Peshitta NT (Etheridge, 1849)
PesNT(Eth)
[1]Moost dere britheren, nyle ye bileue to ech spirit, but preue ye spiritis, if thei ben of God; for many false prophetis wenten out in to the world. [1]MY beloved, believe not all spirits, but discern the spirits whether they be from Aloha; because many false prophets have gone forth into the world.
[2]In this thing the spirit of God is knowun; ech spirit that knowlechith that Jhesu Crist hath come in fleisch, is of God; [2]By this we know the Spirit of Aloha: Every spirit who confesseth that Jeshu Meshiha hath come in the flesh, is from Aloha.
[3]and ech spirit that fordoith Jhesu, is not of God. And this is antecrist, of whom ye herden, that he cometh; and riyt now he is in the world. [3]And every spirit who confesseth not that Jeshu hath come in the flesh, is not from Aloha: but this is from that false meshiha, of whom you have heard that he cometh, and now is in the world already.
[4]Ye, litle sones, ben of God, and ye han ouercome hym; for he that is in you is more, than he that is in the world. [4]But you of Aloha are the children, and have overcome them; because greater is he who is with you, than he who is in the world.
[5]Thei ben of the world, therfor thei speken of the world, and the world herith hem. [5]And these are of the world, therefore the world heareth them.
[6]We ben of God; he that knowith God, herith vs; he that is not of God, herith not vs. In this thing we knowen the spirit of treuthe, and the spirit of errour. [6]But we are of Aloha; and he who knoweth Aloha heareth us; and he who is not of Aloha heareth us not. In this itself we perceive the Spirit of truth and the spirit of deception.
[7]Moost dere britheren, loue we togidere, for charite is of God; and ech that loueth his brother, is borun of God, and knowith God. [7]My beloved, let us love one another, because love is of Aloha; and every one who loveth from Aloha is born, and knoweth Aloha. For Aloha is Love;
[8]He that loueth not, knowith not God; for God is charite. [8]And every one who loveth not, knoweth not Aloha.
[9]In this thing the charite of God apperide in vs, for God sente hise oon bigetun sone in to the world, that we lyue bi hym. [9]In this was made known the love of Aloha towards us, that Aloha sent his only Son into the world that we might live by him.
[10]In this thing is charite, not as we hadden loued God, but for he firste louede vs, and sente hise sone foryyuenesse for oure synnes. [10]In this is love: it was not that we had loved Aloha, but that Aloha himself loved us, and sent his Son a propitiation for our sins.
[11]Ye moost dere britheren, if God louede vs, we owen to loue ech other. [11]MY beloved, if Aloha so hath loved us, we also are indebted to love one another.
[12]No man say euer God; if we louen togidre, God dwellith in vs, and the charite of hym is perfit in vs. [12]Aloha no man hath seen but if we love one another, Aloha in us abideth, and his love is fulfilled in us.
[13]In this thing we knowen, that we dwellen in hym, and he in vs; for of his spirit he yaf to vs. [13]And by this we know that in him we abide, and he abideth in us, because of his Spirit he hath given us.
[14]And we sayen, and witnessen, that the fadir sente his sone sauyour of the world. [14]And we have seen and we testify that the Father hath sent his Son, the Redeemer of the world.
[15]Who euer knowlechith, that Jhesu is the sone of God, God dwellith in him, and he in God. [15]Whosoever confesseth Jeshu that he is the Son of Aloha, in him Aloha abideth, and he abideth in Aloha.
[16]And we han knowun, and bileuen to the charite, that God hath in vs. God is charite, and he that dwellith in charite, dwellith in God, and God in hym. [16]And we have believed and known the love which Aloha hath toward us; for Aloha is Love. And every one who abideth in love in Aloha abideth.
[17]In this thing is the perfit charite of God with vs, that we haue trist in the dai of dom; for as he is, also we ben in this world. [17]And in this is his love perfected with us, that openness of face we might have in the day of judgment; because that as He was, so also we are in this world.
[18]Drede is not in charite, but perfit charite puttith out drede; for drede hath peyne. But he that dredith, is not perfit in charite. [18]Fear in love is not: but perfect love hath cast out fear, because fear is in terror. He who feareth is not perfect in love.
[19]Therfor loue we God, for he louede vs bifore. [19]We then will love Aloha, because he hath first loved us.
[20]If ony man seith, that `Y loue God, and hatith his brother, he is a liere. For he that loueth not his brothir, which he seeth, hou mai he loue God, whom he seeth not? [20]But if one shall say, I love Aloha, and his brother he hateth, he is a liar. For he who his brother whom he hath seen loveth not, how can he love Aloha himself whom he hath not seen?
[21]And we han this comaundement of God, that he that loueth God, loue also his brothir. [21]And this commandment we have received from him, That every one who loveth Aloha shall love also his brother.
