[1]Then the wordH1697 of the LORDH3068 came to JehuH3058 the sonH1121 of HananiH2607 against BaashaH1201, sayingH559,[H8800] [1]Forsothe the word of the Lord was maad to Hieu, sone of Anany, ayens Baasa, and seide,
[2]Forasmuch as I exaltedH7311[H8689] thee out of the dustH6083, and madeH5414[H8799] thee princeH5057 over my peopleH5971 IsraelH3478; and thou hast walkedH3212[H8799] in the wayH1870 of JeroboamH3379, and hast made my peopleH5971 IsraelH3478 to sinH2398[H8686], to provoke me to angerH3707[H8687] with their sinsH2403; [2]For that that Y reiside thee fro dust, and settide thee duyk on Israel, my puple; sotheli thou yedist in the weie of Jeroboam, and madist my puple Israel to do synne, that thou schuldist terre me to ire, in the synnes of hem; lo!
[3]Behold, I will take awayH1197[H8686] the posterityH310 of BaashaH1201, and the posterityH310 of his houseH1004; and will makeH5414[H8804] thy houseH1004 like the houseH1004 of JeroboamH3379 the sonH1121 of NebatH5028. [3]Y schal kitte awey the hyndrere thingis of Baasa, and the hyndrere thingis of `his hows, and Y schal make thin hows as the hows of Jeroboam, sone of Nabath.
[4]Him that diethH4191[H8801] of BaashaH1201 in the cityH5892 shall the dogsH3611 eatH398[H8799]; and him that diethH4191[H8801] of his in the fieldsH7704 shall the fowlsH5775 of the airH8064 eatH398.[H8799] [4]Doggis schulen ete that man of Baasa, that schal be deed in citee, and briddis of the eyr schulen ete that man of Baasa, that schal die in the feeld.
[5]Now the restH3499 of the actsH1697 of BaashaH1201, and what he didH6213[H8804], and his mightH1369, are they not writtenH3789[H8803] in the bookH5612 of the chroniclesH1697[H3117] of the kingsH4428 of IsraelH3478? [5]Sotheli the residue of wordis of Baasa, and what euer thingis he dide, and hise batels, whether these ben not writun in the book of wordis of daies of the kynges of Israel?
[6]So BaashaH1201 sleptH7901[H8799] with his fathersH1, and was buriedH6912[H8735] in TirzahH8656: and ElahH425 his sonH1121 reignedH4427 in his steadH8799. [6]Therfor Baasa slepte with hise fadris, and he was biried in Thersa; and Hela, his sone, regnede for hym.
[7]And also by the handH3027 of the prophetH5030 JehuH3058 the sonH1121 of HananiH2607 came the wordH1697 of the LORDH3068 against BaashaH1201, and against his houseH1004, even for all the evilH7451 that he didH6213[H8804] in the sightH5869 of the LORDH3068, in provoking him to angerH3707[H8687] with the workH4639 of his handsH3027, in being like the houseH1004 of JeroboamH3379; and because he killedH5221 himH8689. [7]Forsothe whanne the word of the Lord was maad in the hond of Hieu, sone of Anany, ayens Baasa, and ayens his hows, and ayens al yuel which he dide bifor the Lord, to terre hym to ire in the werkis of hise hondis, that he schulde be as the hows of Jeroboam, for this cause he killide hym, that is, Hieu, the prophete, the sone of Anany.
[8]In the twentyH6242[H8141] and sixthH8337 yearH8141 of AsaH609 kingH4428 of JudahH3063 began ElahH425 the sonH1121 of BaashaH1201 to reignH4427[H8804] over IsraelH3478 in TirzahH8656, two yearsH8141. [8]In the sixe and twentithe yeer of Aza, kyng of Juda, Hela, the sone of Baasa, regnyde on Israel, in Thersa, twei yeer.
