of conscience |
[28]But, if one tell you, This is of a sacrifice, eat not, for his sake who hath told you, and on account of conscience; |
[29]Conscience but say I not it is yours but of him who told Why? for my liberty is judged from the conscience of others |
[29]But I say, the conscience, not yours, but his who told you. But why is my liberty to be ruled by the conscience of others? |
[30]If I with grace behave I why? blasphemed am I for anything for which I am giving thanks |
[30]But if I use [these things] by grace, why am I calumniated concerning that for which I give thanks? |
[31]If eat you therefore and if drink you and if anything do you everything for the glory of Alaha you shall do |
[31]Whether therefore you eat or drink, or whatsoever you do, do all to the glory of Aloha. |
[32]Without violation be to the Jews and to the Aramaeans and to the church of Alaha |
[32]Give no offence to Jihudoyee, or to Aramoyee, or to the church of Aloha. |
[33]As that also I in every thing everyone please I and not seek I what is my advantage but whatever for the many is advantageous that they may have life |
[33]As also I in every thing please all men, not seeking what is expedient for myself, but what is expedient for the many, that they may be saved. |