[9]And his servantH5650 ZimriH2174, captainH8269 of halfH4276 his chariotsH7393, conspiredH7194[H8799] against him, as he was in TirzahH8656, drinkingH8354[H8802] himself drunkH7910 in the houseH1004 of ArzaH777 steward of his houseH1004 in TirzahH8656. [9]And Zamry, `his seruaunt, duyk of the half part of knyytis, rebellide ayens hym; sotheli Hela was in Thersa, and drank, and was drunkun in the hows of Arsa, prefect of Thersa.
[10]And ZimriH2174 went inH935[H8799] and smoteH5221[H8686] him, and killedH4191[H8686] him, in the twentyH6242 and seventhH7651 yearH8141 of AsaH609 kingH4428 of JudahH3063, and reignedH4427 in his steadH8799. [10]Therfor Zamri felde in, and smoot, and killide hym, in the seuene and twentithe yeer of Asa, kyng of Juda; and regnede for hym.
[11]And it came to pass, when he began to reignH4427[H8800], as soon as he satH3427[H8800] on his throneH3678, that he slewH5221[H8689] all the houseH1004 of BaashaH1201: he leftH7604[H8689] him not one that pissethH8366[H8688] against a wallH7023, neither of his kinsfolksH1350[H8802], nor of his friendsH7453. [11]And whanne he hadde regned, and hadde setun on his trone, he smoot al the hows of Baasa, and he lefte not therof a pissere to the wal, and hise kynnesmen, and frendis.
[12]Thus did ZimriH2174 destroyH8045[H8686] all the houseH1004 of BaashaH1201, according to the wordH1697 of the LORDH3068, which he spakeH1696[H8765] against BaashaH1201 byH3027 JehuH3058 the prophetH5030, [12]And Zamri dide awey al the hows of Baasa, bi the word of the Lord, which he spak to Baasa, in the hond of Hieu, the prophete, for alle the synnes of Baasa,
[13]For all the sinsH2403 of BaashaH1201, and the sinsH2403 of ElahH425 his sonH1121, by which they sinnedH2398[H8804], and by which they made IsraelH3478 to sinH2398[H8689], in provoking the LORDH3068 GodH430 of IsraelH3478 to angerH3707[H8687] with their vanitiesH1892. [13]and for the synnes of Hela, his sone, whiche synneden, and maden Israel to do synne, and wraththiden the Lord God of Israel in her vanytees.
[14]Now the restH3499 of the actsH1697 of ElahH425, and all that he didH6213[H8804], are they not writtenH3789[H8803] in the bookH5612 of the chroniclesH1697[H3117] of the kingsH4428 of IsraelH3478? [14]Sotheli the residue of the wordis of Hela, and alle thingis whiche he dide, whether these ben not writun in the book of wordis of daies of the kyngis of Israel?
[15]In the twentyH6242[H8141] and seventhH7651 yearH8141 of AsaH609 kingH4428 of JudahH3063 did ZimriH2174 reignH4427[H8804] sevenH7651 daysH3117 in TirzahH8656. And the peopleH5971 were encampedH2583[H8802] against GibbethonH1405, which belonged to the PhilistinesH6430. [15]In the seuene and twentithe yeer of Aza, kyng of Juda, Zamri regnede seuene daies in Tharsa; forsothe the oost bisegide Gebethon, the citee of Philisteis.
[16]And the peopleH5971 that were encampedH2583[H8802] heardH8085[H8799] sayH559[H8800], ZimriH2174 hath conspiredH7194[H8804], and hath also slainH5221[H8689] the kingH4428: wherefore all IsraelH3478 made OmriH6018, the captainH8269 of the hostH6635, kingH4427[H8686] over IsraelH3478 that dayH3117 in the campH4264. [16]And whanne it hadde herd, that Zamri hadde rebellid, and hadde slayn the kyng, al Israel made Amry kyng to hem, that was prince of the chyualrye, on Israel, in that dai, in `the castels.
[17]And OmriH6018 went upH5927[H8799] from GibbethonH1405, and all IsraelH3478 with him, and they besiegedH6696[H8799] TirzahH8656. [17]Therfor Amry stiede, and al Israel with hym, fro Gebethon, and bisegide Thersa.
[18]And it came to pass, when ZimriH2174 sawH7200[H8800] that the cityH5892 was takenH3920[H8738], that he wentH935[H8799] into the palaceH759 of the king'sH4428 houseH1004, and burntH8313[H8799] the king'sH4428 houseH1004 over him with fireH784, H4191and diedH8799 [18]Sothely Zamri siy, that the citee schulde be ouercomun, and he entride in to the palis, and brente hym silf with the kyngis hows;
[19]For his sinsH2403 which he sinnedH2398[H8804] in doingH6213[H8800] evilH7451 in the sightH5869 of the LORDH3068, in walkingH3212[H8800] in the wayH1870 of JeroboamH3379, and in his sinH2403 which he didH6213[H8804], to make IsraelH3478 to sinH2398.[H8687] [19]and he was deed in hise synnes whiche he synnede, doynge yuel bifor the Lord, and goynge in the weie of Jeroboam, and in hise synnes, bi whiche he made Israel to do synne.
[20]Now the restH3499 of the actsH1697 of ZimriH2174, and his treasonH7195 that he wroughtH7194[H8804], are they not writtenH3789[H8803] in the bookH5612 of the chroniclesH1697[H3117] of the kingsH4428 of IsraelH3478? [20]Sotheli the residue of wordis of Zamri, and of his tresouns, and tyrauntrie, whether these ben not writun in the book of wordis of daies of the kyngis of Israel?
[21]Then were the peopleH5971 of IsraelH3478 dividedH2505[H8735] into two partsH2677: halfH2677 of the peopleH5971 followedH1961[H8804][H310] TibniH8402 the sonH1121 of GinathH1527, to make him kingH4427[H8687]; and halfH2677 followedH310 OmriH6018. [21]Thanne the puple of Israel was departid in to twei partis; the half part of the puple suede Thebny, sone of Geneth, to make hym kyng, and the half part suede Amry.
[22]But the peopleH5971 that followedH310 OmriH6018 prevailedH2388[H8799] againstH854 the peopleH5971 that followedH310 TibniH8402 the sonH1121 of GinathH1527: so TibniH8402 diedH4191[H8799], and OmriH6018 reignedH4427.[H8799] [22]Sotheli the puple that was with Amry, hadde maystry ouer the puple that suede Thebny, the sone of Geneth; and Thebny was deed, and Amri regnede.
[23]In the thirtyH7970[H8141] and firstH259 yearH8141 of AsaH609 kingH4428 of JudahH3063 began OmriH6018 to reignH4427[H8804] over IsraelH3478, twelveH8147[H6240] yearsH8141: sixH8337 yearsH8141 reignedH4427[H8804] he in TirzahH8656. [23]In the oon and thrittithe yeer of Aza, kyng of Juda, Amri regnede on Israel, twelue yeer; in Thersa he regnede sixe yeer.
[24]And he boughtH7069[H8799] the hillH2022 SamariaH8111 of ShemerH8106 for two talentsH3603 of silverH3701, and builtH1129[H8799] on the hillH2022, and calledH7121[H8799] the nameH8034 of the cityH5892 which he builtH1129[H8804], after the nameH8034 of ShemerH8106, ownerH113 of the hillH2022, SamariaH8111. [24]And he bouyte of Soomeer, for twei talentis of siluer, the hil of Samarie, and `bildide that hil; and he clepide the name of the citee, which he hadde bildid, bi the name of Soomer, lord of the hil of Samarie.
[25]But OmriH6018 wroughtH6213[H8799] evilH7451 in the eyesH5869 of the LORDH3068, and did worseH7489[H8686] than all that were before himH6440. [25]Forsothe Amry dide yuel in the siyt of the Lord, and wrouyte weiwardli, ouer alle men that weren bifor hym.
[26]For he walkedH3212[H8799] in all the wayH1870 of JeroboamH3379 the sonH1121 of NebatH5028, and in his sinH2403 wherewith he made IsraelH3478 to sinH2398[H8689], to provoke the LORDH3068 GodH430 of IsraelH3478 to angerH3707[H8687] with their vanitiesH1892. [26]And he yede in al the weie of Jeroboam, sone of Nabath, and in hise synnes, bi whiche he made Israel to do synne, that he schulde terre to ire, in his vanytees, the Lord God of Israel.
[27]Now the restH3499 of the actsH1697 of OmriH6018 which he didH6213[H8804], and his mightH1369 that he shewedH6213[H8804], are they not writtenH3789[H8803] in the bookH5612 of the chroniclesH1697[H3117] of the kingsH4428 of IsraelH3478? [27]Forsothe the residue of wordis of Amry, and hise batels, which he dide, whether these ben not writun in the book of wordis of daies of the kyngis of Israel?
[28]So OmriH6018 sleptH7901[H8799] with his fathersH1, and was buriedH6912[H8735] in SamariaH8111: and AhabH256 his sonH1121 reignedH4427 in his steadH8799. [28]And Amry slepte with hise fadris, and was biried in Samarie; and Achab, his sone, regnede for hym.
[29]And in the thirtyH7970[H8141] and eighthH8083 yearH8141 of AsaH609 kingH4428 of JudahH3063 began AhabH256 the sonH1121 of OmriH6018 to reignH4427[H8804] over IsraelH3478: and AhabH256 the sonH1121 of OmriH6018 reignedH4427[H8799] over IsraelH3478 in SamariaH8111 twentyH6242 and twoH8147 yearsH8141. [29]Forsothe Achab, the sone of Amry, regnede on Israel, in the `eiyte and thrittithe yeer of Asa, kyng of Juda; and Achab, sone of Amry, regnede on Israel, in Samarie, two and twenti yeer.
[30]And AhabH256 the sonH1121 of OmriH6018 didH6213[H8799] evilH7451 in the sightH5869 of the LORDH3068 above all that were before himH6440. [30]And Achab, sone of Amry, dide yuel in the siyte of the Lord, ouer alle men that weren bifor hym;
[31]And it came to pass, as if it had been a light thingH7043[H8738] for him to walkH3212[H8800] in the sinsH2403 of JeroboamH3379 the sonH1121 of NebatH5028, that he tookH3947[H8799] to wifeH802 JezebelH348 the daughterH1323 of EthbaalH856 kingH4428 of the ZidoniansH6722, and wentH3212[H8799] and servedH5647[H8799] BaalH1168, and worshippedH7812 himH8691. [31]and it suffiside not to hym that he yede in the synnes of Jeroboam, sone of Nabath, ferthermore and he weddide a wijf, Jezabel, the douyter of Methaal, kyng of Sydoneis; and he yede, and seruyde Baal, and worschipide hym.
[32]And he reared upH6965[H8686] an altarH4196 for BaalH1168 in the houseH1004 of BaalH1168, which he had builtH1129[H8804] in SamariaH8111. [32]And he settide an auter to Baal in the temple of Baal, which he hadde bildid in Samarie, and he plauntide a wode;
[33]And AhabH256 madeH6213[H8799] a groveH842; and AhabH256 didH6213[H8800] moreH3254[H8686] to provoke the LORDH3068 GodH430 of IsraelH3478 to angerH3707[H8687] than all the kingsH4428 of IsraelH3478 that were before himH6440. [33]and Achab addide in his werk, and terride to ire the Lord God of Israel, more thanne alle kyngis of Israel that weren bifor hym.
[34]In his daysH3117 did HielH2419 the BetheliteH1017 buildH1129[H8804] JerichoH3405: he laid the foundationH3245[H8765] thereof in AbiramH48 his firstbornH1060, and set upH5324[H8689] the gatesH1817 thereof in his youngestH6810 son SegubH7687, according to the wordH1697 of the LORDH3068, which he spakeH1696[H8765] byH3027 JoshuaH3091 the sonH1121 of NunH5126. [34]Forsothe in hise daies Ahiel of Bethel bildide Jerico; in Abiram, his firste sone, he foundide it, in Segub, his laste sone, he settide yatis therof, bi the word of the Lord, which he hadde spoke in the hond of Josue, sone of Nun.
